Great experience! Wonderful staff and tasting room, beautiful grounds, easy and relaxing. We came here as a result of a bad experience we had tasting down the road at a neighboring vineyard. This spot looked cute so we decided to try to save our afternoon and drop in. we were NOT disappointed! The lady inside working Sunday afternoon (1/24/21) was so friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. She helped us pick the perfect glasses, and the perfect second glasses! She had wonderful suggestions for our preferences, was funny, and also knows all the best spots around the property for views and great photos. 10/10 would recommend coming here and having a glass or two!

Great experience overall! I drive up with my boyfriend for my birthday to visit some friends and we felt like trying out one of the many wineries around the area. This place is so beautiful and I loved the backstory of how the barn and house area were converted eventually for the tasting room and other areas for the winery. We didn’t like the white wines THAT much but they had amazing reds! They were so good and I loved that our host really helped us with pairing the wine with some of their cheeses. Let me tell you, those cheeses were sooo good. One of them just melts in your mouth and they went so well with the wine! Our host was so kind and took pictures of us and let us roam around the vineyard a bit. It was such a relaxing day! Excited to visit again in the future!

We had an excellent private experience at Hanna, hosted by Sam. We were the only guests at the winery and enjoyed a personalized experience with a “Happy Anniversary” greeting placement. We enjoyed all of the wines and ended up purchasing a bottle of the Elias Pinot Noir

We had a great time with Josephine! She was knowledgeable, approachable, and made our experience with new wines wonderful. Highly recommend the wine and cheese pairings!

The original family winery/estate for the Hanna’s, we had a blast with Mary on a beautiful Wednesday afternoon! Delicious wines- the reds were our favorites!

Google
Wow, so much to say about Hanna winery. First off, lovely little tasting room not too far off the beaten path. Such a variety of wines! They make something for everyone--my favorite were the red blends and the lighter whites. I was hosted by Sarah and Josephine, who were both wonderful. Sarah was very knowledgeable and attentive, and a pleasure to talk to. But I must say, Josephine was the star of the show. She answered all my questions, was ready with the next wine before I had to ask, and really elevated the service experience. Please stop by, and say hello to Josephine, she's the bomb!

I've enjoyed multiple tastings at Hanna Winery, and became a member too!! The views of the vineyards with the picnic tables are perfect for an afternoon nibble with the tastings. I'm blanking on the lady's name, but Patrick and the lady are lovely and personable. I highly recommend a visit here at Hanna on Occidental Road.

Google
The staff is always SO friendly, the wines are great, and the view is lovely. Nestled into the vineyard with mountains fringing the horizon all around. This is one of my favorite spots to stop by for a glass of Pinot or Chardonnay. Their wines by the glass are priced in tiers, which I love! Have only visited the location on Occidental Rd. (if I’m not mistaken, there is a second spot somewhere?) and will come back here again and again.

Yelp
This is a small winery, second-generation and woman-owned. I recommend sitting outside, which, even though it is off the parking lot, it's better than the ambiance inside, which reminds me of an office building lobby. It is off of Occidental and surrounded by rows of vines, like many others on that road. The wines are fine--the pours are not generous, but you will get 5-6 different tastes for $35. You will find something you like--I especially enjoyed the Sauvignon Blanc that is sold more widely and a Zin that tasted even better at home. I wish that at least one of the tasting fees would have been comped with a purchase.

Yelp
My wife and I are big fans of Hanna Winery, especially after our visit to the Alexander Valley location. That spot gave us such a great tasting experience--wonderful wine, personable service, and bottles that are always reasonably priced. Naturally, when we were recommended to try their original location, we were excited to see what it had to offer. This spot certainly has its charm. The wine, as expected, was fantastic. We had an intimate tasting experience since we were the only customers there at the time, yet the service managed to strike the perfect balance between personal and relaxed. It didn't feel awkwardly quiet; instead, it felt like the staff genuinely enjoyed sharing their knowledge and love for the wines with us. That said, coming from Healdsburg where we stayed, the experience just didn't quite measure up to the Alexander Valley location. It lacked that extra "wow" factor that made it so memorable for us. While we're glad we visited and can appreciate the history of this OG location, we'd definitely say Alexander Valley is worth the trip if you have to choose between the two. A solid spot, but for us, Alexander Valley remains the gold standard.

