We enjoyed a very special meal at Hanuman. We enjoyed the soft shell crab and money bags as entree, followed by the pork belly and butter chicken. The food was excellent and Nita provided us with excellent table service.

Google
Hanuman has a very good reputation as one of the best restaurants in Darwin. Before Tonight we had tried 2 of the best known South East Asian Restaurants in Darwin, one was Vietnamese Chinese Malay fusion restaurant and the other one was Srilankan Thai. So tonight we tried Hanuman as the Thai Indian Restaurant and this time we were not disappointed, in fact the food was very good, the chicken Briani was very tasty with a bit of spiciness The service was excellent, especially the waitress named Nita from Indonesia was exceptional, she was very friendly, always smiling and her recommendations were all very good. A pity that we have limited small asian stomach capacity, so that we just ordered 2 appetisers and chicken Briani as main course. All 3 dishes were very good and tasty. When in Darwin the Hanuman is very recommended not to be missed. Last but not least the price was reasonable.

I have been coming to Hanumans for years now, and while I no longer live in Darwin, it is a must visit when I'm in town, as it is easily one of the best restaurants in town! A mix of dishes from across the Asian continent, you can not go wrong with whatever dish you chose. Everything here is amazing, and the flavour will excite and delight your palate!

It is surely a 5 star. Fantastic food, excellent ambiance and awesome service. I loved the appetisers and the main course too.

Google
Fantastic Asian fusion restaurant in the city. Great food, friendly staff and quick service. Favourite dish was the Meen Moolie barramundi curry! Thank you to Phuong for her wonderful service.

Yelp
Fantastic place!! Outdoor seating was great- no freezing aircon and volume good to be able to speak even if place was crowded!! Food - wow!! We had moneybags, hanuman shrimp, fried rice, +++ Way too much food for the 4 of us but we cleared the table! Great selection of vegetarian and seafood!! Even kids loved it and went out of their comfort zone!

Yelp
Some of the best food and service that I have ever experienced. The butter chicken and the oysters are to die for. Will go back anytime.

Yelp
I wasn't sure what to expect because there were a bunch of mixed reviews on this restaurant. I was also skeptical with the 3 Asian genre in one restaurant: Indian, Malaysian Chinese, and Thai. However, I was very pleasantly surprised that the 2 starters were amazing. I loved the trumpet mushrooms, this was recommended by a friend and the nonya pork rolls. The main were great as well. The prawn curry was my fave as I can taste the belacan on the curry sauce. It's quite authentic to the Indo/Malay Chinese cuisine. I like the butter chicken but it was a too sweet for my liking. Some restraint with the sugar to make it more savoury would be my preference. That and the sweetness of the naan are why I gave 4 instead of 5 stars.

Yelp
Wonderful menu and service. One of the most upscale restaurants in Darwin.

Yelp
Food was bombtastic! Even though it was busy, food was good quality and service on point.

Yelp
We came to Hanuman after seeing the high ratings and hype. We had no reservations on a Sunday at 7 pm but were able to quickly get counter seating outside for two. (The place definitely filled up quickly). We found the trumpet mushroom tasty, though a bit sweet. The goat Rogan Josh was a bit too heavy cardamom and not quite as complex as we generall ylike. The barramundi tika were delicate but also overall not complex. Overall a reasonable meal although on the pricey end and food not up to par with our expectations.

Yelp
If all restaurants in Darwin were this good the city would be packed all year around. This Thai/Indian/Malay restaurant is great, noting I stuck to Thai food only. The huge dining area offers both indoor and outdoor dining options, with the outdoor kept cool by a plethora of fans. I tried the pork rolls for starters followed by the red curry duck with roti and rice...and I can't complain. Service was functionary without being memorable, but the flavour of the food more than made up for it.

Yelp
We went to Hanuman's last night. Everything was great especially the food with the trumpet mushrooms being the top pick. The Green Chicken Curry was one of the best ever tried and the Curry with Barramundi was good but a little bland. We loved the high roof which helped keep us cool despite it being hot and humid. The staff were friendly and attentive. We also enjoyed a bottle of Stella Bella Cabernet Merlot. As others have commented; the food is more expensive than that at other Asian style restaurants in Darwin however it is also arguably better.

Yelp
A solid Indian restaurant in the heart of Darwin. The decor is very cool and there's indoor and outdoor seating options. The menu is extensive and I enjoyed my korma dish.

Yelp
After a day of adventure in the Northern Territory we asked the locals which restaurant was worth going to that reflected the melting pot that is Darwin. The overwhelming response was this one. We couldn't get a Sat night booking until after 20:30hrs but it was worth the wait. The spices and flavours are outstanding and the mix of chinese, thai and indian cooking is amazing. Wish we could find something like this locally we would never be away from it.

