4.5 stars. ||One of my kids and I returned to this hotel after several years since our last visit. |The hotel is well-maintained and our room was clean. The beds were very comfortable.|The team working here from the valet to the front desk and restaurant were highly professional and helpful. |The location can't be beat whether for a visit to Dartmouth or an unrelated stay. It's easily walkable to restaurants, shops and cafes, as well a really nice local furniture shop and a game shop on Lebanon Street (near Talbots). |WiFi worked well and we would be happily stay here again. ||Again, apologies for not taking pictures. The hotel is as pictured on the website. Very clean and well-maintained public spaces.

Lovely hotel right across from Dartmouth campus. Expensive during busy weekends, but very convenient and with excellent service. We were upgraded to an enormous suite which was a lovely surprise and very comfortable and well-appointed. Pine restaurant was delicious and great service, though they were out of several dishes on the menu.

Excellent location across the street from Dartmouth College and in the heart of downtown Hanover - walking distance to the restaurants and shops. Modern, attractive and updated rooms with a desk, sitting chair, Lavazza coffee machine in the room.||Pros:|- For returning Dartmouth alumni, you can choose to write an index card to hang on the board across from the elevator to connect with fellow classmates in town|- Room was clean, spacious and very comfortable|- Parking garage about 2 blocks away for valet parking available|- Pine restaurant at the hotel had really good, big salads||Cons:|- Some 2nd floor rooms don't have a good view: roof and air conditioning unit with wooden wall but it was convenient and faster to be able to use the stairs to the 2nd floor so that more than made up for it. |- Had a brief technical glitch where we were able to get into our room, but then both of our keys stopped working after we left. The front desk quickly made us new keys - no problems after that.||Notes:|- Second floor room can have a bad view - roof with air conditioning unit and wood wall view|- You can pay to eat at the Dartmouth dining hall - The Class of 1953 Commons. It is open breakfast, lunch, dinner, and late night. It is all you can eat with various food stations.

I enjoyed the historic inn for many reasons. It is the heartbeat of the Hanover NH community and Dartmouth College campus. It is well kept in/outside. Tastefully decorated without glitz and glamor. Furnishings blended appropriate for the past and present. Friendly staff in all areas.

Great spot next to the Hanover campus. Rooms well maintained and super clean. Mandatory valet parking is not staffed correctly and kind of a nightmare. Front desk team - esp Chris - could use some customer service training.

Perfectly located next to the Hanover green. Attentive service and well-maintained property. Also always enjoy the bar at Pine and my kids love the breakfast.

We ran into a complication and when we called, we happened to get the manager, Victor, as the person who answered the phone. He was incredibly accommodating, assisting us with compassion, going above and beyond to help us with our issue. Gives us confidence and all the feels for using this hotel for all our future Dartmouth visits!

When I learned that the venue for a major family event hosted by my younger son and daughter-in-law was to be held at the Inn, I decided to book rooms there for that weekend for myself, my siblings, and my other son and his family. Even before our arrival, the hotel took care to confirm the various arrival plans and room configurations, and so check-in was seamless for each party. The common areas were extremely comfortable and inviting, and over the course of the weekend when we weren't busy with the main event, we and other friends and family members staying at the Inn enjoyed getting together there to share a drink from the hotel bar and catch up with each other. After the event wrapped up late Saturday afternoon, a number of family members expressed the desire to gather informally with some pizzas and sandwiches rather than dining out. The front desk very graciously agreed to our using the common area (lobby and vicinity) to continue socializing and snacking (fyi: I ought to note that we were extremely careful about cleaning up after ourselves and made sure to keep the volume down to that no other guests were inconvenienced). ||||When it was time to leave on that Sunday morning, I learned from the valet that one window in my rental car had inadvertently been left partly open, resulting in a very wet front passenger seat. He gathered several towels to try his best to mop up the water and then returned with more dry towels for the person using that seat to sit upon. Of his own accord, he asked the front desk to remove the parking fee from my bill because of this inconvenience. That was not necessary but was appreciated, and is yet another example of the staff of Hanover Inn doing all they could to ensure a very pleasant and memorable stay.

