I called about a month ago to order a cake for our mother's 90th Birthday celebration (in my mind this is a very big deal... keep in mind, I called a few times earlier in the week, and couldn't get anyone to pick up the phone) So needless to say... I was glad I got a real person on the phone.
The young lady said that I could call back as time got closer, to place my order. She gave me the options for what type of cake to order... so myself and my siblings wanted to mull our choices over. A few weeks have passed...when I called yesterday, 10 days before the event, to place our order. The person on the phone said, "I'm sorry, we are too busy to make your cake. We could have it ready in about 2 weeks or after that date". I asked her if she could recommend any other specialty baker in town. She mentioned "Walmart". ( I haven't lived in this town for over 35 years...I don't know where to shop in town, but Walmart would never be my choice for recommending to an out-of-town customer looking for a specialty cake!) I immediately reached out to a few friends that used to live in Muskogee, but now live in Tulsa. They advised me to call Ludger's Bavarian Cakes in Tulsa. I visited their website...OMG.. the choices were amazing. I called immediately, they were professional, polite, and accommodating, and gave me countless options. I was SO pleased about how they took my call immediately, and were more than happy to help me.
The type of cake I ordered was more than double the price of what the Muskogee bakery offered me....but I will gladly pay double, or more, for professional service, options, and people who actually want to help.
I look forward to enjoying and sharing the cake with our 30+ guests from Ludger's Bavarian Cakes...even if I have to drive to Tulsa to get it. (and I look forward to telling everyone where the cake came from...and that it didn't come from Harmony House).
