This place is clean and safe. The pool and hot tub are well maintained and small. This is a small motel- great to stay and explore Joshua Tree Nat Park. My teen daughter wanted to camp in the park- I did not (lol)- this was a good compromise because we had desert views and felt like we could be on the trails quickly but we had comfortable beds at the end of the day.

I did a fair amount of research prior to my family’s first trip to the Joshua Tree area. Finding a place that would be central to the park and surrounding communities with some privacy for my wife and two young adult children was key. I am so glad I found Harmonic House – a property owned and managed by the Harmony Motel. The 2-bedroom house was very well appointed with nice desert tones and is very private. The back patio faces east and we were treated with an amazing sunrise our first morning. I loved the location of the property on the outskirts of 29 Palms making it convenient to explore the nearby communities of 29 Palms and Joshua Tree not to mention its proximity to two of the park entrances. The house was updated, very clean, spacious and the perfect escape for my family. Ash, the owner, was great to work with. Without question I would highly recommend spending your Joshua Tree trip at the Harmonic House.

The Harmony Hotel was a beautiful place. We were part of a large group, Hangtown Hikers. Very charming atmosphere, the rooms were very clean and comfortable. Our room had a kitchen that was complete with full sized refrigerator, stove with oven and a breakfast table. This was our first time there with this wonderful hiking group. Easy access to shopping, restaurants and many wonderful trails. |The owner was a truly wonderful woman, Ash, very caring and friendly. Staff did excellent job keeping everything neat and tidy. I would highly recommend this place for anyone. The views are amazing.

We, family of four, loved this place, clean, well equipped, lovely and quirky. Visited Joshua Tree National Park, and spent time by the pool and hot tub. Great to have our own kitchen especially as we'd been on the road for a couple of weeks. Wouldn't hesitate to come back.

The Harmony Motel is a cozy, quiet oasis in the desert. We have stayed here several times now & enjoyed the pool, hot tub & private decks. Rooms with optional fully equipped kitchens are a real joy to use. Motel is situated a short drive from Joshua Tree National Park. Ashe the manager/proprietor is always friendly & helpful.

Update: I deleted and reposted this review because the manager responded to my original review with a bunch of lies that were insulting. If she tries again, I maintain my stance that they are lies. ||This is the only hotel that I have booked through trip advisor with great reviews that I was disappointed. I stayed there with my parents who are in their mid 70s and my father has limited mobility. First when we all arrived, the manager was not friendly at all to put it kindly. She seemed put off that my 73 yr old mom booked the room without realizing that she had to put 2 guests so she not so kindly asked my mom to pay $15 for my father. Then the room was in my mom’s words “sketchy.” We stayed in the vacation rental which was adequate, but I saw my parents room and I agree with my mom’s assessment. When my mom asked for coffee and hot water for tea in the morning, the manager told her that she had not paid extra for the kitchen when she booked so it is locked. Then the hotel requests that you strip the bed when you check out. Really? I have never seen that request in any other hotel. I only write this review to give a different perspective because all I can think is most of the positive reviews are from people who stayed in the vacation rental (cabins) which is adequate but not especially nice as I mentioned or U2 fans. I wish we would have stayed somewhere else.

I really enjoyed my stay in Joshua Tree & 29 Palms. The room was clean and cute. Quiet location. The pool and Jacuzzi were fun. Great communication with the manager, very professional and friendly. Good for kids, couples, or solo travelers.

The Harmony Motel ROCKS! My 1st visit to Joshua Tree and all I can talk about is the Harmony Motel. Rooms are clean. Kitchenette has everything one could possibly need in the kitchen. Ash, the owner, was super pleasant and accommodating. She shows you to your room. Explains how certain things work. My next trip to the desert will include an extra day just to hang out at the Harmony and be nostalgic. Super reasonable prices too.