Yelp
Sam and Maddie were amazing and took great care of us. The wine was really good, the service was even better.

Yelp
How adorable is this place?! I can't get over how wonderful my experience was here at Hanna! Came for a tasting during a wine club member appreciation event and Hanna was my FAVORITE winery visit! First of all, the grounds! So damn CUTE! Their indoor tasting area is quaint and cozy and their patio is nestled right next to their beautiful vineyards. Hanna offers a very personal and intimate tasting experience which I love. Since I was tasting solo, I decided to make myself comfortable on the sofa and taste inside. Sarah and Josephine were AMAZING! These ladies are super knowledgeable about the wines and they were both so bubbly and fun to chat with. They set up my tastings and gave me some wine country crackers to snack on as I sipped away. Started off light with their estate grown Chardonnay and Sonoma County Rosé. If you've never had white wine from Hanna before, then honey... YOU are certainly missing out! Their Chardonnay is exquisite. Really bright, creamy, and crisp. It's got that 50% malolactic fermentation going on, so if you're into creamy Chards, this one is definitely for you. Fortunately for me, I'm a huge fan of creamy, so I fell in love with it instantly. Their rosé is also very pleasing. If you're into fruity, crisp, and minimal oak, this Rosé is perfect. It's a wonderful summer sipper. Very light and enjoyable. The white wines are absolutely amazing here, but so are their reds. After enjoying their Chardonnay and Rosé, I moved onto their estate grown Pinot Noir and their Sonoma County Zinfandel. That Pinot Noir! Dear heavens... just fantastic! My kind of Pinot for sure. It too is also a product of malolactic fermentation but 100% on this baby. Think jammy, juicy, soft, and smooth. It was delicious. I'm a fan of Burgundian style Pinots and this one was just singing to my palate. A beautiful example of an excellent Russian River Pinot indeed. Their fruity Zinfandel was also enjoyable. Y'all; not one bad wine in the house! EVERY wine that I tried was amazing. Went home with a bottle of their Chardonnay and Rosé since these were my two faves. Can't forget to mention their reasonable bottle prices! I appreciate that so much, especially during these times. Had an incredible time chatting it up with Sarah and Josephine. Also loved being about to walk around the property and explore. They have a cute little tasting setup where you can taste among the trees! I believe that they're Redwoods (they look like Sequoias), but I may be wrong. Either way, it's a gorgeous place to sit back and enjoy the view. This isn't your typical overly crowded estate. I really loved the personal experience that I had here. It really speaks to the excellent service that they provide. So excited to come back to Hanna and very grateful that I was able to discover this winery during the wine club member appreciation event.

Yelp
Hanna Winery is a well known establishment in west county for wine tasting and one that I have visited on several occasions. First and foremost, the property is very quaint, but do not expect a luxurious Napa esque setting as you will be disappointed. Growing up in the area, I am more accustomed to more of the low-key wineries rather than the eloquence you may receive over the mountain. With that said, their outside is beautiful, and the inside is quite nice as well. Now, their wines, I always steer towards their delicious Sauvignon Blanc, but they do offer other varieties as well. I do enjoy some of their bolder reds from time to time from the local stores, but I'd suggest you visit for some wines you may not be able to find in the stores. Fast forward to my visit, staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. I have sat outside the several times I have visited, which is great for the warmer months. Pricing is about standard for the area, but you are getting qualities wines, so there is that to think about. All and all, I always enjoy and recommend Hanna to those looking for additional winery visits in the area.

Yelp
So happy New Year! Ambiance is lovely- God's work of nature and vines is spectacular. And yet at $35 per person to taste these mediocre blends is a bit stiff. There was only one, yes one staff person to serve 19 guests. She ran back and forth and was reluctant to tend to us because she was waiting for a large group to arrive. No food and we had to ask for crackers between blends. Ok maybe one of the pours was quite good but there are plenty of better choices in this area rich in wine.

Yelp
Stopped by on the way to Sonoma zipline adventures. The place is lovely, setting and service are superb, but the wines on the tasting menu were just so-so, a bit pricy for the quality.

Yelp
To be honest, I cannot recall a visit to a winery or a tasting room that wasn't enjoyable and relaxing. This place would rank at the top for friendliness, without frills. We sat outside and Sarah brought out different varietals and vintages and explained a bit. She wasn't trying to sell anything. We drank. That was it. Then of course we bought a case. It might have been more. That makes for an enjoyable family afternoon.

