Got the half jokbal, half bossam and the rice ball. Everything was so good.

We noticed a lot of Korean diners inside, which was a great sign—and the food absolutely lived up to the hype! The jokbal was tender, flavorful, and beautifully presented—easily one of the best we’ve had. The side dishes were fresh and plentiful, and the cold spicy noodles offered the perfect refreshing contrast. Portions were generous and perfect for sharing between two. If you’re looking for authentic Korean food in North York, this spot is a must-try. One heads-up: the restaurant is on the smaller side with limited parking, and the bathrooms downstairs could use better upkeep. Hopefully, they improve that soon.

The Korean food at Hanyang Jokbal was good. The Bossam (Braised Pork) was soft and tender. It’s the perfect meat to do a lettuce wrap with :) The DIY (Do It Yourself) Seasoned Riceballs was good. The Seasoned Rice was flavourful and delicious. The Seafood Pancake was awesome. It was perfectly made, crispy, delicious. Loved the good amount of seafood in the pancake :) The Bean Sprout Soup was awesome. Loved that peppery spice kick in the soup. The Korean side dishes were also good.

I visited this restaurant around 12:30 PM on a Friday, shortly after they opened at noon. The place was empty when I arrived, but it seemed like everyone was busy prepping for the day. I was warmly greeted by two friendly staff members: one was the cashier/hostess, and the other was in training. I also noticed a couple of guys hard at work in the kitchen. I stopped by for takeout and ordered their original Jokbal. The service was excellent, and I appreciated how thoughtfully my order was packaged: it was easy to carry and secure, with no risk of spills. The portion size was generous, intended for two people, but we ended up with leftovers. As for the Jokbal itself, the flavor was good, but I personally prefer a firmer texture; this version was a bit softer than I typically like. On the plus side, there were plenty of sides and sauces to complement the dish, and the accompanying lettuce was fresh and very clean. I also want to mention that they offer a 5% discount if you pay with cash, which is a nice little perk. Overall, I enjoyed the friendly service, thoughtful packaging, and generous portions. While it wasn’t the best Jokbal I’ve had, it’s definitely worth a try!

Google
Decent jokbal with big portions. I had special half and half jokbal and spicy cold noodle. The jokbal and side dishes tasted authentic, but the noodle was too sweet and spicy. Also, I was expecting buckwheat noodle (Makgooksoo), but it was rather naengmyun. So it was mainly bibim naengmyun with some vegetables. The portions were bigger than I expected. The two menus I ordered could serve at least 3+ people.

This spot is definitely known for their Jokbal in the area and I gotta agree. We came as a group of 6. Seating was a bit tight, but honestly, the food more than made up for it. We ordered the original Jokbal (braised pork hock), spicy Bossam (grilled pork), seafood pancake, and the DIY rice ball. Highly recommend the original Jokbal, you really get to taste the flavor of the meat, and the portion size is great for sharing. The spicy Bossam? So juicy, tender, and packed with flavor. Another solid choice for the table. Now, the seafood pancake… hands down the best I’ve had in Toronto. Yeah, I said it. Super crispy, loaded with seafood, and just unforgettable. Do yourself a favor and get your own, thank me later. And skip the steamed rice, go for the DIY rice ball instead. Comes with seaweed, mayo, and I think fish roe? You even get gloves to mix it all yourself. Kinda fun and definitely tasty. Definitely visit if you are craving some flavorful meat and carbs combo!!

Found a dead fly in our takeout order — absolutely unacceptable. We were shocked and disgusted to see this after opening our food at home. It completely ruined our meal. Cleanliness and food safety should be a basic standard. We won’t be ordering from here again.

I ordered this from a different location and this time I got a different item. I usually order the jokbal with green onion but they gave me cabbage and it tastes better with the green onion its the same company but they are serving different items. Also the jokbal was 80 percent fat and there was barely any meat seems like this restaurant is trying to save money I won't order from here again.

The portion is big. Foods were on point. Especially their Kimchi, it’s good enough for me asking for buying more to store in my fridge lol

Yelp
First Korean restaurant in Canada that specializes in jokbal. Jokbal is a traditional Korean dish! Comes in original, spicy, garlic, bbq, and more! We also got rice balls (roll your own) to share and a seafood pancake. We were starving and ate pretty much 90% of it between 4 people Will definitely try the garlic one next time! And rice balls again as it pairs quite well. Service was pretty quick and there was a lot of people! Overall ambiance was great!

