Lots of good choices, a pretty shop, but unfortunately the employees were packaging candy without gloves and a turtle was handled bare-handed. Still ordered a couple things. The marshmallow caramel was very tasty! Thank you for that.

To say we were impressed with Harbor Candy Shop was an understatement! They had SO many chocolates to choose from, and really unique and artisanal ones at that! I wish I could’ve sampled one of everything. We picked out a couple truffles and a box of a dozen pieces to take home. Super high quality. I’ll always make sure to stop here when I’m in the area! The staff was patient and kind as we took in all of their offerings and decided what we were going to pick out, and they had some adorable fall treats out too!

Salt water taffee has the best flavor I've ever enjoyed. Too sticky to remove from paper it was wrapped in however. Lost 1/2 product due to this. Tried refrigerating with little success. Frozen works and paper is easily removed but is hard on teeth. Is there a better solution?

I’m officially obsessed with their sour candy lobsters — SO good, I’d make the drive just for those! The shop has an awesome mix of goodies: chocolates, candies, taffy, and more. And that smell when you walk in? Total nostalgia. Definitely worth popping in if you’re in the area.

Google
Impeccably decorated on the outside, window displays, and inside. Definitely some old school candy store vibes. Tons of chocolate options and you can tell the owners really put a lot of effort into the store.

Google
Harbor Candy Shop's chocolate is melt-in-your-mouth perfection. Their dark chocolate nonpareils are heavenly. They offer a great selection of sugar-free chocolates as well and they're delicious. This store offers a wide selection of candy...lollipops, saltwater taffy, jellybeans, maple candy, already-boxed chocolates, personally-selected chocolates, and many other sweets. Staff work quickly to keep the customer flow moving well. The candy is worth dealing with the Ogunquit traffic!

The lady that helped me obviously did not want to be there. She was anything but helpful. I asked if they had anymore milk chocolate caramels and she asks me if there are any on the shelf that are boxed. Well obviously not if I am asking her for more. Regardless, I said no and she shrugged her shoulders and said then we’re out. Instead of saying we have some in the case, she was just going to allow me to just leave. I happened to notice them just to her right and had to ask her to give me some of those. Why she didn’t have the common sense to offer by saying we might be out of the boxed ones but I can wrap these up for you is beyond me. More of the Mainer lackadaisical and incompetent attitude I have grown to become accustomed to I guess. Not very good customer service in my opinion. Not to mention she is allowing money to leave the shop due to her laziness or lackadaisical attitude.

Google
I was looking for dairy free/vegan chocolates for Valentines Day. I found this store online & ordered a vegan sampler box. They were carefully packed & arrived quicker than expected. It was such a beautiful selection & every last one of them was delicious. Definitely worth the price to ship them to California! I'm getting ready to place another order. I'm in love with these chocolates!

Yelp
There's an incredible variety to choose from, including every type of chocolate you can imagine--even sugar-free options. You'll also find taffy, lollipops, licorice, and so much more. It's a fun spot for both kids and adults.

Yelp
We've been coming back to Harbor Candy Shop for over 20 years, mainly for their delicious dark chocolate covered caramels. The caramels are delicious but I've had equally delicious chocolate covered caramels elsewhere. So why did I leave them 3-stars after our most recent Ogunquit vacation this past week? One reason was the caramel size....or lack thereof. Harbor Candy has gradually increased their price per pound over the years, but they've also gradually reduced the SIZE of the caramels as well. They're now the smallest caramels I've ever seen. The other reason is the lack of direction when ordering/paying. It's a bit of a free-for-all. There were 3-4 girls behind the counter with customers on the sides and the front. And there was a small line in the front waiting to order/pay. I felt bad that we ended up getting served before the people in the small line, but it was out of our control. It's more how loud you speak when you want to order. I've experienced this frustration in years past but the owners don't seem to care to address it. They also had NO packaged caramels on the shelf. None. It seemed to me that they didn't have enough staff to keep the shelves stocked with the number of customers swarming the counter to order over the counter. They have always had a mix of packaged dark and milk chocolate caramels on the shelf on the outside of the counter, so I was surprised this time. As a result, it took our worker about 10 minutes to package a half pound of dark chocolate caramels. Will we return next time we're in Ogunquit? Not sure, but unlikely. There is no denying how delicious their chocolates are. I just wish they'd return to the original caramels size and bring some needed order to the ordering/paying experience. It's a problem they should be able to solve if they care to do so.

Yelp
Owner is nasty and some staff can be rude. Several chocolates are very good. Their shipping policies are not consistent with other candy shippers.

