HAPPY guesthouse

A wonderful guesthouse in the centre of Brussels on St Jean Square, close to Grand Place and Brussels Central Station. Great location for the Christmas markets. Very comfortable room and bed with tea and coffee provided. Lovely shower room with shower gel and shampoo. Cleverly designed rooms with character. Super breakfast with local produce and Sophie was a wonderful host. Highly recommend the Happy Guesthouse as the place to stay while you are in Brussels.

'Happy' that I found Happy Guest House when looking for a place to stay on my trip to Brussels. The owner, Sophie, is extremely personable and accomodating. The breakfast is wonderful. As others who have posted reviews, the stairs getting to my room (on the 1st floor which as those of you who have travelled to Europe before know is not the ground floor but one floor up) are very tight. My room was taken care of very nicely. The location couldn't be better - such easy access to many of the great things to see and do in Brussels. The train station is only a 5-6 minute walk. There was some noise, outside on the street, which cannot be contolled. Sophie offered to move me to the 4th floor which she said would be quieter. I appreciated that but stayed where I was. I highly recommend Happy Guest House. I believe you will be happy - like me - that you chose it.

We had a lovely 3-night stay at Happy Guesthouse. As others have noted, the guesthouse is in an old building with steep stairs so only book if you can manage to carry your luggage up to your room. The beds are low, so again be aware if you have mobility issues.||The rooms are comfortable and clean. Breakfast was local and filling, with eggs cooked to perfection.||Sophie and her team were wonderful hosts. Very helpful with recommendations of local places to eat and shops to buy chocolate. The location is right by the Grand Place and a short walk from Gare Central.||Overall, we would happily stay again.||A few minor points:|It would be good to have slightly more frequent replenishment of the tea and coffee because we ran out after day 2.|The mains lead on the kettle wasn't quite long enough without putting the kettle on the floor.|We couldn't get the bedside lamps to work but that wasn't an issue because there was plenty of alternative lighting.|The blinds leak quite a lot of light at night.

The Happy Guesthouse was a last-minute selection for a somewhat spontaneous trip to Brussels. I was delighted with my choice! The location was near everything I wanted to see, and it was also only a two-minute walk from a train station. The room was spotlessly clean, and everything felt new. There were many thoughtful touches, including water in glass bottles, Biscoff cookies, coffee/tea, wonderful toiletries. The breakfast (included) was fabulous — I’ll always remember that French toast! Well done, HG Team!

Fabulous central location. Good rooms and the breakfasts are really delicious. Sophie is a great host and a fount of knowledge when it comes to the places to visit and restaurants. I'd thoroughly recommend staying there!

The Happy Guesthouse is the perfect basecamp to explore Belgium. We spent four nights at Sophie's Happy Guesthouse in Brussels and recommend it for several reasons. First, it is conveniently located within a five minute walk of Brussels' central train station. You don't want or need to change accommodations every night. We stayed at the Happy Guesthouse for the duration of our time in Belgium while making daytrips to Bruges/ Ostend, Ghent, and Antwerp. Each is within an hour or so of the central station and the trains are regular, quick, comfortable, and reasonably priced. Second, Sophie and her staff made us very comfortable. Our room was small but it was comfortable, as was the bed. There is no elevator but that was not an issue for us. If you have concerns, request a room on a lower floor. And breakfast was consistently tasty with several options. Finally, Sophie and her staff were flexible. When we wanted to get an early start, they accommodated us by delivering breakfast to our room prior to the normal breakfast window. And when our departing flight was cancelled by Air Maroc on short notice, they accommodated us by allowing us to leave our luggage and to pick it up later in the day, after we had checked out and turned in our key. So, what more could one ask for?

This is such a cute place to stay. It is very contemporary in a more traditional looking part of the city. This place is very very cozy and well taken care of. You get breakfast made in the morning and dine with others together on a long table. Breakfast is from 830-10 so you still have time to sleep in. WiFi is included. While checking in you can leave your luggage and explore the city while your room is getting prepped. She will give you some suggestions on what to see and where to go. They are all easily accessible by walking. She is very friendly and so helpful.