Yelp
If you want to have a real desert vibe experience, this is the place. It has minimalist vibe, clean & cute rooms with stunning view of the area. Owner Ms. Ash was super friendly & nice to us. We got a call prior to getting there, to make sure we got what we need prior to getting there. She cared about how our stay was, she wants feedback when we left too. Place has swimming pool & spa to relax under the stars or sun. We had a nice stay with them. We will stay with them again the next time we need a place to stay when we're in town! A plus, to stay if you're planning to go to JTNP cuz the entrance is less crowded. ;)

Yelp
Great hotel, pool was so fun, and the manager /owner Ash was so attentive and kind. I had a great time at 29 palms and would definitely go back. Really unique hotel with charming rooms. Huge kitchen in the room, great views surrounding the hotel. I definitely made memories there.

Yelp
Nice stay. It's a sweet little property. The owner works hard to maintain this older motel. Not a lot of options in the area outside of a few cool motels, expensive air bnb, corporate chains, and some sketchy run down sad places. I was quite happy with my choice. I'd definitely stay there again. The rooms are large and the grounds are cool. My room was very clean, the bed was comfortable. Big pool on site. My only slight issue was that the walls seem to be quite thin, so you can hear your neighbors in their rooms and the traffic on the highway. I think it's a fantastic option for an excursion to the park or a visit to the high desert.

J M.

Yelp
An oasis in the desert. Small, friendly place with a lovely, sweetly decorated courtyard and a beautiful view of the nearby peaks. Nice pool for cooling off on a hot afternoon too. I would definitely stay there again, and recommend it to anyone visiting Joshua Tree Park or just driving by.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I booked a room here last minute after stronger than normal winds ended our camping trip early. Owner was friendly and accommodating. The room was exactly what we needed with a sizable kitchen area. Charming motel, would definitely stay there again!

Yelp
We absolutely love coming here! This is our second time and it's really the best option in the area. Skip the Airbnb's - this is much better bang for your buck and a comfortable place to stay and supporting a wonderful small business. The owner Ash is very sweet and always helps us whenever we need it. The rooms have good air conditioning and comfortable for a stay with everything you need. There even is access to the hot tub and pool as well. The rooms are great. There are some rooms that have the option for access to a small kitchen and not. I have done both and it's really nice to have the flexibility. We'll get the kitchen if it's more than 1 night but have the option to save $20 if we don't want the kitchen add on. We love it! Every time we come to Joshua Tree- we always choose Harmony Motel! Highly recommend this to anyone coming forward a visit.

Yelp
The hotel room itself was decent. Clean. Kitchen was large. I like being able to park outside. If you like very hard beds, the place is for you. I couldn't sleep well because I have some joint problems and the bed was way too hard. The manager was a bit off putting when she was telling us about the room. I felt scolded before we had even gotten the key. There are probably better places to stay in Twentynine Palms but in a pinch I think it would be okay.

Amy C.

Yelp
Cute and comfortable rooms that manage to stay cool even in August, thanks to the blackout curtains, A/C and ceiling fan. The staff is friendly and helpful. Location is convenient to both Joshua Tree National Park and Amboy Crater, plus the great local restaurants in Twentynine Palms. (I opted out of including a kitchen with my room since there are so many locally-owned options.)

