I've been itching to go to the Hansa Hotel for dinner as I love a place with history and the hotel did not disappoint. The dining room looks like it can tell you many a great story of all the patrons and events it has seen over the decades - you feel transformed into an earlier era the moment you walk into the building. It was magical.
The staff were very friendly. One or two didn't seem to understand English or Afrikaans, so Carlos had to assist us, but that was great as he was just amazing at his job. He cooked us crepes for dessert which ended the evening on a high note.
I had the roulade, which was delicious. Would definitely choose it again if I get the opportunity to go back. The menu isn't extensive, but the German dishes all look amazing.
I'm sure the rooms must be beautiful, but I can't comment on those as we didn't stay in the hotel.
Parking was available right outside the door, but I suppose on busy evenings it could be tricky to get a spot.
All of the desserts contained alcohol, so offering an option without alcohol might be nice. Carlos was helpful in this regard though and made my crepes with chocolate sauce instead of the orange liquor sauce.
