We were looking for a few days of peace and serenity in a beautiful setting before heading to the Grand Hyatt Poipu. The place delivered as advertised for our family of 5 with our kids ranging from 16 to 9yo. The resort is north of Hanalei so not that well traveled. The units were well appointed but no air conditioning. The rooms were not as nice as a 4 star hotel but you are paying more for the location. The evenings were cool so no AC wasn’t a real issue. |The pool is a bit small but fine for my family as it was not busy. Overall a great place if you are looking to get away from the resort crowd with close access to multiple amazing beaches.

This resort is located in a very quiet area of Hanalei, between the town of Hanalei and Haena State Park. The location was perfect for us - we were picked up at the resort for our day of hiking on the Kalalau Trail just a few miles down the road, and close to Tunnels Beach. The road between the resort and the town of Hanalei was a little curvy and we chose not to drive at night, but no worries - we were able to take the complimentary shuttle with ease. It was flexible and the driver very friendly. Our garden unit was close to the stream, and between the office and the pool - lovely! The pool and hot tub are new, as well as the clubhouse area with guest laundry and restrooms. The landscaping is quite beautiful. The beach area is just a few steps away, with a very long beach for walking. We saw sea turtles right in front of the hotel and the view was lovely at any time of day. We were in a unit with one king bed and one double murphy bed. Plenty of room and privacy with the shutters that closed the bedroom areas, and we loved the back patio. So peaceful! We picked up groceries at Safeway in Kapaa on the way in (cheaper than Hanalei) and did use the kitchen for several meals. They could use a few more items in the kitchen, but it has the basics and cooking just a few times saved us lots of money. And the feline ambassadors that slept peacefully on our patio added to the charm. I've been wanting to come to this resort for many years, and it did not disappoint. We loved it here!

Premium Beachfront had the most beautiful views. We could walk outside our door and go right to the almost always empty beach. It's so quiet there and peaceful there too. It's a long drive from other parts of the island but it's so much better than a busy corporate resort. Easy to park, the kitchen was great to cook in and you just can't beat the environment. The staff was always very nice. We will be back.

Our unit needed some attention and it was a bit outdated and worn out, but we had an expectation going in that would be the case based on other reviews. There are small changes the hotel could make with rooms to feel more updated. Overall beds were really comfortable and there was no need for AC when opening the windows for the breeze to cool the until in all directions. The new pool, hot tub, and grill area ended up being amenities that we used every day. We walked on the beach in the mornings but ended up taking the shuttle to tunnels where the water is more calm for swimming. The hotel staff was extremely friendly and we loved having the restaurant and coffee shop on that we could walk to with very affordable prices. The shuttle was also excellent to have so that we didn't have to fight for parking at the local beaches since parking is extremely limited. The accommodations felt more like a condo and home than a hotel or resort that you're being waited on so keep that in mind when booking. We personally loved that about it and are already planning our trip back for next year.

I went with one of my best friends to the Hanalei Colony Resort and it was everything we wanted. The property has a fabulous setting on the beach, far from crowds and feels delightfully tucked away. While you can find more modern accomodations elsewhere, the rooms are really spacious and functional and have nice private terraces and some really great views of the ocean.||The staff make this place feel special. We want to give a shout out to Koaki (sp?), who was extremely gracious when we were delayed from being able to arrive on-time to check-in due to flight issues. Everyone at the hotel was sweet and down to earth and made us feel at home. This is what sets this place apart - it's run by people who really care and the crowd who is here is here for the right reasons. ||We loved the on-site coffee shop / art gallery, the pool + jacuzzi, bbq station, and proximity to amazing beaches. Would love to return in the future.

We had an incredible stay at Hanalei Colony Resort for our honeymoon. The hotel is so serene, right on the beach which we had practically to ourselves. The pool is beautiful, with grills available for guests to use and a hot tub. We were blown away by how beautiful the landscape is, and could see the beach right from our room deck. The room was HUGE and had everything we needed. We couldn't recommend this hotel enough.

We just spent 4 wonderful days here. We wanted to explore what the north shore of Kauai had to offer. and Hanalei Colony Resort was a great location. We hiked, we snorkeled, we shopped, we enjoyed the views. Everyone was really nice and the staff at Hanalei Colony Resort were as great in person, as they were via email during COVID when we had to cancel our original trip. Took a few years, but we are happy to make it here.

AWFUL. They are rude and there are no services. Wildly overpriced.|1. NO CLEANING -- They say "no contact" cleaning, but it's just no cleaning. They are "happy" to give you new towels if you CARRY YOUR DIRTY TOWELS TO THE OFFICE and exchange them for clean towels. During their limited hours.|2. LIMITED HOURS -- They are only on the property 8 - 6, so if you need *anything* after 6 pm, too bad.|3. Cheap -- We asked for more coffee and they said it would be $2.|4. Poorly stocked -- The kitchen only had one small towel and a washcloth -- not nearly enough. The bathroom towels were also very limited, particularly when you get no new towels unless you are willing to carry wet & dirty towels across the property.|5. RUDE RUDE RUDE -- I arrived around 10:30 am and said we were there to check in. One lady was putting away towels and the other was on a computer. They both sort of looked confused. One lady said -- "Check in is at 3." Uh, ok. I said that it would be great if our room was ready but if not, we'd like to leave our luggage. And that I was confused b/c we'd been emailing with someone about this exact issue. They asked my name and when I told them, they said we had no reservation. We did have a reservation in my husband's name. Another day I came into the office about something else. The particularly unpleasant older lady was checking someone in. I stood there for 5+ minutes while she did not acknowledge me. I left before getting any help.|6. No services -- If you want anything, you got to them to get it. If you need help with your luggage, there is a weird cart you can use. |7. Property is not in great condition. |||The location is amazing -- right on the beach. But they are charging 5 star prices for one star treatment and services. Wildly overpriced. Most expensive and least decent place we stayed. We had been to this resort 10+ years ago and were so excited to return -- sadly, it's now just a bad memory for us.
