Upon my periodic travels I had the opportunity to stay at the Hardman House! Delighted to say it was a gem of a place. It’s perfectly located to walk down the street to get a bite to eat. The beds were awesome, very comfortable for overnight stay. The staff was super friendly and very helpful. The building has great charm and easy to park! Needless to say I’ll be back again soon 😀

Google
tl;dr Only book if you have no other options. It is workable, but are definite negatives if you're looking for a place to stay with family, rather than to just be in the casinos all night. I can only imagine this hotel has 3.9 stars somehow on Google because people go in here with such low expectations. To start, they had overbooked somehow through Agoda, and Booking.com, so both me, and my travel buddy got to the hotel, and had no reservation to speak of (two separate reservations, double booked) Now, from experience, this is caused by either 1. Thinking they could get away with Overbooking, planning on cancellations or: 2. Somehow not integrating correctly with Booking.com's website. Going into this review, I will try to put out the fact that they made me rebook at the going rate, not honoring the rate that we should've had through Agoda/Booking.com. They could only book us for 1 of the 2 days, so we got to experience the hotel, thankfully, to write this review. 1. The hotel in general - had plenty of parking, and the outside looked nice. The inside is extremely run down, and unfortunately for you, if you're a Carson City resident, you have to pay 300$ for the incidental hold rather than the normal 100$ (lol). The carpet on the 2nd floor hallway was stained beyond belief, they had a sign up that said they were addressing it.. but I'm thinking that has been there for longer than you think. The breakfast was straightforward - yogurt, coffee, hot water, oatmeal, oranges, cereal (cheerios and frosted flakes), and toast. 2. The rooms - The bed was clean, my travel friend had a bed with no pillow cases (?), there were stains in the toilet, and the sink. The shower was adequate. The rooms are large, yet empty. There is a bed, a teeny tiny little chair, small table and chairs, and a microwave stacked on a mini fridge. No overhead lighting, only lamps, the carpet was untrustworthy to say the least (gross). 3. The service. Only stayed one night, cannot comment. The front desk person really did try to help with the overbooking situation, and I feel bad for them, but its so frustrating to have happen when you roll in at midnight after driving for 6 hours. Like I said before, my travel friend got a room with no pillowcases, but not only that, his room had a croissant stuffed in his ice bucket shoved in the microwave that wasn't cleaned up. It would be sad if it wasn't so funny lmao To sum up, I think it depends on how desperate you are. I think there are better hotels within a couple minutes drive of here, for significantly cheaper on week nights, and I would rethink booking this place to save a couple bucks.

This hotel has so much potential! A great location, walking distance to the capitol and Kit Carson walk. We were on the first floor. The rooms are spacious. First room, the AC was barely working, so we were moved to room 104, which had great AC but little or no hot water in the a.m. And the ice machine was broken. |The front desk staff is very courteous and helpful. The breakfast is standard fruit, cereal, toast and juice and coffee/tea. I would stay there again, but maybe not in the hot season. |Whoever owns this should invest in capital improvements, because it is a historical gem.

Google
Stayed here as a cheap stay while visiting Carson city. The rooms were a good size and well kept, but when I was there the AC wasn't working and also the toilet in my first room would flush a bunch of black stuff. I ended up having my room switched to a new one. The staff was very nice and helpful. But as a nit pick I was recommend a restaurant that ended up being not as good as other places I went to on my own. The location was really great! Especially for seeing the Capitol or rest of downtown.

Google
Perfect location in downtown Carson City for an affordable price. Front desk was very attentive and friendly. Room was clean and bed VERY comfortable. Only pick is the dated carpets, but they are going thru renovation to replace them. It is apparent they are on the road to make this an excellent stay. Will definitely stay again :)

Google
All around great. Comfortable, clean and spacious rooms at a great price. Bonus the people are friendly, helpful and wonderful. ||I travel a lot and this was a rare treat and surprise. Not just a good deal, but a very nice place so I highly recommend this as the option when in Carson City or a stop on your way to Tahoe, like we did.