Yelp
Located on Main Street in Ogunquit, Harbor Candy Shop is a quaint candy store offering a vast array of sweets. The sheer variety of options can keep customers engaged for hours, making it challenging to decide on a purchase. The assortment of confections is so impressive that it defies description, as the adage goes, a picture is worth a thousand words! If you are shopping on Main Street Ogunquit, check out Harbor Candy Shop.

Yelp
Beautiful little candy shop! Stocked full of chocolate, candies, and gifts to bring home. Taffy was delicious! Customer service could be a bit better, as we were not greeted or helped during our visit.
google avatar

Yelp
1 star only due to the rude customer service from the older man behind the counter. There's zero directions on how to order or pay so we were just waiting in the line when we basically scolded for not knowing what to do. However, the candy is great. I understand it's tourist season but treating customers like that is unnecessary. Both my wife and 17 year old daughter concurred that he was rude.
google avatar

Yelp
This is always my "must go to" shop when I'm in OGT. The chocolate is some of the best in the area. Very tight space but the variety is incredible. It's a must go. Expect crowds. They do their best behind the counter. They had to workers the day I arrived and they were struggling with flow. Certainly a good thing to make sure there's around next time!

Yelp
They have many types of candies and chocolates. Dark Milk Filled Sugar Free Options Taffy White chocolate

Yelp
We have loved stopping in this candy store for many years, in the main drag of Ogunquit with street parking. We always love the candy, jellies, red candy lobster lollipops, and more.
google avatar

Charles L.

Yelp
One of our favorite candy stores! We have come here for years... They have all sorts of chocolate candy made at the store, from bark to rolls to nuts and chews and cream filled candies. The chocolates are delicious!

George D.

Yelp
Candy good prices to the moon. Help is courteous just way too high. Very quiant that's what I like did I mention too expensive?

Yelp
Loved every bite out of these rich chocolates. My friend got 10 chocolates for $14 and I got 5 for $10? I guess mine were heavier? The workers were very kind to us. The place was opened up later for Memorial Day weekend which was so nice. My fav has been the praline square I got. Yum!
google avatar

Chris G.

Yelp
Awesome place. Such a variety of chocolate. Nuts, fruits, caramels, nougats and more. Almost every style has a dark and milk chocolate version. With the dark version being plant based. Highly recommend a visit. They also send gifts for those of you far away.

Yelp
Visited this shop today and found ourselves in chocolate heaven. The shop is amazing with almost any type of chocolate variation you could think of. When you visit take your time and take it all in because there is so much it can be overwhelming. Big on chocolate and raspberries so picked up some raspberry baskets, dark chocolate with a raspberry purée fondant (amazing!), dark raspberry truffle, framboise truffle, cashew and cherry bark and other things that looked pretty scrumptious. They also have things such as chocolate rocks, salt water taffy (plenty of great flavors), gummies of any variety you'd like, licorice, and if you're looking for sugar free they have plant if that as well. Staff are very helpful and patient as you make your selections so no need to rush through your exploration of all that they have. Felt the prices are in line with other fine chocolatiers. Social distancing is enforced with masks and only 5 patrons allowed in the store at a time. Definitely a place to visit if you are a chocoholic!

Yelp
So many options to choose from and so many unique items like the marzipan log infused with blood orange, fruit jellies, fruit dipped in chocolate in addition to the truffles and other chocolate delicacies you would expect to find. Great quality at a premium price and friendly unobtrusive service.
google avatar

Yelp
I don't usually care for tourist trap places like this that try to pump out junky confectionery items to the touristy masses that walk through the doors during their busy season. This place is a little different though, as they have a nice selection of items that are of higher quality and 8n my opinion, worth the extra few dollars primarily because you're supported a mom and pop operation. We all need to back the "small people". For me, I'd much rather spend my money in a place like this as opposed to a chain type establishment like the Ben & Jerry's bext door who I refuse to spend any of my $ there (for reasons I won't get into on a review), but I feel good about supporting the locally owned shop that has hand crafted specialty items that will put a smile on anyones face!

Yelp
A MUST stop when in Ogunquit. Great service. Amazing and endless options. They have the best fudge I've ever had and the reason behind my new found love of salt water taffy. I wish I could rem the woman that helped me. She set my truffles in a beautiful box and wrapped it perfectly. If my memory serves me right her name started with a L. Lilian I believe. But she was so awesome. I purchased a twirly pop that was broken and she found me one that was all in tact. Doesn't sound like a big deal right!? But it was considering the store was busy and the pops are all in one bucket and there tons of them. Oh and find all the jelly belly flavors Love it here

Yelp
Excellent chocolate and wide range of candy. Excellent customer service both in person and on-line. Highly recommend.