Yelp
Fun little spot that we found just off the main road. The lovely lady introduced us to a lot of whites like Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc (our picks) surprised by the Pinot noir's at this location too! We had the place to ourselves...rainy day. Both of us wore the right color for our Pic!

Yelp
We were out running errands including a trip to the DMV so by 3 o'clock we were ready for a glass of wine. We checked the Sonoma Passport website and Hanna was on the list and not too far away. Hanna has a small, welcoming tasting room with super friendly and helpful staff. Mary was great, always making sure our glasses were filled and explaining every wine. We loved the Sauvignon Blanc and the Pinot Noir. Definitely a nice stop if you're in the Sebastopol area.

Yelp
I recently moved to the area from Petaluma and was in search of my new go to local winery. So thankful I found Hanna, 5 mins away! The scenery is beautiful, the wines delish, and the service top notch. Highly recommend Hannah (our server : ) She has taken great care of us and is incredibly knowledgeable about the wines. We became members on our first visit! I think we've been there almost every weekend since joining last month for free tastings on the patio. I love that you can also bring your own food and buy by the glass/bottle.

Yelp
We decided on a last minute stop prior to heading to Oakland airport after visiting the Healdsburg area. We've always enjoyed Hanna wine but it truly has been a while since we visited the winery. We were met by the most friendly, knowledgeable young woman who happens to be named Hannah. She entertained our story of how we attended a Hanna tasting a few years back at Hanna's restaurant in south Orange County (no relationship between the restaurant or winery) and was so kind and friendly. We joined the club and look forward to the many varietals we will receive. I loved the Petit Verdot and the Chardonnays (we are almost exclusively drawn to reds so this was a great surprise)! Thank you Hannah, your future looks bright!

Yelp
Visit this winery! We've made several trips to Sonoma Co. over the past 10+ years to visit family and I'm not sure why we've never been here before. The wines are superb, the atmosphere lovely & relaxing, and the service personalized and friendly. Just an all around excellent experience.

Yelp
We had an excellent time visiting Hanna Winery again. We were hosted by Ted (he only works on Thursdays). We had the "Picnic under the big oak tree" which allowed us to have both a wine tasting and a pre-ordered lunch from Oakville Grocery. We enjoyed a nice outdoor lunch in a Shady location while each wine was served. Hanna is known for its Sauvignon blanc, and they also have a great Rose and Malbec. I'm generally more of a Cabernet Sauvignon than a Pinot Nior, but I love this Pinot Nior for when friends come over where that is their favorite. I definitely recommend.

Yelp
Nice winery to stop at for a relaxing flight of wines at the bar or outside on the patio. Recommend tating inside and enjoying the back patio with a bottle to share when done tasting.

Josh S.

Yelp
Sam was very helpful and knowledgeable with our tasting today. The outside seating is very beautiful with the vineyard right next to your seating.

Yelp
Hanna is one of my favorite wineries. I've had their wine multiple times throughout the years with family and I had great experiences at the winery both times I visited. I have always been happy with the service (special shout out to Sarah). Their wine is amazing HOWEVER the wines you get with the flight our their "lower tier" wines and I'll admit even I don't love them. Once you get into the extra pours and you can try some of the higher tier wines that is were the magic happens. On our recent visit we tried a couple of their Malbecs and loved them. I highly recommend this winery and if you visit you must try something from their high tier selections.

Anne Michelle C.

Yelp
Great wine, good view and amazing people. First stop in wine country and I'm impressed. Ted was a warm host and very informative of the story behind the winery and Dr Hanna. Sam did an amazing job supporting and learning from Ted. I don't want to spoil it so you'll have to take the trip to hear it from him (tip: he only works on Thursdays). Definitely good Reserve Chardonnay. If you're looking for a laid back, relaxing experience... Hanna is definitely the place to visit.

Yelp
GOOD Tasting here was excellent ($15) if you buy wine it's the same as everywhere...it goes towards purchase. I really enjoyed the pinot grigio off the tasting menu...wasn't expecting the first tasting to be so good...the pourings are generous and service was excellent from the younger lady and older gentleman. There's nice seating outside to sip and see the vines..the place is very manicured and we'll maintained.

