Front staff was very friendly. The location right on the water was so beautiful. I had a top bunk on the top floor with a view of boats passing on the river. Beds and bathrooms were clean. No curtains on the beds so there is not much privacy when sleeping/changing. Free hot coffee, tea, water in the lobby. Breakfast was toast and cereal with lots of toppings and sides. Was not as social of a hostel experience as I am used to but it was a friendly, calm environment.

Amazing!! We stayed 3 nights in a girls only dorm and everything was awesome. Great price, really friendly service, clean, free breakfast, walking distance to everything. We were able to walk everywhere from the hostel, but were also able to take a quick bus ride to the beach for 2.50 euros. Bus and tram are right outside. We can’t wait to come back!

The apartment on 2nd floor was spacious and comfortable and clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful and understanding about my need to leave very early. The kitchen space was great the WiFi was fast so I enjoyed working remotely there for 3 days. The street could be a bit noisy especially with the trams in the daytime but late at night it was fine. I really enjoyed my stay and was sad to leave! Porto is beautiful and I look forward to visiting again!

Amazing place with a great view! Not very central but is just a short walk to most places. The staff are kind, rooms and common areas are simple but clean. Includes a great break fast and tea/water and fruit all day to take. Definitely recommend!

It is located in a different and beautiful location where you can explore Porto. The staff is great. They used a small space very efficiently. Breakfast was very good and sufficient. I would especially like to congratulate the hostel on cleanliness. The only problem is people who don't know how to stay together and the noise they create. My suggestion is this: It would feel much better and safer if the room doors could be locked.

My friend and I decided to celebrate the New Year in Porto. I booked Happy Porto Hostel for 3 nights, and I really felt at home. The staff is kind and helpful, and the owner is responsive and understanding, the transportation is just 3min walking, a central location tp walk, I really recommand

Yelp
Decidedly unhappy - bullies solo female travelers When I entered Happy Hostel, the man responsible for check-ins was outside conversing with another lady for a few minutes. Then he entered, greeted me, and asked if I wanted to check in. He was still in the lobby and did not go behind the reception desk. I said yes, he said 'You need a passport', and I got it out. But he lingered in the lobby asking me personal questions, still not going behind the reception desk to do the check-in. I felt it strange and interrupted him and said 'Sorry, I want to check in now please.' He became quite tense and got an angry look on the face, finally went behind the reception desk, and then asked me my name. I told him and at the same time gave him my passport. He then asked me whether I was jetlagged, and I said no. He seemed upset by this for some unknown reason. He did not enter any information from my passport nor do any check in activity at all. I was feeling even stranger especially as the other woman was gone and I was alone with this strangely behaved man. So I said I am sorry but I don't want to answer any more questions, I just want to check in. At this moment he threw my passport down on the counter with a melodramatic thwack and said my reservation was cancelled and I had to get out or he would call the police (!?) He shouted at me to get away, get out of here, you are not wanted here! So I went out of the hostel but he FOLLOWED ME OUT to the sidewalk. It was an overall bizarre and disturbing experience and I told him I would report him for it, as well as photographing the building. I also called the police to make a report as his loudness and following me around was threatening behavior and I wanted to be sure of getting protection in case he became violent. Solo female travelers, avoid this place like the plague!
