Eleven Madison Park’s Foie-Gras-Stuffed Chicken To Go | The New Yorker

"Humm launched EMP To Go, offering a roast-chicken dinner—plus a turkey iteration for Thanksgiving, Krug Grande Cuvée and white-sturgeon roe optional—for pickup in not only Manhattan and Brooklyn but also the notorious one-per-cent strongholds of East Hampton; Greenwich, Connecticut; and Montclair, New Jersey." - Hannah Goldfield

I stayed at the Hampton Inn East Windsor and would describe the experience as okay overall. The biggest positive was that the hotel was clean. The room was neat and tidy, and the bathroom was well-maintained. The common areas, including the lobby and hallways, were also in good condition. Cleanliness is a top priority for me when staying in any hotel, and this location met that standard.

My 3-star rating is misleading. THE GOOD > My room was impeccably clean and updated, so that deserves 5-stars in my book! THE NOT SO GOOD > Front desk was accommodating, but didn't rectify the problem, and that brings it down to 3-stars; I kinda averaged it out. THE PROBLEMS > The room above us stomped and dropped things on our ceiling for h-o-u-r-s; it did not get quiet up there until 3 am. In addition, like I needed more, doors slammed on my floor in the middle of the night. Men were talking and singing outside my room at 2 am. I went down to the front desk in the early evening, and then I called the front desk 2x during the night about these problems, and the guy attempted to handle it and said something to them, but after he left, it continued. I was up all night long. Can't comment on breakfast buffet because we up'd and left in the morning out of tiredness and frustration. CONCLUSION > It was the worst night I have ever had in a hotel (honest!), but it was because of the guests. Management could have been more proactive, in my opinion, and they should have stayed on top of the rowdiness instead of commenting and walking away. Monitor the situation! Also, the noise of the turnpike is annoying, and our a/c unit would not run continuously on fan; it was temperature-controlled so it went on and off all the time, which is also annoying. I wish I had the fan to drown out not only the turnpike, but also inconsiderate guests. TAKE AWAY > Request the top floor so no one is above you! And bring ear plugs, just in case.

Breakfast is not much.. Some coffee and a waffle maker.. So don't be miss lead. Amenities are nice.. Room cleaning skipped my room for some reason.. So didn't get the towels and garbage removed from my room.they have a cool like shop across from front desk for snacks.. There is no hotel bar also.

Definitely outdated. Definitely ghetto. Definitely noisy. Hallway smells like cigarette smoke. Definitely won’t be staying here again. UPDATE: Although we spoke to the manager 2x, the banging went on for hours. In hindsight, I probably should’ve called the police. It’s HOT in our room. Noise is unbearable.

Clean. Good breakfast, nice amenities! The downside is that it's right by the highway, and we had a horrible sleep, especially the first night due to traffic. However, they're nice enough to provide 3M earplugs.

Google
$195 for one night in the middle of nowhere is outrageous. And there's an extra fee if you'd like to be able to cancel. There is nothing in the room that indicates how to connect to the Wi-Fi. There's a water dispenser in the gym, but no way to drink it -- no paper cups. The indoor pool stunk up the entire first floor with a harsh chlorine odor. No complimentary bottled water in the room.

The room was clean and nice. Nice continental breakfast as well. Not around much so. you may have to order Grubhub for dinner, but the hotel gives you a $10 gift certificate.

The staff here were very friendly, the car parking was free and was a reasonably located hotel to visit Six Flags Great Adventure. Housekeeping did a great job of keeping the room fresh and the overall cleanliness of the hotel was very good. The breakfast options were good, and inclusive which is always a bonus!

Yelp
Everything about this hotel is perfect. You won't be disappointed. The free breakfast and hospitality were wonderful. The staff- both day and night were wonderful. I really appreciate them. Happy holidays

Yelp
I have to give two star only because they are trying to improve the location, however they are not being honest about the significance of the amount of construction actually occurring here. I can see in the future it will be for the better but this should be fully disclosed. The disclosure listed on the site was exterior work and Lobby work. This is a full hotel restoration. I applaud them for doing it but after a long day of traveling it's not what we expected. This is a convenient location with the exception of availability of restaurants/ food within waking distance.