Yelp
I wanted to update my review. I did receive a call from the Director of Food and Beverage named Oral Kelly. He was truly empathetic about my experience and assured me that appropriate action will be taken to ensure that no other guests experience this in the future :) Definitely reach out to him if there are any concerns with service at the Pine restaurant

Yelp
Zero should be an option. 35 min AFTER sitting at table and only a martini and glass of wine arrived. Simple order of truffle fries, and "oh forgot to submit order"!!! We were only people on outside patio on a Tuesday at 3pm Inn has gone downhill over last couple of years, dropping it from our must go to places 20 minutes from home.

Yelp
We are a repeat customer and would like to thank Will for a job well done! He is professional, knowledgeable, thoughtful and most importantly helpful! Please join me in thanking Will for his help to me and many others! Signed, fat & bald!

Yelp
Nice hotel. Excellent restaurant. Weird room layout. Things we didn't like: - Valet parking only - Guests can use EV charger through valet but Tesla owners need a 14-50 Nema adapter (note to hotel: just buy one!) - Elevator and 5th floor hallway smelled like garbage the three days we stayed there Overall the hotel was great and the staff was very friendly and professional.

Yelp
I have no idea why this beautiful hotel us not a five star on here. I checked in late at night the night I arrived. Christian is an amazing front desk representation and first face of this organization. He was extremely friendly and helpful. Really understands how to go the extra mile to make people feel welcome. I interacted with him several times throughout my stay.... seriously such an asset!!!! The lobby is beautiful and vast with many spaces to sit and rest. The halls are beautifully kept and the entire location is very chic. The room I had was fantastic. The view wasn't much but who the heck cares? The bed was super comfortable. Cushy but supportive with plenty of pillows. The theme is sort of chic meets modern with a celebration of history!!! Come in people it's on Dartmouth....a 250 year old institution. They should give a nod to the historical aspect and is done very professionally. I love the in room Keurig... I love dark magic green hill coffee. Powdered creamer but the Pine will give you cream if you ask nicely. Yummy cookies are available at the front desk. Frank was fantastic and prompt with my request in the morning. Christian again helped me with checking out and insuring my bags were cared for while I walked around town some.

Yelp
Beautiful and cozy hotel, in a great location for exploring Hanover and Dartmouth. I had absolutely no complaints after staying here for nearly a week in January. The baked goods at the front desk was a nice treat everyday!

Yelp
The Inn is located near to all that you'll likely need when visiting Dartmouth. Staff is responsive and anticipate your needs by providing umbrellas for rainy days. Room service is fast. The rooms are as good as you might expect for a hotel in the midst of a renovation. Can't wait to visit again.

Yelp
Perfect ambience, really nice serving staff, and unfortunately dead average food :-( It's a beautiful, historic place!!

Yelp
What a very pleasant, classy and convenient place to spend a few nights. Located directly across the street from the Dartmouth University quad, it is a lovely, upscale hotel with comfy rooms and excellent service. We sprang an extra $20 per night for a front, street-facing room and are glad we did. Their regular rooms are smaller and most look out on the backs of surrounding buildings. We thought it worth it. The rooms were very comfortable, bed was firm and had down comforter. Bathroom had nice heavy towels and the amenities, like shampoo, were high end. It was quiet, even through we faced the street, so we slept well. So why not 4 or 5 stars? Breakfast was not very nice, so we kissed it off and ate at outside restaurants. Their bar and restaurant were very expensive to us and they are into "fusion" types of offerings, lots of seafood infused dishes and the menu seemed too arty for us. We only had drinks and a light snack there. The cleaning, restocking and tidying-up of the rooms was not done until late in the afternoons. That was true for all of the three nights of our stay. Did not strike us as acceptable for a high end hotel. Be prepared as one time we left for dinner and the room had yet to be made-up. So three stars are appropriate. And we will stay here on future trips.