Google
This place was disgusting. We stayed in room 216. It stunk horribly. I couldnt figure out what the cause was but it was definitely strongest in the bathroom. The lobby and hallways were in poor condition and dim. The air conditioner didnt work they put a fan in the room. A cheap box fan in Carson City in late June...it was not enough. They did not inform us that the a/c was broken. The elevator broke during our stay. We left a night early because of how bad the condition was. |The employees were nice and the beds were not the worst I have slept on but those perks did not make up for the other issues.

Google
This hotel is a dump. ||I made sure that I reserved one of the newly remodeled rooms. What a joke. It was gross and not at all remodeled. ||Literally a bee hive just outside my window. The AC for the ENTIRE hotel was broken - so the new hive was my only chance at fresh air. ||I cancelled and left for the Hampton inn. ||This place could easily be a decent hotel. Just needs a little TLC. Whoever is in charge of it is not giving it that. ||It feels like a 3rd world nation at this hotel. ||STAY ELSEWHERE

Yelp
Friendly staff but filthy stained carpet and dingy paint in our room and lumpy pillows Convenient location

Yelp
Have been here 4 days. Candace & Kimberly at front desk very proficient with their duties. Very courteous. Answered all my questions. Gave great recommendations for food and entertainment. Even cheapest place to get gas (its almost $2/gallon cheaper here!) Free continental brk. Great selection. Quiet!!!

Yelp
My wife and I visit Carson City (from Vegas) at least once a year and we typically stay here. It is a great value and the staff is wonderful. It is centrally located near downtown and it is easily accessible. We look forward to our next visit!

Richard N.

Yelp
The managers (Tei,Daman)whom were not present on Christmas Day , and ; did Not respond to multiple attempts to communicate by phone from hotel reception person. My wife and I with payed receipts from booking.com and email confirmation about our booking as evidence in hand. We were kept in lobby x 1.5 hours with no resolving due to no manager present. The manager finally responded by phone to the receptionist and the manager refused to accept our reservation from booking.com and said; " if you want to stay you can pay again to us ". Which was an elevated price than was from booking. Leaving us destitute on Christmas Day eve.!! I have never been treated with such lack of respect and neglect by a manager of a company whose job is Hospitality . The manager was not even willing to be at the property or accepting calls from the receptionist during business hours. I cannot recommend the Hardman house as a reputable establishment as they contract with booking.com but don't accept the reservations from them and are unwilling to resolve and help the client. Poor excuse for hospitality and not commiserate basic customer service. Very disappointing and unprofessional. Save your money and find a place that actually cares about your experience and not trying to squeeze more money from a client whom is vulnerable without a place to stay on Christmas Day eve.

Yelp
Where to start? The lobby smells like cigarettes. AC did not work. We walk in our room to find an old box fan to keep us cool. Windows are screwed shut so you can't get fresh air. Carpets are filthy. No plugs near beds. Beds are extremely hard and the room smelled like cat pee. Tiny fridge & microwave. This is a very low quality hotel! It hasn't been updated in years and it's WAY PAST DUE! For almost $200 a night I would pass! The broken AC, box fan and filthy carpets were a deal breaker! I would not recommend this hotel nor will I ever stay here again. On top of that I was charged $200 deposit. When I called the front desk and she checked my booking she had the nerve to ask if I had booked 2 rooms when she could clearly see I only had one.

Yelp
We stayed here for 2 nights. The hotel is old, but we found it to be clean, spacious and the bed was super comfortable. Check in was easy and the staff was very friendly. For the price, we will definitely stay here again.

Yelp
Avoid! This place is disgusting and a fire hazard. Plug strip connected to plug strip and windows could not be opened and they have metal stoppers. Hallway carpet is barely covering floor. Room carpet is filthy. Paid extra for sofa bed that we found was falling to pieces when we tried to pull it open and saw the springs sticking out. The fridge was on but not cold and the controller knob was broken. The final straw though was when when my husband pulled back the sheets and saw many hairs and dirty linens. Disgusting. We could not leave fast enough.

Cindy T.

Yelp
We arrived to find they were unable to locate our confirmed, documented reservation and blamed it on a new reservation system then said they were fully booked. Eventually they came up with an alternate room which had a portable AC unit which was unable to cool sufficiently, a tub/shower with no water, a tv that wouldn't turn on and the floor had stains and the pull out sofa bed was filthy. The staff was not helpful. I recommend you stay anywhere but at the Hardman Hotel - Carson City.

