"Hampton Inn & Suites-Mansfield South" is a clean, comfortable, but otherwise inoffensive and undistinguished member of the Hampton Inns chain. It is situated in a clutch of fast-food franchises at the junction of Hanley road (an east/west street) and Main St. (which you can take north to downtown Mansfield). It has no distinguishing features, no view, and is not close to anything but Interstate 71 (about 100 yards). There is no patio or any outdoor common space. This is the terminus of Main St. and there's nothing out here but housing (some quite nice) and blueberry farms. Certainly nothing you could walk to. Oddly, the hotel is sandwiched between two private homes.
On the bright side, the beds are firm and comfortable, the lobby and the rooms are well lit, there's plenty of hot water and the water pressure is good. The staff members I interacted with were competent and polite.
There are two things that really make this place stand out. First, the pool is not over-chlorinated - most places you can smell the pool throughout the lobby floor, but here it's contained in the pool area. I complimented the pool maintenance guy and the desk clerk on this.
Second, and most important to me, they do not keep Fox News blaring in the common area where the continental breakfast is served. This is a blessing for which I will always be thankful and for which I will gladly recommend the "Hampton Inn & Suites-Mansfield South" to anyone care to listen. A "3" anywhere else, this makes "4", hands down. This is now my first choice of places to stay when I visit Lexington to visit relatives.