Yelp
Go. Just go. Best meal I've had in Darwin. Sophisticated, full of taste and great portion sizes. Worth every cent.

Yelp
Darwin's best restaurant. Beautiful Asian menu with dishes full of flavour, nice decor and setting, polite staff. Feels fairly posh compared to other places in Darwin. Not too expensive but not cheap. Well worth a visit

Yelp
So glad that we have booked to dine here on a Saturday night, we had an early seating and was pleased to do so as we stuffed ourselves to the bream as we walked out after a very satisfying meal We were accommodated at the covered outdoor area which is ver pleasant space, I would prefer this dining space which had the casual feel, so be fitting to Darwin, than the low ceiling indoor dining room. We went all out, we shared 3 entrees n 3 mains among the 3 of us. Started off with trumpet mushroom which are stuffed with mince spicy pork, the chilli heat is just right. The nonya pork ball was next, I was disappointed as I was expecting pork pieces n these were made with mince n not enough fatty bits in them n they were too salty for my taste. Finally the samosa, they were nice n hot when they arrived at the table n tasty, the minted yoghurt went well with it. Pity about the salad, I blame that on Darwin weather The mains came soon after the entree dishes being cleared, we choose red duck curry, goat rogan josh and dry curry eggplant. The mains did not disappoint and they all had their own distinctive taste and method of cooking. The duck curry was Thai n the other were of Indian origin. The sauce in the duck were plentiful and having pineapple n lychee added the sweetness to the dish and chilli heat once again was well balanced The goat rogan josh was well cooked n still moist meat in a rich gravy of curry sauce The dry curry eggplant was just perfect, rich gravy and moist eggplant, doing great justice to this humble vegetable. We were too full to get tempted in having any dessert, what a pity, perhaps will just have to come back again The staff were generally very attentive n swift in clearing the tables and the matre d perform her duties well n make us feel welcomed n when I told her I'm from Adelaide, she suggested that I should visit their south terrace venue. Pity that the Adelaide venue will not be as nice as here in Darwin as the ambience of the dining space is very much of a dining experience.

Yelp
Came here without a reservation, we were a party of 5 and they accommodated us extremely well (we did show up early though so maybe don't do it later in the evening). We had the best meal, everything was delicious large selection for vegetarian and a great selection of drinks. We will definitely be returning to this place it is defiantly worth what you're paying for.

Yelp
The best Thai green curry (chicken) I have had in Australia. And the highest ceilings. And a really friendly bloke from Manchester serving me. Not cheap - but worth a visit if you fancy feeling fancy!

Yelp
I ate here with a group of people and everything was perfect in every way! This is a first class establishment. The weight staff was knowledgable, attentive, and friendly, and the food was fabulous! I like spicy food so I had a beef vindaloo. It was perfect! The beef was tender and flavorful, and the heat level was perfect for a pepper head like myself. Another person in my party had a seafood stir fry and a third had a whole fish. We tasted each other's dishes, and everything was fabulous. I would definitely eat here again!

Yelp
WOW! is all I can say. Went here on the recommendation of some friends and I was not disappointed. Service was amazing fast besides the initial wait for a server to take our order. I had the Thai style whole fish with Coconut Jasmine rice and Garlic Naan bread and everything tasted great! I left with a full stomach and a smile on my face. Looking forward to going back!!

Yelp
Great Dining Experience every time. Good ambiance and delicious. Prices are high but worth it for the food and service.

Yelp
We had a table booked a week in advance through phone. Had no record of our booking upon arrival. Luckily there was a table available. Waiters clearly ignore you. This one girl in particular you could tell really hated her job there. The food is great here though. I love their red duck curry, along with everyone else I know that has been here. I do recommend trying their oysters and pandan chicken.

Yelp
Hanuman has absolutely exceptional food. We went for lunch and advice is to not get concerned should you arrive and there are very few customers. Aside from a business lunch, we were the only ones there. We learned that dinner is the busy time and is often packed. Service was very good but should be when your the only ones there. It is an Indian & Thai restaurant, mmmmm delicious. We had the following dishes. Nonya Fried Rice for children. Chicken Tikka and Butter chicken with Garlic Naan and Thai Noodles which are equivalent to Pad Thai for the adults. For children, the fried rice was a hit.... For the adults, the butter chicken was the favourite. Good spice on the adult dishes which were five star dishes. Gold plate restaurant great review

Yelp
High end restaurant with interesting indian dishes. Would rate it at 4plus stars. Excellent service. Must visit if you are in Darwin.

