Handlebar Café

I've had a lot of coffee on the island and Handlebar is one of the best! The atmosphere of the shop is inviting and well designed. It's easy to feel like you are having coffee at home here. Also, the staff are engaand kind. Very easy to talk to and fast! I order and I get my coffee in less than 5 minutes. It's amazing. I'm sure that time will slow down in the summer when more people arrive on the island. I love sitting outside, they have a great outdoor seating area and it is well worth investing in the time to drink your coffee there. Lastly, if you have a little time before getting on HyLine the shop is a quick walk away. Easy to get to, and again - fast. It took me 7 minutes to walk to the shop, get m coffee, and walk back. I highly recommend Handlebar, check out the photos to get a sense of the space.

Nice café, good coffee. We had an americano and a cappuccino. I would prefer if the cappuccino has a bit stronger coffee taste, but that might be only me. It’s nice that there are few benches outside so during Covid you can still enjoy coffee/pastries while sitting. Muffin and the donut twist was ok. What is also good is that this place is not that close to the harbour so it’s not as packed as other cafés in the middle of the town.

This cafe is new since I was last on the island and what a wonderful addition! My latte was probably the best one I've had at a cafe/coffee shop all summer. A lot of variety of flavors and milks! One caveat is the large and small iced lattes have the same amount of espresso (one double shot), just a variation in milk quantity. Do yourself a favor and just get the small.

HANDLEBAR CAFE is one of the best coffee shops in the island. This cafe opens early. They have a large and quaint and air-conditioned indoor dining area. Very Nantucket. They also have a large front yard with many chairs and tables and an awesome vintage truck to boot. They have strong and delicious coffee that you can enjoy while partaking of their wifi! LONDON FOG is delicious. LATTE is a must at the beginning of your sightseeing day. Staff are beyond friendly, fast, and got our orders right.

Order coffee to go this morning. Easy pick up. Limited staff interactions but they were nice. They have outdoor seating with tables. Had the cappuccino. It felt light in the cup but tasted good.

Great beverage selections with additional cold beverages and small selection of bakery items. Across the street from town shuttle bus stop. Perfect location just out of town by two blocks.

Highly recommend this cafe! Super welcoming and cute outdoor walk up and seating area. Inside is bright yet very cozy coffee shop energy. The music is upbeat yet not too much. The employees are friendly, and make the drinks very quickly even with constant customers. My cappuccino was made within a minute of ordering, and it was perfect! Not too sweet, not heavy at all. They don't seem to use sweetened almond milk. The espresso flavor was incredible. Added cocoa powder in the pic. 5/5.

Best coffee in town. My cappuccino was heavenly. Service was super friendly. I would totally come back here and work as there's a nice little space to sit with free Wi-Fi.

Great coffee, great lemon cake, great service. What else needs to be said. Oh, when you walk in this is the Nantucket vibe you are expecting and it's not overpriced like the Lemon Press downtown.

$9 for the worst latte I've ever hard ! Was barely lukewarm and was so weak I could barely taste any coffee just a cup of sadness and foam very disappointing

I came here with my friend since we were staying in the area and wanted to check it out. They have a cute outdoor seating area, and some tables inside as well. Their drink menu is pretty extensive and they also have pastries and other light fare to eat. They sell coffee, hats and other merch with their logo on it and the service was great. I would definitely recommend if you find yourself in Nantucket.

The worst matcha ever!!!! Ordered a vanilla iced matcha with light ice with almond milk. A 10 year old was taking my order and only wrote down iced matcha. They got my order wrong... The matcha it's self was watery bc they fil the whole cup up with ice and also added no sweetener. I had them remake it but it still did not taste good. I had to go over to the corner table to add some more milk and simple syrup. Definitely don't go here for matcha!

Don't have dark roast coffee Their medium roast ok, but with twenty different lattes, mocha and endless specialty coffees, having no Dark roast sucks. Muffins are good.

The coffee & pastry were both good. The building was cute and picturesque. The staff were unfriendly, barely spoke, charged us for, but forgot to give us our 2nd pastry. No one said good morning, they barely answered our questions for suggestions, gave one word answers, and caused our excitement for being there to diminish.

I found this super cute freshly ground coffee shop on the island of Nantucket. It's not easy to find a place that truly has great coffee, even after reading reviews. The perception of great coffee truly lies with the individual and what might be great to one, not so much to the next. For me, Handlebar aced all my coffee needs, considering the availability of great coffee on the island is slim to none. Easy to order, and they have a cute few tables & chairs outside to sip & watch the people go by. It is also dog friendly with water bowls at the ready. It's kind of off the beaten path so it's not super busy. That made it all the more attractive to me. It's almost like a neighborhood joint with locals frequenting the place. It's also across the street from a bus depot which didn't really make any difference to the volume of people in the coffee shop.