Arlene W.

Yelp
I am surprised by the reviews. Clearly things have changed. I stayed here for the first time in December and returned last week because I love it. The location is central. The rooms are huge -- large enough to be a studio apartment. The beds are comfortable with nice linens. It has a small refrigerator, microwave, iron and ironing board, hair dryer. The furnishings include a desk, table and chairs. The bathroom is large and has all the necessary items. The windows are big, letting in lots of light. The staff is very helpful and friendly. The lobby area is comfortable. Everything is clean. The price is affordable. I have stayed in much more expensive hotels when traveling for business, and I am still impressed.

Yelp
I stayed one night while playing golf with friends in Carson City August 16-17. Six of us booked rooms. It is in the center of town within walking distance of restaurants. It's an older hotel and the price was very reasonable. The front desk ladies were friendly and the check-in was a breeze. They told me that the hotel was going to be remodeled soon. The room was clean with a microwave and mini refrigerator. There was a free simple continental breakfast, too.

Yelp
We booked our reservation's for a king suite 2 1/2 months in advance. Called day before arrival to confirm reservation only to learn they had us booked in wrong room with two queen beds. Explained this was incorrect and needed to be changed. We were then booked into a king mini-suite which we accepted, of course having to pay for the upgrade. They explained they had upgraded their TVs and gave us directions to use if they did not work properly. There was a large TV in bedroom and a smaller one in sitting room. Directions were to push input button to work properly, however, the large TV did not have such button but smaller one did so we have only one working TV. We were informed by Cathy at the desk that last customers had stated the TV in bedroom did not work so the staff knowing left the non working TV in that room. From here things just go further downhill since we learned the toilet did no flush properly. We tried negotiating regarding price and condition and were told they would fix everything. Returned to room two hours later and nothing had changed. We finally found another hotel and checked out. Will never, ever stay here again. VERY UNSUPPORTIVE STAFF

Yelp
Hotel was OK - Hall carpets were OLD and filthy. BUT we were told at the counter they are in the process of updating! Totally believe New Mattress in the Rooms ( and old ones in the hallway) but were Soft as a Cloud - Not good if you have a Hard Mattress at home! Service was Fine - they had Basic Breakfast - ( Cereal/muffins /fruit/ coffee/ OJ etc) and EACH evening they had White & Red Wine with cookies! Only reason I did not give a 4 star was we were not told at anytime that room/towels were not cleaned everyday only on the 3rd Day. But We were given clean towels when we asked for them just an uncleaned room! We would Stay again as it was a decent place for the price AND did not Charge extra FEES like RENO does!

Yelp
I stay here every year when I m in town for this endurance run in Tahoe. Room is pretty spacious and clean, they have a little fridge and a microwave in every room, although the furnitures are kind of outdated and the TV is pretty small, but other than that, it's a decent place to stay in Carson City. The owner told me that if you book with them thru the phone rather than thru 3rd party like Travelocity, she could give you a better rate. So keep that in mind next time you wanna stay here.

Yelp
Stayed here late July 2021, I strongly suggest looking elsewhere in Carson City- having stayed at a handful of other places nearby, all are better. Will start with pros. Pros- the staff that I interacted with during stay, check-in and check-out, were very nice and polite. Especially the check-out lady. The place is overall cleaned fairly well ( I have low standards, though), and the outside of the building looks nice. Cons- Many. 1) Breakfast. This is a lie. They DO NOT have continental breakfast as advertised- just a boiled egg, yogurt cup, and a bottle of water. No coffee (the coffee machine in room is awful). This was a big selling point to me (saves morning time, etc). The receptionist the morning of my visit was very nice about it, and was shocked that they didn't tell me about this when I booked the room over the phone. I assure you, I was NOT informed about this. Also, she let me know the MANAGER was the one who booked my room initially, so there was no excuse of "junior staff" making a mistake. The natural excuse for this sad "breakfast" will be COVID, but this was July; no restrictions in Nevada, all the restaurants around are fully open, and hotels I stayed at prior on the trip had their advertised breakfasts fully operational. 2) Price change after booking. When I booked, I checked online (about ninety bucks a room, all fees included). I called in anyway and booked over phone; she told me it would be about 95, all fees included. that was a small difference so I went ahead and booked over phone, but when I arrived, I was told it would be 110 with fees- a significant difference over both quoted and online price. Whatever, I just ate it and moved on. Once again, booked by the manager- not a junior staff member. 3) Shower smelled very bad; I think it was the shower curtain, but smelled awful like mildew/mold, probably because it was bunched up and not allowed to dry in between stays and/or not washed. Not the end of the world to me, though. 4) dated rooms- in a bad way, like mid-1990s, not cute 1890s like the outside of the building. Again, I don't care much about this or the shower, it's no biggie, but in conjunction with points 1 and 2, you should really look elsewhere. You can get a cheaper or similarly priced room which is cleaner and more up-to-date on the inside with/without breakfast, and probably more professional management, in Carson City.