Yelp
This hotel met all of our necessities. It's convenient to restaurants, attractions, banks, Dartmouth, etc. It mixes old school New England with modern style touches. The lobby is gorgeous. A glass foyer takes you into an eclectic seating area with comfy, welcoming seats, and even a fireplace. The bar and restaurant is off to the right. From what I see and hear, it's pretty popular. Front desk personnel are friendly and upbeat, great boost of energy after a long drive! When we arrive at our floor, I almost feel like I'm in an upscale dormitory. Maybe it's the carpet, perhaps it's the collegiate green accents, or the perfectly worn in chairs in the corridor just waiting to be sat in. I love the feeling. It feels like Dartmouth, even though I've never set foot on campus. The whole place just feels... Smart. The room is perfectly adequate. Window with a view of the campus green. Bathroom with large glass shower. Desk and sitting area. Comfortable bed and big flat screen TV. Slanted, attic-esque ceilings (5th floor). My complaints... The toilet was less than reliable. At no point should we have to stick our hand inside the bowl and do our own quasi plumbing in the middle of the night. Oh and the flies - so many dead flies by our window, which makes me believe housekeeping is not thorough. And hearing flies buzzing around and landing on me at night is not soothing (or sanitary, IMHO). And when I returned to the room at 5pm the following day I realize our room has yet to be serviced. After specifically spending a major portion of the day outside of the room. And when it was serviced, the housekeeper left an industrial sized cleaning spray on our nightstand. Pleasant welcome back. This hotel is really nice, but the negatives are sticking in my head more than the positives.

Yelp
Nice, cozy, and clean. Nothing special but it gets the job done. It's right in the heart of the campus and a great central place to wander from. Nice size rooms and the amenities you'd expect from a decent hotel. No free breakfast but free wifi.

Yelp
Ya, I guess location, location, location pretty much sums it up. Very convenient if you're in town for a Dartmouth-related event. The inn is cozy and New England-y, yet a little in the 70's when it comes to ambiance and decor. Both the 1870's and 1970's apply. Bed was a little mushy, but still comfortable, a very comfy desk chair, and a small and far-ly situated TV. All in all, fine, clean, good shower. I wasn't paying for the room, and don't know how much it costs, so I can't speak about the value...

Yelp
I live about an hour and a half north of Hanover. My wife, who was visiting family in New Zealand, was returning after long trip and arriving in Hanover at 9pm, from the Dartmouth Coach's Logan airport run. Not being a fan of driving at night I decided to book a room at the Hanover Inn. The location of the Inn is at the epicenter of the town directly across from Dartmouth Colleges' main quad, convenient to it all, and perfect for our needs. When I arrived, I was greeted by the valet and immediately felt welcome. Stepping into the Inn this feeling carried through with Sam who checked me in. We stayed in room 408 which is a well-appointed suite overlooking the campus. I was originally concerned with street noise but was pleasantly surprised at how quiet it was. I was most impressed with the high quality of the bed, so uncommon for even boutique hotels, which provided a most comfortable night sleep for its' weary travelers. From the start, the intention of staying at the inn was just a place to spend the night, but surprisingly provided much more. The Inn has an atmosphere that is warm, relaxing, and yes, conducive to unplanned romance! To sum it up, the Inn is a blend of history, elegance, a touch of enchantment, and superior service from start to finish. If traveling to southern New Hampshire or Vermont, do not miss the opportunity to stay here, and if you can suite 408. Special thanks to Frank and Brian!

Yelp
The Hanover Inn was a disappointment. Tired from a long drive, we ordered room service for our dinner. We were told the meal would take 30 minutes. Instead, it arrived 90 minutes later. The steak was tough and chewy. The avocado adorning the salad had black splotches that any home chef would have removed. This is an expensive hotel so we expected not just good service but a great meal. Unfortunately, we got neither. I suppose we should have seen the red flag upon checking into our room. The cute little decorative green and white blanket at the foot of our bed? Clearly soiled.

