We visited the Hanoi Opera House at night, and although it was closed, it was still absolutely worth the stop. The beautifully lit French colonial façade is elegant and impressive, standing out strongly against the surrounding streets. Even from the outside, you can feel its historical importance and cultural prestige. A great place for evening photos and a short stroll, and definitely a landmark you should not skip when exploring central Hanoi.

Very pretty. It manage to keep the classic, luxurious vibe throughout the years. However, the actual seating isn't cleaned very probably, the cushions are old. The actual stage needs some maintenance. The Royal box is no longer in use and is being utilized for speakers system

A famous place in center of Hanoi. The Hanoi Opera House is designed on the French colonial architecture. You will enjoy it by grabbing the opportunity to visit and to watch an event. Also outside the building is used by locals an tourists as a decor for photos and also as a meeting point!

A beautiful but static monument. A stunning architectural landmark that is great for admiring grand French colonial design from the outside. The design was inspired by Palais Garnier in Paris. Its origin as a symbol of colonial power contrasts with its later role in Vietnam's independence. In 1946, the first National Assembly of independent Vietnam convened here to adopt the first constitution. Note: During my visit, the building was inactive with no performances despite its good condition, and the 480,000 VND entrance fee for a tour felt steep for the value offered. This was disappointing. Best for external photography or for attending a show if scheduled.

The staff's attentiveness surpassed what I initially thought. They guided us to our seats with a smile. The building's elegant architecture caught my eye right away. The sound was gentle, making the experience more enjoyable. I loved the quiet walk around the area after the show. The atmosphere was calm and relaxing, perfect for unwinding. The lighting highlighted the beautiful details inside. Overall, it was a pleasant visit.

ried to visit The Operation in Hanoi after hearing some great things about it—but turns out, the only “operation” we got was a pit stop on the motorbike, staring at a closed gate! I think the place was taking its own day off for repairs, or maybe just secretly plotting the next menu surprise.Honestly, it became quite the adventure: riding through the city, parking up for our big arrival, only to be greeted by the quietest staff imaginable (aka nobody). If you want mystery, suspense, and a plot twist on your lunch break, The Operation is definitely the place… as long as you call ahead, unless you want to contemplate the meaning of “closed” with a helmet in hand. We’ll be back—it’s a mission now. Next time, fingers crossed we actually get past the front door!

While the Hanoi Opera House is an exquisite architectural landmark and a place of high significance in the history of the country, the tour does not do justice to it. Firstly, there are guided tours every two hours, so plan accordingly. The tickets are very expensive compared to other landmarks in Hanoi. Most importantly, the guided tour is given in Vietnamese, without the option of an audio guide. This is quite unfortunate considering the steep ticket price.

My wife and I took part in the Opera House Tour. The building is great but the tour itself was given entirely in Vietnamese. There was a staff who attempted to give some guidance in English, but it was very weak and frustrating. She did not even try to translate the Vietnamese content. Do not expect a fully guided tour in English. It is one of the most expensive tickets we bought in Hanoi, and we expected better. About half of the participants were foreign visitors.
