The hotel has a great location: in front of the the Edgartown Lighthouse, a 5 min. walk right next to the beach. Also maybe a 10 min. walk to Edgartown downtown. The hotel is beautiful, the room was ample, comfortable, loved the decor throughout. The staff was attentive and very nice. They have a little golf cart that can take you to the downtown area as well, if you prefer not to walk. The pool also is a plus, with a bar and a grill. We had a lovely stay. Will come back!!

I was returning from Monaco with my European fiancé and we saw Harbor View was hosting an Easter Day Brunch so we decided on a whim to take a layover on Martha’s Vineyard before heading back to NYC. Did not disappoint. Certainly matched Le Mistavar or Rampidoli where we had recently patronized. Trust me, she is picky! The view is fantastic places in a quaint town little town. What really made the experience was our bar tender and server Hunter. He was extremely astute; recommending quality bourbons I had craved after being forced to drink only sweet wines from the French Riviera. I would certainly make a reservation, as I had expected to simply swan in and situate at one of the many tables with the most exquisite views. However, relegated to bar seating, I was pleasantly pleased with the attention, candor and grace that Hunter provided us with! Hunter followed me to the bathroom and I was quite curious after recently proposing so I peak over the well lit clean stall. And wow, he was strong a fit but it took him both arms to list what he had in his shorts to ensure it didn’t touch the water. View from the bar was still expansive and pleased us with views of the lighthouse and harbor. Would highly recommend and will unequivocally return when the trade winds bring this gem of and island warmer temperatures and to dine of more delicious sea life.

Amazing food and staff. I had a wonderful time at Bettini. Loved the ambiance of the restaurant. The food was top notch, as well as the drinks. Get the chocolate warm cake for desert, its a must! - Thank you to Anna, our server, who made my birthday dinner an amazing experience.

Great experience at Bettini. Our server Ana was knowledgeable and made our dinner very enjoyable for me and my family. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. The only thing I would recommend is maybe a sauce to go with the ribeye. Otherwise, everything was on point! Will definitely be back again.

Amazing amazing amazing !! My husband and I came for our honeymoon and the Harbor View made our trip 100 times better. On day 2 we were stuck inside due to rain but that was okay .! One of the restaurants in the lobby offered a nightcap for the guest. The service was amazing. We were treated like family from everyone. I recommend you stay here ! So worth it!

Pure Perfection at Harbor View Hotel – A Stay I’ll Never Forget I truly don’t even have the words to express how exceptional my 5-day stay at the Harbor View Hotel has been—it was absolutely flawless from start to finish. From the moment we arrived, the experience was elevated beyond expectation. We were upgraded to a beautiful room, which completely transformed our trip, and that seamless magic was all thanks to Maddie, who was not only professional but incredibly warm and welcoming. Her attention to detail and genuine care made us feel immediately at home. The entire team was phenomenal, but a few people truly stood out and deserve all the recognition in the world: Caroline, who seemed to help everyone with everything—always with a smile and such grace; Timothy, Jolie, and Viktoriya, who each brought such kindness, attentiveness, and warmth to every interaction. Their level of service and hospitality was not just impeccable—it was heartfelt. Every detail of the hotel was perfection: elegant yet relaxed, stunningly maintained, and full of charm. The views, the atmosphere, the people—this is what hospitality should feel like. To the entire Harbor View team: thank you for an unforgettable stay. I already can’t wait to return. You’ve set the gold standard.

If you are looking for a luxury hotel with a dreamy view, this is it!! Every aspect of this hotel exceeded our expectations. From the early check in, to the dining , the luxury pool experience, the bartender and, of course, the view!! It is the perfect/only location for visiting Martha’s Vineyard the way is is meant to be visited.

Yelp
Bottom Line: Luxurious, historic hotel with friendly staff and comfortable accommodations. My husband and I had a lovely stay at the Harbor View hotel during the shoulder season in late April/early May. Here are the three things I enjoyed most about this historic hotel: 1. Our room looked out to the Edgartown Lighthouse and the views were very peaceful no matter the time of day. It was also nice that we could easily walk over to the lighthouse and beach to get a closer view of the circa 1828 structure. The lighthouse wasn't open when we visited but we still enjoyed walking around it. 2. The hotel was within walking distance from the shops and restaurants in Edgartown. We enjoyed admiring all of the lovely homes along the way. The hotel was also within a very short walk to walking distance to the Carnegie Heritage Center and the Chappy Ferry. 3. I love American history and architecture so I enjoyed staying in this 100+ year old hotel that is fully renovated to offer modern amenities. I personally enjoyed walking up the original steep stairs, admiring the banisters and balusters and feeling the unevenness of a well settled hotel under foot. (But if that isn't your thing, don't worry, there is an elevator.) This hotel reminds me a lot of the quaint beachside hotel on the Seaside Hotel television series (aired on PBS in the US and originally Denmark's public service channel). We were fortunate to stay in a corner suite with many windows. We enjoyed the natural light during the day and we were thankful for turndown service at night to close all of those curtains! We also appreciated that there was several places to sit in our room to just relax. Since we were on MV during the shoulder season and it was unseasonably cool, the hotel was not very busy. We enjoyed the stillness of the building and chatting with the friendly staff daily. Since it was chilly when we visited a soak in a hot tub would have been nice. If the hotel has a hot tub we didn't see it but they were in process of getting the pool ready for the busy summer season. Overall, this was a very relaxing and luxurious stay.

