Hangar Amsterdam

What a beautiful place, perhaps the most special, unique location in Amsterdam. Interior is also amazing. The (really quick) ferry trip, if anything, makes it even more special. The ravioli was also very good, but I can't say the best I had this year, just pretty good.

That was a nightmare experience! We booked a table based on their Sail Fest promotion, which promised a nice view of the water, a relaxing atmosphere, and delicious food. We received none of that. If we hadn’t already paid more than €80 per person in advance, we would have left as soon as we saw our table. Instead of a water view, we were placed far away, stuck between the grill area and the music stage, where it was so loud we couldn’t even hear ourselves. We waited half an hour just to receive the menu. The food was terrible, and even after I clearly ordered a non-alcoholic mocktail several times (being visibly pregnant), they brought me an alcoholic drink! This was the worst dining experience I’ve had in Amsterdam. Don’t give them any money in advance , it’s basically a scam. Our evening was completely ruined, and we didn’t even wait for the last meal to arrive before leaving

Food was ok-ish. Chicken from charcoal was black and not too much taste. A sauce with it would help a lot. Fries were good. Staff was trying their best and obviously working hard however too little people available both in the kitchen and the terrace.

The view is great, the location very nice and the food especially the Caesar salad I had was super. Sadly you should not order when the menu has been changed. When I went there second round the salad had difference big difference still good but not the same. So quality control or predictable meals is not there. But I would do it again. Nice place lovely stuff.

A Wonderful Spot by the IJ River I visited this place nestled alongside the beautiful IJ River, and I must say it left a lasting impression on me. The location alone makes it a gem, offering a serene and picturesque view that truly enhances the overall experience. Upon entering, I was immediately captivated by the soothing ambiance and the delightful music playing in the background. The atmosphere was relaxed, inviting, and perfect for unwinding with friends or loved ones. What pleasantly surprised me was their pet-friendly policy, as I noticed several adorable dogs enjoying the space alongside their owners. This added touch of inclusivity made the place even more charming. I particularly recommend trying the tuna melt brood. Despite the slow service, I cannot emphasize enough how wonderful this place is. The prime location by the IJ River, the inviting atmosphere, the good music, and the fact that they welcome dogs all contribute to its charm.

What? That was awesome. Menu with a lot of options were great and the taste was really good. The service, staff, atmosphere was incredible. Prices are great compared to a regular riverside fancy restaurant. Must see.

What gem. Serious beach vibes here. Tons of outdoor seating right by the water. The food is decent but expensive. They have a sandy area for kids to play and grownups to relax in the hammocks. The service is good for Dutch standards. Perfect place to go for lunch or dinner on a sunny day. Edit: Recent experience the service was quite bad and the manager berated the waitstaff in front of us, which was very unpleasant.

We went there to soak up some sun on these last few summer days in Amsterdam, had some drinks on the couches facing the IJ. Really enjoyed the set up! However, drinks are small for the price paid and the service has to be improved (we were forgotten by the staff as majority of the customers were arriving for dinner).

The ambiance was good. The food was lekker. The service was top notch. I had a blast experience.

We loved the Hanger!! It was a beautiful summer Saturday night and the restaurant was packed. Everyone was dressed in their beautiful summer attire for a memorable evening alfresco dinner. Such a lovely vibe on the Amstel river at sunset. As most restaurants and businesses in the area, they where short staffed but everyone is hustling. The service is slow but it is understandable. We enjoyed our bottle of rosé and years of friendship on the end-of-summer night. My friend had been here previously to COVID, there was a "beach" but dining tables have been added. The reimagined hanger was fun and beautiful. We hope to go back and eat soon. Reservations are encouraged for the weekend. Big on aesthetic, little on substance. This place looks great and the staff are very nice, but it is in desperate need of a better chef & menu. Your place can be cool and in a great location, but if the food falls short none of that matters. Five of us dined in, sampling the steak, curry, pasta, etc. The steak was raw and tasteless, the curry had some taste, but the vegetables were barely cooked and I got mild food poisoning. The consensus from the group was a complete lack of substance to this menu. Also, the menu is all over the place. Pick a cuisine and master that before you try to tackle something else. Don't waste your money here unless it's just drinks.

It's all about location location location. This place is an excellent spot by day and by night. We didn't have dinner just snacks but they were nothing special. The bitterballen tasted cheap and the fries were dry and the mayonnaise was plain. I really expected more quality from a place like this. The staff was good & polite. I recommend this place if you want to have drinks with good company and enjoy a great view over "het IJ".

Deserves to close down. 20 minute wait for even a menu or cutlery despite being 75% empty. Waitstaff standing idle faffing about behind the bar. Menu is nothing to write home about - same boring sandwiches and uninspired beetroot salad. Tiny portions for very high prices.16 euros for spring chicken and fries? 10 euros for bread with canned tuna? Really? Unset tiramisu that was like hospital pudding and carelessly made latte. Only good thing was the decor- so just replace the entire front and kitchen staff with people who actually want to be there and do something worthwhile and maybe this place may stand a chance. do not go here, you've been warned.

New spot in the industrial growing North, by the water. Industrial created warehouse (hangar), wooden floor, old chairs and deco, fasionable minimalist though. Warm and nice welcome by the owner, friendly and warm staff too. Menu is simple and very good and tasty, tried pumkin salad as entree (great taste and texture) and fish as a main. The fish sits on a vegetable cream, all goes well together. The pinot gris was also very nice. Desert was again awesome, went for the grilled ananas with mascarpone mousse, delicious! It's a must try. Will definitely go back.

Beautiful restaurant with chic interiors. Shame about the service, which is terrible. We were asked for a reservation during lunch when the restaurant was clearly almost empty, then made to wait 10 minutes for the menu to arrive. Nobody took our drink orders or set our table with napkins and cutlery. The food is average for the prices they are charging. I had six pieces of tortelloni for €16,50 and a goopy tiramisu that clearly had not had time to set. I suppose if you want to have the same old makreel or smoked salmon sandwich in a slight fancier setting, you will like it here. If you are heading all the way out here, better eat next door at the Goudfazant, better food, value and service all around.

This restaurant is located in an industrial area hidden off the beaten path. It resides in an old airplane hangar that's remodeled. The inside is cute with charming aesthetics of a modern European fine dining restaurant. The food and service is fantastic and the view of the river adds to the experience. If you're in Amsterdam this place is s good spot to add to your list of restaurants.