Yelp
This is my first time having jokbal, so I don't have anything to compare to, but it was absolutely delicious! We ordered the garlic jokbal which came with very generous amounts of garlic topping. The portion size of the jokbal is quite large and is definitely more than enough for two people - maybe even 3 if you don't eat much. The seasoned DIY rice balls were also delicious and a perfect accompaniment. I would definitely come back again! Just a note, the restaurant is very busy and the interior is quite small, so expect at least a 30 minute wait. The tables aren't really set up for groups larger than 4, so that's something to keep in mind as well.

Yelp
Came here on a Sunday right when it opens at 12pm. Four of us ordered a garlic jokbal (pork feet) $44, diy rice ball $12, kimchi bacon pancake $22. Generous portion, taste good! The garlic jokbal is full of collagen, the fried garlic and the sweet garlic sauce was also good. When wrapped with lettuce it'll help you eat a few more pieces of the meat! The meat itself is tender, the skin is chewy, marinate is good too. Pancake was crispy on the rim, though I don't taste much bacon. The rice ball was fun. But I couldn't get them as round as others did. And I'd prefer more flavor, maybe more mayo. As for the side dishes. Seems weaker than other Korean places where there's fish cake, glass noodles, potato etc; it basically only has kimchi and some shredded lettuce. The soup looks clear but it's spicy and garlicky. Service was ok. Environment was fair, not too big of a space but each table has a clear partition. Total bill came out to be around $92 all in for the four of us with left over for 2.

Yelp
September 30, 2023 -I've actually been here a few times and it is one of my favourite restaurants to go and get Jokbal (pork hocks). We ordered: 1 BRAISED PORK HOCKS 1 SPICY COLD NOODLE 2 SEASONED RICE BALL Everything was delicious. The DIY rice balls are so good!! Definitely recommend anyone to go here. The staff are nice and friendly.

Yelp
This restaurant is specialized in serving pork jokbals. Had the opportunity to try their half bossam half jobkal set, along with the seafood pancake. For the half and half set, huge portion sizes and can serve 2-3 people. The jokbal and bassam was very tender and juicy. Goes really well with the lettuce and the rest of the sauces. The seafood pancake was also quite huge (8 pieces). It was served very hot and was filled with many ingredients such as the cuttlefish, clam meat, onions, etc Overall, quick service, gave good recomendations and this restaurant provide good korean sides with refills allowed ( for the lettuce, kimchi, sauces etc). Enjoyed my time at Hanyang!

Yelp
We met up with friends on a Friday night to try the other location of this really yummy restaurant. Glad to say this didn't disappoint at all. We got there and we had to wait outside as inside was completely packed. After 20 odd minutes, we gotten our table. The food here is quite similar to the other location. But I did find this location has the kimchi pancake with bacon. This dish is total drool! The ambiance is great too, very lively and good vibes. Will come back again.

Yelp
Really enjoyed the Korean style pork hock here. We tried the spicy Jokbal and it was delicious with a slightly Smokey and spicy taste to it. The pork hock was super tender! Service was great, they were very friendly and helpful! The place felt clean, cozy yet spacious with flexi glass as dividers between tables. Definitely would be back to try the other flavours and sides.

Yelp
This place is JAM PACK, and they do not accept reservations. So if you going in with a bigger group or during busy hours, there is a possibility of a 30-1hr wait. Jokbal AKA pork hocks is something that can either taste really good and made perfectly or it could be like eating super fatty meat and feeling super overwhelmed. That was one of the reasons i have hesitated in giving it a go. But after looking at so many good review videos about the restaurant through tiktok and IG, i have decided to give it a try. We got lucky and got a table within 5 mins. Service was 5/5, super tentative. Don't hesitate to ask any questions if you want to learn more about the dishes and types of Jokbal. For 2 people, we ordered the Garlic Jokbal and DIY rice ball. Roughly $30 per person and super worth it. Rice balls were 5/5. Love how it wasn't too oily, and very light on the taste buds. One of my favs and of course making them makes it even more fun. Garlic Jokbal 5/5 the meat was tender and juicy, and wrapping it in lettuce with toppings made it even more fresh. Love the crispy garlics on too, add a crunchy on every bite. Overall great experience, great food. Definitely would come back, but with more people for sure. Couldn't even finish half the jokbal during that night Check out my tiktok for some video action

Yelp
Might be the best jokbal I've tried in Toronto. Would recommend the half and half if it's your first time, but highly prefer the jokbal over bossam. Also, one order of meat with many side was more than enough for 4ppl + we had leftover meat. +visited the second time and tried their spicy jokbal, it pairs great with rice.

