It’s hard to find a low cost but decent stay in Hanoi. After a long search, we chose Hanoi Elite because it had a window (!), but that’s where the positives end.
The hotel feels like it was well designed 20 years ago but hasn’t been maintained since. A strong mold smell hits you at the entrance—and it’s even worse in the room. The furniture is falling apart, though still usable.
At the moment, there’s construction right behind the building starting at 7 a.m., and it’s located in the middle of the bar area—loud at night, with drunk crowds and constant calls to buy beer on your way in.
