Considering the popularity of this place, the food was a bit disappointing, especially given the price. Flavour-wise, they were good, but nothing really stood out. The atmosphere also felt a bit lacking in energy compared to what I expected from the photos. They serve Market Lane Coffee, and the flat white was pretty good.

Hardware Société in Melbourne is an absolute brunch masterpiece and a true five-star experience. The food is simply great, moving well beyond standard cafe fare with creative, French-inspired dishes like the legendary Baked Eggs (chorizo version is a must-try!) and the Fried Brioche—each a triumph of flavour and presentation. Equally impressive is the coffee, which is absolutely fantastic; smooth, perfectly crafted, and always served with a smile. Speaking of service, the staff are genuinely fabulous—warm, efficient, and incredibly friendly. The combination of incredible, innovative food, top-tier coffee, and truly excellent service makes every visit worthwhile. I can't recommend them enough!

Having visited the Paris venue several years ago which was amazing, I had high expectations of the Melbourne cafe and it did not disappoint. I arrived very soon after opening and it already had several full tables. Service was prompt, friendly and efficient without being overbearing. Flat white was great and came with a tiny bite sized donut, nice touch. I had the baked eggs with chorizo and it was incredibly delicious and just the right size. Full of flavour and good quality ingredients. As a solo diner it was nice to have the view of the open kitchen too. Definitely recommend!

Hardware Société in Melbourne is an excellent spot for breakfast. The ambiance is cozy and welcoming, and the coffee is consistently top-notch, smooth, rich, and perfectly balanced. My personal favorite is the Croque Madame — it’s absolutely delicious with layers of flavor and a perfect runny egg on top. Definitely one of the best I’ve had! Highly recommended if you’re looking for a quality breakfast experience in the city.

Kids loved the food. The staff were friendly and kind, and they even turned off the blasting air conditioning when the kids felt cold. The food was great, and we will definitely go back.

Unfriendly staff, narrow seats, good food, good matcha latte. Juice is just from bottle, not recommended. Don’t know why the male staff give me that BS attitude of “I’m so tired I hate my job and I don’t want to serve you” 😸seriously If you don’t want to work, go home, don’t serve your customer with this attitude. Never coming back again and would recommend everyone I know not to go.😸😸😸