Yelp
Please be kind. Owning a small business is no easy feat. Im an entrepreneur and I get it! This is not a hotel chain, Harmony Motel is a woman owned, small, local business! Go Ash! You're doing an amazing job, and we appreciate you! Our family is on road trip & traveling through Joshua Tree and on our way to Sedona, AZ. I found this motel from an app that has a great rating system. This app gives me a sense of security that we won't end up on at janky place & end up with a negative experience. I also look up on Yelp and filter through the reviews before making my decision to book. Our family are experienced travelers. We've stayed in $20 hotel in Vietnam to staying in 5 stars luxury resorts. So you have an idea of our perspective of value. We arrived to Joshua Tree at 3pm, and checked in. The reception staff was an Angel. She was very sweet and helpful. The first thing she mentioned was for us to check out "Joshua Tree Rock Shop N Imports" - side review, this place was awesome! We got a bunch of beautiful crystals & jewelry. High recommend for you to check out The Rock Shop! Ok back to Harmony Motel - The checking in process was easy breezy. We're traveling with our five years old, and he had a great time in the pool. The pool was clean, didn't feel like there was a bunch of chemical in it, and the view of the mountain background was just gorgeous. Pool was awesome. The room, we got room 1 - it was clean, enough space for our family, shower worked fine, AC worked reallllly well - it got really cold at night time with the AC on at 60. Let's see... there's a cute table with two chairs outside our room, it was nice to sit outside to watch the sunrise this morning. Wow the energy in Joshua Tree is on another level. As an intuitive healer, I'm very sensitive to energy & I couldn't sleep all night because of the energy that was coming through during my sleep. I can see why spiritual seekers & outdoor nature people like to visit Joshua Tree. My husband brought up a good point that getting a motel in LA is diff than staying in a motel in Joshua Tree. You get our point. I got the pleasure to meet Ash at 7am in the morning when we checked out. Grateful for the encounter because I got to personally thank her for our great stay and sharing my feedback with her. I honestly think we got great value for what we paid for & what we received out of our stay. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Super magical place! Perfect, welcoming respite from the road and the bustle of day-to-day life. I found exactly what I needed here: quiet, peace of mind, gorgeous desert vistas, an amazing meditation space, fast WiFi, full kitchen, and extremely kind and attentive staff (Ash, the owner, is amazing, helpful, and easy to reach if you have any questions during the stay). I stayed in Harmony House for two nights which is a gorgeous stand alone adorably furnished 2 bedroom home adjacent to the main Motel where the office and pool are located; the house has a mostly panoramic desert and mountain view from the shaded back patio which is also fully furnished. I booked last minute bc I'm more spontaneous and less of a planner but lemme tell you I was LUCKY to get to stay at and discover this spot! I loved the big house (what a treat!) but would also be happy to return and stay at one of the other cabins or individual rooms. Definitely come here for peace and retreat rather than the spots more clustered in the center of town. I was here with my baby and felt safe at the property and any supplies we needed was available at the shops just down the way. You will want to remember to bring your own coffee along if you want to brew a cup in the equipped makers in the morning rather than driving to grab a cup. I hope to make my stay at Harmony Motel a regular annual event when needing a quiet place to tune into the desert.

Linda B.

Yelp
I have stayed at the Harmony Motel twice this year. The staff are wonderful, the rooms large and clean and my room included a fully equipped kitchen. It is a lovely respite to get away for a few days and visit Joshua Tree National Park. Very convenient location to the Park. It is a lovely taste of the area. Next trip back I will definitely book here again.

Yelp
My wife and I booked this charming-looking desert motel for our 20th anniversary, and it exceeded all our expectations. We stayed in The Quail Room which has a kitchen and dining area and it was just perfect. We stayed for three nights and brought our own food, and the kitchen had everything we needed; full-size stove and oven, pots/pans/utensils/etc. The room was so wonderfully comfortable, quaint and cozy, and the entire property is such a wonderful oasis in the desert. We spent our days hiking around Joshua Tree (this motel is in a fantastic spot that's close to a lot of great things in the park) and our evenings in this very comfortable and charming room. We're planning to visit again ASAP! Highly recommended.

Yelp
Hospitality is a key factor in the hotel business. This place has none to spare. We went for a retreat in twentynine palms and needed to stay a night in the area afterwards. This place looked reasonable so we got our room ahead of time, we selected a room that had an attached kitchen (this is important for later). When we were on our way, my mother came to meet us out here, we told her to meet us at the hotel and we would see what arrangement we can make when we get there. My mother was parked for all of five minutes before the woman who runs it was in her face telling her she couldn't be there and had to leave. So we called to see if we could see what options we had as far as making things work out better. The same woman answered the phone. We asked could an additional person stay the night? "No" that was it, no discussion, just no. So my mom was getting ready to drive back to arizona, six hours away. Then we called back and said can we get an additional room? And the woman immediately rang us up for for a second room. That has two beds. If we had been able to discuss it we obviously would have gotten the two beds. They weren't booked up and had several open rooms, as far a I could tell there was one other guest there. So we got both rooms, and spent the night. When we got there, we spoke to my mom, who said the woman had rudely told her to inform the woman of which bed she slept in so that they wouldn't have to clean the other one. When we went to get the key and check in, nobody was around. We waited for about a half hour before the woman showed up and gruffly gave us our key. After checking in, the woman came up to me and told me that because we got the second room, she had complimented us the kitchen. Which was surprising because unless she's a wizard, and has some powers that we were unaware of, the kitchen is attached to the specific room we had booked already. So that was basically just a lie. In the morning we had some work come in that we had to take care of and asked if we could extend our room at all. "No" so we rushed and did what what we could. We left, and couldn't find a place to upload a large file so we went back and parked in the lot to try and quickly upload the file. Within five minutes the woman came back out and told us we had to leave. I told her we haven't even turned off the car. She scowled and and stared at me, so I just walked away. Were not sure but it seemed like she may have turned the signal off after that because the file stopped loading. So... Not a great experience overall.