Yelp
This hotel is conveniently located, but that is all that I found to be good about the hotel. The hotel needs MAJOR renovations. The carpeting thought out is disgusting to say the least. Beds are very uncomfortable as are the pillows. Toilet seat was broken. I hope not to ever return unless these issues are corrected.

Yelp
It's a nice historical building, spacious room, breakfast included, free cookies and wine in the afternoon, good location, free covered parking. First night stayed in a room on 1/F, the TV was on by itself at 2 am, hardly slept as we heard people walking one floor above, so asked to get a room on higher floor next day. However, the key cards not working from time to time. The elevator out of order one morning, I told the staff, a young slim woman, she has no expression and told me to keep waiting for the elevator, later I found out it's out of order and I told this staff, she said she knew and ran away. I told her the keys not working, she fixed it and kept quiet. Most of the staff were friendly except her.

Yelp
Upside: Great friendly staff and location. Easy 1 to 2 block walk to coffee cafe's / pubs / restaurant district and a very good museum.. Larger than usual rooms and comfortable beds. Free parking under hotel. Downside: Old. Hotel hasn't been updated for 40 years it seems. TV was only 21st century addition. Constant high pitched electrical / machine whine. Advertised free breakfast but instead you got a sack with an orange, fruit bar and bottle of water.. Hotel needs an upgrade..

Marcy K.

Yelp
I booked for 2 nights in July of 2022. Room was OK, but in the corridor the carpet was filty, ripped, stained, the hard floors by elevators are filty, and it makes you want to clean the floors for them. Come on people, clean the floors, replace the carpet, make it a presentable place. This is the 2nd time I stayed here and the first time it wasn't this bad! Their happy hour was coffee, Dollar Tree cookies and white and red wine. Please folks, if you are going to advertise this as a "special attraction, keep the coffee fresh, put 1/2 and 1/2 out and make the cookies something special. You want to get people to come back, give them something nice to remember!!!!!
google avatar

Sandy M.

Yelp
Hello the 1960s would like their beds back! Omg the beds are horrible. Why do you have such horrible beds? Other than getting no sleep because the bed was so bad the place is ok. Every time we flushed the toilet it squealed for about 2 mins, wonderful when you already can't sleep and then someone used the bathroom in the middle of the night. Great location cute outside. But the yeah, until you upgrade the beds I won't be coming back.

Yelp
When we booked the hotel, it was labeled as an Ascend property. We had stayed in a hotel owned/managed by this company before and it was absolutely amazing (Peery Hotel in SLC). Upon arrival, late at night, there was no parking left. We were able to find a spot in an underground garage beneath the property, but so many people were double parked, there was only one space left there as well. Obviously nobody checks the garage and makes people park appropriately. The room was very spacious, but very dated. The bed was awful and had zero fluff to it at all. The shower head was so low, I had to pull it up so it was just pounding the back of my head, or get into a full blown squat position to rinse my hair. The outside of the building is beautiful and the location was close to food. We slept in and missed the breakfast so I cannot speak for that. It was a decent spot to sleep and shower, but I would definitely not stay here again.

