Loved this place! The food was delicious, quite simple even, but that made it so authentic. The simplicity makes it very interesting. Besides kind waitresses, good ambiances and good food, you don’t need much else really. Would recommend!

Google
Very good food, but there is no wow effect that I expected based on the reviews. Zucchini cream soup is nice. Prices are average, except water. Tap water costs 20 zloty (almost 5 eur) per litre.

Fleur Scheper

Google
Super friendly waitress who helped us. The place itself has a very nice atmosphere. The food was delicious!

Google
Spend about 5-10 minutes on the entrance to be observed by one of the waiters, and finally we have been sited to a table. The service was ok. Food was ok cooked but nothing more. You need a code to access the toilets!?

Google
The best meal we had in Krakow, all the food was superb, especially the mazze platter and the lamb tagine. We had eaten at a Michelin restaurant the night before and the food was a patch on this. We saw the restaurant when out walking on a tour of the Jewish quarter and is very close to the only operating synagogue in Krakow.

Google
BRING TAHINI SAUCE BACK, PLEASE! I’ve been enjoying hummus and kebab here since at least 2018. There have been some changes to the menu but tahini sauce was always there. This time around, instead of tahini sause you get a creamy pepper sauce similar to steak sauce to go with your shishkebab. It’s a huge disappointment and doesn’t truly complement the dish in taste, in my opinion. Please bring tahini sauce back. It’s been perfect and perfection doesn’t need to be updated - at least give us an option to choose tahini or other sauce. Finally, the hummus portion size reduced in half in the last year or so 🥲 all in all, as a newcomer you will most likely still be happy not knowing what you are missing but as a regular over the years not as happy anymore. First photo 2024 vs previous years.

Google
We stayed in Kraków for 4 days and came here 3 times. That's how amazing this food was. If you can get anything here, get the best salad and the spicy hummus. The best salad had some seeds and smoked goat cheese on it and is served with the most delicious bread. Now you take that bread and you dip it in the spicy hummus and you've got the winning ticket. Our last time there we both got kababs and they were so moist and flavorful. I'd literally come back to Poland to come here again.

Google
Beautiful and very authentic place.Cuisine was awesome and the taste of food was excellent.Especially hummus and the stew of lamb was incredible delicious.Amount of meal was huge ,service good.I highly recommend this place.

Yelp
What a great find. Everything we had was amazing. Portions were giant but the quality did not suffer. Hamsa is in a beautiful building and the dining rooms are intimate but not crowded.

Yelp
What an absolutely beautiful place, whether you sit on the charming patio, inside, or the back tables that face a beautiful square this place is a gem. The food was outstanding and the service was friendly and welcoming. Forgot to take more photos!

Yelp
This restaurant serves "modernized" Middle Eastern food. Since we were not super hungry, we just ordered a combination mezze plate and a grilled seabass, plus some baklava. We were really happy with what we got. The three types of mezzes all taste great but different. The grilled fish was very flavorful. The baklava was the best I've had in a long time.

Yelp
Came here while walking in the Old Jewish Quarter. Had the lamb kebab with vegetables and hummus. Recommend this restaurant if In Krakow, Poland.

Deb M.

Yelp
Hamsa has a beautiful courtyard and a few table facing the square. We ate outside and enjoyed a delicious sun dried tomato basil Hummus to start. Service was excellent. Portion sizes are generous. I had a very tasty chicken kabob with cous cous and veggies. Highly recommend among all the other pushy offerings in the square.

Yelp
Excellent food, beautifully presented and inexpensive. Lovely setting for outdoor eating! Pleasant and efficient service!!

Yelp
Excellent restaurant in really nice location in the heart of the Jewish district in Krakow, The interior and exterior are really nice and well-furnished. Chairs are comfortable, tables are clean and disinfected after every guest. Waiter was really kind and cheerful. He told me a few things about dishes and advised me (on point). Food was very tasty, flavourful and well presented. I can literally recommend everything because I tried many things and everything was good and in the end I was satisfied and filled up. Huge thanks to the waiter that did his best to provide me with a memorable experience . Prices are typical for good restaurant with nice can be a little higher for the city but absolutely worth. The place is well decorated and very instgramable . Excellent pics can be added to #makehummusnotwar lol

Yelp
We've been here twice this week (once for lunch, once dinner) and enjoyed both times very much. Had both beet salads for lunch, perfect quantity and very tasty. The beet carpaccio was both our favorite. For dinner I had the sweet potato and sheep's cheese salad... really unusual and delicious. The cheese is from their private farm. Hubby had the Stirfry option (veggie dish with bulgur wheat) which was good but a bit dry. Service was on point both times, atmosphere is relaxed and pleasant (we sat outside under awning both times)... felt like a friend's cozy backyard at a casual summer party. Prices felt reasonable. Happy!

