Yelp
Well, this was a very pleasant surprise!
I lived in San Francisco, for many, many years, before retiring elsewhere, so have long been familiar with the many hotel options in the City. I've stayed at many of them, when visiting over the last few years, but wanted to try a "new neighborhood" this time. It was delightful.
The location couldn't be better. Right at the waterfront, the neighborhood is full of spectacular new buildings, even though the Harbor Court is in an historic one, and the area is vibrant, with tons of friendly folks walking dogs, jogging and having a good time. The area is full of bustling restaurants. The views are legendary.
The hotel itself, a boutique-style one, is charming. The lobby, where complimentary breakfast and evening wine are served, is warm and cozy and a great place to strike up conversations with other visitors. Many of the clientele seemed to be European tourists.
Rooms are on the smaller side, but spotlessly clean, comfortable, modern, and well equipped. (There are plenty of charge outlets.) The rooms are very quiet, too.
Staff were wonderfully friendly and accommodating. I traveled with my Labradoodle and they made my guy feel very welcome indeed, even remembering his name every time we came through the lobby. (There is a great dog friendly parklet right across the street, btw). Like most places, there is a pet fee, but it was actually a little less onerous than at some other venues.
Valet parking worked well and was priced much as it is elsewhere. Unlike some other hotels, however, they allow in-and-out privileges, which can be quite handy.
My only disappointment is that I saw no evidence of a bellman. It would have been nice to have had some assistance with my luggage, since there are stairs from the auto entrance and I was trying to juggle a dog at the same time. Sadly, this amenity, though, appears to be disappearing from the hotel scene everywhere.
We had a great stay and will be back!