Yelp
This hotel has seriously gone down hill since I last stayed here. The staff is friendly, however nothing has been updated in YEARS and the hotel is showing its age. The only clean carpets are in the lobby and halls. The carpet in our room is dirty and stained. Glad we all packed extra socks because I would not want to step on it in bare feet. The shower is showing its age, the cover for the pipe wouldn't stay in place and it wasn't 100% clean. Nothing like being in the shower and finding a bunch of hair stuck to the wall that wasn't mine. Does anyone know if it's a country wide building code that all outlets by water must be GFI? If so this place is not up to code. If you stay in the winter be forewarned that you'll need to keep the curtains closed at all times. The windows in our room were single pane glass, drafty, and the only thing keeping the cold air out is the blackout curtain. Also, unless you have a 4 wheele drive, you can forget parking in the underground covered parking in the winter. Upon check in the front desk staff told us we would get stuck in the garage because the drive ices over. So no covered parking for us. Big drag when it's either raining or snowing. While we didn't hear any noise coming from rooms on either side of us, maybe from lack of guests, we could hear the guest staying directly above us walking around all the time! No insulation between the floors. The "deluxe" breakfast is actually a continental one: 2 types of cold cereal, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, three types of breads that could be toasted, bananas, tangerines, coffee and orange juice. It will suffice, but certainly not deluxe by any means. The only reason we stayed here was it is smoke free, and was in much better shape the last time we stayed here years ago. After we got into town and saw the room I looked around online and realized for the same price I paid we could have stayed at MUCH nicer, newer hotel. I will not be coming back again.

Yelp
Stayed here for a weekend to attend my son's wedding. Terrible mistake. Very outdated, which I can understand, but so dirty. My 16mo grandson was walking around without shoes in the room and his feet were black from the dirt. I had to wash his feet and left his shoes on after that. We all wore our shoes for the rest of the stay. The beds are horrible, old spring mattress and squeaky. The shower head was so low and I'm only 5'4. The lampshades were broken and some lights didn't work. Highly disappointed. Don't stay here.
google avatar

Diane O.

Yelp
It's okay. Good location. Needs major upgrade. The hotel is charming on the outside but the furniture, beds, carpeting, air conditioning, etc is very outdated. Breakfast is included which is nice. Coffee, tea, ice cold water. Wine and cookies from 4-6 pm is a nice touch for tired guests driving from far. For one night I guess it was okay.

Tom T.

Yelp
Picked this place on the spur while passing through Carson City. Big mistake. Old and outdated in furnishings, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, etc. carpets look like multiple murders have taken place. Lamp doesn't work. Dried up beetle found between bed sheets. Door of room across the hall has brown-stained towels laying on bottom of door to keep something nasty inside??
google avatar

Erika M.

Yelp
The beds were awful. They smelled strange and they were very hard. We straight up left in the middle of the night because we couldn't sleep. When the front receptionist asked me why we were leaving I told her the beds and she said "I guess you'll only be comfortable sleeping in your own beds," which I found incredible rude and unnecessary, especially when I was still paying $80 bucks for essentially one shower.
google avatar

John B.

Yelp
Very nice hotel. Choice of covered or uncovered parking. A short walk to the Capitol and casinos. A light continental breakfast. The bed was comfortable the room was pleasant, as was the staff As this is an older building today's travelers would do well to bring a power strip for charging electronics. If I were to be back in Carson City I most likely would stay here again

Yelp
Hardman House Inn is a no frills kind of place, and it's definitely seen better days. Although it's housed in a rather attractive building, the interior and the room were rundown and outdated, and the bed cover and sheets looked as if it's been years since they've been washed. The only bright side of our stay was the breakfast which seemed decent in comparison to the horrible experience at BW in Driggs (previous review). Check in with the evening attendant who was efficient and courteous was relatively easy, but unfortunately, check out the next day with the elderly lady was more complicated than it needed to be. Overall, it was an acceptable place for 1 night, but I would not stay longer.
google avatar

Dallas H.

