On the Grid : Gyoza Lou

"Fried or boiled? With or without garlic and chives? Those are about all the options you get at this gyoza dumpling restaurant - along with a few side dishes. But the dumplings are so good that you’ll keep coming back for more!" - Misa Matsuda Maraun

A down to earth establishment. I was alone so I got a place quickly at the community table. They have a big u shaped community table and a few separate tables. I tried the garlic and chives fried dumplings. They were delicious and the tofu with the minced meat sauce was excellent. The gyoza making machines had oil buildup and black corners. The owner was at the counter which is next to the community table. He was having lively chat with a lot of people on the table.

We were told it was a 1.5 wait for a table for our group which was 6+. I had been here many years ago and the food was great along with the drinks, mainly beer. Definitely worth a try if you have the time to line up. Best suited for small groups.

The gyoza was pretty tasty, but some of them were burnt which was disappointing. I really enjoyed the tofu with meat sauce. That was yum. It was nice that there was no queue! The menu was a bit hard to understand. Also it was cash only which made it a bit confusing. Not sure I would recommend. Good prices though!

A very simple spot that delivers on both atmosphere and food. It fills up quickly, so get there early—otherwise you’ll be waiting a while to get in and even longer for your gyoza. The pan-fried gyoza are the best, especially the garlic ones. As for sides, the chicken soup is excellent, and the bean sprouts with minced meat are just as good.

The special meat sauce on the tofu was life-changing. The owner came out and plucked me out of line because I was a solo diner in a sea of groups and it was an amazing lunch. I loved watching the chef make the gyoza. What a cool process!

At first glance, the cooking station didn’t inspire much confidence — it looked a bit grimy, with visible grease buildup. But we decided to give it a shot, and honestly, it was a great call. We tried every variety of gyoza on the menu and they were all delicious. The tofu with toppings was a standout. The prices are very fair too, so I’d definitely recommend checking this place out.

Nice place away from the Main Street. The food is a blend of Chinese/Japanese noodles. Order thru QR code in English. Shrimp suimai and pork suimai are delicious. The ramen is Chinese based w a nice crunch texture. Very nice clear soap base w generous slices of pork chashu