Yelp
I want to start by saying I really hate leaving bad reviews and will only leave them for experiences where I would pay to avoid it. I've been to a lot of wineries including the other Hanna winery location but this was by far the worst experience I've ever had. I had family in town and based on how gorgeous and nice the other Hanna location is - I took them here. It was honestly the worst experience and we ended up pouring out 3/6 wines to get out of there quickly. We did the wine and cheese pairing but the cheese they gave was wrong - they gave some people the 3 varieties as expected while others only had 2 (repeated twice). If they were busy I would understand the oversight but there was literally no one else. On top of it there were like 40 flies landing on us and our food/wine glasses. It was so gross and felt like we were drinking in their parking lot. I don't know why we weren't seated near the actual vineyard - maybe it was because we're Asian but who knows. We had to cover everything with our napkins and tried to constantly swat the flies away but the servers couldn't care less. I will not go back to this location and was going to return to the Alexander Valley location but now will not do that. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

Yelp
I've always loved Hanna Sauvignon blanc from Costco! It's my all time favorite wine. I was so happy when I saw this winery when I was driving to another winery. All their wines were so good! We bought two bottles of the Chardonnay. We could buy Sauvignon blanc at Costco so we didn't need to buy more. The elder lady who helped us was really friendly, informative, and nice. She made our experience amazing! There's also like 3 tables for picnic. Glad we came on an off day so we could picnic and drink the wine we bought. Prices could be a bit pricey depending on what you buy.

Yelp
Saw this beautiful tasting room on the side of the road and decided to stop by on a whim. Ended up doing a tasting and the titan was an instant favorite of mine. Initially I had no intention of purchasing a bottle, but after splendid help from Chris, I left with a Rose and the titan. Great service, great wine, and a beautiful spot to stop by on a nice day!

Paige H.

Yelp
Hanna Winery was so wonderful! Jojo, our server, was so knowledgeable and so kind. She was very patient with us when we asked questions and willingly took the time to help us. Could not recommend Hanna winery more. Plus all their wine is locally sourced, so if you want to support a local business this would be the place. The scenery was stunning to top it off.

Jayne S.

Yelp
Ted was great sharing the history of Hanna and the differences in the wines. Loved the Pinot noir! Had a relaxing lunch outside overlooking the vineyard. Great way to spend the afternoon.

Yelp
Day 1 of our Wine Tour: 3.5 Star Review Our first stop on our post 70.3 Ironman Wine Tour event was Hanna Winery. There was one other couple in the bar doing a wine tasting when we arrived but our large group quickly took over the joint. It didn't seem like the older lady really appreciated the huge rush, or at least it seemed as she never warmed up to our group. If your credit card was a Visa Signature card, your tasting was free. I had no idea mine was so it was a pleasant surprise when I got mine for free. Of the many glasses of wine I tasted, I enjoyed the 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon ($56) and the 2011 Chardonnay ($28). I also got 10% off my purchase if I used the visa signature card which was a nice little bonus. I think beside myself and one other person, no one in our group purchased any wine from here. I think the lack of enthusiasm from our server might've been the cause. I still enjoyed the tasting though but don't think I'd go out of my way to come back to this winery.

Yelp
My buddy and I wanted one last wine tasting on the last day of our buddy trip. So far, our experience with tastings were that they were heavily overpriced ($35+ for a tasting and no discounts even if you bought wine) and the places were rather corporate or snooty. Not to mention the wine was just meh. With our bag of artisanal bread and cheese, we were also "banned" from going to certain places that prohibit you from bringing your own picnic lunch. What a breath of fresh air (literally) Hanna was! No attitude and genuinely warm/friendly/happy to see us. Mary, their resident expert working that day, was wonderful. My friend and I happen to be Sauvignon Blanc fanatics, and as it turns out, that's Hanna's specialty. Wow! Their S Blanc was magical! Better than even the more expensive or Marlboro NZ S Blancs I've had in my time. We had a peaceful, lovely picnic lunch overlooking their vineyards, sipping their awesome wine...we took some bottles home as well. They waived the tasting fee and gave us 10% off. Mary also slipped in a little taste of some of their Pinot noir for no extra charge. I would have bought more wine if I could fit any more in my suitcase. I'll be buying from their website that's for sure!