Yelp
I've been coming here for years and it's usually a very lovely place but the middle aged woman who works there now is incredibly rude. Yelled at multiple people in the store for not ordering the exact way she wanted them to. Unfortunately, after many years, I'll no longer be returning.

Angela C.

Yelp
We love this shop and have been going for years. Since we moved we have often had boxes of expensive candy shipped to california via ground without any problems. This past week everything arrived completely melted and had clearly already been meltedf as the candy was one hard block. Sadly this establishment did not feel we deserved any kind of compensation or refund or to replace the candy, that we should have paid more for air shipping and looked at the weather. Lame service on every level. And my kid won't get his fave candies for his bday now either. been going here my entire life! SOOOOO disappointed in this service.

Yelp
My husband and I love coming here. Great, quality candy. It's expensive, but you get what you pay for. A very wide variety of different (and delicious) candy.
google avatar

Donna M.

Yelp
Go to the back & watch the candy being made. The aroma is eye-rolling heavenly. Chocolate Walnut Fudge, Turtles, Truffles ~ a vast assortment to choose from while walking Main Street. Have gifts shipped to Family & Friends, & reap their sincere appreciation for an unparalleled treat.

Yelp
Thank you for having an amazing variety of vegan chocolates and truffles in your meticulously arranged confection cases. My husband I were finally able to visit today, and I am so sorry we didn't come sooner. The dark chocolate enrobing the truffles has a pleasant snap, and the filling was light, velvety, and the perfect representation of the listed flavor. While we have not tried the peppermint patty yet, I am sure it will be gone before the end of the night. We will be spreading the word, and we will be returning!

Dale K.

Yelp
This shop has the BEST light and dark chocolate treats in the UNIVERSE. We always drive to the shop any time we are at our second home in New Hampshire. The staff is great and the pricing is well worth the drive. Their light and dark bark and turtles have no equal anywhere in the world. My son loves their chocolate covered pretzels. My wife loves the ability to select her favorites for a custom box of pure chocolate heaven. Additionally, a walk through the town and down to the beach usually lasts about four turtles. Yes, I usually resupply before heading back to NH.

Lisa G.

Yelp
Chocolate shop right on Main St. so you wonder if it's any good. Well, it is excellent! My husband rates every chocolate against Sees from Ca. and he rated Harbor right up there with Sees!
google avatar

John M.

Yelp
The Penuchi fudge here ROCKS as does most of the others. The chocolate selection is rather impressive, but as others have pointed out it's quite expensive. It's really cool they have preserved the old look of the place... It's like stepping back in time and is worth a visit. Beware... The store is small so it gets crowded after two minivans offload at the same time... Plan accordingly
google avatar

Denise M.

Yelp
Short, sweet and expensive. One cashew turtle cost $2.60. I forced my face to maintain the cheerful smile while I was robbed for candy. Venture in and enjoy the selection is it vast and gourmet but for me it was average. The stars are for the staff, the selection and presentation and the support of local businesses to thrive. My friend loved it but she's got a serious set of sweet teeth to match the vigor of her spending. I do not. Cute place with quality chocolate.

Yelp
Was blamed for their credit card machine not working and the lady whom was trying to get the machine to work was visibly frustrated. It was my husbands card i diddnt know the pin. She wouldnt let me call my husband so i texted him he sent me his pin. I then offered to enter it. It was a debit card I just wanted some chocolate man spending 50$ for chocolate is alot but hay vacation. Anyway after she decided to blame my card for the issue i told her that probably wasnt the case but i understand. And im a manager too and i would appreciate if she would be candid with me. I was not appreciative of what came next. A barrage of yelling and told to leave the shop. After asking her why she immeditely started acting that way, she got louder. I went to leave and i realized my friend was still in the shop waiting for help. So i yelled for her to just have us leave.I grabbed my chocolate and left. Honestly been shopping at the harbor candy shop for 20 years it is a staple in my family to go every visit to ogunquit. But apparantly im not welcome in their shop anymore. So i guess the harbor candy shop is crossed off the list.
google avatar

Stephanie G.

Yelp
Expensive but delicious chocolates. And if you get the small stuff, it's actually not too bad. I tried a turtle and it was delicious! I also picked up a few gifty items for about $4 each. There is a lot of variety and a lot of stuff to look around for fun. There are some bigger sets or chocolates you can buy by the pound that will be a little more money, but it's really good value and good quality for the money.
google avatar

Ty H.

