Harbour View

Nice and modern cottage. Privacy wise not the best since there is movement in front and at the back of your cottage with big windows. Also when the wind blows strong, you can hear and even feel it inside. Also something to improve : add a pasta drainer in the list of kitchen utensils!

So I stayed there in Jan of 25. The place was nice. I was aware of an eruption previously but the town is very empty. But its not a bad drive to places and for me it was beautiful. Missed out on nothern lights but the quiet watching snow fall and crunch of it under boots was the best. Also I had to take a picture of the shampoo they provided that was prettying banging.

You definitely see the harbour, so you are almost immediately at the harbour, which makes the location less attractive. But for the rest it was really cosy. We felt very comfortable there and would recommend going there. Parking is free and close.

Booked this place for two nights from booking.com - beautiful view of the harbour. About 10 cottages on the property, nicely spaced you don’t feel I top of the next person. Free parking lot with 10 spaces and a paved trail to the cottages (very short distance). Cottages comes with windows that can be opened and black shades to block the midnight sun. Bed fit two comfortably. Walk-in shower. Limited spaces for suitcases, need to keep folded until ready to use. Kitchen with hot plate and pots to use. Mini fridge and toaster. Locally there is food (11am-5pm roughly) and a gas station. Great location for day trips to different hiking sites.

Would not recommend. The hut is in a good location with easy access to Grindavik attractions, a nice sea view and easy to find. However, a number of things in the room were broken - the locks didn’t work, one door was hanging off the hinges and the heating was stuck on 28 degrees. Moreover, there is a lot of movement outside the accommodation meaning there is minimal privacy. On the whole it was not worth the steep cost.

It was just okay for a one-night stay and would really only suit two people. The space felt extremely cramped for our family of four (2 adults and 2 kids). Wouldn’t recommend for more than a short stopover or for larger groups.

The rooms are single bedroom apartment blocks that overlook the harbour. We've come at the end of March and it's very quiet. There is a sesmic activity alert, which has been in place for the last week, but people are still coming and going.

Harbour View Cottages exceeded all expectations! The views were breathtaking, the cottage was cozy, spotless, and well-equipped, and the peaceful setting made for a perfect getaway. The hosts were welcoming and attentive. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Iceland!