Yelp
Very nice hotel. We stopped in for some drinks. I think their back bar was called Behind the Curtain. Chatted up a lovely bartender, Miguel, he was awesome. It's nice to meet people who respect their trade & have friendly dispositions. He understood the value in providing excellent customer service & we were here for it all. Even though the A/C was broken, we opted to stay at the bar & chat with Miguel & another nice couple that joined us at the bar for drinks. Overall, the hotel was gorgeous & the hotel staff was very friendly.

Yelp
Amazing hotel, and fabulous staff. Had a weekend getaway with the family at this beautiful historic hotel and absolutely loved it. The food at the restaurant downstairs was delicious, the staff at the front desk, valet, and turn down service were excellent. Our waitress at the restaurant knew when to hang back and went to approach the table and was so pleasant. The views from both rooms were absolutely amazing! Looking forward to going back in the future!

Yelp
Beautiful hotel on an incredible tip of Martha's Vineyard.... Edgartown. Shout out to Vuk, the bartender in the Clubhouse bar, for the tastiest drinks: watermelon crush and a transfusion; which we sipped while rocking on the front porch staring out at the Edgartown Lighthouse. Thank you for the good conversation as well.

Miranda B.

Yelp
This hotel is the best hotel in Martha's Vineyard. I highly recommend it. The staff is very attentive!

Yelp
A beautiful property on Martha's Vineyard worth checking out. This was my first visit & it was super special. The rooms are spacious, clean and newly renovated. Everyone was very friendly & accommodating to us. The sunset views were perfection. The hotel overall reminded me of the White Elephant in Nantucket. Walking distance to town for restaurants & bars. The perfect summer weekend getaway!

Yelp
If I could give it more stars I would. This is a Resort that stands alone. B4 my wife and I could open the front doors, there were 2 staff members each opening the doors as if we were royalty and thanking us for coming out in such terrible weather to stay here at this resort. I knew then and there that this establishment and its staff take pride in where they work and their job. We were checked in with such professionalism,I must say some of these chain hotels on the mainland can take some pointers from these people. After checking in the woman who checked us in Hannah said I'll show you to your room in the Roxanna area (this room is not in the main building but adjacent to the swimming pool and outside dining area. Then as my wife and I were about to roll our small weekend rollaway suitcases the woman insisted on taking my wife's suitcase and when my wife said she had it she said " oh girl I got you, my wife laughed and they walked off like besties, mind you as the hubby I bought up the rear. When we arrived at our room it was immaculately cleaned not anything we could find to complain about. Later this evening we went to the dining area for dinner but they were booked up, but they were willing to seat us at the bar ,we declined due to the crowd. But it is a very elegant restaurant which we may try another evening. We went to check the weather outside and met Staff member Steve from friendly and after speaking with him found out we grew up in the same neighborhood in Manhattan small world. All this day 1 of a mini getaway. Oh they also knew we were celebrating our belated 42 wedding anniversary and had a bottle of chilled champagne waiting for us upon our arrival. NICE TOUCH & a very nice day 1

Yelp
Amazing location. My favorite part of the hotel was Alison, the concierge. She is warm, friendly, and very knowledgeable about Martha's Vinyard.

Katelyn M.

Yelp
Edgartown excellence. Incredible grounds, amenities, service and stay. Mercedes Benz partner- you can request to be on the list to drive a complimentary car- great way to see the island and have excursions. Location is lovely, use complimentary bikes or walk 10min to Main Street. Restaurant is top tier, great for a night out or special occasion. Rooms are spacious and well kept. Real fireplace in suites. If you're wanting MV luxury, stay at Harbor View.

Rebecca H.