One of the best coffee in town .... First time i tried the lavender coffee its so good i just add some coconut syrup taste way too good lol! This is your spot don't miss it ... service is fast ambiance is welcoming ..

Got coffees here with my husband. I actually didn't even go inside because I had the kids in a double stroller, my husband went inside and ordered and brought it out to us. So couldn't even tell you what it looks like inside. But it was nice sitting outside and they had a cool classic car sitting out there with their logo on it. I had the vanilla oat milk latte and it was delicious, really enjoyed it. Yes, this place was expensive but I think everywhere here is lol.

We were thrilled to have discovered this coffee shop on the island. It was a blisteringly hot day and we needed a pick me up after our ferry ride. They had a long line but it was worth the wait. A delicious iced americano was had! The staff is quite young and they try to work quickly to meet the needs of all their customers. The blueberry muffin was also so tasty and fresh. They brew compass coffee which we had never heard of before being from the west coast and we really loved it. One of the owners of Compass was there visiting that day. Would highly recommend a visit for a cuppa!

Really good coffee! Probably best I've had on Nantucket. I wish they had some more food options but it is a coffee shop after all. Definitely recommend this place!

Decent nitro , subpar cookies and really rude service by the woman that was preparing the coffee today at 245 PM.

Good, not great. The owner is very accommodating, we went during Covid and our child has sensory issues but he was more than happy to work with us to make sure we got to try it. The park straws were a tad flimsy and mine was no longer usable before I could finish my coffee. I'd probably go back if I am ever in the area again.

The best coffee on the island hands down. Get the nitro cold brew, unlike any other nitro you have ever had. Great walk from the ferry down the bike path which a nice coffee reward at the end! Lots of outdoor seating both in the front and in the back garden. Also the bus terminal is across the street, easy access to everything on Nantucket.

Cute cafe right off of Main Street in downtown Nantucket across the street from the Greyhound bus station. Limited outdoor seating with lots of options to hide under the shade on a hot summer day. I had the ice coffee. It was robust blend, just how I like it. I'd stop by here again if I was in the area.

Great coffee but very strange hand written prices on board are very incorrect. Ordered 3 drinks and price cost $8 extra than board - might be nice for workers to at least let you know prices on board are incorrect or not have a board at all if it's completely wrong.

Yum!!!! Best coffee we found on Nantucket. This place is great. And for non-dairy folks, they have oat milk! Also, if you get there early enough, my husband said the scones are great as well. We made it our morning stop. They do have order ahead online as an option, but we never used it. Even with people there, they move pretty fast.

My husband and I visited on a cold, rainy, and windy day. I had this coffee shop bookmarked on my collection in my Yelp app. I was I researched so we knew exactly where to go. We enjoyed our first visit grabbing lattes and muffins to go. Our second visit was even better when we took the time to take a seat, enjoy our hot drinks, and read the literature provided. This is an eclectic little shop we're all are welcomed, even your furry friends. Everyone we encountered was friendly and knowledgeable of the many options. We will visit this again on our next trip to Nantucket.

It was a very rainy and cold day today, so we decided to duck into Handlebar for to warm up and grab a quick coffee. The cafe had a very cozy and inviting atmosphere, and the counter service was very quick. I only got a cheese stick (lol), but my friend got a latte which she described as being "perfectly foamy and delicious"

Things I loved about Handlebar: - Dog friendly! - Nice staff - The option for a "cup of sunshine" coffee beverage Things that were okay about Handlebar: - Dark roast was middle of the road when it came to coffees I've like (not as bad as Starbucks, not as good as ones like Stumptown) Things I didn't love about Handlebar: - The 20 minute wait to order and receive two drip coffees and a "cup of sunshine" - The inaccuracy of my "cup of sunshine" order (ordered iced and almond milk, came out and made with whole milk) which I admittedly did not flag because I was ready to get out of there Given I'm not a regular and seeing these other reviews, I'm guessing I hit them up on a challenging morning so would give them another shot next time I'm on ACK.

Great nitro cold brew. A little off Main Street quiet setting. This character minimum thing from Yelp is irritating.