Yelp
I love this place! Me and my boyfriend traveled down to Joshua Tree from the Sacramento area to explore the park and hike in the desert. Ash, the motel host was so accommodating, kind, and helpful our whole stay! We stayed in the Quail room, complete with a kitchenette, which was such a great addition for us as we cooked during our trip (there aren't a lot of places to eat in the twenty nine palms/joshua tree area) this place is a hidden gem, very cute, quaint, and nestled perfectly between the Joshua tree and 29 palms entrance to the park. It only took us about 15 minutes to get to the park entrance every day we went! I highly recommend the harmony over any Airbnb or hotel in the area. Not only is it conveniently located, but it has a great vibe and is very aesthetically pleasing. The pool is super nice too! I'd give it 6 stars if I could, plus, it's cost effective!

Jeanette F.

Yelp
I would give the Harmony Hotel minus five stars if I could. RUN! Don't walk and don't book a stay here! The owner, Ash, is not only rude and nasty, but a liar to boot. We booked our stay for 2 nights and they were confirmed. We were having lunch about a half hour away when I get a call from her stating that she is confirming our stay for one night. Oh, boy was I upset! I wouldn't have driven all the way to Joshua Tree to just spend the night. I told her that we were confirmed and booked for 2 nights. I don't remember now what her lame excuse was, but she said she would try and find another place to stay. Anyway, the night we did stay was awful! We booked a room with a kitchen. Everything in the kitchen was gross and dirty. We had brought coffee and some things for breakfast, but we couldn't wait to get out of there. The bathroom was disgusting and dirty! I'm so glad that she made a mistake and that we didn't have to stay there another night! Don't believe the lies that she is leaving on other peoples reviews. They are not lying about how awful this place is!

Kristie L.

Yelp
I've booked reservations 4 months ago (Aug), was contacted and asked if my confirmed reservation could be adjusted due to an accidental double booking (early Oct). Alternative accommodations were recommended which I agreed to and gained a second confirmation by email. One week before my family's arrival (late Oct), I'm informed of an issue which now renders our accommodations unavailable. Not sure what kind of business requires a credit card at the time of reservation and then cancels on the confirmed customer multiple times. As out-of-towners, with a special needs son, now having to scramble and pay premium price a week before arriving to Joshua Tree, this is really unacceptable.
google avatar

Yelp
I'm a fan of non-chain motels, and this place has a lot of character. Great value for the price - and because it's small, you feel like you're in an AirBnB instead of a motel. Will definitely be back.
google avatar

Matt M.

Yelp
This is a pretty no-fuss place to stay. Service could have been friendlier - she was very straightforward and didn't smile at all. That being said, the room is decent, and the bathroom was really small. Beds were comfy enough, and there's AC, which made a summer stay a lot more manageable! There are only a few parking spots here, but there should be enough for all tenants. And it's only 10-15min away from the entrance to Joshua Tree! There is a common area where there's a fridge/freezer and they keep it pretty stocked with ice, which is great!
google avatar

Briana E.