Yelp
Very pristine hotel located right on Dartmouth campus. Super convenient access. PRO You can walk straight ahead to campus activites/events or turn the corner and dine. Well maintained Spacious rooms Immaculate, updated bathrooms Stairwell is wide, well lit, and carpeted, making it nice to take the stairs! Free Wifi CON Parking is valet only, which can take up to 15 minutes. 5th floor rooms (stayed in room 504) have TINY windows and therefore too dark Pricey for the area so may be expensive over several nights. Loud ventilation fan runs all day/night even if you have the actual AC/Heat unit off

Yelp
I had a really nice stay at the Hanover Inn - everything about the hotel room was perfect and clean. The front desk staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. For example, I was chatting with the manager on my way out and mentioned I had a long drive back to Philly. He promptly handed me several bottles of water to take on the ride. I wish such thoughtful customer service was the norm everywhere!

Yelp
Gosh, I REALLY hate that I'm giving this place 2 stars when it could easily be 4. We went to the Hanover Inn for a wedding this past weekend. The wedding was at 4:30 PM on Saturday, and check-in started at 3pm. I called ahead several days in advance for an early check in for two rooms. They told me it should not be a problem. Upon arrival (not even all that early--2:30pm), one of our rooms was ready but mine was not. 3pm came and went, 3:30 came and went... and our room was NOT READY. If you sold a wedding block of rooms, and the wedding is that evening, you should put priority on those who are with the block. After calling to the front desk a third time at 3:30pm, they finally placed us in a room (single queen versus a single king). This gave us barely 40 minutes to prep for the wedding. Aside from our terrible check-in process, the hotel was clean and updated, the bed was comfortable, and the wedding food was delicious. If our room had been ready at check-in, I think that I would have given this hotel 4 stars. HOWEVER, seeing as this was an issue with the hotel, I'm surprised that they didn't provide us with a discounted rate (especially since the room was significantly smaller than our friends' single king room). Additionally, the main elevator was out of service Sunday morning for check-out. They posted signs for us to use the service elevator...which was... creepy and kind of gross. Look, no one wants to see the underbelly of a hotel. When you took the service elevator, you walked through a back hallway where there were bins of (obviously) dirty linens, toilet bowl cleaners, cleaning supplies, etc. Definitely did NOT want to see that on my way out in the morning.

Yelp
What was done to an historic building ? How do you say gut and filet? If you ever saw the traditional Hovey Grill, the cosy basement quintessential college space... it has been tastelessly erased. An example of modern designers with no respect for the past...maybe next year they will paint multicolored stripes on Dartmouth Hall? Conclusion : a real disgrace, for an institution that claims to respect tradition, Dartmouth owes all its constituencies a serious apology . Ouch !!'
google avatar

Cassie C.

Yelp
I feel bad writing a poor review for Hanover Inn, but this place really creeped me out. The elevator is really slow and someone said there is a ghost in there?! For aficionados of historic buildings, this place is for you, but the outdated wallpaper and old green carpet made me feel like I was on an episode of "Most Haunted". Also, it's pretty darn pricey for what is provided. My stars are given to the location in relation to Dartmouth...it's literally on the Dartmouth Lawn, in between campus and "downtown'.

Yelp
As I also did not have to pay for accommodations, I was thoroughly impressed that they upgraded my room so that I have a nicer view of the Green. WOW. Lush bath robes, the room was rustic-looking, cozy (as in comfortable, but not small). The bathrooms were immaculate. I love the line of products they use for the toiletries--smells amazing (Gillchrist & Soames) and seems really high quality (I enjoyed using up the lotion in one sitting). The lobby is beautiful and you can tell the people who stay here have $$$. They have a business center where you can use a computer and print out documents (free of charge!). There is a time limit if other people are waiting (of course).