Yelp
Play chocolate place. Incredible variety of chocolates. Great price points. Love the salted caramel especially
google avatar

Lynn R.

Yelp
My, my, my...what can I say? These chocolates are extraordinarily melt-in-your-mouth delicious. We bought a small box of assorted light and dark chocolates for ourselves, and another as a thank you gift for a neighbor who was watering our flowers for us while we were on vacation. We usually visit this shop right after we have dinner at La Pizzeria, which is across the street. These chocolates are rather expensive, but it would be a shame to miss out on such confectionary artistry. Go on in and try the bliss!
google avatar

Stacy P.

Yelp
A very busy candy shop in the heart of Ogunquit, it left a little to be desired. We purchased several different items (sea salt caramels, cashew clusters, malted milk balls, turtles and peanut brittle, licorice). The peanut brittle was good but the rest seemed stale. For such a busy candy shop I didn't expect this. The service also didn't seem very friendly. We were ordering many items, and the girl behind the counter seemed very short. We could not tell her more than one item we wanted at a time. She also did not get our order right. They have many unique items in the store, but I will not be rushing back here.
google avatar

Rooty T.

Yelp
Awesome candy store with long history in Ogunquit. Nice selection of chocolate and fudge in addition to commercial candy such as Jelly Belly. May favorite candy is divinity and brittle. They offer both peanut and cashew brittle. For folks that like Heat, chili infused chocolate is decadent!
google avatar

Jen E.

Yelp
Cute little candy shop with homemade chocolates and more! There are so many unique flavors of chocolate and all types of candy. If you're looking for a gift or souvenirs to take home to your family or friends I guarantee they'll love it! It is a bit on the pricier side but they are handcrafted and made with love. Support your small businesses! This chocolate is one of the best chocolates I've ever eaten, definitely better quality than your average supermarket chocolate. If I come to ogunquit again, this is another pit stop I'll have to make!
google avatar

Jenica P.

Yelp
I love stopping in at this amazing candy shop when I'm visiting Ogunquit. The chocolate smells so good and I have so much fun being around so much candy. Everyone is so friendly and helpful, thank you, love

Yelp
Decided to check this place out as we were walking around downtown. It's much bigger than it looks from the outside! There were a ton of goodies to see inside, and they have a really wide array of items to choose from so definitely something for everyone. I like how you can see them making things in the back room too. There was a long line but it moved quickly. We decided to try a few different things. The milk chocolate maple leaf was fantastic! Our favorite from what we tried, it had a strong maple taste. The cayenne pepper one had some mild heat and was okay. We had some kind of pistachio marzipan one that was also great and one of our top choices. I'm not sure if I would come back as we have another favorite chocolate shop closer to where we live, but I'm glad we tried a few things out from here and I would recommend!

Yelp
I was introduced to this place wayyy back in 2000 when I lived in NH and my parents lived in Maine. A vendor of mine ordered a Christmas box for me as a gift. Holy toledo. Rich, not waxy at all, not too sweet, and very decadent. Difficult to do in concert. They pay attention and get things right. (Would love to be a taste tester on new flavors!). They cashew dark turtles, the almond bark, the truffles... yum. The sugar plums they make on holidays didn't appeal to me but were worth trying to see what they were about. I have tried other "home made candy" places in Maine, FL, NH, and CA as well as Italy and this one is at the very top of my list. Somehow with a small child I just never made it to the actual store. Instead I mail ordered my "gift to myself" every year at Christmas. I moved away from NE to FL in 2001 and every Christmas I still mail ordered. Then in 2014, I went to Maine on vacation and FINALLY visited the store. OMYGOODNESSS. The smells, the variety, the helpful people. I bought $50 worth to take home to San Diego (where I live now). This year, I am going to mail order at Christmas again. My only cautions: the store is always crowded (they need more room!) and there is not many places to park. And only take a child that is well behaved. I cannot imagine otherwise.

Yelp
Lame. Lame. Lame. Boycott the harbor candy shop. We made a purchase of super overpriced candy they help was nasty and they wanted to charge $1 for a shopping bag. Get a grip.
google avatar

Yelp
How could I forget to review Harbor Candy Shop? I discovered this place on my most recent trip to Maine, and now it's definitely one of my go-tos whenever I visit. There's a lot of eye candy in addition to their selection of sweets. The store itself is a decent size and gives off a quaint New England charm. My favorite selections are definitely their fudge and their peanut butter cups. Super yummy - the chocolate was smooth and definitely hit the spot. Excited to explore this place more during my next trip to Maine.
google avatar

Debrin S.