Yelp
My wife and I checked into the Hampton Inn in East Windsor, New Jersey on December 26, 2023. My wife has a medical condition that sometimes creates an emergency such that she needs to use the restroom very quickly. We had already checked in online to the hotel and asked where the bathroom was in the lobby. The woman behind the desk, "Kim" (she didn't give us her last name) just stared at us and said we needed to have a room key and then proceeded to create a room key for us. Unfortunately, it took a number of minutes to get the room key and in the meantime, my wife's condition was deteriorating. We ask for another key to the bathroom so that my wife could quickly use it. Kim just stared at us and continue to do her work. She had to go to the back room to try another computer. All the while my wife's waiting. It was a horrible situation that could've had a very bad outcome. It was humiliating. We have spoken to the Hilton corporate national helpdesk. They created a case, and allowed me to talk to the general manager at the Hampton Inn. We have spoken to the general manager, and she reassures me that "Kim" Will be given extra training in this matter. I explained to the general manager that "Kim" was cruel to us and disregarded our very urgent needs. I would never go back to this, Hampton Inn because they do not have an ability to respond to any kind of customer need that is outside the ordinary routine.

Yelp
If you're re traveling with kids, book here. Reasons: 1. 20 min away from six flags great adventure 2. Free breakfast 3. Free parking If those top 3 is not good enough for you, then I don't know what is. Let's start with booking, super easy and reasonably priced. Check in was also easy and the front desk staff were friendly. For those who are not aware, you can use your app to unlock your room. So no worries if you forget your keys. We booked a two queen size bed room. Comes with a standard 42 inch tv with decent quality screen. A desk, a mini fridge, a table, basket style drawers, closet, and 2 ottoman. Every room has a window. The window view was just the parking lot. Honestly the view was my least worries and only cared if we're getting some sun. I wake better with natural lighting. The bathroom was very spacious. Comes with basic complimentary shampoo, lotion, shower gel, conditioner, bar soup and make up remover wipes. Towels are provided. EVerything was fully stocked and cleaned in my room. If you forget something basic, you may purchase deodorant and other essentials at the hotel's mini store located next to the front desk. The beds are springy for me because I'm a side sleep. If you rest on your belly or back...it may or may not be as comfortable. The kids loved it. Slept throughout the night peacefully. Complimentary Breakfast It's different every morning. However it still serves eggs, a meat and carbs. -conventional breakfast: cereal, bagels, toast, muffins, boiled egg, apples, bananas, oranges, Greek yogurt - Hot plate: scrambled eggs, a meat(pork sausage, sliced sausages, sausage links), carb/starched (stuffed fruit pancakes/crepes, variety of potatoes ), waffle station -Fruits: mix fruit salad, fresh juice bar( greens, mango peach, strawberry), yogurt drink mango or berries Huge plus, you can take the food to the room. So helpful because seating gets full. Amenities Indoor pool. No lifeguard so please watch your kids. Towels are provided and tables and lounge chairs are available. Small gym with basic equipment and dumbbells. I would definitely come back here. It's really quiet, affordable and 20min away from six flags. The highway was not a problem. You barely see it or hear anything. Customer service was on point. I do have one suggestion, the staff to use some professional language such as "thank you, excuse me" and greetings "good morning or have a nice evening". There's been some cases I wish people were well mannered. For instance like saying" good morning ms. I'm collecting some items and can you step to the side for just a minute. Thank you." Instead, she just said excuse and directed where to stand...umm ok, that was confusing and annoying. Eh, it's eh.

Yelp
I almost always look for Hampton properties when I travel. Unfortunately, this room was booked by an Admin with the company Expedia account so my diamond status and room preferences weren't recognized. I did ask before going up to my room that they move me away from the elevator. Unfortunately, my room was directly under a herd of elephants. I called the front desk and they called the room to ask them to stop running and stomping on the floor with worked for about ten minutes. The walls and ceilings/floors/windows are not sound proof here. The elephants were awoken by someone blasting music from their car behind the hotel. Luckily, I was already awake. Unfortunately, didn't see the ear plugs in the bathroom until the next morning.