Yelp
An Outstanding Stay Every Time The Hanover Inn at Dartmouth has always been THE PLACE to stay when visiting or returning to the College or Hanover. Located right on the campus Green, it provides incredible views of the College and major landmarks including Baker Tower. The Hanover Inn has recently been updated and the changes carefully maintain the small college feel of the Campus and old Inn but now raise the luxury level to a new height. It also feels modern and yet still rustic. The lobby area is beautiful. The staff are as friendly as ever. Valet parking ensures you can get you car whenever needed. The rooms are beautiful. Rich hunter's green accents and dark wood maintain the country feel while the comfortable mattress and bedding bring the latest in sleeping technology to you. All the rooms are hypoallergenic. The large flat screen TV allows for easy viewing while you get ready to hit the town. Overall, I would have thought it hard for the Hanover Inn to get better. And yet, the new renovations have really raised things up a notch.

Yelp
Very nice rooms, but nothing amazing. Phenomenal dinner @ the Pine !!! Terrific ambiance. The only disappointment was breakfast was in a small room w/a fireplace that didn't work, and no windows. We would have much preferred the Pine area w/big windows, a fireplace, and an ambiance you can't beat. I new favorite. We will keep coming back.

Yelp
Great hotel but has issues, and for it's price point, there shouldn't be any....one pet-peeve i'll point out: I just wanted to send along a friendly suggestion... I've been to your conferences in the past and the coffee you serve both at the conferences and in the lobby is horrid. Your tea selection is so nice, especially because you always have a separate hot water carafe in the lobby, as to avoid the dreaded 'coffee water' tea water, but the coffee is just horrible. Please please change it, whatever it is. Top shelf hotel should have top shelf coffee. Most Sincerely, Your Customer

Zia S.

Yelp
Expensive yet lacking. The rooms are decent, however customer service is terrible, and the in-hotel restaurant leaves much to be desired. I ordered room service at 8:00 and did not receive it until 9:45, despite being told several times that it was "nearly ready" (and given a 20-30 minute estimate to begin with). They balked at originally refunding, however as soon as I tasted the food I had to call back and complain. I ordered an expensive steak and instead of a nice cut I end up with a chewy mess. I ordered salad with no cheese (since I'm dairy free) but lo and behold they smother it with goat cheese. Even beyond the food, service was terrible. They say you can get amenities including a dental kit, however it took me 1 hour to get one, mostly because they made me leave a message the first time I requested it. Overall, I recommend you save your money and go someplace that actually values guests, perhaps a nice bed and breakfast or something that would at least have decent-tasting decent-costing food. The only thing I did enjoy was the cookies by the front desk in the afternoon and the bread that came with room service. Very good bread and butter though. A final update: they apologized for the awful device and said they would take it off our final bill, however still ended up charging us for half of the meal. This place has atrocious customer service and I wish I could give it 0 stars.

Yelp
Went here for lunch today. The service was pretty horrible--the waitress could not find our reservation for a while, and was rude when taking our orders. She also seemed to be hard of hearing? As for the food, definitely do not come here unless it's for a business meeting or for convenience! For the price, you could definitely do a lot better at one of the nearby restaurants. I ordered the potato leek soup--passable but very salty, and the chopped salad. The salad was more like an appetizer portion, and was overpowered by oily sundried tomatoes. My dining companion ordered the caesar salad. It barely had any dressing, and consisted of mainly sad looking leaves, with two small anchovies on top. All in all a very disappointing experience.

Yelp
Has the best bed I've slept in anywhere, in recent memory. I want to try to replicate it at home. The soap smells like lily of the valley, there are snappy green apples in bowls by the elevator on every floor, and tender cookies at the front desk. The staff is gracious and welcoming without being treacly. It's perfectly located right off the highway into town, no GPS needed, just your eyes. Added bonus: Because it's virtually on the Dartmouth campus, my 13-year-old has decided she wants to go there. So, it's inspirational too. I've definitely paid more for less.

