Hanamurasaki (Kaga, Ishikawa Prefecture) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Hanamurasaki is a ryokan (a Japanese inn rooted in hospitality traditions) set above the forested gorge of Kakusenkei in Yamanaka Onsen. The setting is calm but not remote, with views from every room and a mineral-rich spring that has fed the Onsen baths here for centuries. Meals follow the kaiseki format, but without rigidity and guests can opt for à la carte dining or pair sake and wine with a seasonal course menu. There is even a modern tea lounge serving cocktails and local Kaga bōcha. All of it feels personal, intentional, and immersive." - Tablet Hotels

Like the best hotel experience I ever had. Had a wonderful dinner, onsen experience both in the rooftop onsen and the one in the basement. Mesmerizing interior design all throughout the hotel, great rooms. We loved that we were able to short notice book some massages as well. Just phenomenal time spent here.

I would rate this travel experience a 10 plus. This 5 generation family run Ryokan achieves excellence at every turn. From the moment I checked in till the moment I left, I was awed by the attention to detail, the comfort, the unique design, and the warm hospitality. Stylishly built from the ground up, along the Yamanaka River George, it is expertly run by the Amada family. The newest generation of owners Manami & Kohei, a husband and wife team, are consumate hoteliers well beyond their years.. Along with Kohei's mama san, they have brought every special unique aspect to my two night classic Japanese stay. The breakfast and dinner service meals were carefully thought out, beautifully presented and delicious. I can't speak highly enough of this experience. I arrived from a hectic 5 day business trip in Korea, and left in a culturally relaxed state of bliss. Thank you to Manami and Kohei for curating every aspect. I will truly cherish the memories. I only hope that I can return with my wife next time. Book now - don't even hesitate this adventure.

We booked a night here last minute and it was one of my favorite 24 hours of my entire trip to Japan. It was relaxing and felt so serene. I will definitely be coming back. My husband and I did the couples massage in the room and I almost fell asleep it was so good. The upper rooftop onsen that is open air was my favorite. It started snowing when I was up there and I had the entire place to myself. It felt like I was in a fairytale. Truly amazing experience, we will be back!!

This was the best hotel we've ever stayed in hands-down! For starters, it's the perfect blend of a Japanese-style Ryokan and a more western design hotel. The building is old, but the interiors have been partially renovated and have a timeless feel to them. We got one of their renovated rooms on the lowest floor. It was redone by a local interior designer in an earthy, minimalist style and was such a special place. Outdoor private onsen, gorgeous bathroom and a view to die for. You'll hear constant flow of water, either from your Onsen, or the river right below your balcony. The food was also amazing - breakfasts and dinners all included, with dinner being a full 8 course Japanese kaiseki experience. (After a couple of days, we did wish there were some simpler menu options, but the food was all beautifully prepared and excellent) If you want zen, relaxation, and to be thoroughly pampered, this is the place to be. Totally worth the $$$. Would love to come back again.

As we have traveled around Japan over the last several years we have stayed in dozens of ryokan, large and small. This was our first stay in a high end establishment. The price was literally six times as much as we paid the night before in a small minshuku in Kanazawa. We were curious to experience Japanese elegance and refinement at this level. Not the most expensive place that we looked at at, but certainly not at the low end.||||From the moment we stepped off of the free transfer from the Kagaonsen train station, we were a small army of attentive and considerate staff. We were gently ushered through the check out and our room where our personal attendant, Yukina, discussed our menu preferences, our yukata size, the available onsen options and more.||||We started with a relaxing bath at the open air rooftop onsen, which I had all to myself. The facilities are excellent and my wife reported that the cosmetics are top of the line. The view from the outdoor bath was perfect. Somehow it was no longer apparent that we were in a developed section with many large ryokan. Looking across the hillside I could see nothing but trees, a varied forest, gently swaying in the breeze. Completely beautiful and relaxing. ||||As others have said here, the food is exceptional and varied. We took the standard meal, did not order from the lengthy list of the optional additions. This meal was more than we could eat and each course seemed to top the one before. If there was something we didn't eat, Yukina asked us about it and brought a replacement that was to our liking. Breakfast was equally delicious and we, again, were given a great deal of personal attention.||||After another dip in the onsen we walked along the beautiful river path until it was time to check out we returned to Kanazawa.

Hanamurasaki was close to a number of scenic spots and all rooms enjoyed a good view. Our room was cozy, very spacious and comfortable. In addition the bedroom, another small room was attached to the room where we enjoyed cigar and red wine there. The hotel appeared to be a traditional Japanese hotel, but with a modern touch so that customers would not find it old or outdated. The staff were able to communicate well in English. They paid attention to the needs of the customers and brought them what they needed without being asked. I believe this hotel must be one of the best in the area.

From the moment we checked in until we left, our stay was wonderful! We were welcomed by the warm and friendly staff and made to feel like we were the only ones there; of course we weren't but it was a good feeling. The onsen was amazing, and I was fortunate enough to have it all to myself for a good twenty minutes. The luxury toiletries and the tea setup in the room made our stay that extra special.||If you have the chef's dinner, please note that some of the foods are definitely not for a Western palate but be adventurous!

Hanamurasaki is a nice hotel in Kaga onsen town. It’s bigger than I expected but when you’re staying there, you don’t feel it’s as big as it is.||The room is very spacious and there is a permanent “lounge” area so you don’t have to sit on the tatami in the afternoons if you prefer not to.||The dinner and breakfast kaiseiki that comes with the package is astounding. They really put so much effort on each dish that you just feel obliged to eat them all... not that they’re not nice. On the contrary, they’re very nice (mostly). The ambience at the dining area is also very nice.||While staying here, you should try to experience the onsen. It’s not fully outdoor - it’s at the terrace - but it’s still nice. It will probably be quite an experience in winter.||Service is very professional and they try their best to accommodate guests.||In terms of location, it’s at the start of the pathway that leads to other interesting places along the river.||If you’re in Kaga, Hanamurasaki is a Japanese Hotel you’d want to consider.
