Where to Eat, Stay, and Play in Chattanooga

"Just five minutes north of the Lookout Mountain Incline Railway, adventurers with an appetite should stop into Han Mi to wrap spicy tteokbokki in pillowy panjeon before tucking into spicy drums of Korean fried chicken; spice levels span from traditional sweet and savory soy garlic to slightly spicier Mongolian Eradicator, to Emotional Damage."

Google
Wonderful food, wonderful service! I got the Noodle Stir Fry. Very hot and very tasty. I was greeted and checked on by 3 different people while I was visiting. Staff here seemingly enjoys the process, each other, and their environment.

Google
I heard great things about Han-Mi online, so I decided to come in with my wife on a Sunday evening. It was busy but they had plenty of seating to accommodate. We were told one of the fryers were down, and to expect that the food may come out slower. We appreciated this heads up. Tried the fried calamari with white sauce. It was alright but could use more seasoning and an additional sauce to add more flavor. I had the Bulgogi bowl and my wife had the pork cutlet. Both were excellent! Be prepared for a large portion of food. Google reviews spoke highly of their banana putting and after trying it ourselves, I'd say it lived up to the hype. The edible bowl was an awesome added touch. We look forward to trying more of the menu on a future visit.

Google
Excellent Korean food. Lots of different options to choose from. Service is great! We brought our dogs and sat at the outdoor patio and they brought a water bowl for our dogs.

Google
Fantastic flavor, excellent service, chill vibes. A great off the beaten path spot that feels fresh and cared for. Had the fried chicken with 2 different flavor sauces and some kimchi. Delicious!

Google
The food is SO GOOD! I have not had much food like this before so I started with one of the top recommended dishes, the Korean Fried Chicken. I got the Mongolian sauce, which is a bit spicy, but so so good and flavorful! It's honestly one of the best meals I've had in Chattanooga. Also, the portion was huge (great value for the price but kinda wish they had a smaller option for lunch or a half order). I also tried the dumplings and asked for the Mongolian sauce on the side. The service was excellent, too. Highly recommend! Can't wait to go back to try the Ramen and other options on the menu.

Google
I knew that the food was going to be great when I saw the mini garden in the back. Very fast and absolutely delicious 😋

Google
It’s was ok. We had mando, Korean fried chicken, and dtuboki (I’m sure I misspelled everything). We ate in the outside area which was loud due to the highway being so close. Best part was the service. Nice and attentive waiter.

Google
This is my first review of anything on google. This place is worth of try definitely. I had their chicken and loved it. I ordered another to-go of chicken for my son at home while I was eating my own chicken. The lady who waited my table was well deserved the tip, also!

Yelp
The best Korean Fried Chicken!!! Spicy tangy is the flavor to go with. I've probably been here 20 times. The bulgogi, pork cutlet, and dumplings are amazing. I'm not a fan of Kim-chi so I can't tell you if theirs is good but I've heard great things from my friends. Homy atmosphere (literally in what looks like a former house), kind and friendly staff. One of my fav spots in Chatt.

Yelp
This restaurant gave my family mixed feelings. The flavor of every dish we ordered was great and as we expected it to be. The service was fine, nothing that stood out as great but we also never felt like our table was forgotten about. The ambiance was weird, the overall vibe was relaxed and casual but some walls were decorated like the intended audience was teens and younger crowds while other walls seemed fake traditional. We were very disappointed with the bbq options as we have never before encountered a place that rice and banchan are an additional charge. Also the very limited selection of sides was a bit disappointing. Overall our breakdown is : Flavor 5 stars Ambiance 3 stars Value for price 2 stars

Yelp
Was honestly pretty disappointed. Grew up eating korean food and been to korea many times so I'm very familiar with the cuisines. I understand this was labeled as more of a "korean-american fusion" restaurant but Ive been to many Korean fusion restaurants and this was not anywhere close to what I've had before. I'll start with the good stuff. Service was quick during lunch hrs. Sauce on the tteokbokki could use a little more spice in my opinion but otherwise pretty good. Now things that need improvement. First, I'd dial down the cook time on all your noodle dishes. All were over cooked. Especially the udon noodles. If they're overcooked they get starchy and just leaves a powdery texture which is unpleasant. (Like drinking the bottom last oz of a protein shake) And I would recommend adding a little beef broth or some salt at least (add msg if you have to) to the jjajangmeong. Just heavy in bean paste and not much flavor. Also linguine is probably not the best noodles to use for the dish either. Had high expectations from the ratings but sadly they were obviously people who've never left the Chattanooga area and tasted what real korean food is.