Yelp
First time ever having jokbal. Was thoroughly impressed with the staff and the COVID measures in place. First thing that I noticed was that they had a constant stream of take out orders which showed me how popular the food must be. Opted for the cold noodle and the garlic jokbal. Both the noodle and the jokbal were great but definitely overwhelmingly rich which took away from my overall enjoyment and no fault of the restaurant. Jokbal fell of the bone and was tender and well seasoned. First time having the spicy cold noodles and I can now see why they also provided the scissors. Next time I return for dine in, make sure to have plain rice OR have the jokbal as take out and make your own rice at home(probably why many people were ordering take out).

Yelp
Korean restaurants that specializes in pork hocks. The spicy pork hock was very good as the bbq/ grilled flavour was very prominent. I also liked how the bossam (pork belly) wasn't too fatty compared to other restaurants I've tried. Portion size was reasonable as prices were around $40-$50 for a main. Service was also okay.

Yelp
Three of us ordered the barbeque jok ball which was I believe around $42 and we decided to order extra meat for an extra $18, coming to a total of $60. The dish had a huge portion of delicious pork hock as well as a giant bowl next to it. It also came with sides such as bean sprouts kimchi, and lettuce wrap ingredients like chopped up garlic mustard red pepper sauce and this prawn sort of sauce. I really enjoyed the complementary soup it had ginger and a bit of ginseng I believe and it came in this really really cool archaic looking bowl. There was enough takeout for two portions of meat. The DIY rice balls looked amazing as well because it around $10-$15 it had seaweed, kewpie mayo, mentaiko, sesame seeds, green onion, and sticky rice. It also came with a plastic glove so you could roll up the balls. It was a unique experience.

Yelp
Hanyang Jokbal is located near Yonge/Cummer in a small plaza. I can't say much about the storefront or inside of the restaurant as I ordered delivery. They are available through Ubereats. I decided to order the half jokbal and bossam set as well as a DIY rice ball. On a busy Friday night, my order took roughly an hour to arrive at my condo. Delivery wise, all the food items were packed well. I did find that the prices were a bit on the more expensive side but after looking at the generous portion of jokbal and bossam I was satisfied, definitely had leftovers. The jokbal and bossam came with a small soup (not sure the name but it was a bit spicy and had some beansprouts), kimchi/bamboo shoots, green onion, garlic/peppers, several sauces, and lettuce. The DIY rice ball was interesting with several different ingredients on top of the rice. They also provided a plastic glove which was a nice touch. Taste wise, the jokbal and bossam were delicious! Wrap the meat up with a piece of lettuce and different toppings and it's like a flavour explosion. The pork pieces were not all fatty (I think it was a mix between pork belly/shoulder) and the jokbal was tender. I definitely could not stop eating but had to because it was very filling after a while. With the DIY rice ball, I mixed all the ingredients together with the rice and just ate it with a spoon...delicious! All the flavours worked so well together. Overall, tasty food and generous food which will leave you feeling full (with a lot of leftovers!). All this food was perfect with a glass of wine (or if you have Makgeolli or soju that would be great as well). Definitely recommend Hanyang Jokbal for delicious jokbal and bossam!

Yelp
Thought the food here was delicious! tried a few different jokbal, their seafood pancake, and some DIY rice balls. It was a great spot to come out for a group outing and each of the dishes I found individually very good. One criticism I had however was while the jokbal were very good, two of different flavors we ordered (garlic and original I think) didn't taste very distinct. I felt their flavors were about the same. The braised jokbal, however, did differ. I thought all 3 were good though.

Yelp
The jokbal here tastes just as good as it looks! It's extremely flavourful, and the texture is perfect. Our server was also extremely nice. The jokbal comes with lettuce to eat it with and they happily gave us refills. We also got the rice balls which were really good. For the two of us, we ended up having to take leftovers home and the rice balls tasted even better the next day! Would definitely recommend!