Yelp
Despite all the reviews of disappointment that I had read prior to booking here, I still took a chance on the place based upon the positive reviews that I did see posted. The place is a three story brick building that is very well insulated from the 17° degree cold morning that I woke up to on the day I was scheduled for checking out. There is a slight stale of cigarette smoke in the hallways, but it wasn't too overpowering. Probably a couple more deep cleanings might reduce it further. The front desk lady who checked me in at the start of the visit was very friendly and she went over the spiel of information about the morning continental breakfast and afternoon cookies that are complimentary for guests. The room itself in which I had stayed in is small, but comfortably cozy for two people. In the room there is a large bed, a small table for two, night stands, a large dresser, an HDTV (but with standard definition cable service), a microwave and mini-fridge, an iron and ironing board, a hair dryer. The place is showing some of it's old age, but it does appear the staff is doing a good job with the upkeep and maintenance of the property. It is clean and inviting for the stay. I will definitely keep this place in mind for the future when I might be in town again.

Yelp
I love Hardman House. All employees are great. I stay once a year from 3 to 6 nights. Perfect location. Feel safe and comfortable. Not high end, but really nice. Outdated but charming.

Yelp
Old and outdated decor not withstanding the only thing it has going for it is it's location. Staff seemed like they would rather be somewhere else. They never changed our reservation in the system when we called and moved weekends. Unfortunately, they still had a king suite for us. Room was spacious. TVs are small and the mattress was new in 1970. The sink was dirty as well as the toilet. Only 2 bath towels and no extra linen so when I moved to the couch to sleep I had to use my 2 damp towels. It does have AC which was working. The "breakfast" was laid out on the check in counter with stale pastries and coffee with powered creamer. Won't be staying here ever again.

Karen A.

Yelp
This hotel was a big disappointment to my family! My husband and I and our granddaughter had a suite and my daughter and her husband had a king room. First thing I noticed was towels only for 2 there were 3 in our room. Also there was dried blood on my husband side under where the pillow was, we did not notice it until the next morning! The light in the entrance to our room was not there just a switch! The room was very dirty floors had not been cleaned, when our great grandson came over he too his socks off within ten minutes his feet were black! There were bees and bugs near the windows on the floor. Burn marks from an iron on the bedroom floor! The refrigerator door was broken would not shut had to use a chair as we had meds that needed to be cold! The light switch in the living room area had a broken switch you had to try to turn it on which wasn't easy. The plug for the coffee pot would only work when you put a cup under the cord to make it stay in!! The elevator was buzzing loudly and the doors almost shut on you when you were trying g to get it. The continental breakfast was a hard boiled egg breakfast bar and water! Nothing else to say! Big money for a very dirty room!!!

Yelp
Well, where do I begin. The place is located in a nice enough area and the ladies at the front desk are nice. But that's about all the good stuff. Rooms are dated, I can feel the spring coming out of the mattress and it still smells like stale smoke. The free WiFi won't connect and the lady at the front desk couldn't tell me which one to use. There is cable, a mini fridge and a liquor store super close by. So if you're here for just a night to rest up and shower in the morning I guess it's ok. ($55.00 so I really can't complain too much) Anything longer I wouldn't recommend.

Yelp
Basic but comfortable rooms, friendly staff, great location, awesome price. What more could a traveler passing through want? Its a cozy place that should meet all your needs for a good time in Carson city. Sure, it doesn't have room service. But it is within easy walking distance of the best restaurants and museums Carson has to offer. They were very accommodating during my stay and I felt safe and comfortable the whole time I was there. I am more than pleased with this cute little hotel!

Yelp
This place is just like a motel 6, except pricier. It has a stale smokey smell and is noticeably creepy. I will not be staying here again. Pros: Friendly staff, free parking, free continental breakfast Cons: Stinky, old hotel; dirty stained floors; weird energy

Yelp
Stopped here on a trip through the Sierras and didn't really want to stay at a chain hotel. Reviews of Hardman House were good so we gave it a try and are glad we did. The staff was very friendly, the breakfast was decent and the high flow showers were awesome. If I had to compare this to a chain, I'd say it's similar to Best Western. We'd stay if we return to the area. I also agree that the website photos don't represent the place well. I'll upload some of my own pics here.

Yelp
My wife was kept awake for several hours in the middle of the night by a couple fighting in the next room. She called the front desk three times and they did nothing other than to call the couple and ask them to be quiet. This is appropriate as a first reaction, but after this went on for over three hours, they should have done something more effective. Worse, it appears that this couple live in the motel and this is a recurring situation. At a minimum, my wife should have been offered a refund. Apparently other guests are not as important as retaining this fighting couple. Stay away!!