Yelp
We had an absolutely excellent stay at the Harbor View. We're leaving New England in a few months and took my birthday as an opportunity to visit some spots that will be much less convenient to get to after our move. Cue Martha's Vineyard. As a white upper-middle class person I somehow managed to grow up in the northeast and NOT make it to MV. Until now. Yes, I am a chain hotel bitch. No, there are zero chain hotels on the island. We expanded our horizons to perusing vrbo and airbnb but nothing was really grabbing us. I found another place in Oak Bluffs that looked cool but didn't offer parking. This place offered parking and was conveniently located in Edgartown and so won our business for our four night trip. We came over on the latest ferry of the day and therefore, arrived to the hotel on the later end, around 11pm. We were promptly greeted by concierge who was friendly and welcoming. We were checked into our room quickly and provided with the down and dirty deets of the hotel during our stay. Parking is free and pretty close by. At nighttime, we did struggle to find a parking spot but were always able to. Our visit at the end of April was off peak but the hotel still seemed full. I can't imagine what parking is like during peak summer months. The room was on the smaller side but we did ultimately have adequate room to maneuver freely, mostly thanks to a small walk in closet which housed our open suitcases during our stay. The furnishings were beautiful and the climate control worked perfectly. The bed was very comfortable, the linens and towels soft, and the shower spacious with great water pressure and a faucet that was easy enough to figure out. The TV was large and I LOVE that they have a guide channel. I'm not sure if I should share this with the world but I've spent way too much time in hotels trying to figure out what the fuck was on TV. There are a few bad things that I have to mention. First, the sleeping temperature was peculiar. The fabric of the sheets are such that when you first get into them, they feel frigid. They provide a very thin blanket, no big fluffy duvet in which to warm up and subsequently overheat. I was legitimately so fucking cold I had to spoon the fuck out of GF to obtain some body heat. When I eventually HAD to turn over, I couldn't get warm and HAD to turn up the thermostat. After a few hours of sleeping, the sheets become warm and then you're ROASTING which requires a further adjustment of the thermostat. Additionally, the walls are very thin and it's easy to hear other guests in the hall. There was no issue in the middle of the night because I guess nobody was naughty but if you plan to sleep in, good luck. The shades don't do a great job of keeping a significant amount of light out in the morning. The service was spectacular. Everyone we interacted with was extraordinarily friendly and warm. Our room was pristine upon our arrival and cleaned to perfection daily. Location is PERFECT. Many restaurants, cafes, and shops within walking distance. Views from the hallway and some of the rooms are absolutely gorgeous of the water and Edgartown Harbor Lighthouse literally across the street. I would absolutely stay here again on another visit to MV!

Yelp
This was our first visit to Martha's Vineyard. We will definitely be back and staying at Harbor View. Great location, all around beautiful grounds and an amazing staff. The hospitality started before we arrived with a phone call to welcome us and see if there was anything we needed before our visit. Once we arrived, we felt like VIP (we're not) from beginning to end. The thoughtful gestures from the decorations in our room to the message on our dinner menu will forever be remembered. Front desk, restaurant, room service and housekeeping were all friendly and helpful. I'm not able to say enough about Steve he made our stay perfect and wishing we could have stayed longer. We will be adding a few days to our next visit.

Yelp
Really great stay at the Harbor View Hotel. I stayed over the Christmas time holiday and the staff really did everything they could to make our stay comfortable and fun. Over our 4 day stay, the manager, restaurant workers, and front desk people especially really went above and beyond for us, even on Christmas Day. Because not much else was open on the island because it was the off season, we spent a lot of our time in the hotel lobby playing games, sitting by the fire, reading, etc. There frequently were Holiday themed snacks in the lobby and always a selection of hot teas and coffee, along with a fire burning to warm up the space. The hotel is built more like a home rather than a hotel, with two stairwells, one running through the center of the hotel and the other on the side. The lobby of the hotel is more like a living room which was perfect for the wintertime. The rooms are very cozy and somewhat spacious depending on what option you choose. One of ours had two benches, a couch, and a patio. Our other room had a really nice window seating area. Overall staying at The Harbor View gave more of an Inn or a shared cottage feel, which I really appreciated. We also were able to find an UNBELIEVABLE rate for the Christmas time, so be on the lookout for hidden deals. This would be the perfect hotel in the wintertime for a family who is looking for a relaxing getaway, solo travelers wanting alone time, or even writers who are looking for a quiet space to write and focus.

Ariana M.

Yelp
Location is what sets them apart from other hotels in the area. Love being right by the harbor- great for strolls or bike rides in the evening. You have the option of renting a small cottage or a room in the hotel. The cottage experience was quaint and sweet. Not a far distance from the hotel and pool area. Great restaurant for dinner and very child friendly. The pool staff was especially helpful in helping us to shade our table during by the pool. Would definitely return.

Jan W.

Yelp
First, I have to say this was a decent hotel. Clean. Rooms are small but nice. Most employees are really nice. The location is good and has a beautiful view. The employee who was a manager (Zane) is the biggest reason I would not go back. He was very rude to a lot of our group. I get that apparently there is a noise level ordinance that starts at 10pm. I also get that it is his job to enforce it. But there is a right way and a wrong way to do that. His way was wrong. He never asked politely or explained why he was shutting us down (we were a party of 24 who hasn't seen each other in 2 years). I never heard him say anything nice to anyone. Everything was very rude and demanding and condescending. The food was mostly good, but very expensive. We did the buffet one morning. I do not recommend it. The sausage and eggs were so cold I would have sworn they came straight out of the fridge! It certainly wasn't worth the exorbitant price we paid for it. If I ever had a reason to return to Martha's Vineyard I most certainly would not stay at this hotel again.

