Its not meant to be fancy but it's a hard to beat bargain Japanese food for you budget hunter. This place been here for years and has been quite famous with lots of student and professional alike that long for a quick fix for their Japanese food craving. Chicken curry is quite decent and generous serving too, udon bowl also pretty good as well.

Hanaichi first opened in 2010. When I lived in the city, I used to go there all the time. The food was tasty and affordable and the inside seating felt cozy. I liked sitting there, watching people walk by and looking at the State Library. Now I live in the suburbs but I visited again after 15 years and it still tastes just as good. It’s a great place for a casual and yummy one of best meal in the city.

One of the saddest parts about not working in the CBD anymore is I'm not close enough to great food like this! This was one of my favourite places to visit when I wanted to treat myself with a meal out, and when I finally had the opportunity to visit again last Saturday, I was delighted. Still great curry, nice service workers, and short waiting times. Even though I wish there was a better spoon alternative, the chicken curry is always worth the effort!

Visited here late Sunday afternoon with a friend. We ordered x2 bowls of Japanese curry with tofu and a side of edamame. Delicious, generous portion size and very reasonably priced. Friendly staff, quick service. There's quieter dining areas inside up the stairs.

An absolute gem and truly in a league of its own. I always order Kay’s, and it never disappoints. The sauce is incredibly creamy and delicious, and everything is perfectly balanced – the crispy yet tender chicken, the tangy salad, the fluffy rice and that amazing sauce all come together beautifully. The service staff is also always friendly and kind. This place genuinely makes me happy. Even with rising prices everywhere, they’ve kept theirs fair, offering great value without compromising on quality. I’m already thinking about my next visit 😋

Still as good as I can remember!! We always come here for a good meal during uni days.. I always say that I will come here for a good meal but always ends up with different resto. Now me and my partner had the chance to come back here and eat, their food is still the same. Consistent with their taste and quality. We didn’t know that they have tentamagodon which we tried and was really good! The famous Kay’s chicken still one of my top faves here in Hanaichi!!! So sad that they don’t have that 2 meals combo anymore.. but still this place is one of the best food places to check around in the city. Simple, reasonable prices and great food!!!💯💯💯💯💯

Food was prepared very quickly and tasted amazing. Serving size was very good for the price, especially for a CBD restaurant. Highly recommend.

Beats almost all Japanese restaurants at the city and at lower prices, it’s really that good.