Yelp
It makes me sad I have to write a negative review for this place. We were out on the Highway 116 Wine Appreciation Party day. This is our first year at the event, as we just joined one of the wine clubs on the list a couple of months ago.We were very excited about this event. The way our host club explained to us, it would be a day of really being treated like a club member and as a valued customer. And for most of the wineries on this route, we were...Except for this one. We were treated rudely and as anything except as a valued member. The event was scheduled to end at 4:00 PM. We arrived at 3:30 PM, which I know was rather late toward the end of the event. However, that DOES NOT excuse the rude behavior of the lady working there. We were largely ignored for the first 20 minutes we were there. As in, not even greeted at all. Then, when we were finally greeted, it was with disdain and disgust (I guess because we had the Highway 116 event glasses). We were given one pour of red wine, and not even told what it was (and the pour was not an ounce even). So, we helped ourselves to a little of the Pork appetizer they had for the event. We then came back to the bar and were trying to get the rude employee's attention for another pour, or to even know what she poured us. She then told us the event for us was OVER. It was 3:55pm and we were largely ignored for the time we were there. All of a sudden, the girl's boyfriend and his two friends walk in. They were right beside us at the end of the serving bar and we started talking with them. We told them what happened and they summoned the girl (who was the guy's girlfriend) and asked her to give us a pour. He agreed and told her that it wasn't right the way we were treated. She said, "No! This event is over for them" and would not even give us eye contact. Her own boyfriend was shocked and in disbelief and apologized for her. I am not sure if he is a member or just bringing his friend for free pours from this girl, but either way, we were treated rudely and not nice or like "members" at all. Long story short, if you don't want to participate in this event as a winery and are sick of the folks coming in for it, then DON'T PARTICIPATE at all. Take your name off the list. But if you do decide to participate, and are supposed to give everyone at the event the "member's experience", then by all means, please do so. Don't treat them like they are bothering you and shouldn't even be there. It is rude and a bad representation of your winery and your brand. I am shocked and appalled enough to write this negative review so the owners and managers can read what happened. And, by the way, I have 12 wine clubs total and spend THOUSANDS of dollars on winery wine every year. And, in fact, yesterday we purchased wine at every other stop we made on HIGHWAY 116, except this one. So, not only did you cost yourself possible sales, you also tarnished your reputation by being rude to us on our first visit to this winery. Sadly, I wouldn't return here if you paid me, and I would never encourage a soul to go to this place so full of rude employees. This girl should be fired and the remaining staff retrained on how to treat guests..... This place is a very bad representation of the wineries along Highway 116 and should be ashamed of themselves.

Yelp
I said to myself: I don't need to buy any more white wine. But then I had the best chardonnay ever. Buttery. Caramel. Creme brulee. It's the chardonnay that just kept on giving, even after you've swallowed your sip. Their pinot was also easy to drink. And the drinks! They kept on flowing. One price gives you everything on the list and even some things off of it (we probably tasted around 10 wines). Tasting fee is waived when you buy a bottle. The women were friendly, the grounds, lovely. A great find in Santa Rosa!

Zachary H.

Yelp
Great wine bad customer service Club Mgr. treats you like a number not a person which resulted in cancellation of my Club Membership and Shelby the Club Mgr. Is not a good fit

Yelp
Another recommendation by our innkeeper. I LOVED this sauvignon blanc! I was thrilled to find out that it is distributed. Gorgeous lychee, guava, green apple and pear notes. We also tasted the chardonnay, pinot noir, merlot, two ranch red and late harvest sauvignon blanc. My friend loves sweet wines and really enjoyed the late harvest. The surprise for me was the cabnet sauvignon. I wasn't expecting such a lovely cab on this side of the valley. Nice cassis, molasses and plum with a little blackberry jamminess thrown in. Another happy discovery was the Bellwether Farms carmody cheese they had for sale. We had to make an effort to save some for later! Creamy perfection! Another patron came in and reached for it, thinking it was out for anyone to sample. She just about got slapped! Total knee-jerk reaction to protect my cheese. We all laughed and then I did the nice thing and put some on a cracker for her. One. I felt bad, not crazy. We had two pourers. One had just moved back from Huntington Beach (sorry, I don't remember your name!) and was an absolute delight. Really friendly and knowledgeable about wine and the area. Maybe not my favorite wines overall of the trip, but I was really happy to find a nice, reasonably priced sauvignon blanc that gets distributed to my home state and just as happy to get introduced to that Bellwether cheese! Enough so that I am rounding my 3.5 stars up.