Yelp
3.5 stars! You've gotta love the laid-back, colorful atmosphere inside Hamsa--it's a world away from the almost dreary architecture of Kazimierz, Krakow's former Jewish quarter, but what a fitting place for a restaurant that combines the best of Israeli, North African, and Middle Eastern cuisine! The first thing I jumped right to on the menu was the mezze set menu, which is served on a plate in the shape of a hand with five sections. Two are filled with pickles (radishes, cucumbers, chilies), the middle circle with olives, and the other three with your choice of dips! I tried the muhammara (red pepper walnut dip), the hummus with spicy harissa, and the labneh balls covered in za'atar. While not bad, the muhammara was a bit on the bland side, and the hummus was quite watery and didn't have the creamy texture I like from a good Israeli hummus. But the pita that came with the plate was simply divine--hot, fresh, grilled on the outside, fluffy on the inside! We also had the Israeli lamb kebab, which came with three skewers of minced lamb, served over bulgur, pita, and a salad, along with tahini and another creamy sauce on the side--the skewers were grilled to perfection and spiced so nicely! Finally, we had the sweet potato and sheep's cheese salad, which had a base of arugula and came with a sweet treacle (molasses) dressing--this was delicious as well, and the grilled halloumi added such a nice earthiness to the salad. Every dish here was definitely tasty, though the two dips I had fell a bit short. Nevertheless, this makes for a great place for a casual meal at fair prices! Of the dishes we had, my favorite as the lamb kebab, but whatever you do, don't miss the pita!

Yelp
4.5 stars. Excellent experience on every aspect. FOOD: 4.0. - 3 mezzo combo for 2 people: 5.0. Included pickles, and plenty of middle eastern bread. We chose lemon puree, falafel, and babaganoush. - Shish kabab: 4.0. Chicken kababs served with fresh salad - excellent arugula with cucumbers. - Dessert - baklava: 5.0. We had one small piece each. Flaky crust with plenty of yummy filling. - BEDOUIN COFFEE with fresh-ground cardomon: 5.0. Had never heard of it but loved it. We are normally dark roast black coffee drinkers and loved the Bedouin Coffee. - WINE: 3.0. Israeli red wine. Was ok, but next time I'll probably have beer. SERVICE: 4.5. Fast, friendly, and genuine. AMBIANCE: 4.5. High arched ceilings, cloth light covers for the hanging lamps, color photos of people in movement on the walls, plenty of greenery. And a live band later in the evening.

Yelp
Great Israeli food in the heart of the Krakow Jewish Quarter! After a long day of sightseeing, you can say I felt enlightened to eat something "Jewish," so Hamsa came to the rescue. I had the fish soup which was fantastic and a rather large portion. It was slightly spicy too and they didn't skimp on the protein! I also had the bulgur stir fry which was fine, nothing special but it was good too. My only criticism is that the prices are slightly high for what you get, but remember, Polish currency isn't the same as USD. Still, compared to other places this is a bit more than what I've been spending elsewhere. Overall, great place, good food, cute atmosphere!

Jon B.

Yelp
The food here is very delicious, and the staff are very friendly. Very nice casual outdoor seating with plenty of shade. They have excellent sauces with high quality ingredients. The chef here is exceptional, I tried a delicious citrus yogurt sauce that had a hint of sweetness in it, very surprised to find out banana was the secret ingredient. Yum!

Yelp
Fantastic Mediterranean food in Krakow. We started with a mezze plate (pictured) which was delicious. The falafel was light and well seasoned. Hummus was smooth. Then we shared a chicken kebab and shakshuka. Both good. I could have eaten the entire kebab by myself. Sooo tasty! For dessert a delicious pudding - oh the name escapes me - unlike anything I'd tasted before. Service was quick and friendly. Menus and service available in English.

Joanna T.