Yelp
If you are looking for a place to stay, look elsewhere. This place is not it. My friends and I were unknowingly running an hour late to check-in. Harmony inn advertises that they are open 24/7 but they aren't. The hotel left me a voicemail but I didn't get it because I was on the road driving from Utah. I got the message at 4:00 and called back at 7:00 to let them know I would be checking in an hour late. When I called the front desk to let them know we were running an hour behind, the lady at the front desk asked me to cancel. Cancelation fees are 50% of your total booking. She wanted to charge me $60 and to find somewhere new to stay last minute. I apologized multiple times, I was kind and asked if there was anyway they could accommodate us by leaving us a key or staying an extra hour (I would of happily paid more) but she rudely told me that she wouldn't. She left us stranded. Harmony inn clearly isn't in the business of accommodating and doesn't have good customer service. I know that she doesn't care because she told me not to book at Harmony inn again. I won't and you shouldn't either. You won't be cared for here.

Lily V.

Yelp
The owner, Ash, was very sweet. The rooms were very comfortable and the pool/hot tub were nice. Would stay again!

Xenia S.

Yelp
I've stayed here twice now, cute little motel off the highway. The first room I stayed in had a little kitchenette which was nice. Very cool views of the mountains behind the motel, I'm sure I'll be back again
google avatar

Yelp
Loving this spot. Small motel with big rooms and kitchenette. This place makes you feel like you're in a different time. The service is amazing. The receptionist, whom I think is he owner was super helpful and had tons of knowledgeable about where to hike and the history of the area. If you're in this area, definitely stay here.
google avatar

Simone W.

Yelp
Support small business! This place is sweet and I recommend a night or two here if you're hiking Joshua Tree. Affordable, clean, unique and artsy on the very EDGE of town. Beds were soft but I like a soft bed. Bathroom/shower is very tiny - but it was good enough for those low-maintenance. Customer care is super.

Ellen L.

Yelp
We are 4 guests who stayed at the Harmonic House for two nights and found our accommodations to be delightful and beyond our expectations. We appreciated the cleanliness of the entire house, the well equipped kitchen, comfortable outdoor patio and beautiful views. Ash was professional and accommodating. We've stayed at the Harmony Motel several times now (prior were in the rooms) and always have experienced a pleasant stay. I'm sure we'll be booking again in the future. Recommended!

Yelp
My girlfriend and I stayed here last night, and everything about it was exceptional. The new girl at the front desk was very friendly, and accommodated us despite getting there a bit early. The rooms are fairly basic, but very clean and comfortable. With only 7 or so units, it was a quiet environment, seemingly occupied mostly by people on their way to/from Joshua Tree Natl Park. They have a nice pool and Jacuzzi area with a covered table and chairs where we enjoyed a salad, then the Jacuzzi in the desert wind. Also a cozy little 'common area' with stove, microwave, fridge, and ice in the freezer for guests. They also had a computer in there - possibly for use by guests. They have a bunch of plastic cups for poolside use, and hot (strong) coffee in the morning. Met the owner on our way out, she was nice and thanked us for staying, asked if everything was acceptable. I'd say so!

Yelp
Stayed 3 nights in the double bed w kitchen. Price was comparable to Country Inn. Pros Spacious kitchen, well equipped including cookware, dinnerware, cutlery, and even olive oil (we forgot ours). Spacious shower w plenty of hot water. Nice pool and hot tub w plenty of seating. Very strong coffee in the common room. Outdoor seating w table outside each room. Picture worthy sign (U2 can stay at Joshua Tree!). This place has character. It's not your typical cookie-cutter traveler motel. We had room "0". Floor was tile w movable carpets. Bathroom vanity was cramped/short on space. Heater was loud in the middle of night, but can be avoided by turning down thermostat. Owner was courteous and helpful. Most importantly, it was clean and the wifi works! Would return again.

Yelp
the owner of the business started to yell as i described how disgusting the room was. we notified management as we noticed the mold and blood in the restroom. lol she was even fighting with the cable company for nonpayment lol lol i was the one that remained as calm as possible as the owner was yelling at me to get out without even listening to my valid concern of blood ,mold and muddy footprints in bathroom . Our stomachs turned in disgust when we saw the condition of bathroom ... there was no way we used it i originally went in asking for another room ..... this is when she lost her shit I understand that you will make up your side of the story to To lure innocent victims into your disgusting Petri dish of a business I stand by my Original post ... stay away from bates motel

Yelp
Do not recommend. Had my wallet stolen even though doors were locked ? Something is not right there. The road noise is awful and the walls are paper thin. The owner posting a reply to me when she wouldn't even talk to me about it....what a joke. Of course there was no forced entry they have keys to clean the rooms when I left the door was locked when I returned it was unlocked and they were there.