Yelp
It was decent for where I am. It's not exactly authentic Korean food. But I am in Chattanooga where people think dominos is pizza. Decent meal, just beware the prices are tad higher than most places around. Personally I don't care as long as food is good.

Yelp
Food is amazing. The wait staff very friendly. Andrew was very kind and attentive. Can't wait to come back and try more off of menu. Definitely best Korean food in Chattanooga.

Yelp
My go-to Korean restaurant. Just a cute lil mom and pop. It's not AYCE. Authentic Korean dishes. My favorite is the fish cakes and the pork collar.

Yelp
Our dinner was absolutely delicious. We had the Korean fried chicken & dork cutlet. So glad we discovered this gem in Chatts & we're looking forward to many return visits. Also, very friendly staff.

Yelp
We found this little place and it's more like what I call HEAVILY Korean Inspired. But that's not a bad thing. The inside is nothing fancy, but their service is great and so is their food! DO NOT BE FOOLED BY APPEARANCES :) Let me say, I was totally impressed - all the flavour combinations in all the dishes just popped! Here is my how to thrive guide for Han Mi. First, you order the appetizer fries. Fries, you say? Yes, I say. But these aren't ordinary fries. These are stab your mama in the face with a fork fries because she's trying to eat the last bite! Korean-esque perfection with caramelized onions, caramelized Kim-chi, and all sorts of goodness. If you don't like these I would suggest that, when you leave the restaurant you immediately seek mental health advice because you are crazy! Next I turn your attention to the entrees. Might I highly recommend the KFC (Korean Fried Chicken). Select your heat with caution - I went in for the Tears of Joy and barely survived. Order the "Emotional Damage" only if you seek an out of body experience or need to reminisce with your ancestors. We also ordered their highly recommended Noodle Stir Fry - amazing flavour, still spicy hot, but that's the thing - no matter how spicy anything was the flavours were just exceptional. For the finale I'd suggest the ice cream sandwich - don't be shocked! It's a magical combination of very good vanilla ice cream and a layer of delicious red bean paste. Beside, you're going to need it to temper all that spice - I promise you! In fact, I'd probably have them bring me an ice cream sandwich along with the KFC (just a tip)!

Yelp
Pretty decent korean food in the area if you're craving. There's only 1 staff getting orders and he is fast as he can. No complaints. We ordered as pictured.

Yelp
We came here with high expectations because our in-laws who live here said this place was great. Last time we visited Chattanooga, we didn't have time to stop. We waited 2 months and the first thing we did when we came back was going to Han-Mi! Well, it is clearly not a traditional korean food. The nicest way to put it is an Americanized Korean inspired restaurant. Both food and service were underwhelming. I think if you never have traditional Korean food before, you might like this place.
google avatar

Wei W.

Yelp
We ordered a bunch of food so we can all share and try it all The best was fried chicken(sweet and tangy) and bibimbop, Our kids wanted some Kimchi fried rice, but it was way too spicy for him, and even for adults, it's at the point not enjoyable level, if you are planning to order kimchi fried rice, be mindful, ask about spice level It's not bad for quick bite or friends hangout spot, something small and unique We really wanted jjamppong and jajangmyeon, unfortunately the time we went they didn't have that

Yelp
Another visit at Hanh-Mi and Hanh-mi never miss! Food came out quick and is delicious.

Yelp
amazing for everything! the korean fried chicken super good, the toppokki and odeng is so authentic and the ribeye with side dish is superb! the services is excellent. accomodate the food restriction that we have and the ambiance also nice! we will go back!

Yelp
My girlfriend and I decided to try this hole in the wall Korean restaurant after finishing up with Lookout Mountain. Definitely did not expect this place to be this delicious! First step inside, I notice that the inside is quite small with limited seating but the server cared to us quite quickly with our drinks and order. He also was helpful in selecting the sides and sauce choice for my Korean fried chicken! We were able to choose 4 different sides for only $4, what a deal! The tteokbokki was tasty and spicy. They definitely were not lying when they said it was spicy! I chose the Korean Fried Chicken with the Mongolian sauce. Server said the sauce was supposed to be spicy but it actually wasn't spicy much but it did have good flavor! And the chicken itself was fried to perfection! I've never had such juicy and flavorful fried chicken, highly recommend it! My girlfriend chose the spicy ramyeon and added bulgogi, dumplings, and an egg! Broth wasn't too spicy either, just a tad but the dumplings and bulgogi were amazing additions to the ramyeon! Highly recommend trying this spot out after coming from Lookout mountain or Ruby falls since it's so close! Decent amount of parking options outside as well but I do recommend not coming at prime hours because it can get packed quick inside!