Yelp
Tried for the first time ordering through Ubereats and it was delicious! Ordered their spicy jokbal (braised pork hocks) and their bossam (braised pork meat). The jokbal was such a flavor bomb, so good! Nice textures with different parts of the pork hock. Definitely had a nice kick to it which helped cut the fattiness a bit. Bossam was also really nice, went welk with the lettuce and sides (raw garlic, kimchi, radish etc.) Each order came with rice. Our first time trying these dishes and we really enjoyed them. So flavorful. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
I'm always into trying something a little different, so when the suggestion of Hanyang Jokbal arose, I was 100% ready to give it a shot. We arrived around 12:15 on a recent Sunday and the place was already about half full. After perusing the menu for a few minutes, we decided to go with the Half Braised Pork Hocks and Half Braised Pork option. First came the various sides one associates with Korean food, including a fairly substantial dish of some of the best kimchi I've eaten in quite some time. The meat arrived about 20 minutes later and it's an almost intimidating amount of pork. It's so good, though. Both preparations are done really well, as the pork is super tender and flavorful. We received a few pieces of lettuce to use as wraps, and once you add a few of the included components (along with the meat, of course), you've got yourself a seriously tasty concoction. Is this the type of meal I'd want to eat on a regular basis? No, probably not. I might've liked some rice or something else to eat the meat with. But I definitely enjoyed the food and certainly felt like I got my money's worth.

Yelp
This place has been on my radar since covid time. To beat the crowd, we got there around 530pm on Fri. It's in same plaza with restaurant called THE FRY. The 'hanyang jokbal' sign is small that we missed it. By the time we figure out, glad that we still can find parking since we go there early (small parking because there are other stores in same plaza). Ordered the spicy jokbal (pork hoc). Huge portion (can feed 3ppl). Wow...meat is tender...and the 'fat' doesnt taste fatty/greasy. It has nice chewiness (is it collagen??). Spicy sauce is perfect (not too spicy yet it gives enough kick). Wrapped spicky jokbal in lettuce, add refreshing pickled daikon and some type of salty/spicy light-brown sauce, oh my gosh...what a great flavour combination! It totally hit the spot! The dish also comes with plain broth on the side (not sure what it's made of...but it's good to pair with the strong jokbal flavour). Overall, highly recommended! We left around 630-7. Place is crowded by then. Glad to make it early and no waiting!

Yelp
Food was great at first but eventually started getting very rich and heavy. Flavour is good, recommend only getting a small order.

Yelp
Absolutely loved the jokbal! Super soft and flavourful. The bossam surprisingly didn't have any fatty parts so wasn't my favourite. The rice balls were amazing with nice flavor and texture.

Yelp
I have visited this restaurant twice. Both experiences are good and I will keep going back. This restaurant specializes in pork hock and pork belly; they also serve spicy noodles, seafood pancake, seaweed rice ball on the side. Along with the main dish, they provide unlimited refill of lettuce wraps and banchan. I enjoyed both smoked and grilled pork hock. The restaurant is small and popular by local korean. Make sure to come before 7pm or you will expect to wait in line.

Yelp
I was always terrified of trying jokbal, the appearance of it always prevented me from trying it. My friends ended up convincing me to come here and my god it was one of the best Korean dishes I've ever had! I definitely recommend getting the spicy jokbal along with the handmade rice balls. Mix the two together and it tastes like heaven. Would definitely come here again, and the portions are exceptionally huge!

Tiffany A.

Yelp
This place has been on our list for awhile, and it was definitely not disappointing. We ordered the jokbal and DIY rice balls. We were worried about the spice level so we settled for regular, but in hindsight, we would've wanted to order spicy or garlic. It was still good though, and the portions were big. On the other hand, we LOVED the DIY rice balls. It seemed simple at first but so delicious, and I personally enjoy food that is interactive aha. We'd definitely go again to try another jokbal flavour!

Yelp
My friends and I went there for a gathering on Easter Monday. We parked at the small plaza just opposite of the street but I did notice that they have 2-3 parking spaces in front of the store but not sure if it's available to public. Worth a try if you don't want to bother park a little farther away. We are a party of 5 and were greeted and seated immediately after entered the room. We ordered an original Jorkal and half of spicy Jorkal (their lunch special). My friends think the spicy Jorkal is VERY spicy but I think it's just about right. The Jorkals are pretty tasty and good for sharing. 1 serving of the original Jorkal was good enough for 5 of us. We also ordered kimchi pancakes etc. and didn't finish all. Would consider go again if I ever come to this area in the future. IMO they should be count as a Korean specialty restaurant, so unless you want Jorkals in particular, you can probably find better places in the area for other foods.

