I love the Hilton Honors chain of hotels, and I've stayed at this location multiple times over the past decade with all great experiences, but this stay was unlike any other stay. I had been traveling all week and just in from being down in the gulf area (NOLA). As recognized as a Hilton Honors member at the front desk, they had me spin a wheel for a prize, and I won 15,000 Hilton Honors points, which was nice, but my luck was soon to change.
I get in my room (405), and it appears as a clean and decent room. It was warm and stuffy in there, so I tried to adjust the AC, but it is not responding. Then it puts out error code (A2). I also could not find TV remote. When I decided to call the front desk from the phone in room, there was no cord from phone to handset which I found odd to be missing, so I called from the speaker phone option. The front desk was quick to send me up a remote, and the associate who brought it said he would contact someone to look at AC.
Within about 5 minutes, another associate arrives at my room, reached under the AC unit and clicks something in which I assume reset the unit and it began cooling the room down. At this time, it was appr. 8 PM. The associate then reached back behind bedside table, and pulled up the phone cord, and an old paper cup. He reinstalled the cord into the phone, and said he would come back in a few minutes to make sure the AC was still cooling off, and I told him that it was fine, as I was going to go quickly to grab a bite to eat.
I get back from walking to get take out from a restaurant down the street around 8:25 PM, and as my room was now cooled down, I ate and went to bed watching TV.
At about 10:30 PM, I wake to a knock at my door. I get my bearings and answer door to see the AC maintenance associate back wanting to check unit. Extremely tired, I welcome him back in as it was feeling warm-ish again. He said that the error code was displayed yet again. He reaches back under unit, and resets it again. He was nice and asked if I wanted to change rooms. It was again cooling off, and I decided as it was late and I was very tired, I was just ready for him to go so I could get rested for the early day I had ahead. He apologized, said that he may need to replace the AC in the morning and went on his way.
I awoke the next morning with it very hot and muggy in there, and when checking out, I told the lady at front desk the problems from previous evening. She clearly didn't appear happy to be there, and asked me if I wanted a receipt. I told her yes, so she handed it to me and simply said, "I'll let someone know about your room."
At that point, I was ready to rush out to my car and kick on the AC, as I was already heavily sweating.
Overall, I would highly recommend Hilton hotels, as out of all of my previous stays, this was only bad experience. You never know what is going on in someone else's world, and I'll stay there again.
PS - I still haven't seen the 15,000 Hilton Honors point I won, however, they did add 2,396 points for my 1 night stay.
