Hampton Inn Washington, D.C./White House

Great location and property, very kind staff. Close to Metro station, 2 blocks from the White House. Felt very safe and clean. Breakfast was good; my daughter loved the cinnamon roll batter for the waffles! The room was great for our family of 4. The only complaint is the shower curtains were a bit short, allowing water all over the floor if you didn't get it situated just right. There is street noise since you are downtown but it wasn't disruptive to us. We came from spending 4 days in a convention hotel; the smaller size of this hotel was a welcome change. We would 100% stay here again on a future DC trip.

I enjoyed my stay here and found it quite comfortable. The room was great, and the bed was comfortable. Location wasn't the best at night, but I felt okay walking around. Just gets quiet after 5 p.m., with not a lot of folks walking around. Found a lovely food hall nearby. Excellent front desk staff and really nice breakfast. It is close to the metro which is a huge plus. I will definitely be back!

Location of this place is perfect. Close to the subway, white house all the museums and monuments is really close to everything. Even good bars nearby. For the location/comfort and the date i visited price was fair.The rooms are ok and the staff is nice and polite. Breakfast was good. The pool looks like it has never been use and it doesn’t gets cleaned often. If im back in DC i will definitely book here again. I liked it and i recommend it

This was a nice hotel with a few minor inconveniences… while the room/bathroom was clean (#1 on my list) the toilet ran constantly, the bathroom was very small (more than one person could not be in there at the same time), the water pressure in the shower was awful (almost non-existent), the toilet paper holder fell off the wall with the first pull of tp (second one was just barely attached), the AC had a constant water dripping noise, the sink leaked below, and the rooms were only cleaned every other day (maybe a Hampton policy?). The lobby was clean, the front desk attendants were super nice, and the breakfast bar was good. Room 309 definitely needs some attention… once ya’ll do that, it’ll be perfect!

Good comfortable bright hotel with helpful staff and excellent location. Breakfast was adequate but reliance on throwaway catering (paper ware and plastic cutlery) disappointing. Could be great with proper focus on breakfast experience with reusable ware.

First, I'm not a demanding person. I am in the hospitality industry and appreciate how hard running a hotel can be. I also want to start with the positives: Great location and very close to everything one would want to see while in DC. The breakfast was also above average with different items mixed in each day. The negatives: The rooms were quite small and the pool is a joke (think large bathtub). I was on the 7th floor (same view of the Dumpster as a previous review showed), which was an issue because the window locks were broken (yes they can be opened) and noise was prominent. But the worst part by far was the water pressure. Showering was nearly impossible and on our last day a letter was posted that they would be replacing the water pump to address the problem I guess. Checking out also became a problem when they try to overcharge Us by $300 because they did not factor in points. Then they ran our car twice stating it was declined when we called the credit card company they confirmed they have been approved and all of a sudden the manager stated it was approved without touching a key or doing anything else. It felt very shady. It seemed like a lot of people were having problems as every time we walked through the lobby someone was angry. Overall it's probably fine for a day or two but when you're staying 5 days the issues Mount up. I did not complain and just dealt with it but the final straw was the checkout process.

I have a bit of a niche case, but the hotel was aware that it would come up for many people and refused to make the situation right. I drive a manual transmission car, and your only option for parking is to pay for valet or find a public garage with overnight service. I was fine paying for valet ($51/night for cars, less for hybrids and other vehicles) but after I’d agreed to valet, they told me the evening valet attendant was unable to drive manual transmission cars so I would have to park myself. This meant I got to see the rates the garage public garage the hotel contracts with charged for parking, and it maxed out at $20, a handsome $31 (likely more) profit for Hampton! I asked at checkout if the hotel could adjust their “valet” rate since I had to valet my own car, and they refused saying the $51 was the normal overnight rate at the garage and that covered security, etc while the valet was just an extra they threw in. I don’t think you could be more deceptive! I would have appreciated honesty and being upfront from the first night letting me know the situation so I could have made a different choice. The things the lady at the desk said were simply untrue- the garage had no night guard, so what security was I paying for? The hotel charged differently for different types of cars, so $51 couldn’t be the rate set by the garage, but was arbitrary and could be what they wanted. I’ll give the morning valet attendant credit, he was the only one who seemed to care that I was disappointed by the poor service and misinformation and he offered to help with bags and to try to get my car, but by then, I was eager to leave and not find another way for the hotel to charge me more. Traveller beware- don’t drive here or find a different place to stay. Hampton at the DC White House is not above lying to take your money from you. I’ll spend more to avoid staying here in the future and let others know to do the same.

Room was good and clean. But hot water ran out the first day when 1 person had a shower. It was fixed after 30mins or so once we let the staff know. Coffee machine stopped working but they replaced after a call. They act very promptly. Good service overall. Very close to nearest bus stop/ train station and convenient if you are taking public transport to Washington DC. Breakfast was very good and had lots of options. They have coffee/ tea in the lobby all day for guests which is very nice. I highly recommend this place to anyone who is traveling Washington DC.
