"What started out as a roadside fruit and vegetable stand that opened in 1996 along the legendary Road to Hana , the Bamboo Hale Cafe is a restaurant that has evolved from a working farm, marketplace, and bakery on eastern Maui. If you've done the 64-mile drive and are in the mood for a sit-down meal, and it’s all about the wood-fired pizzas here, which can rival the pies of the U.S. mainland: Each pizza is made with Maui-grown meat and produce, including herbs grown at Hana Farms. Some standouts are the Hana Dragon, topped with sopressata and Hawaiian-chili hot honey; the Green Harvest, a vegetarian pizza chock full of veggies and sprinkled with jalapeños and arugula; and the simple Wild Tomato Margherita, which is unbelievably fresh." - Juliana Shallcross, Kris Fordham

Stopped here on the way back from Hāna and it did not disappoint. Location and vibe were great and the staff was amazing and super friendly. The pizza was incredible, and if you like a good salad, you can’t find one with fresher or better ingredients(the dressings were off the chart as well). Great food great people. Definitely recommend!

We were suggested this place from our resort and we are glad we took them up on it! This place is amazing, had we known this earlier in the stay we would have become regulars. The area is visually beautiful, plenty of parking (Friday & Saturday nights are live music busy during that time), easy to order staff was nice and accommodating. You place your order and find a seat, then just have to grab the pizza! Pizza was amazing, best pizza we have had since we came to Maui! Highly recommend this place and if you can make it on Friday night or Saturday night for live music it’s worth it!

Hāna Farms is a must-stop if you're headed through the area—especially for the pizza. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere has that laid-back, rustic charm that makes you want to hang around a little longer. The pizza menu is full of winners—each one is so good, it’s genuinely hard to choose. They come out fast, are super fresh, and packed with flavor. The only thing we wished for was a bit more crispiness in the crust. Still, they’re absolutely satisfying. Keep in mind: if you’re paying by credit card, there’s a 3.5% upcharge to cover transaction fees. Also, the chip and swipe functions are taped off on the card reader. Wait to tap otherwise you'll apply a tip automatically. Their banana bread is also a popular grab—and while it’s tasty, note that it contains some enriched ingredients like niacin, reduced iron, thiamin mononitrate, riboflavin, and folic acid.

Absolutely loved this spot! The pizza was delicious and the ginger & hibiscus soda was so refreshing. Beautiful, nature-filled setting—perfect for a relaxing lunch. A must-visit if you’re in Maui!

Google
Their vegan pizza was different but delicious. Hibiscus tea is a must try, it is refreshing. We also bought banana bread with macadamia nuts from the farm stand which ended up amazing also. This is easily one of the best places to have a meal on road to Hana.

5 Stars – A Must-Visit for Vegetarians! As a vegetarian, I highly recommend this famous pizza spot in Hana! We ordered the Wild Margherita pizza, and it was absolutely delicious—the crust was perfectly crispy, the fresh basil and tomatoes were so flavorful, and the cheese was just right. The cute little farmers market next door was a lovely bonus, offering amazing local chocolate and other treats. A perfect stop for a tasty meal in Hana!

I stopped at this spot while on my way to Hana. This place is very well maintained and I just love the vibes. They make great firewood pizza. Highly recommended.

The ambience was amazing. Beautiful garden surrounded with exotic plants and natural building structure. Their pizza, coffee, chocolate chip cookies were the best. My kids and parents enjoyed the visit. Definitely a must stop place.

Yelp
We stopped here for dinner while on the Road to Hāna drive and loved it! The property is beautiful and the service was fast and friendly. The pizza was amazing--we got the veggie with pepperoni on one side. Really high quality pizza. Nice selection of fruity sodas. Great covered seating area and live music on Friday nights. The property has a great store with some sweets and other local goods. Definitely recommend this place!