Yelp
Food is always great, servers are helpful and nice, bar is cool and drink menu is fun. Also if you don't feel like spending much. You can't beat this $6 Ramen

Yelp
The place is small but the food are all good, I read the review online and gave it a try and it was really good. The service also friendly.

Yelp
So far we've enjoyed every visit! The IceBirdys Fries were my favorite this time. Cheesy and spicy with fresh jalapeños and kimchi. Really yummy

Yelp
10/10 would recommend this place. Food is delicious and authentically spicy if you like it that way. Great service!

Yelp
This is a nice Korean mom-and-pop shop! The decor was minimal, but the customer service was great. We ordered Korean Fried Chicken, Pork Belly Wraps, Pork Cutlet, Noodle Stir-Fry (Dak-Galbi), and Trimtab Raspberry Sour Berliner Weisse. I'm not a huge beer person, so maybe that's why I didn't like the latter; it had a tart taste. My favorite entree was the Korean Fried Chicken; the chunks of meat were sealed with some great flavors! The Pork Belly Wraps had way too many greens, but the meat itself was cooked well. The Dak-Galbi had too much sauce but otherwise, it was a decent dish, too. For the portion sizes, I felt like the prices were on the higher end. The cuisine here is more of a Korean-American fusion and overall, our experience was pretty good.

Yelp
We finally got around to trying Han Mi and we're not disappointed! We went for lunch on a Wednesday and it was comfortably busy. Not too busy that service was slow, but just busy enough for you to know that the food was going to be good. As a matter of fact the service was perfect. I wanted to try everything, but settled on the bibimbap with pork. We had a table by a window and I enjoyed admiring their jade plant while we waited for the food. The bibimbap was so good. The pork had amazing flavors, all of the vegetables contributed nicely to the dish and it had the most perfect fried egg ever! We hope to go back when it's a little cooler and sit out on the patio. Will definitely be back, there is so much I want to try!

Yelp
We went to ruby falls and looked around to eat for lunch. Found this random Korean restaurant on Google maps. We were skeptical to try because a Korean restaurant out of nowhere lol. We are from Houston where there is a huge Asian cuisines and we have good food too. Turned out to be way more than we anticipated. The only exception of the vegetarian dish was way too salty. My friend had to dip her salted tofu in the water to flush off the salt The rest of the food was good. I loved my pork cutlet Maybe the chef should look into the tofu dish
google avatar

Mary T.

Yelp
Great food. Menu changes often so there is always something new to try. The owners are there everyday in the kitchen and talking with customers. Their whole team are very neighborly and chatty. Its a locals gem. The parking lot and exterior are a little ruff looking, but inside is homey and clean. Oh! Even if the parking lot looks full the restaurant oftentimes still has seating so you can park nearby.

Yelp
It is indeed a hole in the wall, but when I saw it so highly recommended on Nextdoor, I thought we'd give it a try. The weather was crappy so my order was a carry-out and while I waited, the bartender shared a bit of history behind the place, as well as his impressions before going to work there, when he was a patron. Good conversation over a cold beer and a pint was just right, for allowing the prep of our orders. The aroma on the drive home was overwhelming, and the taste was even better than the smell. While I'm not really an expert on Korean food, I will tell you the two entrees we got were absolutely delicious. Great value for the money!

Yelp
Great lunch stop on our way back home to Florida. Good food and friendly service. Go check them out!
google avatar

Elizabeth B.

Yelp
Absolutely blown away by the quality of food here. The braised tofu was unreal, and the radish kimchi really brought the whole dish together. My fiancé had the dumpling soup, and we both wiped our dishes clean. Chattanooga is lucky to have this spot! We will be back!
google avatar

Hannah H.

Yelp
Literally best Korean I have ever eaten. The spice is no joke. We wanted to finish it but we were sweating from our eyeballs. Would recommend to everyone will come back.
google avatar

Chris M.