Yelp
Newly remodeled modernized rooms. Since window do not open, it would have been nice to put in air purifying filter that can actually remove toxic off gassing smell. I was happy to see improvements made, however, there are still functional improvements that could be made. I love the sliding bathroom/closet door vs the big swinging doors that isn't very functional. Sliding shower doors with more durable big sized rollers is a plus. You can go out from any doors, however, you can only enter thru main doir for security reasons. I will stay here again, although I might need to bring my air purifier.

Yelp
When traveling for business I generally pick Hampton Inn's for their excellent quality, nice taste, and good service. This Hampton was on par with other Hampton's however it is located right next to a busy freeway and overpass with heavy truck traffic all night long. The combination made for a difficult nights sleep due to the sound. If I hadn't arrived as late as I did (after midnight) and had completed getting in bed before realizing how loud it was I would have considered asking to have been changed to another room. I don't know if things could be improved by better sound proofed windows, but thats easier said than done. If you are set to stay at this hotel I would recommend requesting a room as far or opposite from the freeway as possible, or perhaps looking for accommodations elsewhere. Will post a video of my view from my window and hopefully a bit of the sound. The video does not do the sound justice though.

Yelp
I stayed here last night after a long drive from New York. It was well worth it. The staff was super friendly and very professional. The front desk service was first rate. I didn't get their names but I wish I could thank them again. We got a chance to enjoy the indoor pool and then went out to have dinner at a near by mall with major restaurants and a movie complex. The kids enjoyed the breakfast in the morning, lots of different things to choose from. I had a great time, the rooms and the bathroom were clean. The hotel itself was clean and the hallways smelled fresh as well. Everyone was so friendly, we briefly meet other guests in the hallways and everyone exchanged, a friendly hello or have a good day, I almost forgot I was in New Jersey. LOL....This is a really nice family hotel.

Yelp
We stayed at the Hampton Inn as part of our trip to Six Flags Great Adventure. The hotel is very clean with modern finishes. Amenities are excellent! The rooms are spacious and include microwave and refrigerator for no extra charge. Breakfast and dinner snacks like hot dogs are included and the staff is very friendly. The hotel is a little farther from the park than we expected but well worth the drive. Highly recommended over the other choices in the area!

Yelp
Nice hotel for the price I heard the internet speed is optimum to do your work remotely through VPN . The rooms are clean and of good standard . The towels & sheets are clean . They serve compli breakfast which have varieties of options. They provide coffee in the lobby whole day . The negative is because i noticed a dead cockroach lying on the floor. I know they used the pesticide to probably kill the roaches but they didn't take care to remove the dead bodies ;-)

Yelp
I stayed here before I moved in the area. Its less than okay. the breakfast good, the tea selection was nice, but the room quality was unsatisfying. I found a used condom under the ledge of the bed, I asked for another room, the manager couldn't help me, she was a tall Indian woman who told me they were out of available rooms. The whole place is own by people who can't speak any English. Since I had no where else nearby to go, I had to stay there. Luckily after I arrived back to dinner, the employee at the desk who was a white male understood the issue with the accommodation and set me up with another room. I wouldn't recommend this hotel! Keep driving if you have to...

Yelp
Clean spacious room. Nice staff. Easy access off the New Jersey turnpike. Our room was on the third floor on the left side of the building, very close to the ramp off the turnpike: resulting in continuous droning noises from 18 wheelers passing by.... ( and I had ear plugs)...but I already knew this in choosing it for convenience. In the morning, I woke up to a free hot breakfast: eggs, sausage, hash browns and waffles and forgot about the noises....somewhat.