Yelp
Oh that lovely dreamy sensation one gets as they enter a chocolatier. The aroma waifing through the air..... Should you desire a decadent treat or are looking to purchase a gift for a friend this would be the place. It's a bit over whelming @ first but a true feasts for the eyes. The praline stack, ginger chocolate, truffles (oh! So many choices), toffee, butter crunch, peanut butter cups are all a tasty option. Indulgence can be wonderful!
google avatar

JD H.

Yelp
Do NOT leave Ogunquit without visiting the Harbor Candy Shop!!! The fudge is amazing, all the candy is delicious and you have to try the divinity if you haven't had it before. (Raspberry peach is my favorite flavor!) This is a well-known and long established business and they've earned their great reputation. There's a line now due to COVID - only 4 customers at a time - but well worth the wait!
google avatar

Logan D.

Yelp
Amazing chocolate and so fun to browse this shop! You can see employees making the chocolate in the back! This is a great place for gifts (or for yourself :) ). The chocolate fudge is awesome as are the little chocolate rocks (taste like M&Ms). If I had more money to spend I'd definitely have gotten a small box of their chocolates ($10) or a bar of dark chocolate ($6).
google avatar

Nicole S.

Yelp
I liked this place a lot. We're big sweets people but we all like different things. There was a big selection and everyone was able to find what they liked. It's small and busy so a little cramped inside. Service was good but a little confusing since they don't appear to have a set cashier instead everyone helps the next person and that includes this picking out chocolates which made it a bit chaotic at the check-out.
google avatar

Jailene R.

Yelp
Great crafted chocolates! The store is absolutely beautiful and has a Bavarian village feel. The smells alone deserve five stars. I bought a peppermint patty, two peanut butter cups, and a few rose and peppermint infused chocolates all for under $9 which I thought was a steal compared to other specialty candy stores. The peppermint patty was the star and I can't wait to go pick up another!
google avatar

Kathy T.

Yelp
CRAZY. AWESOME. CHOCOLATE. I used to work for a chocolatier. I love good chocolate. This is the best that I have ever tasted! It is pricey, and since I am a local, I cannot go there in the summer, so I buy for Christmas. I get the Grande Sampler box for a few of my awesome clients as presents year after year. I mixed it up one year and got gift baskets and actually got emails and calls, "Why no chocolate this year?" I won't make that mistake again! Their chocolate dipped fruit is amazing, they have sugar plums in the winter, fruit jellies, and just an amazing array of fine quality chocolates. They expanded into the store next to them a while back and also added a gallery so you can see them making the candy. I have had nothing but terrific service (but I do go in the winter which is very quiet). If you cannot find parking on the street, there's a gas station right past the row of shops and Right after the gas stationing is a little parking lot with two hour free parking.

Yelp
This review is more on the customer service and overall experience than the chocolate. The chocolate was lovely as all the other reviews state. The problem was that I wanted a box of assorted chocolates chosen from the displays and some fudge. Aside from the fact that it was Ogunquit during peak summer tourist season which means that there were wall to wall people, getting the attention of the employees was difficult. This wasn't due to the fact that they were all busy helping other customers, they were clustered in center of the displays all chatting with each other. So you had to call out if you had a question or wanted help. Once I picked my chocolates, I went to the fudge woman to have her cut me a small piece. She actually asked me if I would wait while she helped the next person in line. I said yes figuring I could get my other box and then get rung up by the fudge lade once I got my fudge. Bu no, the other employee wanted me to wait for the fudge then bring that to her to have her ring up both. Probably after waiting for her to finish helping whatever customer she had taken in the interim. I told her to just ring up the chocolate & forget about the fudge. I was at my wits end from getting bumped and stepped on and just wanted to get the hell out of there by that point. TL;DR they need a better system to deal with crushes of tourists.

Yelp
If your looking for warm friendly customer service, then this is not the place for you. This review is not about the candy ( the candy and chocolate are fine) but more about treating the customers with a little respect. After all, we are the ones with the money!!! My wife and I went in and wanted to buy some licorice, did not see any bags, I politely asked the owner for one and he immediately rolled his eyes and gave a sigh. He stated there was a whole stack and pointed, but we did not see them. He frowned his way over and pulled out one that was way in the back of the shelf. He then mumbled a rude remark and walked away . Sorry to have bothered you, you miserable old F...! I felt like I walked into an episode of Sienfeld, Instead of the Soup Nazi, it was the Chocolate Nazi. Sorry buddy, but there is a lot better chocolates out there than yours. If you want to survive in this economy, you need to treat your customers like people and not a nuisance. To quote the Elaine ... "Next!!!"