Yelp
This place is the best, I love their fried chicken bowls and they're always super nice and service is top notch. Even when they're super busy we have a great experience and I tell everyone visiting Chatt to try Han Mi
google avatar

Nat H.

Yelp
I love coming here! The food is so yummy! I especially love the radish kimchi and braised tofu. The service is always good and the food comes out pretty fast!
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent! We got the kimchi fried rice with shrimp and mushrooms and it was so flavorful! Brittney, our server was adorable, friendly and we appreciated her wonderful service.
google avatar

Michelle C.

Yelp
The food was delicious. We will definitely be going back to try even more dishes. The fried chicken was very tasty and comes in different sauces. We want to try some others. We enjoyed the ramen as well.
google avatar

Esther P.

Yelp
For Chattanooga...its a win Kind staff, food came out quick! We got the fried chicken which was boneless and moist super tender and the rabokki was pretty good

Amme G.

Yelp
I took a bite of the Korean Fried Chicken and one of my first thoughts was "I need to write a yelp review." We got the spicy tangy chicken. It was crunchy, mouth watering, sweet and spicy, and tender. It melted in my mouth I'm not even exaggerating. I was sad when my meal was gone. We will be back! :)
google avatar

Roxy M.

Yelp
Who knew amazing Asian food could exist in Chattanooga, TN? We were so impressed. My husband got the Korean Fried Chicken and it was also so yummy, I'm already craving it again. We live in Nashville and I have yet to have any Asian food as good as this place here.
google avatar

Ashley S.

Yelp
Delicious!!!! We wanted ramen after being in the cold most of the day. This place was open and looked really good. We all ordered the spicy ramyeon with our own add ins. I got kimchi, bulgogi and cheese. Also, an order of mandoo. All fantastic and even enough soup left to bring home!
google avatar

Jaz P.

Yelp
On the drive from FL to IL, we were able to do a quick stop in Chattanooga. Rock City is just wonderful enchanting place esp for under-10 kids. Perfect early-dinner complement was the Korean food here- we got kalbi, black bean noodles, and the Korean chicken -garlic soy. This was the first time my picky Korean kid enjoyed the last dish so I considered our visit a complete win.
google avatar

Molly S.

Yelp
An exceptional place for lunch and dinner, the best Korean food this side of Duluth. The dishes are plentiful and tasty. DO NOT DOUBT THE WARNING ABOUT SPICE. The spicy dishes and sauces are sinus-popping and complex. I would recommend the sauce called "Mongolian Eradicator" on your fried chicken. Make sure you have enough beer to put out the fire afterwards. Parking could be a bit tight, the menu was a bit unclear, and the ambiance could use a sense of direction or uniform theme. However I recommend this restaurant without a doubt.

Yelp
In Chattanooga for a conference and had a yearning for Korean food. The place was packed when I arrived, which is always a good sign, and though I had to wait a little bit while they cleared a table, I recognized they were busy (a 10 top was just leaving) and the server/bartender seated myself and another gentleman who was waiting rather quickly all things considered. Bibimbap was on my brain, but when I was told it wasn't in a heated stone bowl I opted instead for the Bone Broth Ramen (pictured). The ingredients were fresh, the presentation was decent, and it arrived pretty fast, but the flavor and heartiness of the broth was pretty lacking. I still enjoyed the meal, but didn't really leave very impressed. While the broth flavor is subjective, and the Bibimbap without crunchy rice is forgivable, my biggest complaints were the lack of side items (kimchi cucumbers for example) and limited beer options. A Kirin Ichiban (though Japanese) would be a great accompaniment to your cuisine! All told, the menu is varied, the ambience is eclectic and youthful, and the service was excellent, especially knowing how busy they had been when I arrived. I guess I just had higher expectations for a Korean food experience that wasn't "Korean fusion".
google avatar

Zoe M.

Yelp
Second time going and my experience was slightly less enjoyable than my first. The food is always phenomenal- but they were out of the KFC (my favorite) which was a bummer and the service was poor. The server wouldn't stop to speak to us and at one point said "chopsticks ok" and RAN before I could ask for a fork. I had to yell across the restaurant to get one. Love the place, just maybe go when it isn't busy? P.S- their Bulgogi is AMAZING.
google avatar

Jim R.

Yelp
My friend and I go here frequently. The food is great. I wish there were some not so hot options though.
google avatar

Jasmine N.