Yelp
I stayed in this hotel with my boyfriend last Friday and it was amazing!! Great price, great amenities, great service! Unlike other hotels, the key card worked on the first try and worked every time. The room was spacious and clean and contained a convenient mini-fridge to store your own snacks and drinks. The lobby also has a snack closet where you can buy bottles of water and snacks of all kinds. A very comfortable and welcoming place to stay! And did I mention they had a pool?? Sadly, my boyfriend and I did not bring our bathing suits on this trip and did not get to actually enjoy the pool- but it's there! And for a budget-friendly hotel, a pool is a nice luxury. Last but not least, this Hampton Inn has a PHENOMENAL complimentary breakfast- eggs, cereal, waffle-maker- anything you want, and in bountiful quantities! Unlike many hotels of this price range which offer a pithy selection of cheap, bad-tasting food that is all but run out if you arrive in the dining hall more than an hour after breakfast begins, this Hampton Inn offers a delicious cornucopia of food for the entire three-hour breakfast period. Breakfast is served 7-10am. We got to the dining room at around 9:15 and there was PLENTY of food! The food was so delicious and there was also a wide selection of condiments- all kinds of jelly, jam, ketchup, mayo, whatever you want! They also provided coffee and water to drink. WONDERFUL hotel- GREAT price- AMAZING food- EXCEPTIONAL service!

Yelp
I Wish I could give the 10 stars!!! My in-Laws had a flood at there house and it was inhabitable. We came in to lobby and were immediately met by the most freindly and knowledgeable Woman. Kayla the receptionist was so compassionate and sympathetic to out situation; immediately offering assurance that the members of the Hampton inn will be there for them and make there extended stay as comfortable as possible. The staff has gone above and beyond in helping my in-laws during this difficult time even assisting them with there belongings and moving rooms so it would be easier for my Father in- law being he has some disabilities. The rooms are clean and quiet and the complimentary breakfast is awesome.

Yelp
If you are traveling near New York City, this is the best place to stay. Alexsis and her crew operate a clean, professionally run Hampton. There was someone cleaning everywhere we looked. The hotel has the easiest exit and entrance from and to the New Jersey Turnpike. it is quiet inside and we didn't hear any traffic noise, although it graciously provided free ear plugs. The breakfast was hot; the coffee was fresh and we had the best scrambled eggs we ate in a Hampton. There is a coupon in the discount motels book. This is the only place we will stay at when we go to N.Y.C.

Yelp
This place is out dated, the first floor smells of chlorine from the pool. You can hear the freeway all night. You can hear upstairs guest. The breakfast is good, not good to stay long at. Not getting the monies worth. The towels twice have had hair on them, disgusting!!!

Yelp
Hampton Inns have the best beds including this one! I get the best sleep when I stay at a Hampton. Front desk employees were very friendly. And I love that you can grab a breakfast to go if you don't have time to sit and eat. The to go breakfast was actually decent- a Kellogg's pastry crisps bar (which I am now hooked on), an apple and a muffin. Comfortable place to stay for a reasonable price.

Yelp
I stayed here with my family since we were visiting some friends a few towns away for a gathering. This Hampton Inn was in the perfect location next to the highway, very clean and not to mention the beds were very comfortable. Staff at the front desk was pleasant. The indoor pool was clean. A plus was the breakfast. They offer various hot foods home fries, bagels, cereal and turkey sausage which many hotels don't serve. Definitely will be staying here when visiting the area again.

R D.

Yelp
The Hampton inn was amazing. It was a great in between spot for the shore for our family 4th of July party, and Great Adventure. The breakfast was plentiful with many choices. The kids loved the indoor pool as well.

Yelp
I stayed here for my cousin's wedding and found this place to be very enjoyable. We walked into a air conditioned lobby on a sweltering hot day, which felt great and the employees greeted us nicely and checked us in quickly. Our room was standard, but very good. The TV had bad reception, but hey, what can you do about it? the bed was comfortable, bathroom was nice and they serve complementary breakfast. Pretty sweet. Nice place to stay.