Yelp
Sherine and Rhiannon treated us to a tasty cheese plate perfectly paired to a row of amazing wines. Rhiannon was engaging, knowledgeable and very sweet. Made the Russian River Valley experience very special. Ended up with a great mixed case of wonderful wine.

Denise S.

Yelp
Wow. Stopped by today and tasting room person super snotty and rude. Too bad we had just bought a case from super friendly Balletto. Never returning there and telling our other wino friends. You aren't the only game in town...

Mike K.

Yelp
Really enjoyed this very low key wine tasting experience. I've been to some wineries where the staff is either very hassled or very much gives the sense that you aren't worth their time. Not Hanna. Elizabeth and her co-worker who's name I didn't get were very warm and welcoming. Elizabeth explained that she could do a full tasting, but if I preferred she was willing to pour a few small samples of wine and they I could buy a glass of what I liked. Very comfortable space to sit and ship, and she brought out crackers. Very chill and fun experience. Elizabeth is also very knowledgeable about Hanna wines - but in a very unpretentious way. She just exudes an "Isn't this SO COOL???" vibe. She told me that the wine I bought, Alchimie, is a blend and the winemaker wanted to call it Alchemy - but that was already a registered trademark. So he came up with the French term for alchemy, alchimie, and was able to register that. It's fun stories like this that make the wine tasting experience fun and engaging.

Yelp
The Hanna Tasting room on Alexander Valley Hwy 128 is up on a hill with a beautiful view. Sherine, our wine guide, was so nice and great at explaining what we were enjoying. We spent more time there then planned, just sitting at a corner table and taking in the lovely day over the vineyards!
google avatar

Delya S.

Yelp
We were terribly impressed with our host today, Nicole. She is studying oenology and it really showed in her introduction to the Hannah wines and the broader wine area. We purchased a Sauvignon Blanc and a Rosé. I recommend stopping here, it's quite close to the 12 and the 101. It's not pretentious. My husband *loved* the Two Ranch Red. We're definitely coming back for that one. The tasting fee is ten dollars, but they comp it with a purchase.
google avatar

Jennifer D.

Yelp
Possibly the most surreal wine tasting experience I've ever had. Didn't love any of their wines really - the sauv blanc was good, but nothing I couldn't live without, plus everyone around here makes good sauv blanc. The woman hosting our tasting was odd. She seemed kind of mean and gruff at first, then got friendly and kind of strange, then wandered off abandoning us completely and turning away from another group midsentence to do something else. I don't think I'll be back, and I don't think I'm missing much by not picking up their wine.
google avatar

Beverly D.

Yelp
If you're listed as participating in barrel tasting, you shouldn't turn folks away. Interested in trying this winery for the 1st time, but they closed early and rudely informed us they were not participating. We're industry and ready to buy, but will be skipping you next time on purpose.
google avatar

Leeseuh K.

Yelp
A group of us stopped here 3 weekends ago as part of the barrel tasting event and we were welcomed by friendly staffs and buttered popcorn!! WOOHOO!! Although, it did not host a FAT PARTY like some of the other wineries and only offered one barrel to taste, it was compensated by one of the higher quality wineries we've tried in the Sonoma area. In fact, this was the only winery we purchased wines from, both red and white. If you enjoyed chardonnay or cabs, definitely check out their selection. Cabs had a fruity aroma, easy to drink, compliments well with any piece of red meat!! As far as the chardonnay goes, it was light body, crisp and sweet just the way my palette likes it!! =) This is also where we ended up having our picnic, right outside the winery. There's plenty of picnic tables to relax so grab your bottle of wine and enjoy your prosicutto, salumi and cheese or whatever you want to bring!

Yelp
A solid winery. We liked their Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir. And their reserve Bordeaux blend Noir was, although expensive ($50), amazing. It is full-bodied, complex with so many characters without any of them being overpowering. Impressive. They have a coupon for free tasting on their website.