Yelp
I was visiting from Atlanta and didn't expect to find quality Korean food in Chattanooga, but Han-Mi was a pleasant surprise. Off the bat do not expect a traditional Korean setting, but rather a fusion dining experience. What I enjoyed the most was the meats offered at Han-Mi. The bulgogi was amazing, and I recommend it to anyone visiting Han-Mi. Alongside that, the bibimbap was also amazing. I would definitely return!
google avatar

Memphis F.

Yelp
This is a small neighborhood restaurant without a lot of frills. Jeans and t-shirts/comfy clothes are appropriate. The restaurant cannot easily accommodate very large parties, although I'm sure the servers will do all they can. So why 5 stars? The FOOD and service! In Chattanooga there are very few authentic Asian restaurants. The bibimbap at Han-Mi was spot on. The mandu needed some green onion (in very short supply), but was perfectly fried and presented with the right sauce. Local pint of IPA chilled just right capped my yummy meal. The service was prompt and friendly. It was nice to see everyone in the restaurant (customers too!) appear satisfied and content. Nice menu with solid Korean comfort foods. Enjoy!
google avatar

Carol O.

Yelp
Han-mi is consistent. The food is always hot and excellent. The Service is always friendly and does Not take forever. We really enjoy their food, some is spicy and some is not. The sauces are great. There is nothing negative to say about them on any of our visits. Even the bathrooms are clean and they have a patio if you are into that kind of thing. (Pet-friendly patio, at that). Check them out and you will not regret it. If you are not sure you will like Korean, order the pork cutlet or the meatloaf. If you want to ease into Korean flavors, try the bibimbap bowl. The Kim chi is very nice.
google avatar

Bill G.

Yelp
Han Mi is definitely a fusion Korean food place, almost too fusion. I've been to dozens of Korean restaurants and this was the first that didn't offer banchan with the meal. The service was ok and the waitress was helpful, no real problems there. I was just not a fan of the food. The ttekbokki was fair but the flavor wasn't there. I expected egg and ramen or glass noodles like every other place I've been to but it was absent in theirs. The bibimbap was fair as well, same issues with the seasonings and ingredients, it wasn't very authentic. The Rabokki didn't have an egg on it and again, not very authentic if that's what you are looking for. It was a bit off putting when someone came out and started painting the walls while we were eating. That's just not right. On top of all that, the food was pretty expensive. I'm being generous with the 3 stars.
google avatar

Steve S.

Yelp
This a Korean pub, with simply outstanding food. I found it via Yelp, and talked my wife into checking it out. We'd just arrived in Chattanooga after a long drive from Indiana, and she wanted to settle for the Cracker Barrel across the street from the hotel. Thankfully I talked her out of it, and we drove 12 minutes to this place. First rate Galbi and Bulgolgi. The pork belly wraps are excellent. We got two types of Kim chee for the sides--superb. Then we finished it off with banana pudding. A heck of a lot better than a chain restaurant!
google avatar

Jacquelyn M.

Yelp
Absolutely fabulous meal! I ate out in the patio and the server brought a dog bowl with ice water in it for my pup. While I was waiting for my meal someone went out to the garden in the corner and picked some veggies that were served with our meal. The food was incredible: I got the poke bowl, my son had the bulgogi wrap, one of my daughters had the cold noodle soup and another daughter had the Korean fried chicken. I tasted all of them and they were all fantastic.
google avatar

Andy W.

Yelp
The "dork cutlet" was absolutely delicious! You will not be disappointed. A little on the pricier side but I guess that's inflation for ya, great staff!

Sarah L.

Yelp
Amazing Korean food! The Mandoo, fried chicken and kimchi ramen were all AMAZING! Very fast service w super fresh snackies.

Noah W.

Yelp
This place is absolutely insane. The food is a 10/10 without a doubt. The portions are huge for the price as well. Couldn't recommend enough

Reena T.

Yelp
While on the hunt for Korean food, I stumbled on Han-Mi's yelp listing and figured we'd give it a shot... what a find!! I'm sad to took us so long to discover this place, but in one visit it ranks up in our top 3 in Chattanooga. The food is phenomenal and authentic flavors. The restaurant is quaint and the staff is friendly. I loved that the menu was short & sweet. We had pork belly wraps to start, and pork cutlet and bibimbap for main course! Bangers!! Never skip out on the banana pudding (remembered to snap a photo AFTER the bowl was cleared out) -- this place gives every southern restaurant a run for its money when it comes to banana pudding. Looking forward to trying everything on the menu!!