Yelp
I needed a room at last minute due to a family emergency. Not knowing how long I would be in town I was looking for a place that wouldn't break the bank, especially if I had to stay several weeks. I didn't want to stay in a casino. In the past I never had any luck at casinos with the noise or the smell of old food and smoke. I remembered the Hardman House from decades ago when passing through Carson City. I saw the online price and knew I couldn't pay that if I had to stay more than 2 weeks, plus I had a rental car and plane ticket to consider. I called the hotel directly and spoke with a lady that understood my situation. She dropped the price to less than $45/night. I was thrilled. When I arrived, they had everything ready for me. My room was very neat & clean, most of all it was very quiet. I never heard any neighbors talking or T.V.'s. The beds were very comfortable and I was out like a light every night. I always had hot water instantly and was on the top floor. The reason I did not give a 5th star is due to the phone system. My cell phone battery died and I tried to call out of state with their phone. Since I no longer have a calling card I wanted to bill the call to my room. In this situation I had to have the front desk make the call for me and then ring my room. Otherwise, the staff was very friendly and always asking if the room was fine or if I needed anything else. I would most definitely recommend the Hardman House for your stay!

Yelp
The rooms are outdated with ONE outlet and horrible eyesore decor. Breakfast is sad and depressing, with cheap plates that broke immediately. The whole place just feels like a retirement home... yikes. Everyone there seems like they about to keel over any minute now and the front office workers are in the same boat. Overall not a pleasant experience

Yelp
Dude worst bed ever! I'm not kidding like my cot at 6th grade camp. Me and my partner so uncomfortable...and you people on here saying what a great breakfast selection should lose your posting rights ,it was on the low end of the cold continental special, ya it's some thing but not what a few folks said here only a month ago... LIARS.

Yelp
Jan 4th 2014, Staff is awesome! I carry a lot of camera gear in the car and they had me park in the basement right in front of the video camera. The room was a corner room that in my month of traveling was the biggest, nice bathroom/shower. Close in town so could walk to the capital and other buildings. Not a far drive to Virginia City. The staff and the room were so nice I decided to stay three days and even thought about staying longer. Definitely stay here!

Yelp
My wife and I stayed here for our honeymoon in 2007. It was a great experience. 2 years ago, my wife took me there for our 9 year anniversary on June 1st. It was part of recreating our wedding/honeymoon. She was 8 months pregnant with our 4th child. We arrived around 9pm and checked into our room. My wife had requested a room away from others, because we wanted to sleep in (believe me, sound sleep without kids is a great commodity). The room was on the third floor in the back. When we entered, the thermostat read 94 degrees. I immediately turned on the under-window AC unit. After sitting in the oppressive heat for about 45 minutes, the thermostat read 87 degrees. My wife asked if I minded changing rooms. I definitely did not. We asked for a new room, and were granted one on the 2nd floor. When we started the room was 87 degrees. Again, after turning on the AC unit, the room said 80 degrees. We finally fell asleep around 1130pm. At 130am, the fire alarm started to chirp because of a low battery. I ignored it for an hour, then called the front desk. She apologized and told me that she would have a maintenance person look at it when they came in a 8am. As you might understand, that did not seem to satisfy me, but she insisted there was nothing else she could do. We waited until 4am, then checked out. The room was still at 79 degrees. We told her we were unhappy with our stay, she apologized and told us that sometimes these things happen. We went to Dunkin' Donuts and headed home. My wife felt terrible (in several ways) despite my reassurance that it was not her fault. We had a great evening the night before, I am very sorry that the Hardman House and their staff ruined the relaxing time we were supposed to enjoy. I will never recommend or stay there again.

Yelp
One night in this place was enough for a lifetime. Towels were worn and wratty, old out dated toilet backed up twice because the water level was not set high enough to make it work properly, sink drained very slowly, bath tub shower drained very slowly, the lounge chair if you sit in it you could not get out of it easily. Ceiling tiles outside the bathroom area were cracked and broken and barely looked like they are holding in. The breakfast food was almost as bad as the room yogurt tasted old and was set in a bowl with no ice or refrigeration to keep it cold, bagels tasted stale, cereal also tasted stale. Wound up going out for breakfast because what the hotel had for guests was terrible. I recommend this place if you are low on money because you lost a lot gambling otherwise if you can afford something better do not stay here.