Yelp
For the value, this place gets 5 stars. Sure, it's not a luxury hotel, but at $130/night, the quality is very nice. I stayed here one night when I was in the area for work, and I originally picked it for its proximity to 95 and the convenient morning breakfast. What I wasn't expecting was a modern, clean facility with amenities such as an indoor pool or a large snack room. My only complaints are that my non-smoking room did have a faint odor of cigarette smoke, and the walls aren't very soundproof.

Yelp
I have to tell you, I loved my stay here! The staff was super friendly, the rooms were clean and I slept like a baby! What more can you ask? Well here's more! Early and easy check in , free newspapers, free breakfast in lobby is not just bagels, etc - but eggs, potatoes, ham ., free wifi, business center w/ printer, laundry machines, clean rooms, and heated indoor pool. Close to Turnpike exit.

Grace L.

Yelp
My complaints are all regarding hardware. We got a room on the 3rd floor towards the end, and the noise from highway vehicles are quite loud. Maybe the 2nd or 1st floor rooms do not have this problem. The bed is too soft to my like (maybe sagging a little?) Again, different people have different preferences, and I might be more sensitive on this. The shower gives off a sharp noise when in use, kind of like the whistle by a kettle of boiling water, but a louder and more rustic whistle. So I didn't enjoy my stay while I was in my room. Other than that, the staffs are nice, and breakfast is pretty good.

Robin H.

Yelp
What a great staff! They make this hotel stand out above many others, and make the Hampton Inn East Windsor a home away from home. We had a long stay at the hotel and found it very comfortable, clean and convenient. Linens are good; the complimentary breakfast is pretty standard fare for Hampton Inns. There is a small fitness room and an indoor pool. It is very close to the NJ Turnpike, so it's a convenient place to stop. We had a room at the opposite end of the hotel from the highway and it was quiet. No noise from neighbors either, which was great. Plenty of places to eat nearby, including diners, Panera, the usual burger joints, and a few really nice restaurants around town.

Yelp
WARNING! VERY IMPORTANT MUST READ! My stay at the Hampton Inn was incredibly horrible. It was so bad I feel the need to warn all future customers in an organized essay. It all started as I checked in. The managerial staff, in particular, the manager himself was rude and did not seem to care about my hotel experience or personal well being. However, I thought the majority of the hotel staff did a nice job. After checking in, I progressed up to my room where I encountered numerous problems that would ruin my stay. The first thing I noticed was that the elevator was extremely slow and the stairwell was for fire use only. After slowly ascending up to my room on the third floor, I entered and was not pleased. My hotel room must have been brand new but I wasn't too excited about it. The room was dominated by the smell of volatile organic compounds (the result of off gassing from recently painted walls and furniture that contains formaldehyde). The recently installed fire and carbon monoxide alarms would have the average guest convinced that the air quality is well monitored and safe, but I happen to know that VOCs can cause respiratory illness. Hotel guests may experience nausea, vomiting, headaches, and irritation of the nose, eyes, and throat. The staff that works there every day is more likely to experience chronic symptoms like damaged liver, kidney problems, and cancer. Personally my nose and throat were irritated, but something far worse could happen to someone with asthma or some other existing respiratory illness. The effects of VOCs can be mitigated by ventilating the rooms after painting and installing furniture. It is obvious that this has not been done properly. At this point I was concerned for my well-being at the least. As if I wasn't already irritated enough, I came to find the wifi that was very heavily advertised, did not exist. I considered going to the front desk to ask for help, but I weighed my options and came to the conclusion that I didn't want to speak with the incompetent manager and wait five minutes for the slow elevator. As a result, I was forced to use extensive amounts of cellular data to complete important work. Next up in the list of conundrums, I noticed the inefficient air conditioner and bathroom lighting. The otherwise modern designed room had 5 incandescent light bulbs in the bathroom! These light bulbs are horribly inefficient and bad for the environment. In addition, the air conditioner was not responsive and didn't stop cooling when I raised the temperature up 4 degrees. Late at night after a long day, I desperately needed a good nights sleep. Unfortunately, it seemed the hotel did not want this of me. I attempted a simple task of closing the blinds before bed, where I came to find the mechanism was extremely difficult to understand. It took me much longer than it should have to perform this simple task. I know from first hand experience that there are much simpler and more efficient designs to close blinds. I was now exhausted and I tried to sleep, but I was very uncomfortable because of heavy and coarse blankets and repetitive door slamming I expect to have been done by staff members in the early AM hours. I woke up after little sleep to another struggle with the blinds. Next I realized one neighboring room had tea at the ready, but mine did not. As a result, I was forced to drink distasteful and revolting coffee, before taking a cold shower. I then made my way to the slowly descending elevator to reach the lobby with 15 minutes of breakfast to spare. I have to admit I didn't expect much of the continental breakfast in the lobby, but I certainly did not expect to bite into a rock hard muffin. Whether it was igneous, sedimentary, or metamorphic rock I will never know. I washed down my disgusting breakfast with watery orange juice and ascended to my room with a temper. In an attempt to salvage any form of joy at this hotel, I decided to take a morning dip in the indoor pool. My hope was instantly diminished when the card reader to get into the pool failed. Looking back, I am not upset with the failure because the pool was only the size of my bathtub. In conclusion, my Hampton Inn experience was severely plagued by a mean manager, unnecessary inefficiencies, and overall failure to meet even the lowest of standards for hotels. I realize some people may believe these problems to be easily solved, but when the solution involves talking to an incompetent and rude manager, I would rather suffer. I personally do not recommend anyone to stay at this hotel, ever.

