Big modern varied department store. The thing that amazes me was the food and dessert hall at the basement. It's like a mini Harrods but for japanese food. The desserts are marvelous. This is like a distillation of various pastry shops/ Japanese/ Korean foods. Saves you the time to go to individual restaurants if you want a small over view of Japanese dishes. Very practical to go to because of the station location.

We enjoyed an afternoon of shopping at Hankyu in Kita. It was about ten days before Christmas, and my spouse and I found great gifts to bring back to the States. The spaces reserved for pop-up designers allowed independent artisans to sell their creations. That was cool. I also purchased a gently used Haori that was beautiful. That was an exciting purchase for me. Hankyu Department Store also has a two-floor Depachika, a food hall, that has a fantastic array of items for sale. I have never seen anything like it, including the depachikas in Tokyo and Paris. There are even cooking demonstrations that were fun to watch, even though I can't speak Japanese.

Large shopping complex in the Omeda area near the Osaka train station. Too many brands to list, some high end retail, over many floors. and The basement has a great food hall.

One of Osaka’s most elegant and complete department stores. Hankyu Umeda is a must-visit for anyone who loves shopping, food, or beautiful presentation. Every floor feels refined — from high-end fashion and Japanese cosmetics to an amazing basement food hall (depachika) that’s truly world-class. The basement floor is heaven for food lovers — there are endless options of sweets, bento, desserts, and local specialties beautifully displayed. Even just walking around feels like an experience.

Wow, what a department store.. it's fantastic. And if you visit in December you must go and see their beautiful Christmas window displays.

I was so glad to find a prayer room on the 8th floor of Hankyu Umeda Main Store. It’s clean, quiet, and has separate rooms for men and women, complete with wudu areas and prayer mats. The room can be used freely during opening hours (10:00–20:00). Perfect location near Osaka and Umeda Stations, making it super convenient for Muslim travelers. Thank you, Hankyu Umeda, for your thoughtful hospitality!

As far as department stores go, I reckon this is the Gold standard in the Kansai region. Well-connected, has 2 basement levels plus 10 above ground levels with everything from cosmetics to clothing to home wares. I especially liked their dedicated floor for artisanal handmade goods. Service is excellent as there are lots of staff and for many places you tend to get a one-on-one experience.

Yelp
Incredible department store in the heart of Umeda! It can get a bit overwhelming so I typically research the floors and make a game plan before visiting. During Valentines Day they transformed an entire floor to chocolate and other Valentine's Day vendors which was mind blowing (they even have Bulgari chocolates with gold leaf, chocolate curry and beers!). I presume they do these special pop-ups for other holidays too. Anywho, the basement floor has a phenomenal market too where you get find tons of various food vendors for takeout (salads, Japanese, fish, tempura, etc). Important to know there is nowhere to eat it so plan on taking it home, to a park or your hotel. There's also a 551 there ;) Conveniently connected to Umeda Station and 4 min walk from Midosuji exit of Osaka station. Note: there is a "Hankyu Mens" across the street!!!

Yelp
Love this department store! Their food basement is amazing! The sake section is nice and includes free samples. They have representatives there to sample and answer questions about different local sake regions. They are knowledgable and helpful. I even tried one sake made with Iwai rice from Kyoto prefecture. This is really rare and interesting. Of course I bought some of that to take home! They have beautiful but insanely, expensive fruit. They had a single mango for about $65 USD. While I would never purchase that, I was most amused that obviously someone would. I'm sure it's crazy delicious though. High end fruit in Japan is surprisingly worth it sometimes worth it flavor wise. They also have the usual department store goods you'd expect here the many other floors. However, I usually spend most of my time in the food section. It's usually a must stop for me when I visit Osaka.

Yelp
This place has a basement chock-full of different goods, had the best hokkaido white cream curry pan I've ever had in my life down here. Nice bakery with unique bread items like matcha bread too.