Yelp
Wow. This was single-handedly the worst customer experience I've had at a hotel. First - the online price was 30% MORE than the walk-in price. Once we got there, an abrupt man behind the counter barked at my boyfriend when he inquired about adjusting the price. This guy turned out to be the OWNER! Imagine the owner if a hotel threatening a customer! When we got back to the room, the beds were so hard and uncomfortable that we were both up half the night. There are tons of options right around here that are better and cheaper. You might consider going elsewhere.

Yelp
Nice, clean, simple, centrally located. What more do we need? OK, I guess sometimes we need a bit more luxury, but this time I didn't. I'd made my reservation on Expedia and when I arrived, the clerk (who was new) couldn't find my reservation anywhere, but looked at my confirmation and made sure I got a room at the price at which I'd booked. No complaints about the room. Complimentary breakfast buffet is the usual. I appreciated it.

Yelp
I booked a room here for my sister and her kids. She said the staff was extremely friendly. The room is nice, but don't expect luxury hotel it's a good place to lay your head down and the price is affordable. The breakfast they offer was decent from what she told me. She also said when she checked in they had wine and cookies.

Yelp
Upset with the service! Given the hazardous weather conditions in my state, I was not able to travel to Nevada over the weekend. After attempting to explain the situation to your front desk, I was assured I'd be expecting a call back from the manager the next day. After waiting a day, I decided to call back to find out she was now off for the next two days..okay, so even after your usual "Sunday and Monday off" being Wednesday night, I'd expect a call by now. If you can't give me your time, I have choice but to seek out someone that will.

Yelp
After a trip to Seattle, the work trip whirlwind continued & it was on to Carson City. It was quite challenging looking for a hotel close to where we need to be but still close to civilization. When this hotel kept showing up in our searches, we decided to go for it. On the surface the hotel looks a bit old & dated, but it had all of the essentials; including complimentary wi-fi & continental breakfast. The staff on the premises were friendly but got defensive very quickly when my co-worker informed the front desk that the sower in her room wasn't working properly. For the price we paid ($65) & the amenities we received, we got a great bargain & it served the purposes of our business trip.

Yelp
If you like fresh air from outside the hotel this "Hotel" will suit you just fine. In the winter time bring extra clothes. Summer time you might as well camp out somewhere else. A/C not working!! After two hours in the room it started to warm up. Room temp is 80 deg and very humid. Bath exhaust fan not working and sounds like a lawn mower. Granted its still over 100 deg outside. I checked the A/C intake and it's so dirty the louvered intake is covered with dirt an mold, almost completely blocking any air flow. I brought it to the attn of the desk clerk, (Another guest was standing there complaining of the same problem.) so she came to the room and climbed up on a chair and had a look at it. I told her anyone in the room is going to be breathing the mold and dirt, very unhealthy! She said, all the rooms were just checked by their maintenance company and they checked everything out ok! She said the thermostats are preset and cannot be adjusted. There's nothing she can do about it! Her suggestion was, "just open the windows"! This is the end of July the whole valley is full of smoke from the fire in Yosemite and elsewhere. So either you breath moldy air from the room or smokey air from outside! If you have a laptop or phone you want to plug-in be aware their are only two receptacle's in the whole room. You'll find they are extremely overloaded and the possibility is very real you could damage anything you plug-in. Unless you go without lights, clock, TV, Etc. If you don't have allergies you probably will and end up planning a trip to your doctor after your stay! If you still plan to book a room bring your flashlight to check the intake. And appropriate clothing for that outdoor experience. Maybe you'll get lucky and get the room that was really serviced??

Yelp
Price was right. Then the nightmare began. Room lighting was bad lamps only, bed mattress from the 60's no padding just springs . After trying to sleep on this thing we gave up at 1 am in the morning. Made coffee got dressed now we're heading back to Oregon. Just as I sit down to have coffee the power goes out time to go. Had to use my cellphone flashlight to get out of the room and go down the stairs to have the front desk tell me we can move you.How about give me a good bed in the first place. Thanks but no thanks.
