The building that houses the hotel looks like a slum building. Broken windows. Sheets in front of windows. Very dodgy. Do not book there unless you have first physically viewed the place and then you can make up your own mind.

I had a very dramatic experience at the Hotel. It was a nightmare. This was in 2021, I booked my stay online from abroad, I arrived at the hotel, they demanded my documents to book in. For some reason I never got my passport back, I further got stuck in the elevator for 3hours, of which when I returned to my room, my items were missing. Not to mention that they changed the rooms, from the room I was initially booked in, to a smaller room. I had paid online, but every morning the housekeepers kept knocking on my room reminding me it's check out time, validating that I must pay. This was by far the worst Hotel experience I've ever had. I lost a lot of things at this hotel, my passport is the fundamental thing I was robbed in that hotel. I do not recommend this hotel to anyon.

DO NOT BOOK AT THIS PLACE!! I am sure this place needs to be inspected by a health inspector. It is also definitely not electrical compliant with wall plugs open and exposed wired in the rooms (a renovated room). There was a serwege pipe that seem to have burst in one of the hallways and it was dealt with by slapping some duct tape on it. The ceiling was not cleaned. Apart from the above health and safety concerns. The rooms have no decor, no scatter cushions, no towels, no coffee, tea or kettle as promised. It is also not a bathroom but more a wet room with a glass window that is completely see through if the light is switched on. The excuse of a basin is located almost directly over the toilet. You can drink water out of the tap while sitting on the toilet. Apart from basic functionality being horrible, it was absolutely filthy. They definitely do not clean these rooms!! The bedding had stains on it. There were no towels either. We requested towels on check in (16h00). At 21h00 we still didn't have any towels. There were 14 other guests at reception complaining about the same issues. 'Clean' towels arrived and on inspection they also were dirty. We left and demanded a refund. This place should close down there doors!!! It is disgusting and nothing like the photos!!

Horrible experience, false advertising. What you see on the website totally different to the actual venue. They insist on keeping your ID or Cellphone. The door couldn't close properly so one could easily look in from the outside. Had booked 2 single beds which were there... But there wasn't enough room to put our suitcases in. Parking is also paid for on a daily basis....

I had a wonderful experience at the Happy Rhino. Most of the staff were delightful and eager to help! Thank you! Will recommend. My partner and I booked an apartment at Happy Rhino for three, the apartment was extremely clean and the cleaners were available on-call for whenever you needed them, the place was very comfortable, and the staff was amazing particularly Candice whom is the manager and Prince their handyman was ready to assist with any arising challenges. They went over and beyond to help make the duration of our stay enjoyable and pleasurable. I highly recommend Happy Rhino for anyone visiting downtown Cape Town for short and long term bookings. They were extremely accommodating and allowed us to check in early at like 10am. We got to hotel super early and I didn’t want to wait. So this was a big plus for us. The service was exceptional as well. Would definitely send a friend there.

Didn't have a 2 point plug, room was cold, wasn't a TV remote, place was dirty when I got there. For the money I paid it definitely wasn't worth the poor experience I had. To top it off i still had to beg for my own refundable deposit knowing I didn't damage anything so why did they try keeping my deposit. Definitely had a poor experience here. Wasn't worth it.

Dodgy as hell!! ||Unfriendly staff, questionable guests, dirty parking area you pay for. Didn't feel safe at all!||Room that gave me an option for a double or single ended up being a single and very small. No floor mats or hand towls... USB ports don't work and neither did the kettle. ||Arrived late back from a dinner and no one would open the parking for me, manager stank of alcohol and was rather aggressive raising his voice at me saying they are busy. Female alone I felt extremely intimidated and unsafe.||They asked for my ID at check in and never gave it back! Only found out once I was 500km away and pulled over in a road block! ||Lift Only goes to 5th floor and stairs to 6 and 7th are dirty and dodgy! ||Just don't book here... you will regret it.

The advertising online is good but the service provided is terrible. It took me 1hr to check in for starters. For a hotel the amenities they provide are too basic. On my 1st night the security guard had access to my room and opened the door without knocking. When I came to complain, they claimed to have a glitch on their system and didn't seem remorseful. On Saturday, I complain to the manager Mrs. Marion about the incident the previous night and she promised to look into it but did nothing about it. No feedback, no concern nothing. The noise levels are terrible at night and the walls are so thin. Added to that, the cleaning services are deplorable, I left the lid of a cider on my window from drinking and rushing out to head to town. When I came back after they had "cleaned", it was still there. They didn't clean certain sections of the room. Overall the advertising online is great, but the services provided do not deserve a rating. That place should not be called a hotel.