Yelp
My go-to jokbal place everrrr! Im in love with their spicy noodle salad that I can have it everyday lool Portion is big, ideal for 2,3 ppl to share. They also comes with refillable side dishes and spicy soup. I got garlic jokbal and it was yummy and staff was friendly and nice!

Yelp
Came here on a Friday night. They checked our temperature prior to being seated. We were given an option to sit outdoors or inside. We opted for indoors. I loved that there was no lineup, which is usually the norm for this restaurant. Inside, we noticed that the tables were separated by panel dividers, which is great to prevent any spread of aerosols and particles. We ordered the classic: Braised Pork Hocks. On the side, we got the DIY rice balls and the seafood pancake. Oh man. The service here was phenomenal. When they forgot to bring the rice ball, they gave us a complimentary drink and apologized profusely. The pork hock was indeed suited to feed 2 people. It was ginormous. The dish comes with sides including: kimchi, garlic, peppers, lettuce, ssamjang (spicy dipping paste) and a salty fish sauce. The pork hock had an amazing aroma. It was so tender and delicious. It goes well wrapped in lettuce, on its own, dipped in sauce, or with the rice balls! Don't get me started with how yummy the fish balls were. They added tobiko fish roe, which gives it an umami kick. There is also some kind of smoky seasoning added. It is a very unique flavour. You make the rice balls yourself with the gloves provided. For $8, it's a HUGE portion too! The seafood pancake was a bit too soft for my liking, but the flavour was good. I left here very satisfied. The food was amazing, the service exceptional, and the prices are fair!

Yelp
this was my first time having bossam and i was impressed! bossam is braised pork wrapped in side dishes such as lettuce, kimchi, etc. this spot is small and cozy, definitely sets the vibes. i also got the seafood pancake which i devoured. it was so fresh and crispy. definitely need to go back for that!

Yelp
First Impressions: ============= Friendly staff, modern decor, cozy, clean, bustling! Food ==== We ordered the spicy braised pork hock, added rice cake side for $3 and that's it. DELICIOUS! Pork hock was super tender almost like jello. The skin had just the right amount of chew but still super tender. The season was really superb and the rice cakes were perfect. Would we come back? ================= YES!! Four thumbs up Tips ===== Use the YELP WAITLIST feature to hold a spot in line before you go. The wait is usually an hour or so but if you add yourself to the wait list first then you can save yourself some time.
google avatar

Fei M.

Yelp
This place is so crowded when you come late dinner time. Before everything if you come after 7ish, put your name on the waiting list. Came here on Tuesday for dinner. First time didn't happen, the line up is easily 1 hour. We called this time before to make sure there is open table. The BBQ Pork Hocks is marinated. The sauce is really delicious. They give a soup before to warm up your stomach. You can wrap up with lettuce. 2 person portion. No need to order side dish.
google avatar

Stephanie L.

Yelp
Before this place had opened I've been going to multiple places. But I can definitely say that this place has the best pig feet you can possibly find in this city so far. The food is well seasoned and tender so it slides right off the bone, it was delicious. I also got their seafood pancake which was crispy with a good ratio of seafood and onions. Although occasionally depending on how busy it was it might came undercooked so wouldn't recommend having it as a side since it's lost consistency slightly. But the soy bean soup they give on the side is very refreshing and spicy so you'll definitely be able to stuff yourself alongside the pig feet. I'd highly recommend this place but suggest people head earlier since they tend to get busy more frequently nowadays.
google avatar

Sophie G.

Yelp
The food is simply amazing for meat lovers! I personally adore jokbal so much and this place satisfies my cravings! We ordered two plates of jokbal and a plate of rice for a party of 3, which was more than enough. For A2, even regular spicy is a little bit spicy so watch out before you choose extra spicy. Definitely add rice cake and sausage, everything goes so well together! For the braised half and half(A9), it's flavourful even without dipping sauces, both soft and chewy! The price is on the higher end, but from my experience jokbal in korean restaurants are in general pretty pricey so I can justify the price for myself. Would definitely go again and recommend to my friends.
google avatar

Mari J.