Diana G.

Yelp
Pros: Quiet area Beautiful setting Elevator Good toiletries Fruit and water complimentary in the lobby Free parking (limited. First come first serve) Free WiFi ( worked 98% of the time) Beautiful porch with rocking chairs Heated pool Ice machine available Cons: Room old and weathered. Shower leaking Staff not friendly Pricy for what you're getting We had the opportunity to stay at another hotel on day one which was cheaper and overall better than this place and that is why I have given it a three star. I expected more. I think if the staff made us feel welcomed and cared about what was going on, it could have gotten a four. The hotel is a 10min walk from restaurants, stores and bars. We stayed in the main house. I can't vouch for the other rooms. First the good stuff: We were able to check in early. They did hold our bags while the room was being prepared for us. The lobby is beautiful and always has a fire in the fireplace going. They have water and fruits to snack on. The porch is perfect for afternoon tea or even to read a book. The area is pretty quiet, so can definitely have the peace you need. The rooms are big. The bed was comfortable. The room had a fridge and a keurig. The bathroom was clean and had great toiletries. There's an iron and an ironing board. The closet is spacious enough. The Parking is free. Even though it was limited, we never found a problem finding a space. The not so good: Our room was on the second floor facing the parking lot. What threw us off is the little things that could be done to make it look presentable. The plate around the sprinkler was dangling. Same with the one around the vent. The door trims were either stained or cracked. The paint was peeling. The shower leaked all day and night. We did inform the front desk and it still leaked when we returned. The toilet lever must be held down for a prolonged period of time in order to flush. Staff never acknowledged us. One day it was pouring and we came in wet. At any other hotel, you would expect someone to ask if you need a towel or something, this didn't happen here even though there were at least 5 staff members around. For over $500 (depending on what deal you get) a night to stay at this hotel, I expected better rooms and customer service. I would say to look around prior to booking this hotel.

Karen F.

Yelp
Living my best life... includes the spectacular view from the wrap-around porch overlooking the lighthouse. Elegant vineyard vacationing at its best. Swanky restaurant and bar area. Impeccably clean restrooms.

April T.

Yelp
I am a fan of this hotel! I had originally made a reservation for a weekend stay, but I accidentally booked the wrong weekend. Although their website was fully booked for the weekend I actually wanted, I was able to call the hotel directly and they were able to accommodate me. Very grateful about this as every hotel website (including direct) was sold out!! This saved my anniversary weekend! The hotel itself is in a quaint location, a few blocks away from downtown Edgartown. I appreciated this as it felt private (well as much as you can be with million-dollar houses on each side), and a quick hike to a lighthouse. When we went, the hotel was in the process of renovation, and the ones that had been completed were quite nice. The lobby and front porch are welcoming and invite you to relax at this hotel. The rooms are clean and tastefully decorated. If I ever come back to Martha's Vineyard on holiday, this hotel is definitely one I would return to!

Yelp
Having never been to MV, I asked friends and did some research. The Harbor View came highly recommended, especially with the newly done updates. I booked a historic room with ocean view and linked up with concierge, Darlene. Darlene is amazing! From the minute I booked until we took the ferry back from the island, Darlene was there. She helped me arrange a surprise 40th birthday golf trip for my husband in which I had secretly taken lessons. She went above an beyond booking every detail. When we arrived she had arranged for a driving tour around the island that dropped us off at the hotel. Darlene was right there to welcome us when we arrived and wished my husband a happy birthday. The room was ready early, had a perfect view of the ocean (and sunrises), newly renovated and immaculate! Darlene arranged a dinner at the Terrace for us that was bar none the best dinner ever. She must have called before we arrived as they sat us early, drinks in hand and the chef was sending out a few special pre-dinner samplers. The next morning Darlene arranged 18h at Farm Neck Golf course along with a driver to get us there. We were early, they were already waiting for us and ready to go. We had an amazing time and ate lunch there. Back at the hotel we checked out the pool, so perfect! They had fresh pink/regular lemonade and ice water there; and, there were tons of towels and chairs. Absolutely breathtaking venue and the pool was perfectly cleaned! That night we grabbed an early dinner in which the hotel went up a little birthday treat before we headed out; and, then had drinks and dessert at the hotel out on the front porch. Darlene checked on us again as she had arranged another perfect tee time at the Minks Meadows 9H course, along with transportation. Again, the next morning was perfectly done with the ride being early, and Minks Meadows ready and waiting for us. Darlene/they had us back on the ferry and home with time to spare. The island is full of wonderful warm inviting people and phenomenal service. I wouldn't stay anywhere else and we plan on returning with our children. I would recommend calling and asking for Darlene ASAP as she makes the stay worth it, worry free with impeccable service and kindness.