Yelp
Whilst holidaying in Darwin we took the advice of friends and dined at Hanuman. We only had enough time to enjoy a selection of entrees, but it was well worth the quick visit. We initially booked over the phone and chose to eat "inside", but on arriving we quickly opted to dine out on their terrace/deck. Friends insisted we order their two signature dishes - trumpet mushrooms & Hanuman oysters - both were outstanding and nothing we've tried before. The flavours we an absolute delight. We also ordered the vegetable samosas, which had the perfect amount of spicy kick to them, as well as the onion & cheese kulcha with the addition of garlic, and, OMG, we couldn't stop at one kulcha and quickly placed another order it was that good. Two glasses of wine matched the meal perfectly and we were in and out within the hour. The staff were very attentive and had time been on our side, we would definitely have enjoyed sampling their main dishes, especially the barramundi curry. We would rank this establishment as one of the best restaurants in Darwin and not to be missed.

Yelp
Lovely dishes coming out of this restaurant. Staffs are very efficient and friendly. My favorite is tomyum soup. The goat curry dish is so amazing. If dining alone be advised to ask for smaller size main curry dish, could only finish 60 % on my own. The place is always packed out.

Yelp
Definitely Darwin's most original and best. The oysters are a world treasure and a joy even to people who don't usually eat them. A must!

Yelp
Hanumans used to be my go to restaurant for a nice curry dinner in Darwin. The venue is great and the atmosphere is nice for an evening out until they decided to raise their prices. Granted it was pretty much the best value for money because their food is soooo delicious so may have been a fair call to raise their prices but I remember when you could get the butter chicken for $18 and its now $29! All in all it is good food but I think you could get equally as nice curry at say Nirvana or Garam Masala in town.

Yelp
So just found the best Indian/Asian restaurant in Darwin. Read some reviews and it said try the house oysters and trumpet mushrooms, oh dear me, unbelievable flavours. Followed up with a goat rogan josh and chicken biryani. If your passing through Darwin make sure you book in or get there early - by 6pm, it started to fill quickly not long after that (dry season, I assume it would be a bit steamy still in the wet)

Yelp
Absolutely amazing food!! Best restaurant in Darwin by far. The service was impeccable and Maricar, who served us, was an absolute delight and very passionate in explaining to us how the food is made. Awesome cultural and culinary experience!!!

Yelp
After a long day in the outback 10 of us slumbered in for a team dinner. The banquet meal selection was outstanding value and delivered a cornucopia of flavored at a fair price.

Jen M.

Yelp
I was about to give this place 5 stars - the curry was the best I have ever tasted, service was quick and welcoming....then there was a very public disagreement by two members of staff in a foreign language. Apart from this brief moment of awkward discomfort, in my opinion if you like curry (there are other dishes though too) this is the place to eat in Darwin. Slightly more expensive than most other restaurants in this area, worth every cent.

Yelp
Best Vindaloo I have had in years! Hot and spicy whilst still forgiving on the tastebuds. Add friendly, professional staff with an elegant, posh layout and you are on a win win! I can strongly recommend this venue if you want to entertain someone in an excellent atmosphere with some Indian cuisine.

Larissa D.

Yelp
Gluten free curry heaven!!!! Can't come to Darwin without going to Hanuman a few times before I leave... Get stuck in to the butter chicken, I don't usually pick butter chicken at other indian restaurants but this one tastes delish! Also satay chicken skewers for entree and oysters!

Rob W.

Yelp
A lovely meal. We had the house specialty oysters to start, quite different but very good. Followed it up with a Barra curry (Indian style) and a lobster curry (Thai style) Both were magnificent. I highly recommend this restaurant

Martin R.

Yelp
This is a place to take your lady or a group. Lovely open design makes the most of Darwin weather food is Indian mostly, with som Thai influence. The menu shows you what is really hot. Good wine selection with many offered by the glass if you like.

O L.

Yelp
Very nice atmosphere, amazingly good indian food! Best Thai soup I have ever had. Our waiter Pankas was great! would come any time here again!

Brandon S.

Yelp
Great...but it used to be better. You will still get consistently great meals at Hanuman, but since they changed locations (back in 2008 I believe) it has gone from my favorite restaurant in the world (literally) to just a great one. They took my favorite dish, the Madras Okra, off the menu...which didn't help matters. But I highly recommend the mean moli. Great stuff.

Rick D.

Yelp
food's pretty good-- on par with your basic Thai/Indian where they use fresh ingredients. service is inattentive and clueless.