Yelp
Great stop while going or coming back from Hana. I would recommend keeping around 30-40 mins for this stop. Their lilikoi soda is super. So are their pizzas. Coffee is fine, nothing to rave about. Banana bread is also pretty amazing. They sell merchandise and bunch of other stuff like hot sauce, jams, fruits etc. Currently farm tours are not ongoing. The place, however, is gorgeous and gives tropical vibes :) (I only took away a star as prices may be slightly more than you'd expect)

Yelp
During our Road to Hana adventure, we made a stop at Hana Farms, and it turned out to be a lovely break from the drive. The farm had plenty of parking, which made it easy to pull in and stretch our legs. The restrooms were decent, providing a convenient spot to freshen up before continuing on our journey. We decided to try a few items from their menu, starting with their white sauce pizza, which was absolutely delicious. The crust was perfectly crispy, and the combination of flavors in the white sauce made it a unique and satisfying choice. It was light yet flavourful. We also couldn't resist picking up some macadamia banana bread from their bakery. Although I'm not usually one with a strong sweet tooth, I gave it a try, and I found it to be a bit sweeter than I preferred. That said, it was still tasty, and I could appreciate the rich, moist texture and the hint of macadamia nuts in every bite. For those who love sweet treats, it would definitely hit the spot! They offer smaller versions of the banana bread as well, and there are a variety of flavors to choose from, making it easy to pick something that suits your tastes. Overall, Hana Farms is a great spot to take a break on the Road to Hana. Whether you're looking for a quick bite or a place to rest, it's definitely worth stopping by.

Yelp
This was one of our favorite stops along the road to Hana and actually on our entire trip to Maui. The pizza was cooked to absolute perfection, my husband loved the prosciutto and fig pizza especially because it was unique and unlike anything either of us had ever had before. I definitely ate my portion as well, but I would love to try another flavor in the future! We also tried the lilikoi soda, it was a little too sour for our liking but feel free to give it a try! Otherwise I would suggest just buying a water cup for $.25 and letting the pizza be the star of the show! The seating area was very clean and pleasant, great bathrooms, fun atmosphere, awesome employees who gave great suggestions and service. We really enjoyed taking a walk along the market and buying some snacks for our way home. Their banana bread was our favorite of every one we had tried (there are approximately 72 banana bread stands along the road to Hana)-- yummy chocolate chips and a sugar topping... but the real star of the show was their "jungle bar", you can't ever go wrong with butterscotch and graham crackers. I wish I would've bought seven more. TIPS & TRICKS * I did not have any cell service here so hopefully you can catch it on your way in if you did not pull up on maps before you started driving. It is on your right hand side as you enter the town of Hana.

Yelp
Beautiful local restaurant specializing in oven baked restaurant. We also ordered a salad and it was really good! We went on a Friday night so it was a full house with live music. However there is plenty of parking and seating so that wasn't a huge issue for us. The extended upstairs part is a bit secluded and does not include the live music so if you're wanting to chat it up wing friends, that will be a better spot for you. Service was a bit underwhelming.. nothin memorable to write about. It's casual so you order your food and you pick your food yourself.

Gaurav B.

Yelp
Great place. Good pizza, clean bathrooms, amazing gifts and overall a good place to just relax on the way to Hana.

Lisa T.

Yelp
This place is before Black Sand Beach/Wai'anapanapa State Park and is definitely worth a stop! Great pizza and fresh salad. The crust is delicious and the toppings were local and fresh. Maui has great pizza options even in Hana! The salad was delicious, especially the specialty lilikoi Dijon vinaigrette. I even liked dipped my pizza crust in the dressing. Yum! There's plenty of covered seating available and the staff is friendly.