Yelp
Did you know the Dartmouth color is green? Well, you will, when you visit quaint Hanover town and stay in quaint Hanover Inn. The place is GREEN. The place also: smells very new, like a furniture store (not necessarily a bad thing), has a pretty cool conservative avant gardey art vibe* in the lobby, has a very friendly reception, has free chocolate chip cookies chillin' in the afternoon, free tea/coffee, and so on. The room itself was vast and wide, with a bed about a mile long. Very comfy, very big. Lovely bathroom, also huge, with an enormous shower that you could run laps in. FREE INTERNET, praise be to God. As the other reviews mentioned, the location is fab: the front entrance faces Dartmouth's open green (well, brown, this time of year), and our room had views onto bustling Hanover main street. It seems like the only hotel choice in the area (not actually true), but it's definitely the nicest. * Like George W.'s new paintings.

Yelp
We ended up at the Hanover Inn because we wanted to ski over President's weekend and almost all of New England was sold out (yes we were a little late in making our plans). Not wanting to stay in a 70's wood condo, I went to the Preferred Hotels website and discovered this little gem. We love Hanover and its location, right on the green and around the corner from the Main Street. The decor is fantastic. A nice nod to the Dartmouth traditions while being fresh and modern. We had a room facing the Green. The rooms are spotless and comfortable, like the personal Keurig, my 10 year old just made a hot chocolate after a cold day of skiing. Staff is very friendly. LOVE the free WIFI - personal pet peeve is when hotels charge for it. There is a $20/day parking fee (unlimited in and out). In general, the parking in Hanover is a bit of a pain. Meters everywhere, better to just keep the car parked and walk. We haven't tried the Pine restaurant yet, but it looks delicious. Hoping we get to try it before we check out. We are hoping to come back and explore more of Hanover. BTW for skiers this was a good choice. Not to far North for us coming from CT. A couple of options: Sunapee is 40 minutes and Killington is about an hour.

Yelp
Experienced a bit of luxury and a great night's sleep at the Hanover Inn this weekend. First, the hotel was just steps away from the Dartmouth Coach bus stop in Hanover, making it super easy to find, and i didn't have to lug my bags very far. Check in took just a few seconds and the gentleman who checked me in was very friendly. The one elevator was a little tricky to find at the end of a winding hallway, but there aren't many floors in the building so it's sufficient. I walked in the room and was shocked by the size, I'm from Boston, so everything is just a bit smaller. I had a king sized bed, cost with robe and slippers, a long wooden bench that ran half the length of one wall, and a handicapped accessible bathroom. The bed was amazing, I could focus my woke review on how well i slept - I usually don't sleep past 7, but I stayed in bed until almost 9. The few issues I had during my stay, which weren't really that big a deal... my room key got demagnetized a few minutes before i needed to check out. My patience could barely handle the 5 minute wait for hotel assistance, but they did come pretty quickly. The lighting at the bathroom vanity was dim, so a little tricky getting a close up view of my face. Also, there was no refrigerator in the room. I didn't really need one as food was provided at the conference i attended, but i had some snacks from home that I want able to store. Also, check out takes too long. I would have been fine with just having the bill slipped under my door and only checking with the counter to hold my bag. Instead, each person checking out takes about 5 minutes, and around 12pm, the line doesn't move quickly with only 2 counters. I'd suggest checking out as early as possible to avoid the line, especially if you're in a rush. Overall, a great stay! I don't go to Dartmouth often, but I'd definitely stay here again if i did.

Yelp
The most darling hotel in Hanover. I was greeted friendly by the valet staff. Check-in was seamless and kind. The decor is divine. And our hotel room is perfection... very clean and spacious! It's also positioned perfectly downtown and across from Dartmouth. Any chance I get I will stay at Hanover Inn!

Amanda D.