Yelp
I have been a member of Hanna Winery for over a year now. The wines here are fantastic. The Santa Rosa location is a little smaller than the Healdsburg one, but it is just as warm and charming. The tasting room sits in front of vineyards - the only downside is no view of them while you are sipping your wine - but there is a picnic table behind the building where you can enjoy the view. Great wines - both reds and whites - which will please all parties. I am in love with the Elias Chardonnay, Reserve Alchimie, and the Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve. All wines are excellent here - you really, really should stop by. You will be glad that you did.

Yelp
I took my brother and dad here because my dad is a fan of Hanna based on all of their retail purchases over the years. The experience was a pleasant surprise in all honesty. I saw the Visa Signature promo for this place when we got here which gave us an opportunity to get a free standard tasting or a cheaper reserve tasting for $10. In the end, the tasting was free as they ended up buying a bottle of cab from them. The guy serving and pouring was friendly and chatty to not only us but to any group large or small. Right as we were leaving, a large group of women strolled in from their wine bus tour. Hanna has some decent cred to be on a tour itinerary! They have no food here so bag and bring if you want. The outside seating area is small but has a nice view of the vineyards and the valley around the tasting room.

Yelp
Located off of highway 12 near Santa Rosa, Hanna Winery is a little off the beaten path, but well-worth a visit. On the day I stopped by, they were pouring a stellar sauvignon blanc, several worthwhile pinots, and two syrahs (one big and smokey, the other perfectly-balanced) that made me want to purr. The tasting room was run by a woman named Mary who was very friendly and helpful. She poured generously, and had great tips for local hiking and eating (check out my review for the Fiesta Market if you feel the need to nosh). Well-removed from the bustle of tour bus-filled wineries, Hanna is a great first stop, both for its solid wines and recommendations that will push your day in the right direction. Also, there is a coupon for free tastings on their web site, as well as discounts for holders of Visa Signature cards.

Yelp
A dog friendly winery. They just hung out with us in the tasting room. Our server was very knowledgeable about the wine and the family. She had a lot of interesting information to share. I love the fact that the Hanna family is keeping the winery in the family. The reds were forgettable, however their chardonnay and sauvignon blanc were fantastic. They are award winning, and about 6 bottles came home with us tonight.

Yelp
Hanna is a great small winery. Have lunch on their patio after you buy a botte! Great pinot noir! Look on their website for a tasting coupon.

Yelp
I discovered Hanna Wines when the Press Club opened in San Francisco, and the white wines have always been a go to if I'm picking up wine at Safeway. Reasonably priced and great taste. A trip to the vineyard has been on my Healdsburg bucket list for quite some time, and i decided to make it this past weekend when we were stopping in Santa Rosa for something else. It's a bit off the trail so it's a destination, but Patrick's appreciation for wine and is nice demeanor makes it worthwhile and my favorite of the ones we visited Saturday. I really like the wines, particularly the whites and I think that they are well priced. Will definitely return for a low key wine tasting experience. And I might join the club!

Yelp
Good wine - nothing special - great staff - fun things to buy in the tasting room. Not sure I need to go back.

Yelp
Stopped in here on a long drive after coming back from our run on Highway 1. The wine was good and showed quite a bit of the russian river character. We especially liked the Chardonnay - very buttery but not overly oakey. I also liked their Two Ranch - primarily zin based blend. They had a decent pinot and some nice reserve wines, but those were a bit over priced for what they were. The "Classic" tasting is $5 per person. I recommend this one unless you are interested in buying something, in which case they generally let you taste whatever you want as long as you buy a bottle. The tasting room itself was nicely decorated and had a lot of the usual wine country trinkets. It wasn't quite big enough when we first got there and we found ourselves frequently shuffling about to accommodate a new group. I guess it's a good sign that they're popular.

Yelp
We stopped by here because we were staying in Santa Rosa and had our dogs with us. There is a large painting of a dog in the middle of the room, welcoming us in. However their friendliness to dogs does not have any impact on this review. :) The older lady working the tasting room was extremely friendly, knowledgable, and the right about of snobby. She of course mentioned one of the wines is currently being served in the Ritz Carlton, while another won an award. My wife and I shared a reserve tasting. We ended up having most wines of both menus when were finished however. A lot of their reds come from a patch of land southeast from Napa that is high altitude. The soil conditions there are essentially volcanic rock. I personally did not care for any of these wines (all of which has a red label). However, their whites are delightful. In particular I reccommend the Savignon Blanc and Estate Chardonay. Yum!
