Harbourmaster Hotel (Aberaeron, UK) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Set in the Welsh seaside town of Aberaeron, the Harbourmaster Hotel occupies the house for which it’s named, as well as two adjacent buildings, right on the harbor wall with views out into Cardigan Bay. The interiors are a lovely blend of antique and contemporary elements, and while each room is different, all share the proprietors’ love of the blue and violet end of the rainbow. A popular restaurant brings Harbourmaster guests and locals together over local seafood and modern Welsh fare." - Tablet Hotels

We had a post wedding dinner here and the team were absolutely amazing! They were so accommodating to adding on last minute additions, they wrote us a lovely card, surprised us with dessert & honestly were so welcoming. It was a perfect end to a brilliant day. We’ve always had amazing meals here, with great service but this was absolutely another level and we cannot thank the whole team enough. Recommend to anyone in the area, you won’t be disappointed with the service or the food

What an incredible place! We have been wanting to stay here for many years and finally got round to booking a room here (Aeron Queen). We received such a warm welcome when we arrived and the free tea/coffee/cake for guests is a lovely touch. The room was absolutely amazing with a wonderful view over the harbour. We were fortunate to have good weather in September so the air conditioning was very welcome. Lovely comfortable bed, super refreshing shower after an invigorating coastal path walk to New Quay and back and the roll top bath was divine. We had only booked one night but noticed that it was available the next day so we booked that too as we enjoyed our stay so much. We ate in the restaurant on the second night and the food was superb. The breakfast menu is extensive, delicious and plentiful. Well definitely return! There is currently construction work going on to repair the sea defences which spoil the view a little but the workers were respectful and the noise was not intrusive.

What a lovely hotel. Had a very warm welcome on arrival with complementary cake and coffee which was a great treat. Room was well presented with a fantastic view of the harbour. Really enjoyed our dinner in the evening too. I think we’ll be returning in the future.

We were greeted with a very warm welcome and the room we had on the top floor had an amazing view over the beach and harbour. The room itself was beautiful - very rustic and well laid out. The bar person was very chatty and the food spot on. Definitely will be booking again next time we’re down that way.

Stayed in the Lilac house, parking was easy by the garage at the back. Apartment was spotless. Lovely little kitchen and lounge with views of the harbour. Bathroom contains shampoo/conditioner/shower gel and hand wash. Comfortable beds and high end furniture. Would recommend.

This was our 3rd time eating here. The service is second to none. July 2024 we had the Sunday lunch (beef) and they were kind enough to serve me a child's portion. The meal and wine were excellent. Despite the disruptive construction works to the harbour this place is well worth a visit.

Harbourmater Hotel, Abraeron. What a place. Our stay at the end of August caught the perfect weather which just added to the perfection of Harbourmaster Hotel. Perfect location right on the quay, beautiful room with quay view. Cloud like bed, quilt and pillows. Breakfast was superb as was evening meal. Staff were polite ,friendly and very helpful and all bilingual. The hotel is situated just 2 minutes from the beach or, in the other direction, the main street. lots of restaurants and shops to pick from. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel

Greeted by Dai the GM, who is a delightfully helpful, interesting and enthusiastic chap, we knew we were in for a super stay.|Martha Jane was our room, like the others named after a ship, comfortable and spacious with the most astounding bathroom...to be experienced! |The restaurant is lively and food excellent, for both dinner and breakfast. I loved the granola and Welsh yoghurt. |Staff are attentive, friendly and helpful with local knowledge....|The Harbourmaster is all it is cracked up to be....|We hope the contractor speeds up the construction works outside.

Yelp
The folks that work at this establishment are top notch. Uniformly. And that is not a coincidence. These people do what it takes to take care of their guests. The bar and restaurant are very busy. Deservingly so. The free continental breakfast is a culinary delight and the rooms are very nice. Stayed here for a few days and wished it could have been longer. When we found out we had no hot water in our room the manager came up personally offered us another room on the other wing of the hotel that had hot water. We thanked them and they assisted us into another MUCH nicer room and even offered to have the bar send some drinks to our room. Very classy and very well handled. But I do want to apologize to the Harbourmaster staff, five stars are all they will let me give you guys! Sorry!

Yelp
This is a great little hotel, bar and restaurant in the very pretty town of Aberaeron. They have recently extended the bar and restaurant so can now accomodate many more people but I don't think it has lost any of its charm because of it. It really is the place to go in the Summer, people are spilling out of it clutching their drinks and the atmosphere is very relaxed and friendly. If you do manage to get a table to eat in the restaurant the food will not disspoint you. Most of it seems to be locally sourced and it has a very good and quite informative menu. It is a bit pricey, but its still a good place to go for a special occassion. I have taken my 2 oldest children there (8 & 6 years) and they enjoyed it but I don't think I'd want to take my younger two there as it would be too stressful. I've never stayed in the hotel but have heard that it is very nice, the photos in the brochure certainly seem good and it is in an amazing postion.

Yelp
This is a hotel with a bar and restaurant. Great place to visit. The recent extension has included a much larger bar area which specialises in food. Always very busy and extremely popular. There is a separate restaurant, the food is excellent but I think too expensive. The food in the bar is slightly cheaper but just as delicious. There is a menu but also there will be specials on a board. Seating is a mixture of leather sofas and coffee tables, dining tables and chairs, plus high tables with stools and seating around the bar. Staff are friendly and very busy. In the summer drinks can be taken outside and you can sit on the harbour wall - superb. You do not have to eat when going in the bar you could just have a coffee. Children are welcome in the bar.

Yelp
Visited while staying near Aberaeron. Went to both the restaurant and bar section on different occasions. Each time the food was very good. I felt the presentation and quality of the food was slightly higher in the restaurant, not to take anything away from the food served at the bar. Some choices you find only in the restaurant, some at both, some only at the bar. I get the feeling they reserve the more exquisite dishes for the restaurant. For example, the welsh beef in the restaurant is replaced by a burger in the bar section. The served was fairly speedy, without being rushed. The atmosphere in the bar is lively. There are a good choice of beers and lagers on tap too. Overall, well worth a visit. Warning - be sure to book for the restaurant, the sooner the better. We tried booking two days in advance and they were fully booked for the whole evening.

Yelp
Have been here a couple of times now: the location is tremendous. On a summer's evening there's nowhere better in the world. Good, honest food (steak and chips, for example), well-executed and very friendly service. I will go back here again and again