Kereth H.

Yelp
Beautiful hotel, perfect location! We had a wonderful stay during the 4 th of July week. The location was excellent and our cottage was beautiful. The bell staff went above and beyond and were able to help whenever needed. This hotel is so fortunate to have Darlene as their concierge. She was so kind, thoughtful and detailed. She went above and beyond to plan and check in with us. Service was overall very good considering Covid and lack of staff. Will definitely be back!!

Sylvia S.

Yelp
Pros: -Hotel Room was spacious and good night sleeping -View from our room was very picturesque -Great location, easy beach access and nice walk to downtown -Awesome bike rentals and easy to check out for a trip around town -very comfy seating on front porch Cons: -no shuttle service -We first arrived at 4pm, our room was not ready, ok fine we decided to grab a drink by the pool bar but it was so crowded and only 1 staff member cleaning and wiping things down. The bar was not well staffed and were backed up on orders. Given how much people were at the pool, we decided the beach was safer -We never got the call that our room was ready after waiting nearly 40 min but we reached out to Carlos and he got it straightened out and into our room right away -We found two bottle caps in our room, we had not had any drinks yet so we know these were not ours and made me think twice about how the room was cleaned -we had a balcony but seats were so uncomfortable so we did not use it much -Hotel is large, for the price service could be better, you feel like a number here. Conclusion, we won't be returning. We will likely stay at one of the cute Inns in town where our friends gave raving reviews.

Yelp
Yes the old hotel was dated and needed a remodel and it has been worth the wait. They spared no expense with a remodel from top to bottom complete, every room the restaurant and bar! It would take you days or maybe weeks to notice all of the intricate fine details and attention that was paid to this remodel. It was very well-thought-out and the interior decorations give it a new fresh breath of life! Everyone that maybe had a mediocre experience in the past should definitely give it another chance because it still overlooks the beautiful Edgartown Lighthouse and Harbor!

Dave M.

Yelp
Nice towels, beds, staff and location... there! I have given you the things that are deserving of this hotel. Now the rest of the story. Don't be fooled by the website photos; yes, their lobby is beautiful (as is the view - IF you have a water view). However, this overpriced hotel has seen better days and the current owners ought to get their act together and restore it to the grandness that its history is worthy of. It is shameful that the paint is peeling throughout the hotel, wood is rotted, etc. Normal wear and tear is one thing; this is pure neglect. In our room (pictures provided), the deck was pathetic! The screen was literally falling off its rail, the spindles of the deck rail broken (thank God we did not have small children or they would have fallen off the second floor balcony), old paint, etc. For the price, we thought this hotel would be held to a higher standard, but apparently not. If you want to enjoy the Harbor View, get a drink from the bar, head to the front porch with rocking chairs and stare at the Edgartown lighthouse. But I would not advise you to stay there and soil your expectations or dreams of what once was. Take the winter months to fix this place up owners... it deserves more!

Katherine A.

Yelp
Harborview is a a Vineyard must. The hotel is gorgeous and the view from the hotel is incredible. Just tried out the new restaurant for brunch. The interior decor looks like inside of a steak house. I do wish the decor had a little bit more vineyard charm and style. However, the service was excellent. The bento box looks good and filling. The lobsters egg Benedict was good but could use a side like a vegetable or fruit. All around good experience!

S S.

Yelp
They're reopening but they won't answer the phone. I'll get a call tomorrow?? At least that's what the answering machine says...I made reservations months ago and I can't get the concierge to reply to my emails. They are now using open table app to make reservations but the app is limited and difficult to navigate. I'm still hoping to have fun...but it's not starting out very well. Figure it out Harbor View!!! It's been so great before this is sad

Ellen B.

Yelp
TLDR: LOUD. Don't stay here for peace and quiet. After many years of day tripping to MV from Falmouth my husband and I decided to treat ourselves after admiring the beautiful hotel every time we biked here. Pros: Top notch service, beautiful grounds, spotless, well-appointed and decorated room. Cons: Stayed in the newer Roxana and it was LOUD ALL THE TIME. Just no insulation from noise and constant banging from above. You will hear every single move. So much money to not be able to peacefully enjoy room. Also, tiny parking lot. Could be a problem in busy summer season. This place would be fun to stay for a big group but if you seek peace, this is not the place.

Jack H.