Yelp
Good room. Great fitness center. Terrible experience with housekeeping. I'm here for a conference and had my receipts from my meals yesterday on the table, attached to a note paper with the date and within a Ziploc bag as my organization system. I should have put the sign out to waive off housekeeping this morning, but forgot. And the bag got thrown away! I've never had housekeeping rearrange/ touch what was on a table before (other items arranged in piles/stacked like my papers, my snacks, books, etc). Called to complain and given a voucher for breakfast, which is decent of them.

Yelp
WOW! Every detail has been looked at, measured and delivered! Frank at the front desk was as professional, helpful and courteous as anyone I have ever talked to while getting a room. The Valet Attendants were all very helpful and my car was packed better than I could! Not only was our breakfast great, but I would stop by there just to eat! Great bed, great view and great people! We will be back!!!

Yelp
Amazing brunch! I went with my family and everything was delicious! Great service and right next to Dartmouth! Highly recommended!!

Yelp
The front desk staff were rude, especially one gentleman who seemd to be a manager, he was very condescending and dismissive. The food in the restaurant has become mediocre. The Inn has lost its sense of grandness.

Michael H.

Yelp
This review is for the restaurant only and not the overall inn. The gracious Daniel Webster Room is no longer a restaurant and the only place to eat is a small buttery where Zin's used to be. The place is small, stark and noisy beyond belief. If there are more than three people in the room the din is overwhelming. The food is generally garbage. I had an inedible pizza; another time an inedible Caeser salad. I couldn't avoid going back and ordered a bowl of vichyssoise that was surprisingly good but I couldn't hear a word that anyone was saying because of the acoustic madness. The waitstaff was superb and apologetic. The inn is still undergoing renovation and sometime in the future there will be a real restaurant.

David M.

Yelp
i'm saying 5 stars for hanover, not for, you know, the world at large. but this IS an excellent place. Clean. Very accommodating staff, from valets to front desk to housekeeping. I've stayed the a bunch in the past couple of years. Once had to move my room after being put in a back facing room near loud heating/cooling blowers. The rooms are a tiny bit dark, I'd say. Dark lampshades don't help. They've chosen a wooden desk chair for all of the rooms that looks designy but could not be more uncomfortable. Fail. Have had zero complaints about cleanliness; beds comfortable, towels have some nap on them. There's another place in town called Six South which is more modern looking but which does not come close overall. Walking into that lobby has all the charm of a bus station. Not so at Hanover Inn -- so they get my vote. Although the Inn claims to be Green in the environmental way and not the dartmouth way, they have a gas fireplace in their restaurant which cranks out the emissions 24/7. Tsk tsk. Time to catch up with the concerns about our planet, what do you say Han Inn?

Yelp
Ugliest hotel rehab ever. Totally out of character for Dartmouth or any small NE town. Trying to be trendy and urban. Fails miserably.

Yelp
Had the BEST time at a friend's wedding here. Smallish wedding (55 people), the BEST food I've had at a wedding, great bartenders, and very friendly staff. Unfortunately teh hotel was out of my price range so I didn't stay there.

Yelp
The lobby was nice! It took about an hour for the staff to check me into my pre-paid room. The chocolates they leave on your last day are excellent.

Yelp
Very convenient and clean. Location, just across from main quad of Dartmouth University and around corner from restaurants, etc. is greatest strength. Lobby is crisp and contemprary, but room was a little dated and worn. AC was loud and just barely cooled our top floor room. Work out facility was functional and had interesting college photos. Would stay again, based on location alone.

