"Also known as the 36 Streets (though it's made up of more than 36 streets), this neighborhood is a warren of alleys and lanes that was, according to some legends, home to 36 artisans’ guilds; streets here were named after the artisan items that were once sold on them (Hang Bo was the location for bamboo products; Hang Ma was where paper objects were sold). Each road today still specializes in a particular category, with some still related to the traditional item. Streets especially popular with tourists shopping for souvenirs, as well as those in search of photo opportunities, are Hang Bac (silver goods, now also filled with gift shops), Hang Ma (religious paper wares, then and now), and Hang Dau (oil products, though currently a center for shoe vendors). Among these timeworn businesses, visitors will also encounter outlet stores selling Gap, Banana Republic, and North Face clothing—some authentic and some fake. The quarter is also packed with hotels, hostels, restaurants, and bars, making it a busy destination at all hours."

We have had so much support on this trip, starting from a drive from Halong Bay to Royal Palace Hotel and back again. The communication was fantastic. We were warmly greeted by Sullie with tea and cookies. We were informed of all the tour places that were close. When we got into our rooms they were beautiful, clean and cool. All the amenities you could ask for,|The morning breakfast was very plentiful with good options.|Jennie has been such a help to us with many changes to our times. She is a Rock Star!!! The Manager Jimmie completed this wonderfully experience with his knowledge and expedient service.|I would highly recommend this lively hotel with great location and comfort!!!|Our group of 4 give it at 10/10 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌

Disclaimer, our travel agent made a mistake and made the booking based on what she saw & reviews on expedia, and we have paid in advance. Pictires shown on the web site are very deceptive, it is NOT a brand new hotel, rather a refurbished one, will do my review/warning, using bullet point ,to be concised : 1) The 4 stars are self proclaimed, not government issued, first red flag 2)Lobby is very simple, no ar conditioning or at oeast ,it was not working, try it on Hanoi´s summer....3) to reach the lift, you have to climb 2 flights of stairs 4) Lifts must have been added later as the stops do not match the hotel floor, example: you stop at the 4 floor on the lift, you have to go down the stairs to reach the 4th floor of the hotel(sound nuts? because it is 4) rooms are renovated, mattress fit for "faquir",hard as stone 5) If you fancy a glass walled bathroom, and have no problem with lack of privacy , this is your place 6) wonder where are the rooms shown in the pictures, ours had no view and NO ressamblance with the advertising photos 7) there was no room for us and our luggage at the same time (2 luggages and 2 carry on) 8) On climbing the forst 2 flights of stairs, we passed by a little door where the restaurant was, we did not dare to look inside, can´t give an opinion. |Summary, our private tour guide, an excellent one by the way, found us a REAL (in her own words) 4 stars at a walking distance and off we went and had a very pleasant stay there. (this hotel charged ~US45/day the real 4 stars charged US95/day, both with breakfast, got the point?) Expedia after our travel agent complaint agreed with a 20% refund (!).In all this it must be clear, the hotel web site is misleading in a BIG time, if you do not want to believe , just think about the proce difference, but if you are in a budget, it may fit your needs, the rooms were clean and refurbished in some sort of strange way

Absolutely horrific place, nothing like in their pictures. |I booked through Expedia and looking at the reviews and images I thought this is going to be a decent hotel. I attached real picture from the room I was given. Damaged walls, broken floors, black mold. |The "hotel" staff was helpless. The "boss" refused to refund the us for this garbage of a room that we didn't use. After messaging with them for 3-4 days he proposed that he refunds 50% if i don't leave a negative review. Shame on you!|There are many other nice places in the city, do yourself a favor and avoid this one.

We loved our stay. The hotel was central to everything in Old Town. Our room had a balcony which we enjoyed, great to watch the hustle & bustle. Good shopping & food options close by. The staff were lovely & the room clean & comfortable.

The hotel has a great location and a friendly staff, but that is where it ends. Let's talk about the elevator or lack of an elevator. It does not start until the second floor, The second floor has three different levels. The breakfast buffet is on the second floor, the second of three levels. The hotel is in no way handicapped access. Then the elevator does not stop on every floor. For example, they showed us a room on the third floor, but to get to it, you had to walk to the second floor lift, go up and then walk down a flight of stairs.||Do not believe the pictures, they will say city view, and show looking at a garden setting, but in fact you have another brick building two to three feet away. ||Also do not believe the reviews, many of them I believe are done by the hotel. Someone explain to me how I found a review from me on this site when I never wrote it. It would have been impossible for me to write it because it quoted staff members names when I did not know the names. ||Two answers here, that I can think of, and both are very bad. A) Someone is stealing log in information through the few Wi-Fi, B) someone entered the room when we were out and opened my laptop. So I would not leave any computer unlocked and make sure you do not do any banking or personal transactions on your computer using the hotel Wi-Fi Network. I switch to using my phone to access the web, outside the hotel's system. ||Now let's talk about the breakfast. Which features three main cooked to order items Omelettes, and Chicken or Beef Pho Noddle Soup. Tell me how within 1 minute of opening they can say they have no beef for the soup? They're only open for Breakfast, so they knew the morning before they had no beef. How can a hotel, which claims to be luxury and 5 star, not have the national dish of Vietnam?

Nice, clean hotel. Location close to all attractions. We had a room facing out. Somewhat noisy at night. Breakfast was excellent! Service wonderful! The front desk is very helpful!

DO NOT STAY HERE: BUGS & NOT LIKE THE PHOTOS. I checked out from my reservation a day early because my room was INFESTED with these bugs. I think that they are carpet beetles which live and feed on fibers in clothing, bedding, upholstery, etc. I showed the hotel pictures of the bugs crawling on the bedding and chairs. They refused to reimburse me for any part of my stay nor did they offer to pay for or clean any of my ENTIRE luggage that I now have to launder to ensure I don’t spread these bugs. Their solution was to offer a taxi to my next hotel which is ridiculous considering that taxi is like $1-2 USD, so they offered me one dollar as reimbursement. Moreover the rooms are MUSTY and nothing like the photos. I wish I had taken photos but I ran out of there. There is exposed wires running across the ceiling, the sheet was stained (with what I think is these bugs) and too small for the bed. The sandals/ shower shoes were clearly reusable and not well cleaned, they had residue from past uses on them.