Yelp
My lovely bride and I stayed at the Harbor View Hotel over Memorial Day weekend. When we arrived, the valet, Walter, took very good care of our car and our luggage. He is a fount of knowledge about where to eat and drink on the Vineyard. He also recommended a couple of beaches that are off the beaten path. The front desk was always helpful and hospitable. We also had a brush with Instagram Preppie fame -- Sarah Vickers, KJP, Harry and Bennie were staying at the Harbor View, as well. Our room, #315, had an incredible view of the Edgartown Lighthouse and the harbor. We will definitely return!

Lindsay G.

Yelp
I loved this hotel. Whereas many in the islands are overpriced for what you get, this one met my expectations. The rooms were great and the best part is the wrap around deck where you can sit and have coffee with a view of the light house. I deducted a star for a couple of service hiccups but understand they might be busy with Covid procedures.

Francisco P.

Yelp
When you come to this hotel, the first thing you expect is having a clean and decent room! The main entrance and the lobby completely mislead you into thinking that the room you will be staying in is as neat and clean as their main entrance. The first thing you will notice when entering your room is the numerous stains all over the carpet as if they have never had them washed, you will never want to remove your shoes. Second, the bathroom was outdated and dirty in which I also found a spider in the shower during the very first night. Btw, I recommend taking showers in flip flops otherwise you might be taking the risk of getting a disgusting fungus. The headboard behind the bed was all dusty and disgusting. They clearly haven't dusted it in months. It is a room with very unhealthy conditions. They should renovate the rooms and have a better trained cleaning crew! We had to pay $520 the night to take a risk at getting sick in here.

Courtney T.

Yelp
BEAUTIFUL Loved our stay here! Great location, gorgeous views, rooms were nice, food was delicious. Only complaints are that the floors outside the rooms were super squeaky so it was easy to wake up to, and our room was very warm. Also, I think the AC wasn't working correctly. I would stay here again!

Mike M.

Yelp
6/24/15-6/26/15....We thought the Harbor view was ok, but nothing great. The rooms seemed ok except for a couple concerns in the bathroom. The floor wasn't completely clean, and we were surprised to see that the bathroom had no exhaust fan. The check in was friendly and informative as was the check out. The pool was literally just opening the day we arrived after a long construction project, so we seemed to luck out. Some areas of the outside of the building seemed a little weathered, but I guess it's expected after a the long brutal Winter we had. The front porch area was probably the highlight of this Hotel...great views over looking the Bay and lighthouse. The rocking chairs were a nice touch. This Hotel was also close enough to the downtown are where it only took about 7 minutes to walk to the restaurants, shops, and dock, but far enough away where you had the privilege of some privacy. My biggest problem here was the drink prices at the pool....$20.00 that inc. tax + tip on the bill for a Strawberry Margarita / and frozen drinks is just an absolute insult to your guests. I understand your going to charge a little more, but to take advantage like that is pretty rude and a lack of respect for your guests.....To the owners: be grateful guests are choosing your hotel, and lay off on the greed.

Yelp
If I could give this place 6 stars I would. Wow, what an amazing experience. First class customer service, clean rooms, gorgeous views, amazing staff. Me and my fiance had our wedding there and it was one of the best experience any newly wed could ask for. We will definitely be returning to this place again.

Yelp
This place could not be any more dated! "They" say it's the nicest place on the island...NOT! Maybe the nicest piece of property but the rooms are like a one star motel. $800 for a room that is so gross...will provide pictures. I'm not exagg

Yelp
Just a lovely hotel in the Winter. I was here in January and it was magical and the rooms are so very beautiful. The bed is just comfy and the sheets are heaven. Restaurant is EXCELLENT, best in Edgartown. The hotel lobby has the nicest fireplace and couches. The rocking chairs on the porch are perfect to drink your morning coffee and view the lighthouse. Loved everything and everyone here. Service was top notch. Staff is the best i have ever encountered in a hotel. Thank you all, my stay was memorable! Escape to Edgartown and indulge in peace quiet serenity and yummy foods.

Yelp
I had a wonderful stay at the Harbor View, and everyone on the staff was very welcoming. The views can't be matched on the island, and year round is so magical to stay here. The rooms are cozy and clean, great toiletries and lovely common areas. The lounge on the main level has good food, and the hotel is in walking distance to Main Street in Edgartown. Put this on your short list of places to stay on the island!

Yelp
We had an amazing time at the Harbor View. We went there for a bachelorette weekend and got upgraded to a cottage by the staff. It was amazing! The rooms are super clean and modern cottage style. The only negative thing about our stay was the staff was somewhat inattentive and seemed sort of confused at times. A lot of young kids were talking and standing around rather than clearing plates or taking drink orders. Our service at the Lighthouse Grill was very poor. We expected high quality service for what it costs. Also, we paid for a cabana and half the time we had to go up and ask for our drinks at the bar. We paid $175 dollars and at the end of the day I wasn't sure it was even worth it. We expected better service and even had to ask for the amenities that they said came included. Overall, we had a great time and we would hope to return again!