Yelp
Hamsa was a nice break for us during a vacation filled with pierogies. They have a beautiful, modern, well lit space inside of a beautiful older building on the main Kazimierz square. I like that they offer a build your own mezze option - you pick from a good sized list of delicious hot and cold choices. We went with pomegranate seed hummus (very unique), baba ganoush (nice and smoky) and falafel (meh - a little mealy and obviously reheated). Portions were very generous and pesented beautifully on colorful dishes. For a main, we split one of their specials - spicy lamb meatballs served in a tagine. The sauce was well seasoned and the meatballs were wonderful - not rubbery at all and full of flavor. Everything we had was fresh and delicious. My one knock is that prices here seem to be on the higher end as compared to other places we tried in the area, but the quality is high.

Nyceats W.

Yelp
Expected better from an Israeli restaurant in the Jewish Ghetto area. Overpriced and not worth the trek. Waitress was rude, like she is doing me a favor to eat at Hamsa. The Pastrami sandwich for 49 zlotych (about $13 usd) was all dried out and inedible. Hummus was good but not for the price. I don't recommend to eat here.

Elizabeth L.

Yelp
Aside from the fact that I am pretty much obsessed with Hamsas, I am completely obsessed with this restaurant. I visited hamsa during my adventures abroad and I don't have enough great things to say! Let's start with the ambiance. It's a so cute and pleasant inside! The service was great as well. Now let's talk important stuff... the food. I Love Israeli food and Hamsa did not disappoint! We got the hamsa plate to share that came with hummus, falafel, and an assortment of pickled veggies. Definitely a great dish to share on the table and the layout of It is great! For my main course I got the pita that was stuffed with grilled veggies. I was a big fan! If you are visiting Poland, you won't regret stopping by Hamsa!

Rhea P.

Yelp
The music drew me in. . . along with outside seating. Enjoyed the food. Service was friendly, and I did not feel rushed through the meal. Great experience!

Kelly S.

Yelp
Delicious, welcoming, and wonderful. I'm still dreaming about their beet/goat cheese salad! Don't hesitate to fly to Poland just for this restaurant! The hummus and baba ghanoush are to die for.

Jeanette L.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this place during Easter weekend since the restaurant we initially wanted to dine at was completely booked. Hamsa came to the rescue and definitely maintained our lovely experience in Krakow. It is a great place to enjoy a meal during your time in Krakow. Located in the Jewish district, this Israeli restaurant offers a variety of delicious entrees and craft beers. The restaurant itself is well decorated and pretty spacious. When we came here, the main dining room was full so they seated us in the second room which was across the hall. No worries though, this didnt affect the good service we received :) Def recommend!

C C.

Yelp
Excellent food at decent prices. We had the lamb tagine (enough for two) and the hummus with harissa (pretty spicy). Service was fast and friendly. I would definitely recommend.

Anasofia T.

Yelp
The food was really great! However I was really upset with the service! The waitress was instantly annoyed with us because we were a larger group. When we told her we wanted to pay separately she put her hands over he face and said "Please no!" Overall the service was awful! Paying became so stressful and we didn't feel welcome!

Marcelina B.

Yelp
This place represensts a very nice combination of traditional and new Israeli food and ambience. They have an interior area and a charming garden with modern isreali music played in the background. The restaurant is espacially popular for its hamsa hand sets that you can order in an opition: small, medium and large (3, 6 or 9 different ingradients from the menu). Each set consists additionaly of olives, pickles, paprica and pita bread. The sets give a possibility to try a lot of different things at once - falafel, hummus, baba ganoush and much more. If you go there only in 2 persons I advise to choose a small set as medium one is way to large already ! ;) Apart from hamsa sets I laso enjoyed their burekas, really tasty!

Susan L.

Yelp
We'd walked by this restaurant several times and today we ate a late lunch there. The exterior is attractive and there's outdoor seating, but it was very warm and therefore we opted to eat indoors. I ordered the spinach & feta burekas (25.80 PLN) - and since it was plural, naturally I assumed there would be more than one (not so). It was delicious, but still....my husband ordered the Akko hummus (14.20 PLN) & the tabuleh salad (13.60 PLN) and his food was also delicious, including the pita bread. Also, there was free WiFi (albeit slow) and the restrooms were clean. The reasons why I'm not giving a higher rating are because the service was quite lackadaisical - including the fact that our server seemed annoyed when we didn't order anything else (!) - and because there was continually-blasting music.

Lisa V.

Yelp
Delicious food. I have a gluten and dairy sensitivity and was able to order hummus, babaganoush and falaffel that were gluten and dairy free. Delicious! The service was also fantastic. I highly recommend this place!!!