Yelp
Clean and comfortable. Walls were a bit thin. Nice complimentary breakfast. Terrific staff. Still, I am greatly offended that there were no bibles in the rooms.

Robin S.

Yelp
"Manager" named Candice gives off a very bad "I don't care just get out of my face" attitude. People working under her are much more helpful, patient, and polite.

Yelp
If you need a great and affordable place to stay for the night while visiting Six Flags Great Adventure, the Hampton Inn is easily the best deal near Jackson, NJ. It's only a quick 15-20 minute drive from the park, and is a very clean and comfortable place to stay with a family. Some of the perks included in your stay are a free wireless internet, free buffet breakfast, and good size rooms. The breakfast was an especially nice surprise, as it was hot and offered a lot of options. You could make your own waffles, have a bowl of cereal or oatmeal, munch on assorted pastries, eat a variety of fruit, or have a nice plate of eggs with sausage, potatoes, and bacon. They also had a good variety of hot and cold drinks, so anyone could find something to eat and be full too. The Hampton Inn is also located in historic Hightstown, which was a cute neighborhood with plenty of local restaurants to dine in. Next time I go to Six Flags, I won't hesitate to stay here again!

Yelp
For three nights this past week, I stayed at the Hampton Inn East Windsor, NJ. What a positively wonderful experience. Let me explain. I traveled to the area to visit my 97 year old aunt who had fallen, fractured a bone in her lower spine, and was recuperating at Elms Rehabilitation about five miles away. Since I am "direction ally challenged", I was seeking driving advice at the front desk. My nervousness and trepidation must have been apparent because the general manager, Paul Perkins, generously volunteered to lead me in his car to the Elms - which he did each day. On the final day of my stay, he also led me to a closer car rental location than the one from which I rented the car. In addition to Paul Perkins' kindness and willingness to go "above and beyond" in helping a motel guest, his leadership skills have influenced the staff. They were always patient, friendly, and helpful whenever I needed something from the front desk. (And I ended up with a great room too!) In sum, my stay at the Hampton Inn was exceptional. You will be so fortunate if you are lucky enough to have the opportunity to stay here.

Yelp
I recently stayed here after my wedding and the hotel was so flexible and accommodating!! There was a bottle of prosecco, chocolates, and snacks waiting in the room, a lovely surprise. They were laid back and always helpful with requests about checking in our luggage early, leaving our car there overnight early, and having an early check in. They took care of everything seamlessly. They even called about an envelope I accidentally left in the room and offered to mail it. I had created a room block with Erica who was so helpful. Thank you again Hampton inn for making the evening so stress free and enjoyable !!!