Yelp
I had to pay for an extra night even though I changed my reservation on line nearly a month earlier down to a single night's stay. Reason was that I had called 2 months prior and verbally made a change with the front desk, and once that call was made, the Hanover Inn now tells me it could no longer see any changes made on THEIR on line booking system subsequent to that. Of course, there was no way for me to know that their on-line booking became null and void once I made a phone call. I agreed to pay this but they remained unapologetic. So I paid $500 for one night stay. During that time, the clock radio in the room went off at 5:30 in the morning because the hotel staff did not make sure the alarm was turned off, thus killing our one morning we could have slept in. The front desk did not allow the pizza delivery man to come to my room so I had to go down to the lobby to pick it up. The lady at the front desk at check out did not ask me how my stay was, she did not thank me for staying with them, and she could not even find my reservation on the computer! She had to write down my email to send me a receipt. Oh and the plumbing was backed up within 3 hours of our arrival. Overall pretentious and not even a quiet room, with windows overlooking intoxicated people wandering down main street at 11 p.m. No fridge or microwave in room, but luckily the window was freezing cold so we stuck our drinks next to window. Definitely not worth the money I paid and I will be telling my fellow Dartmouth alums to stay elsewhere. Too bad it reflects so poorly on Dartmouth.

Yelp
I was really disappointed recently by the Hanover Inn we had stayed there this past February as a group (youth hockey team) and the facilities and rooms were great, perfect for our team and the families, many have already returned. I reached out recently about booking the hotel again for next winter due to our nice experience last time and I was informed the rate would be 60% higher for our group, that is just not right and really disappointing, we have families on the team who span the economic spectrum and just can't swing the price, 60%! Why?

Yelp
We were taking a four day class at King Arthur Flour and the Inn was recommended by them. Students at the school are offered a discount rate. The Inn is located in the center green adjacent to Dartmouth College about 2 miles from the King Arthur school. Next to the Art Museum, and convenient to movies, restaurants, bars and shopping, it is well located. The Inn itself contains two areas for dining and a well equipped gym. The rooms have free Wi-Fi and cable. Parking is valet only (20$ a day) with unlimited in and out service. Small touches like newspapers in the morning, fruit and water in the afternoon and cookies and candies in the evening were greatly appreciated. What a terrific hotel! If you are visiting Dartmouth, this is the place to stay. The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome. They suggested running routes, gave us restaurant tips and were kind enough to freeze the bread that we made each day in class. Our beautiful room was on the 4th floor facing the side of the hotel overlooking a busy street but noise was never a problem. Even with the on-going construction on the main entrance drive, the hotel was exceptionally quiet. Our room had two queen beds and ample space to move around. The beds were well appointed and comfortable and the bathroom, though not large, never felt cramped. One quibble - while the shower pressure was great, the tap was a bit less so. Most of all, the entire staff made us feel welcome and ensured our every comfort. Service such as this this is rare in today's cookie cutter hotel system. Kudos! We shall return and so should you!

Yelp
The New rooms are wonderful! We were here for our sons graduation. It didn't disappoint. I would stay here when I come to town for work, but alas my budget is tiny.

Yelp
What a terrific hotel. The location is perfect. The room is beautiful and meticulously maintained. But most of all, the front desk staff is the perfect blend of professionalism and kindness. We were very tired after a long drive from michigan, and the entire staff - from the valet who greeted us to the gentlemen at the front desk - made us feel welcome. We are thrilled, and only sorry we are here for just one night. We will definitely come back here again, though, depending on my daughter's upcoming ACT and SAT scores! If you are visiting Dartmouth, this is clearly the place to stay.

Yelp
I visited Dartmouth last month and stayed at the historic Hanover Inn. Our room had a view of the Green and was decorated in New England style. The hotel is lovely and the service is top notch! From the bellman to the valet, everyone was friendly and willing to answer questions about the area. It's located walking distance to many restaurants. Definitely will stay again!

Yelp
Stayed while on college visit with wife and son. What a great hotel. Clean, nicely decorated and furnished rooms. Great location and very, very friendly and helpful staff. Loved The Pine for late night snack and cocktail. Would definetly go back to this hotel next time i am at Dartmouth.

Yelp
Awesome spot to hang near the Dartmouth College campus. Despite other comments on this site, the food is very good.