Yelp
Hand out the best quality jokbal in the Toronto area. There are other decent options, but Hanyang offers the most variety, value, and best customer service. HOWEVER. There is one slight issue that I had in recent months. They seemed to have changed the cut of the jokbal that they use for the spicy flavour. If you order both the garlic and the spicy flavours, you'll see what I mean. They used to use the same cut as what they use for the garlic flavour (which I LOVE! There are lots of delicious fatty pieces and all pieces are uniformly cut), but now they use weird chunks? Almost feels like "leftover cuts". The flavour is still great, but I no longer order the spicy flavour. Instead, I just order the garlic and the plain, and dip the plain pieces in my own homemade spicy jokbal sauce.

Yelp
DELICIOUS, the oden soup was an elixir. It showed me what happiness would taste like in liquid form. I have the vitality of a 16 year old again.

Yelp
Both the shop and the menu are quite simple, but my parents (who's visiting from China) LOVE the jokbal. We'll likely visit again

Yelp
*Pre-quarantine visit* I was not a fan - I don't like the fact that I had to wait for over 2 hours in the cold (and no, you cannot call ahead to reserve a table). I was ALSO not a fan of having to wait for my food...only to have it served luke warm - I mean...why is my food luke warm when i had to wait for it to be served? That makes no sense. The only thing I actually liked from here was their DIY Seasoned rice - from memory, it's over $8. Don't expect this to be something fancy, it's a dish you can buy/make at home - if you make it, i'm pretty sure it'll cost you less for the same proportion.

Michelle L.

Yelp
Everything here tastes amazing! I had the best jokbal here ever. I highly, highly recommend this restaurant. The main dishes came with many side dishes. Totally worth it. We ordered a lot only for three people, but enjoyed the rest back home for dinner. It was still delicious re-heated :)
google avatar

Louise L.

Yelp
The food is very good and service is very warm. Ordered regular spicy, good for 2 girls. Regular spicy is fine cannot eat too much spicy food. The Korean rice wine is good, not as strong as Chinese rice wine but is very good matching the meal. It is better to go before 6:00 pm and we were late since I got into waitlist earlier while the list went fast than expected. But the restaurant put us back to waitlist and we quickly claimed our table, too. Overall it was a very pleasant meal here.

Yelp
Hanyang Jokbal specializes in Korean pork hock, a very fatty and meaty dish with tons of flavour as it has been braised probably for hours. Came here on a Sunday night and ordered their regular Jokbal, it wasn't very busy when we arrived so service was quick and we got our food very quickly. We were first given our banchan which was a small dish of what I assume are housemade kimchi and seasoned spring onions, alongside shrimp paste sauce, seasoning paste and raw peppers/garlic used if eating ssam style in a lettuce wrap. The pork hock also comes with a beansprout soup on the side but no rice or noodles which I think would be a good addition as the meal seemed protein/fat heavy. The kimchi is a little sweeter than I'm used to but still very delicious, it's not as salty or spicy as storebought. The beansprout soup was slightly spicy and on the salty side, it balanced out the fatty pork hock between bites. The pork hock itself was very unctuous as it had been marinated and cooked in a soy concoction, the meat was very tender and the fat/skin was very soft and sticky. They do leave in all the bones as well as the toes as a warning to those who may get turned off from it. I would have liked a few more banchan, something starchy like a potato pancake or glass noodles to add some variety and carbs to the meal, but otherwise the food is delicious. I've had this dish at Korean Kitchen downtown in Koreatown and this place does it much better, I would highly recommend coming here to try it!

Yelp
Spicy jokbal is the best! I'm a big fan of spicy food but not good at eating spicy.... and it was perfect for me. Not that spicy. I guess I loved it cuz it wasn't too spicy. It's the noodles that's way spicier. It's usually the other way around in Korea. Also loved their jumuk bob. It was perfect combination with jokbal. Must order!

Yelp
Even with the wait list we waited about 1.5 hours to be seated. We ordered the BBQ Jokbal and the DIY rice balls. This was our first time trying jokbal and it was very delicious however, extremely fatty. The rice was delicious and completed the meal!