Yelp
A Must-Visit in Hāna! Hāna Farm Stand is an absolute gem! From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed by friendly, knowledgeable staff who not only shared insights about their certified organic vegetables and fruits but also a bit of Hāna's rich history. It was such a delight to connect with the Director of Operations, who even knows my classmate Benny John and my Airbnb host Keith--talk about a small island connection! The fresh produce is unmatched, and the pineapple banana bread was pure heaven. They also have a lovely selection of other baked goods and retail offerings, perfect for gifts or treats to enjoy later. The stunning landscape surrounding the stand adds to the experience--it's a feast for the eyes and the taste buds. If you're lucky enough to be there on a Friday night, don't miss the local music! It's a wonderful way to soak in the spirit of Hāna while supporting the health and wellness of the community through your purchases. Highly recommend making this stop part of your Hāna adventure.

Yelp
Given that the Road to Hana is a veritable desert for food, this place was a pleasantly surprising find. Kind of an oasis of sorts. Got the Hana Dragon and a salad. Both were solid. Fun, low key ambience. Small store nearby with banana bread for sale, which was good as well.

Ruben P.

Yelp
In ours tour road to gana we stop in Hana farm to have a lunch, we got salad and pizza both was goo, fresh ingredients good dressing and made and bake in front of you a Neapolitan pizza, Margherita, pineapple (sorry Italians) and pepperoni very good, they gave a nice menu Andy Full bar and gift shop. Nice place to stop for a meal

Bhamidipati M.

Yelp
The pineapple bread is one of the best in all of Hawaii. It's vegan and super tasty. The pizza at the restaurant is a must try and delicious! Do try the tarp chips at Hana farms if you can. They have a very unique taste to them. I highly recommend to stop here and grab lunch and snacks for the road here.

Rachael H.

Yelp
A great place to get hot food and coffee on the way to or back from Hana. Really serene and beautiful setting with plenty of open seating and some local art/goods/produce to purchase. The pizza itself was good, but the underside was definitely soggy and fell apart easily. The crust though was delicious. Quick and polite service.

Rhonda S.

Yelp
We had the pineapple and pepperoni pizza and it was so good! We ate outside at a picnic table the landscaping is geogous.

Tanner K.

Yelp
Great stop that came highly recommended a long the road to Hana. Really cool set up not just with the restaurant but also with the little market they had. The pizza was super delicious and you could tell was made with aloha. Dont miss this spot on your Road to Hana adventure.

Victoria K.

Yelp
Hana Farms is well worth your time when driving the Road to Hana! We had planned ahead to time our visit for lunchtime, but even if you only stop to check out the shop and maybe grab a refreshing drink, it's still worth it! The gardens surrounding and throughout this space are lush and gorgeous. We saw so many beautiful plants and flowers. Each was more gorgeous than the last. The shop is small but well-stocked with items of interest. You can get everything from their famous banana bread (in many varieties) to small bottles of hot sauce (both Hana Farms brand as well as others), seasonings, souvenirs, and really so much more. Items can be a bit pricey, but this is Maui. These are Maui prices. The staff here was friendly and helpful. We enjoyed lunch at the Bamboo Hale (the restaurant on site). They specialize in wood-fire pizzas. We got half and half of two varieties: pine kine / spicy pepperoni and pineapple. Both were delicious but I actually preferred the spicy pepperoni and pineapple half. The pineapple soda was amazing! I dream of it. Get it. The staff here were a bit less friendly than the ones at the shop, just saying. All in all, Hana Farms was easily one of the highlights of our Road to Hana drive. It was a lovely break with fun souvenir-shopping and a delicious lunch. I would absolutely stop here again in the future!

Yelp
Happy Hana . CARD/CASH accepted - full bathrooms - lots of outdoor covered seating. . Highly recommend this stop on your Hana journey. Pizza was fresh, hot, and the menu had lots of creative options - to include gluten free crusts! Hesitated at first - I avoid obvious tourist traps - but am so glad I listened to my growling tummy as we slowed into the parking lot. The staff was welcoming at the shop and the counter, the natural landscaping enchanting, & there's lots of space for pics, fresh air, and leg stretches. . Prosciutto + Fig Pizza -- great balance of savory, sweet, w/ salad on top! Hibiscus Soda - perfect level of sweet (for me) Ginger Soda - ....so much ginger (: . Big s/o to my boyfriend driver for safely getting us through that trek. We survived!