Yelp
I called this department store "fake Harrods" because of it's shameless resemblance in their name's font to the London store. This store had the best food hall of all the stores I went to in Osaka. You had seemingly scores of options for food. I think there were at least 10 bakeries inside. The facilities are spotless and the decor is elegant. The produce and grocery items were also tempting, but I still can't get myself to buy a cantaloupe for $20. I went for the soba restaurant upstairs and had an enjoyable meal there. I'm sure I can get cheaper somewhere else but it satisfied me nicely. The other restaurants looked enticing as well and the layout of the restaurants is similar to other Japanese department stores. One of the top floors has an exhibition hall so they'll rotate fairs and such. I just happened to be there for the baked goods exhibition that week, which absolutely tempted me like no other. There were bakeries and hotels from the city that had tables selling their baked goods. I could've bought the entire hall but settled upon the Ritz Carlton's offerings. Those croissants were amazeballs.

Yelp
Probably one of the oldest department store in Osaka and though it's a department store, Hankyu is one of the symbol for Osaka, Kyoto and Kobe area. This is not a place I would normally shop but when I want some really nice and fancy cake for gifts and for myself this is one of the place I would normally go. The basement area is where all the delicious food and pastries are and is my favorite place in this building. Service ? It's Hankyu you will be treated like you are the most important customer of all. Price? It's Hankyu, it's bound to pricey but definitely a good quality item.

Yelp
Hankyu Dpt. store Umeda Hall I sometimes win a pair of tickets to movie preview screening. I invite a friend of mine to see the movie with me. Twice I saw previews here. Recently-opened this hall is spacious and clean. In addition, this is convenient for its location. It's vicinity of the stations of various railway companies. I can enjoy shopping, having lunch, dinner, or tea. Insides the department store is a theater hall, how excellent it is!!!

Yelp
I stayed in Osaka, Japan for almost 10 days and I'm not even kidding but I went to this department store almost every single day! And no, not for shopping! But more for food shopping! If you've been to Japan then you know that department stores have their first 1-2 sometimes even 3 floors dedicated to just FOOD!!!! Yes, you heard me right! Fresh, endless varieties of food and drinks! There's so much bakery food that you'll actually get confused and maybe end up starving because it's impossible to pick and choose. It all looked so damn good! Everyone is beyond sweet especially to someone like myself who doesn't speak Japanese. Plus, I eat only halal and a lot of the food has some sort of meat or pork. I had to use google translate! Haha! Overall, this department store is the high end department store with amazing high end food choices, deserts and off course the usual shopping on the rest of its floors! Love this place!!!!!

Yelp
Hankyu is an upscale department store on par with Saks Fifth Ave in the US. I came here to admire the beautiful holiday windows featuring Lisa and Gaspar on a trip to New York, which made me a little homesick. The staff here is friendly and speaks english too which was helpful when I had to use the bathroom here. Definitely stop here to catch the holiday lights and windows and maybe even do some shopping.

Yelp
Such a fun place! It is like an open market with the 2 basement floors dedicated to food. Upper levels with luxury goods. We could spend the whole day here and not be bored. We totally recommend coming here and enjoying the food, drinks and crowds.

Yelp
Just finished my fourth trip to Japan and my first visit to this store. I was interested in purchasing cle de peau skin care and it was close to my Hilton hotel. First please remember to shop with your passport as you will get a 5% off coupon off for foreign customers and you will get the 8% tax back minus a small fee at a station on basement floor. Great deal and even though a cle de peau had a gift it sold out in one day. They gave me some samples though. I wanted two sets of the intensive brightening masks and they were sold out on second floor. The nicest cosmetic woman ever called the sixth floor counter. They had some do she escorted me there. Nicest young lady. Got those items and another. I loved this store. Tiffany, Chanel, you name it. They also carried MDNA skin line by Madonna sold only in Japan. It was a wonderful shopping experience.

Yelp
I can get lost in this multi level (floors) of shops! In fact I did! Couldn't remember if I went up or down an escalator or elevator or for that matter which one! All the shops and sales associates are very attentive and polite. You don't find them just standing around talking stories with each other. They were always moving folding something or straightening the items. Very clean place as a whole. Go shopping!

Yelp
A bit on the expensive side but great customer service. Peaches here are 880 yen for three. Can purchase at other supermarkets for a lot cheaper price. There was also hair in a pudding I bought from there so be careful.