Yelp
The reviews at this place has been excellent. Based on everyone's review, decided to try this place out. Maybe it was my high expectations, maybe it was something else, but this place was a real big let down. Everyone always says that first impressions are critical. Based on this criteria, this place failed miserably. You walk in and just stand there waiting. I guess there was a sign on the door that says checking in at the tablet through yelp waitlist, but as there were people standing and crowding the foyer, we didn't see it. First time we were there, we stood there for 15 minutes waiting for the staff.....nothing...... then one of them said to sign in and the wait was 90 min...we walked out. Learned from our mistake, the second time we went, we went through yelp waitlist. Checked in at the appointed time, and waited. and waited, and waited. It We waited approximately 45 minutes past our expected time and check in time with the hostess before we were seated. When we were seated, our expectation for the food was high. We waited over 2 hours, it must be worth it right???...nope. The pork hock was extremely fatty. The first bite was delicious, but as you ate more, you got more uncomfortable. after a while, it felt like all we were eating was fat with a little bit of meat. the DIY rice balls were a little bit of a disappointment. I guess we are new to it, so didn't know what we were doing. The staff didn't really explain anything to us, just put it on the table, gave us a glove, and walked away. At first, we shared the glove as we didn't know what we were doing, and finally gave up and just ate it out of the pan. That was a huge disappointment. FIY, don't dive right into the rice....it is very hot and my kids kept burning their hands and complaining on how to eat the dish. The side dishes were amazing. the side soup was spicy but great. Service seemed to be lacking. it feels like they are short on staff. yet like all places, when you ask for the bill...they move very fast. Definitely will not repeat.

Yelp
Pork hocks are amazing especially the barbecue flavor! Even if you had to wait more than one hour during dinner time, it's still worth it! The second time we tried garlic flavor and it's not as tasty as the barbecue flavor but also pretty delicious! Only minus one star because of the insufficient waitresses... They seem like they don't care about when the customers can sit down only walk around very slowly and elegantly even though it's a crazy rush dinner time... But in all, this is a pretty good place for hanging out with friends!

Yelp
This is the greatest Korean restaurant I've been to, and I've been to a thousand. The oden soup is straight out of heaven and the pancake was delicious. Def recommend to every single person in the world

Yelp
We came here and was planning on order the half and half with plans to order garlic jokbal and spicy bossam. It was not clear on the menu that the half and half is limited to original jokbal and regular bossam, and you cannot change the combination. So instead of order two big orders of meat, we decided to order the spicy jokbal on rice and the spicy bossam on rice. The spicy bossam tasted monotonous because the meat didn't have a good proportion of fat and meat. It was all very lean, so some chunks of meat was rather dry. The meal was still enjoyable overall. I hope the manager would consider being more flexible with the half and half even if you have to order either the original jokbal or original bossam and one of the halves!

Yelp
The server was very attentive. Went on a weeknight but was still pretty busy. I was very satisfied with the quality of food! If you're a big eater the portion may not be enough for you but the jok-bo combo was good for 2 people.

Yelp
In this non-descript plaza, you can find a one of a kind Korean joint serving almost exclusively pork hock. With the signage in Korean, you probably never would have figured out what this place is about if you didn't drop by. Anyways, my first attempt to visit this place failed because there were long line ups. Apparently the best thing to do is to join the waitlist on yelp first. So about a week later I tried again and finally got a spot. The place is quite small so if you don't reserve online, expect to wait a LOONGG time. With that out of the way, you can order pork hock cooked various ways. I had the BBQ version. One order will be served on this metal plate. As usual, you will get some sides and condiments to go with your meal. I loved the one we ordered. It was full of smoky flavor. For those who haven't tried pork hock, the meat is fatty and tender. But there's also a lot of bones. 1 order probably isn't going to fill you up. But you can add some sides to help with that. They got this DIY rice ball thing which is pretty good. It's like $35+ for a plate. Not cheap but I think it is worth it. I would come back again for sure. There's option to add extra meat for extra cost.

Yelp
Very rude. I walked in to ask about their patio situation. The place was empty and there was one person at the counter on their phones. He could obviously hear me coming in but kept seated with his eyes glued to his phone. I gave him a whole minute before saying hello. He ignored me again. I waited a few more moments and he got up, not to address me, but to turn around and say something to a coworker in the kitchen behind the window. At this point I finally said "excuse me" and he finally turned around non-chalantly. He said nothing and looked annoyed. Honestly, what the fuck. I've never seen such abhorrent service. It's not even about customer service, this is just disrespectful in any setting to any person. The owner should re-train the staff or they should expect to have take-out customers only. Disgusting behaviour. He should be ashamed.