Overall, this is a great addition to the island overall. The space is great for hanging out and the owners and staff are incredibly friendly. However, if your are a coffee aficionado/snob (which I admit to being), don't set your bar too high. While this place is a significant step up from stale diner coffee, it's drinks are more on par with Starbucks than Blue Bottle. The cappuccino's come in 12 oz cups (again, starbuck-ish) and, last I checked, none of the beans for retail have a roasted date. There are so many great roasters in Massachusetts, it be great so see them step up the bean game! Again, not something many people will notice or care about, but left me disappointed. I haven't found a place on island that has coffee at the level that I prefer, so handlebar will continue to be my go onto for now.

Best iced coffee on Nantucket. Especially on a hot day! Love that they have a doggy bark station with ample water for pups. It's the perfect location in the heart of Nantucket Harbor. Friendly service!

Great coffee spot in Nantucket. I felt that the shop was very clean and practiced social distancing very well. I ordered an iced caramel latte with almond milk and it was perfect! Will be returning here on my next trip to Nantucket!

I go here all the time to visit because there's really no other place like Handlebar! The atmosphere is great - there's always good music, and the decorations/art are wonderful. The outdoor garden seating is the perfect place to relax in the morning, too. Get an iced coffee with cocoa powder, oat milk, and a little chocolate syrup if you want the perfect drink! Funky funny, friendly as hell, stocked with some of the best coffee products on the island and you have what is distinctly "The Handlebar". It's worth going out of your way to visit and that's backed up by their almost unanimous five star rating. It's so easy to hang out in the big room they have and their coffee is out of this world. I would not miss it if I were you. You'll wish you would've made that one last stop, and they're located right on the margin of town's edge. It's very walkable from where ever you are.

Butter beer latte.. A Harry Potter fan must. Excellent flavor. Right across from the town WAVE stop. Great set up for COVID safe ordering and pick up.

My favorite turmeric latte in town. It's spicy, creamy, and a nice level of sweet. It's not far from Main Street and for me it was an easy walk from the hotel.

Coffee isn't great. Probably using low quality beans. Ordered an Americano and a cortado. Both tasted like water. Staff was nice and the location is beautiful.

Absolutely adorable coffee shop close to the wharf. Great selection of hot and iced drinks. Always pretty packed, but the line moves quickly. There are some tables both inside and out, as well as a garden space outside that's dog-friendly. Best cold brew and iced matcha lattes on the island! Don't expect too many grab-and-go options - strictly coffee drinks!

I've never been on Nantucket before; I'm only here for Thanksgiving with my friend, Sophie, who I met in college. Ever since I met her, she hasn't stopped talking about her favorite coffee place back at home, Handlebar! I had to check it out. I've been on the island for 4 days so far... and I've been to Handlebar 3 times. The first time I ordered the mocha latte. Unfortunately, I had a bad case of the sniffles and could barely taste anything. The other 2 times I visited, I ordered the chai latte which was absolutely delicious. One note: tax is included in all the drinks, so it is quite easy to pay with cash. They also have cute merchandise around the cafe like shirts and mugs. I actually have two stickers on my laptop that I'm writing this review on! The staff is extremely kind, the atmosphere is great, and it is an overall awesome place to hang out, get coffee, or study. Hopefully I'll be able to visit one more time before we go back to college!

I was very impressed with my drink. The cafe was a hole in the wall which I love (especially for cafes). I ordered the mocha latte just for a little snack and it was amazing. The best mocha latte I have ever had. If you happen to be walking around Downtown Nantucket definitely go to the Handlebar Cafe. The best coffee I have ever had.

The mocha I ordered was missing a very important ingredient---FLAVOR. tasted the paper cup and foam. No restroom. Barista suggests bus station across the street..

Perfect. That's the word to describe the Handlebar Café. It's nicely situated on the east side of town near Main St. Very cute and friendly café. Loved the local artwork that was on display. The coffee was excellent - definitely our new go-to coffee spot whenever we're in Nantucket. We had seen the owners Jason and Courtney on HGTV's House Hunters. So we introduced ourselves to Jason, who was very nice and shared how they came about starting the Handlebar Café. It was great to see how they've made the café into a central community gathering spot. As we sat outside drinking our coffee, it was great to see the number of locals stopping to grab coffee in the mid afternoon. It's such a nice spot, we had to come back a few more times during our Nantucket stay. Handlebar Café gets an A+ in my book. Looking forward to returning to Nantucket - and visiting the Handlebar Café again.

For the rare occasion that you may be actually working on Nantucket, this place is the perfect spot. I think I stopped by here at least once everyday of my trip. It's a local gem! Here are just a few reasons why I love the Handlebar Cafe so much: It's quiet, spacious, has free wifi, coffee is fantastic, staff is friendly, they have a secret outside garden, centrally located in the historic downtown Nantucket.