M J.

Yelp
Pizza is better than anything in Portland OR. We've eaten at the nationally ranked places there. Ken's. Apizza Scholls. Nothing compares to the quality here at Hana Farms

Rob B.

Yelp
Aloha, when making the trek to Hana, the best pizza with Friday night music is Hana Farms. They crank out wonderful pizzas from a brickfire oven, nice. I over the fresh arugula on the prosciutto as well as the mushroom pizzas. Actually all were great including the salad. Nice kanakapila music with pop-up hula dancers too. Enjoy!

Mrinal S.

Yelp
This place is absolutely a hidden gem. Why stop at all the little food trucks serving mediocre food? Enjoy your journey on the road to Hana and eat fresh fruits along the way and save your appetite for a scrumptious farm to table lunch after swimming in waterfalls. They are absolutely killing it and the "green harvest" was seriously was one of the best pizzas I've ever had and I'm from Chicago who regularly visited New York growing up. The spicy pepperoni was ok but I'm not really a pineapple on pizza person but had to try it being in Maui. They grow a lot of their ingredients on the farm and serve within 10 mins of ordering. You can't go wrong!

Shay M.

Yelp
This place's pizza is amazing! It's the perfect stop on the road to hana for a lunch. They have plenty of outdoor seating and honestly, it was some of the best food I had in Maui. - Pizzas come out fresh and hot. The dough is thin and flavorful, but eat it fast because it can get soft. Super flavorful and they don't skimp out on the toppings. - The acidity of the pineapple pizza and the savory of the mushroom white sauce one was perfect - Tip: you can get hawaiian sodas, snacks and souvenirs at the shop out front!

Autumn S.

Yelp
This pizza will BLOW your mind! I don't think "pizza" when I think of "Hawaii" (I mean, outside of Hawaiian pizza) but I saw this written up as a popular pit stop on the road to Hana and OMG am I glad I stopped here. The dough is spectacular, the incredible, inventive pizzas are perfection... They also have a 'make your own' but the pizzas on their menu are so damn good that I decided to go with their own concoctions. The White Lotus and Ulu & Pesto are to die for. We liked our first pizza so much we got the second one to-go. As a plus, the grounds are beautiful & there's bathrooms & a shop with delicious banana bread & cute non-kitschy souvenirs.

Cara E.

Yelp
The cutest stop on the Road to Hana, with snacks, house made soda, and fun gifts! We went over a year ago, and I'm still thinking about it!

Soumen B.

Yelp
On the long and winding road to Hana, we found this gem, Hana Farms! Our long journey got us here and we were left with farm fresh food and wonderful memories. We stoped at the Island Chef that is right before this place but didn't eat as we weren't looking for fish and chips. Looking for the next food options brought us to this restaurant that has mostly pizza but they are wonderful. We tried the Artichoke and Feta pizza and the harvest salad, both were delicious! They have plenty of seating options amidst the natural habitat of Maui. Amazing!!

Jake G.

Yelp
The pizza was fresh and light. I tried the gluten free crust and it was real nice and crispy. The service was quick as pizzas were made to order. The road side dining on the road to Hana was perfect ambiance. The bathrooms were the best for a quick change after black sand beach.

Ben L.

Yelp
Holy hell where did this pizza place come from??? It felt like one of those experiences where you haven't eaten all day and the first thing you eat tastes like heaven. Except we weren't even that hungry. I mean I would never think Hawaii and kick a$$ pizza. We weren't even just there for the banana bread and decided to get dinner. Speaking of get the espresso brownie in the back. It's to die for. They're pushing the banana bread, but that's where the money's at.

david L.

