I stayed here for 1 night (a Thursday night) in September 2018. I was in St. Charles, IL the week before and decided to spend a day exploring Chicago as well. Since I was a Hilton Honors member and had accumulated some points over the last few years, I decided to use some to pay for my room. I made my reservation about 3 weeks in advance; at the time, the cheapest rooms at this and the other major chain hotels were over $400. I wound up using 50,000 points to pay for my room at the Hampton Inn.
I arrived at the hotel around 2:30 PM on Thursday. Although it was early, I was able to check in upon arrival, which was very convenient. However, if you're unable to check in, the hotel does offer luggage storage in the meantime. For HHonors members, there was a check-in snack or drink (you got to choose one; I chose a bottle of water). In addition, there was complimentary orange-infused water across from the front desk. The lady checking me in, Kenisha, was very friendly and polite, and gave a pretty thorough description of the various amenities the hotel offered, including the complimentary hot breakfast (6 AM to 10 AM every morning).
My room was as expected; I had opted for a room with a king bed and a sofa. My room was on the 4th floor and didn't have much of a view. The toiletries, including Neutrogena shampoo, conditioner, and soap bars, were nice. There were plenty of towels. The layout of the room/bathroom was pretty good, although the bathroom seemed a bit squished, with the toilet really close to the bathtub, making it hard to lay out a towel in front of the tub. (However, this seems to be the case at all the Hiltons I stay at, so not really a big deal.) The bed was very comfortable. The alarm clock seemed newer than some of the ones I've seen at other Hiltons.
I really appreciated the complimentary breakfast; there were a good number of options. If you're into hot/savory breakfast, there were scrambled eggs, maple-infused sausages, and potatoes. For those with a sweet tooth, there were 2 waffle irons at the make-your-own-waffle station, and toppings included syrup, stewed fruit, nuts, and whipped cream. Some healthier choices included Chobani Greek yogurt (although I noticed they didn't have plain) with berries. Finally, there were also some pastries, bread, bagels (toasters available), cereals, coffee, tea, and juice. I opted for a waffle (the waffle irons were pretty easy to use; I'd never used one before and didn't have any issues), some sausages, and a yogurt. There were a few communal tables where you could eat, but I chose to bring my food up to my room for a little bit of privacy. The breakfast area was not very busy when I went down around 6:30 AM, but I imagine it gets a lot busier as the morning progresses.
Check-out was quick and my folio/invoice was emailed to me. I was able to store my luggage at the hotel after check-out since my flight wasn't until Friday evening and I wanted to spend the day exploring the city. My luggage was tagged, and it was easy to retrieve it when I returned. The hotel is located in a very central area, close to a lot of other hotels and within a short walk from the Millennium Park/the Bean. It also seemed pretty subway accessible; there were train tracks all around. Because the hotel is so central, note that it's not the quietest location, so if you're a light sleeper, you might want to choose a hotel farther out.
Overall, I had a nice stay at this hotel and would be happy to return if I'm ever back in Chicago again.