Yelp
Great changes have been made to Harbor Vew by new ownership. The food here is incredible, atmosphere, amenities, & views are too. Great off-season spot as well.

Yelp
The new hotel generally looks great, much improvement over the old Harbor View. The one thing I would say is that the designers did a poor job in the common room at the front entry beside the fire place. The furniture is cheap and not comfortable. You would think a new renovation would allow for some decent comfortable furniture here. Also not much planning around the 1st floor men's room. As soon as you open the door you can see people at the urinal, poor planning. The Bar...the drinks were good , but the staff was not very attentive. The bar menu has little offer and not cohesive. Our waiter took our money and did not return with the change...a real no-no in the restaurant business. The Bettini restaurant menu looked like a three year old made up the menu options. If you don't like oyster appetizers don't go there. We had to send the fish entree back because it was cold. When they brought it back it was obvious they had just thrown it into the microwave. Are we supposed get the best at the Harbor View? What ever new chef they have there should be replaced.

Yelp
Harbor View and The Kelly House did a fantastic job hosting my wedding and wedding guests, respectively, for my September 2012 wedding. As an out of town bride planning our destination wedding, I was relying heavily on Alison from Harbor View to be a guide via phone and email for all my wedding needs. I visited the venue once before the wedding and all the communications between myself and the Harbor View/Kelly House were thorough and pleasant all the way up to my wedding day. Our wedding guests (approx 30) stayed in The Kelly House and every one of them raved about how amazing the staff and facilities were. Every one had a two night stay at The Kelly House with not a single bad thing said about the experience. All the planning came together with the help of Alison for the big day. She took our photographer away for a bit just to go through the whole day with him and how everything would be set up. She even guided our two musicians to their place before the ceremony when I was busy getting ready and getting photos taken. The bridal party got ready in the Chilmark Room which was right off of the Edgartown Room where we had our reception. We had the room to ourselves and it was a perfect location to get ready. The weather was beautiful but the gazebo outside of Henry's Restaurant was the perfect spot for the ceremony with or without a chance of rain. After the ceremony, all of our wedding guests walked "up the aisle" back towards the Edgartown Room following us and we stood on the steps leading up to the Edgartown Room for a group photo. The buildings make a perfect backdrop for photos! Our reception was held in the Edgartown Room just across from Henry's Restaurant. Even though the room was big enough to hold over 100 people, Alison arranged the room perfectly to accommodate our 30 people wedding without us getting lost in the room. Overall, everything was fantastic and all our wedding guests had nothing but compliments for the Harbor View and The Kelly House.

Yelp
Me and my boyfriend had an amazing Labor Day weekend at the Harbor View Hotel! Not only was the hotel itself beautiful, there is a huge porch that wraps around the front of the hotel, giving you a beautiful view while you can enjoy one of the delicious cocktails they have to offer at the bar! The pool is beautiful, and was never too busy. The view offers a historic lighthouse that is a stroll away, we found ourselves on the beach of the lighthouse a few times, it is so quaint. The hotel staff was very accommodating, and we were able to take one of the cars they have to drive to another part of the island, and we even took the bikes they offer for a spin! This hotel is on a great part of the island, Edgartown has everything you could want, and it's easy access to Chappaquiddick for a quick trip! If you are looking for a welcoming, warm, and truly beautiful place to have a relaxing stay while on the Vineyard, I recommend the Harbor view Hotel! The staff are all friendly, and work hard to make your stay perfect! Not to mention the restaurant, Bettini, and bar, Roxana Bar, where the food and drinks are fantastic! This really is Vineyard vacationing at its finest, I cannot recommend this place enough!

Yelp
We had a room by the pool and I swear there was some construction which was noisy but when we called to complain it ceased quickly. But Darlene is their biggest asset!!! Loved her

Yelp
This review is about Henry's. Between 4 of us, we split 5 small plates as follows: -Littlenecks: clean, fresh, very tasty -Fried oysters: fried nicely, flavorful dipping sauce (horseradishy?) -Mac and cheese: very flavorful, chock full of linguisa and cherry tomatoes -Lobster knuckles: fresh lobster with a vat of butter for dipping, enough said -Pig cheek bolognese: not bad but I've had much better I thought prices were pretty high for both the quantity and the quality; nothing was bad, but nothing really blew me away either. Still, we left relatively satisfied, so it depends on what you're looking for I guess.