Yelp
We're so glad we stopped at Hana Farms Roadside Stand on the way back from our Road to Hana journey. We were pleasantly surprised by how good the pizza is here. They do a thin crust style pizza, with close to 15 specialty pizzas on the menu and you can build your own custom pizza. The crust was really good, very impressed by this pizza. There is a shop next to the pizza place that has jewelry, tourist gifts and fresh fruit. The property also has very clean bathrooms, which is a nice perk since there are not a lot of bathrooms along the road to Hana. I'd definitely recommend making a pit stop here on the way to or back from the Road to Hana. I believe this stop was about 25 mins from the Black Sand beach.

Tiffany S.

Yelp
Amazing spot for banana bread and other goodies! Ample parking on the road too! I picked up their pineapple bread and it was soooo delicious. Was highly considering coming back here before flying to get some more baked goodies! Great selection of local hot sauces, seasoning, stickers, etc. they even had the option to get a box and fill it up and they would ship it to you!

Lauren H.

Yelp
Pizza and main restaurant only open till 4:30! We had the harvest salad which was absolutely beautiful and got the garlic balsamic dressing. We also got the artichoke feta pizza. This was plenty to split for two people. The artichoke pieces were a bit large on the pizza and we would've liked them to be cut a bit smaller. The crust is thin under the toppings, but then thicker on the edges and has a delicious flavor. We also tried the pineapple banana bread and some papaya and a fig from the market. The banana bread was good, but we preferred aunt Sandy's. The fig wasn't good but the papaya was ripe and buttery smooth!

S. J.

Yelp
Really nice scenery and a pleasantry to Hana. The lady at the pizza parlor is super friendly and kind. The pizza was hot and fresh and made to order. It was an absolute joy to end up here right before they closed. I also purchased a plumeria plant to take back home from the small store that they have. Did I mention room they also have WiFi! If you know you know! :-)

Stephanie G.

Yelp
Love this place they have the best pizza and great customer service. Very friendly staff ! Must stop on road to Hana

Paul R.

Yelp
What a lovely little roadside stop after a 3 hour journey up the coast . Food was impeccable and service delightful. Big spray your ankles :)

Enrike G.

Yelp
Stopped here on a whim and I highly recommend you add this to pizza place to your list. The ingredients are fresh and you can taste it with every single bite. Pizzas are definitely a decent shareable size. Great service as well.

Joshua K.

Yelp
The pizza here was delicious! The crust was soft and fluffy and then warm pizza was great to eat during a passing rain cloud. Would definitely recommend to anyone needing to stop on the road to Hana.

Al R.

Yelp
Excellent - I mean excellent wood fire pizza and great atmosphere! Can't be any better.

Stacy F.

Yelp
Highly recommend stopping here on your way to/from Hana. The pizza was so good and the banana bread was delicious! The banana bread is crispy on the top.

Dana R.

Yelp
Amazing pizza! Fun, charming atmosphere!!! Well worth the stop!! Cute store, clean restrooms

Shristy A.

Yelp
Veg/vegan reviewer: The pizza is mind blowing! You won't regret it. It's enough for two people. You're on road to Hana, you have to visit this place. Love the seating area as well. What a wonderful place.

Katharine K.

Yelp
Went twice in 2 days!! Fresh, tasty and not much else in Hāna. We had 4 different pizzas and both salads. Cesar was overdressed but yummy. Local salad was super interesting. Pizzas were all great and original

Sneha R.

Yelp
Delicious pizza and banana bread! Very appreciated after the long drive to Hāna. Would recommend to anyone embarking on this trip- makes the two days and turns worth it!

Ai-nhi T.

Yelp
Hawaiian pizza in hawaii???? Okay but actually this might have been the best hawaiian pizza I've ever had period. When I saw roadside stand I was not expecting this beautiful outdoor space. The seating area is under a bamboo canopy and even the bathrooms are really nice. There's a market area where you can buy goodies and gifts. The restaurant itself has lots of seating. You can even watch them toss the pizza dough behind the counter. It's just a nice spot to make a stop even if you don't want pizza. But that being said the pizza is so good, it does take a little for it to come out but its fresh out the oven so it's worth. There's even a little succulent leaf to garnish which is so cute. Overall everything was amazing definitely treat yourself to pizza on your road to hana trip!!