Suzanne G.

Yelp
Some of the most delicious hummus we've ever tasted. If you have to queue for a table, it's time well spent. Friendly staff, relaxed service.

Aa-Ron L.

Yelp
A delicious varied menu. Located in a suiting location in the Jewish quarter of Krakow. Very pleasantly decorated with fresh plants everywhere and artsy Israeli/Mediterranean touches. Service was delightful and prices extremely reasonable relative to portions and from a non-Polish Perspective. The fried cheese was delicious. Everything fresh and beautifully served.

Xiaoting X.

Yelp
Tasty Middle Eastern food. Good hummus, almost as good as the ones we got in Israel. Love the soups on a cold day. Other dishes were great too. Would recommend to a friend.

Ward A.

Yelp
We enjoyed humus with pomegranate seeds, falafel, and homemade flatbread. The beet and goat cheese salad was great. We also had the kabob: grilled chicken on skewers. (Note: the English translation on the menu says chicken drumsticks but they are chunks of chicken grilled on a skewer as you'd expect a kabob to be) it was also nice to have drinks served with ice.

Judd J.

Yelp
This place looks pretty...rustic from the outside. It's a little close quarters on the inside. But WOW, the food and the staff are phenomenal! Typically, I'm not a fan of buffets, but this food was fresh and well prepared. The staff was very friendly and very patient when we asked questions about the food and menus. Go check this place out!

Kelly O.

Yelp
This place is lovely looking, with lots of green plants and cool art on the walls. The plates that the meze come in are shaped like a hamsa and are so pretty. Despite this, I was disappointed in the food. We got hummus with pine nuts and pomegranate, a salsa-like dip, za'atar covered balls of labneh cheese, and cornichons, olives, and pickled peppers. We also got three types of bread, including pita. The pita got hard immediately, and the other two breads were a bit dry. I've been to other Israeli restaurants where someone walks around and gives you bread as you eat, this way it is still hot and doesn't have a chance to get hard. The dips were good, but not great. I've had similar food before that is just so much more delicious. It simply was not noteworthy. We also got a soup that was ok. The prices are a little higher than we normally pay (I usually frequent budget restaurants). It's a little pricey for Krakow.

Rute M.

Yelp
Fresh, bright and with rhythm is how I can describe this new and attractive place.. I was there for the food but the decoration was also very convidative, with white and blue motives, pictures hanging on the wall and Israeli music. The 2 rooms can get crowded on a week day and menu has a LOT of choices, healthy and tasty. I chose the breakfast Morroccan wrap (includes tea, coffee or juice), with lentiles rice for a side dish, it also can be as a lunch. Also try the salads and humus, a must in the menu. Prices are ok and everything is so fresh and delicious and very well presented!

C E.

Yelp
Great outdoor space. They have blankets and heat lamps. Hamsa beer was great so was the hummus with harissa paste.

Emil N.

Yelp
I had hummus for starter and the Israeli kebab for the main, and the bread was really dry in both dishes. The meat had nice flavor to it, but was crumbling and falling apart. The sauces were flavorless and contributed with not much more than trying to moisture the bread. The service was swift and the price was on the average. They have a selection of Israeli wines and some local Polish beers.

Kristin V.

Yelp
Get the hand of hummus!!!! We had the most amazing hummus, original, sun dried tomato, mint, Turkish salad, falafel. Fun and tasty!!!!

Jon Ø.

Yelp
A must visit when in the Krakow Jewish quarter. Good food from the Middle East and North Africa, plus an excellent atmosphere and service.

Amy K.

Yelp
Ate in the Grotto - intimate and relaxing setting. Service was amazing - so kind and attentive Hummus presentation was beautiful and tasted perfect. Red wine delicious. We loved it. Even bought a tee shirt!! Highly recommend. Great vibe

Melissa E.

Yelp
Tasty food and great service. We struggled a bit to figure out what to order, but the staff was helpful!

Nicola C.

Yelp
Hamsa is eye catching and refreshingly different, we just couldn't help but be entranced by the huge hamsa hand motif and the slogan 'hummus and happiness.' Hamsa's an Israeli cafe serving fresh food and hummus (of course!) in the Jewish quarter of Krakow. We sat in the large outdoor area which was super chilled with cushions, chinese lantern style lights and plants. Now, to say I'm a fan of hummus is soft. I LOVE HUMMUS. We went for a hummus dish with garlic and lemon along with some pitta for dipping. So generous and tasty. Perfect as a sharing snack. Mmm. Hummus heaven! And a perfect laid-back stop for tea!