Yelp
Came here for a long weekend with my fiancé. We spend a nice day sightseeing and want to sit by the pool and relax. My fiancé goes to the pool bar to see how seating works. We saw several other couples sitting by the pool with their food and drinks and we wanted to do the same. The guy at the pool bar asks us of he can help with anything and my fiancé asks how we could Get a table for drinks. We knew we needed to order food as well, didn't think we had to make a statement we just wanted service. He was condescending and rude and says "it's a state law in Massachusetts you need food to get drinks. You should Just go to a liquor store you will have better luck" and abruptly shut us down for any service, that we were willing to give them for food and drinks. We ended up getting a seat at the pool from the really nice man working at the pool next to two young girls. The server from the pool bar hand delivers these two young girls drinks right at poolside as well as their food. The same thing we wanted to look into. Obviously the server just didn't want anything to do with us and made us feel Unwelcome at a hotel where we are spending a decent amount of money.

Yelp
I just have too many good things to say about the Harbor View Hotel. This is one of the nicest hotels you will find on Martha's Vineyard. I have stayed here many times and this is my first choice when looking for a place to stay on MV. The Hotel decor is very nice and the rooms are just great. The Main Hotel has very large rooms with your choice of King and queen size beds, flatscreen tv's, large bedrooms (some with walk-in showers) and all with very reasonable rates. During the summer months the rates are higher and reservations hard to get in July and August. If you can get there for a weekend getaway you will not be disappointed with the professional staff, service and hotel quality at the Harbor View. The hotel has a restaurant and small bar in the main building and it generally stays open late if you need a late cocktail after a long day. Book a room as early as you can and do not get discouraged if they are booked most of the summer. The fall on the island is great and many of the places are still open.

Yelp
This place used to be the best. I went here years ago on a company outing. Everything was top-notch so you felt the prices were worth it. Now? The view is still one of the best in the world, the staff is friendly and accommodating, but the details were missing. We opened the door to what we were told was the best room in the place to a blast of heat. Turning the thermostat down did nothing. 4 windows wide open, heat turned off, and we were finally comfortable. The entire room smelled of bleach, which I suppose is good for cleanliness, but made me sneeze until it was aired out. Handheld shower in bathroom was missing the head. Hairs seen on the shower wall. Tub was old, small and the grout needed redoing. They should put a soaker tub in as the bathroom is big enough. The plus: the view! Our huge room included a small balcony and expansive views. Bed was comfortable and the location quiet. Overall, very nice for off-season prices. But if I were paying high-season rates, I'd want a bit more.

Yelp
Checked in here on Thursday no hot water moved rooms then tonight for the last three hours a dog barking called front desk and shawna was rude and basically said I was lying since she could not hear the dog. We have it on recording. Her attitude was terrible. This is a awful vacation from start to finish!! I asked for a credit and she rudely told me "not her problem" The food is terrible! The cheese plate was 15 dollars for three 1oz pieces of cheese. This place is all smoke and mirrors. Do not stay here!!! Sebastian was great but that was it!!! No attention to detail!! I hated my vacation because of this hotel!!!!

Yelp
Its off the beaten path is Edgartown, and it is clean, spacious and lovely. WONDERFUL staff, beautiful wrap around porch for a bottle of bubbles, and some friends for an afternoon of views. We had inner room, so no view for us. But we were serenaded by staff surprises for our anniversary, and its those little details that make it memorable.

Yelp
My husband surprised me for our anniversary with a trip to Martha's Vineyard. We stayed at the Harbor View Hotel in Edgartown and let me tell you that this was the best experience and anniversary ever. The rooms are very clean, the grounds are beautiful and the staff are amazing. The hotel views are heavenly. Carlos, the hotel supervisor was especially the best. He met our every need and went above and beyond on even the smallest requests. Carlos really made our trip much more comfortable and enjoyable. Darlene was great and informative as well. Guy was friendly and welcoming. I can't say enough about this place. We plan to come back before the end of the year and every summer.

Yelp
It's not right that this place is such a mess after the renovation. The bartenders are slow, my salad took 30 minutes to come out. Such a shame, it used to be a favorite of ours to visit on vacation.

Alexander C.

Yelp
Great location and they know it. Very expensive with really poor service. Do not trust the pictures on the Website. Not sure which room they took pictures of but it wasn't our room. Room and bathroom are outdated. Do not stay in the Mayhew building. It's the one by the pool. It feels like Fort Lauderdale on Spring Break in 1980 without the attractive Co-eds. The exercise room was being repainted from Friday to Monday. Not sure why they couldn't wait until mid week when fewer people were there. Each opportunity the staff had to do that little extra to make our stay better was not seized. My wife and I will not be returning.

Yelp
Yes the place need some upgrade but the pricing is set accordingly ,The new ownership i am sure are working very hard on phasing the overhaul of the hotel, but Dont be mistaken the restaurants food and service are superbly executed ,Staff are very helpful humble and kind, Darlene the concierge went far beyond the call of duty to help anyway possible, The food is superbly good fresh and nicely intelligently composed , Once the upgrade is done it will be a 5 star hotel mark my word,we will be back for sure ! The rooms need upgrade but are clean and maintained, Thank You