Laura M.

Yelp
Such a lovely spot! We were starving abd definitely over-ordered! Great thing is that they have to go boxes available! The fruit sodas were a must IMO, so delicious and unique. This place has a small menu, but everything they have is fantastic! The covered bamboo tented area is delightful too. There is a cute shop nearby for souvenirs and coffee. I've been told Maui doesn't have good pizza, anyone who has said that clearly hasn't been here! I'm gonna say this has the best pizza on the island! If the parking lot is full there is roadside parking.

Alex S.

Yelp
We were traveling on the road to Hana and our guide Kat had us stop here for lunch. We were so glad she did! Our group loved the pizza and the setting was really beautiful. We even snagged some chocolate chip banana bread and iced coffee from the store before heading on our way. I have celiac so I adhere to a gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free diet. The kind server at the register was very knowledgeable about the menu and helped me figure out what my options were. I did a build-your-own pizza on gluten free crust without any cheese, as they didn't have dairy free cheese. I added lots of veggies and red sauce to it. The pizza was huge (probably the biggest GF pizza I've ever had!) and the crust had a really great texture. I also had the salad without any dressing, as I couldn't confirm it was soy free. I planned to not be able to eat anything on our Hana trip, so this was a delightful surprise. I didn't stand around to watch them prepare my pizza, so I can't speak to safety ratings in that regard, but I didn't feel sick after.

Rafid D.

Yelp
They don't have a big selection of fruit, just average stuff like avocados, pineapple, bananas, etc. Their home made soda was excellent. The service was really good. The huge mac + chocolate chip cookie was not that good. They also sell a bunch of souvenirs.

Melody C.

Yelp
I tried to go to Aunty Sandy's Banana Bread first but turns out it was closed, so I was forced to go to Hāna Farms Roadside Stand instead. This little hiccup on my itinerary turned out to be a wonderful blessing in disguise. I got a whole banana loaf with nuts from there and it was such a yummy breakfast that I enjoyed while sitting on the black sand at Pa'iloa Beach. I also picked up a refreshing drink to wash down the banana bread and a tonic that's meant for nausea relief. Thought it would be handy when I went whale watching the next day. I'm not sure it helped much though, haha. Next time, I'd like to try the pizza here!

Jake A.

Yelp
Great ambiance after a long hike, even better staff & pizza that was our absolute favorite on the island!

John D.

Yelp
This place was Awesome!!! It was one of the best pizzas we (wife, 2 teenage daughters) and myself) have ever had. We have contemplated making the 2 hour drive from our hotel just to get more pizza here! If you are anywhere remotely close, I recommend you stop in. The pizza was perfectly cooked, the flavors were amazing, and it was reasonably priced. There was also some good Hawaiian live music!

Mira S.

Yelp
Good pizza prepared quickly. Pricy but not unusual for Maui. You order at a counter and they give you a buzzer. Lots of covered seating.

Polly P.

Yelp
The best Banana Bread ever. And a 5 star restaurant in the middle of nowhere! I wish that you could order the bread to be shipped home!

Mary B.

Yelp
Darling place off the road to Hana. I saw several nana bread stands but I stopped here and was thankful I did! Super cute shop with a variety of freshly baked banana breads daily. I got the original and the macadamia nut the second time when I ordered from the mainland and had it delivered. They came fast and fresh! When I went there in person earlier this year, I bought several and shipped some home and took some with me to my friends on the Big Island. Also fresh and yummy! A little on the sugary side and a tiny bit overcooked for my taste but generally moist and flavorful and great with coffee tea hot chocolate etc. The staff is super kind and there's easy parking in the gravel. There's eat in menus and food but I didn't do that. I'll definitely be back!
