Hanul Bran has that warm, rustic charm you hope for in a mountain inn. The views of Bran Castle and the surrounding hills are unforgettable, and the traditional Romanian dishes taste like they’ve been passed down for generations. Portions are hearty, the atmosphere is cozy, and it’s the kind of place where you can linger over a meal without feeling rushed. A great spot to recharge after exploring the area.

A Bran classic — with a castle view that never gets old. There’s a reason Hanul Bran has stayed popular over the years. It’s not just the location (though having Bran Castle right in front of you is definitely a plus) — it’s the overall vibe: welcoming, unpretentious, and deeply rooted in local tradition. I came here while filming in the area and ended up staying longer than planned — that’s how comfortable it felt. The food was rich and flavorful, especially the grilled meats and traditional sides. It’s the kind of place where you know the recipes have been passed down. The terrace is spacious, and from a visual perspective, it’s one of the best angles to capture the castle without being inside the tourist rush. The wooden decor, mountain air, and warm service complete the experience. If you’re visiting Bran and want to feel the atmosphere of the place, not just see it, Hanul Bran delivers. Great for families, travelers, or even remote workers looking for a scenic lunch stop.

Hanul Bran — classic hospitality with an unbeatable view. There’s something timeless about Hanul Bran. Perched in one of the best spots in the village, it gives you a front-row seat to Bran Castle — without the crowds or the noise. Whether you're staying overnight or just stopping for a meal, the atmosphere is authentically Romanian, with a modern touch. I visited after capturing aerial footage nearby and was drawn in by the rustic charm of the place. The terrace view is one of the best in the area — perfect for photos, a quiet coffee, or a sunset dinner. The menu offers generous portions of traditional food done right. I tried the ciorbă and sarmale — both were flavorful and comforting, just like homemade. The service was friendly and relaxed, and the staff made sure everything felt personal. As someone who works with hotels and locations across Romania, I can say Hanul Bran has that rare combination of authenticity, comfort, and visibility. A great spot to recommend, especially for first-time visitors to Bran.

We went there to serve lunch with a group of kids from the school being in visit in Bran. The food is awful: the soup was terrible (it tasted and it looked like the one from the supermarket that you made it by adding boiling water) and the fries and snitzel were full of oil. The location looks very nice from outside but the food is terrible. They deserve minus 5 stars...also the waiters aren't too friendly... I don't find anything nice to recommend this place...

Ideally located. Fantastic view of Bran castle from the room. Prices are really good (in March). Unfortunately the beds are really uncomfortable and gave me back issues. The service in the restaurant is really slow and it seemed local people was being served before us even when they arrived after us. Food was nice when it arrived.

The location is great, in the vicinity of the castle. Time passes differently in the area so the restaurant service might seem slow but the dishes are pretty fair.

Hotel is prime located in Bran, we had a room with a balcony with a castle view and it was perfect. The rooms however was mediocre at best, with an uncomfortable bed and we were given one pillow? When I asked for extra pillows we were given two quilts to use as pillows? The TV in the room was very small and only had local channels. The shower took 20 minutes to get warm and the bathroom was small. The food was ok but limited to a Romanian culture, with slow service unless you are a local! Breakfast was similar self service with nice food but not a lot for a British culture. We enjoyed are stay in Bran.