Stephanie W.

Yelp
Best dinner I have had here in Cracow! Portions are VERY large- so order accordingly! (Dishes that say for 2 could easily feed 3 or 4) Being gluten and dairy free, it has been really hard for me to find accommodating restaurants, but here they labeled "gf, mf, vg, vgn" (gluten free, milk free, vegetarian, vegan). Highly recommend

Alex A.

Yelp
Nothing to write home about. I had a hummus and bean spread both not enough garlic and bland. My boyfriend had chicken shish kebab which was decent. Pricy for what you get. I had better hummus from a supermarket and it's definitely not Israeli at all.

Emma O.

Yelp
The first restaurant we visited on our trip and it did not disappoint! We shared a huge chicken tagine done the 'polish' way with onion and cherrys, and it was incredible. The portion was huge, even for two! We also had two hummus' to start (you just have to here) and they were so creamy, authentic and ruddy delicious!

Maja R.

Yelp
Really nice place with amazing food. The falafels are a must! I shared a mezze set with a group of 6 and it was the perfect amount. Nice aesthetic, very pretty plating - good for pics! Cute garden and plenty of inside seating. I will be coming back!!

Colin M.

Yelp
Hamsa has a very pleasant interior. I opted to have the so-called Near-East Chicken. It was served with seasoned red rice, some parsnips and a salad. Portion size was quite generous, the food was tasty and I went away quite satisfied. Prices are a little on the high side. The meal I had came in at just under 40ZL (including a beer), but many of the other menu options were around the 50ZL mark. Some of the friends I went with weren't quite so impressed, rating the place and the food as merely adequate, but weren't able to put their finger on exactly was not quite as it should be. "Good, but no wow factor" was the sort of thing they were saying. But, I would certainly go again without too much hesitation.

Nick S.

Yelp
Hamsa (hummus and happiness) is a restaurant you really want to like but no matter how much you want to like it, it manages to disappoint. The decor is pleasant, especially outside in summer, the service is good and the menu appealing. But then the food arrives and it is not up to the quality of good middle eastern cuisine. Today the tabouleh was disappointing and the portion ludicrously small. The lamb in the tagine was cooked to perfection but they had forgotten to add any flavour whatsoever. Today was my last attempt at eating there but may have a beer sometime in the garden.

Paige L.

Yelp
I give this fantastic restaurant 4 stars. I would give it five but the service I found to be slow and not continuous. We had to go up to that bar to pay instead of at the table. I got the falafel, fried cheese and the standard hummus. The falafel was very and the friend cheese came with four pieces. The hummus comes with 2 large pieces of pita bread and 2 pieces of another kind of bread.

Katarzyna S.

Aizat K.

Yelp
Good food, but rude staff!!! I read about this place a lot. But honestly, in my opinion, this place is overrated!

Roy M.

Yelp
Go for lunch, but you might be disappointed if you go for your evening meal. All the hummuses, couscous and dips are delicious. The lamb Tagine was cooked perfectly, the lamb fell apart, and the veg was amazing, but it lacked a lot of flavour. The lamb has no taste which was very disappointing. The chicken dish was very nice though. If you're coming here for gluten free food (it's listed on many sites as a good gluten free place), then prepare to be slightly underwhelmed. As most of the dishes benefit from the application of a good flat bread, you'll be saddened when they bring out 2 small slices of standard 'bezgluten' bread; the same bread you've got lying in your apartment for your morning toast. Decore is nice enough. Some of the pictures on the walls are a bit odd. Some of the images feel like massively enlarged holiday snaps that wouldn't make it into your photo album. But the windows and the plants growing around them are cute and the serving area is a pleasant view. They also have high chairs for children.

Celeste S.

Yelp
Was intrigued to go into Hamsa with there 'Hummus and Happiness' logo out the front. Very warm and comfortable space, I really like the tiling about the bar and the little details at the table. We ordered the small mezze plate suitable for 2-3 people and were spoilt for hummus choices. We choose sun dried tomato hummus, falafel and babganush. It can with plenty of bread, picked, chilli and olives. For a dish designed for pre meal it was very filling. Staff were friendly and attentive. Defiantly recommend all to go when in Krakow.