Minhan D.

Yelp
15-20 minutes away from the National Park, what more can you ask for? Hospitality was great and room was nice and clean. Rooms can come with kitchenette, but we rented a room that had two beds with a bathroom. Really quaint nice place to stay! There's a hot tub area and common room kitchen for people to store food or use the microwave also, but we didn't stay at the place for too long. If you're looking for a no fuss place to stay while you romp around the park, definitely think about this place! Close to the grocery store and gas as well!

Jessica Q.

Yelp
Do not stay here!!!! Checked in last night, window would not lock. I contacted owner and she brought me a screw thing see attached pics To insert in the window but it was absolutely not a lock and if someone wanted to break in they could.

Yelp
I have nothing bad to say about my stay here. We stayed two nights and didn't spend a whole lot of time here, as we were hiking Joshua Tree & photographing. Our room was nice and clean. We didn't really get to use the amenities as we left early in the morning and returned late at night. For the most part it was very quiet, there are 7 rooms and we were in 5. The shower was a little scary since there was no lack in water pressure.

Yelp
I was super pleased to have found this place! It was Quiet and comfortable with an amazing view. The owner was personable and attentive. My room was comfortable and very clean. I really enjoyed the coffee from my patio while taking in the sunrise and I look forward to using the pool and hot tub next time I visit. I'd definitely stay here again!

Yelp
I stayed at Harmony Motel on SUCH a hot day (109!) and it was such a beautiful, clean, calm respite from the heat. The pool was spotless and had a beautiful view, and had a hot tub too. (Though obviously the hot tub was not on my to-do list in the Mojave summer!) The rooms were clean, and the AC was sufficient. No outlets for hair dryer that I could see in the bathroom, but overall everything was great. The rooms all look out towards the mountains of the national park, and the fences around the property didn't obscure that gorgeous view. Owner was friendly and helpful.
google avatar

Yelp
Would definitely stay here again! First time, four nights. The owner is sincere and gregarious. She upgraded our room, because we booked for more than three nights, and without our having to ask. She also provided a thorough tour of the grounds: the homey common area replete with cooking sundries and free bags of ice; the office area with U2 nostalgia that adorned the walls; and the pool and hot tub area partitioned from view by alternating sections of corrugated metal and rustic wood, the tops of which were cut to create a seamless wavelike effect. The kitchenette room was well-stocked and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay: pots and pans, a microwave, gas stove, dish soap, paper towels, a coffeemaker... everything! The groundskeeper was quiet and reserved but cheerfully greeted us and took care of everything we needed (which wasn't much). Overall, between the warm sun, cool evening breeze, closely followed by a galactic array of heavenly bodies and shooting stars, you won't be disappointed. Note: When she encourages you to keep your door closed, heed her advice. I couldn't imagine sleeping with a desert iguana, hare, or mourning dove that might be looking for a roommate!

Yelp
I had such a lovely experience here. It was only to crash for the night to go hiking the next day in the park. Perfect location. We went to Pappie and Harriets for dinner and a show the crossroads for breakfast. It was a bit too cold for the pool and the jacuzzi wasn't piping hot... The room is bare bones- not fancy- but very comfortable and clean. It's a charming motel, with character and good vibes! The owner is a lovely woman. There was a fridge in a main kitchen that I didn't know about and a cute little computer room for guests. I think it should be a location for a movie big time. I loved my stay and will be back!

Yelp
Under the stars in the warm desert night, soaking in the hot tub and striking up fascinating conversations with other hotel guests and the owner, was a dream. The motel lives up to its moniker with a quaint rustic old western charm against the backdrop of the stunning canvass that is Joshua Tree. Great spot for adventurous souls! Thank you for hosting us! -the two girls from San Francisco

Yelp
What a great place to rest your tired toes after a long day of being out in Joshua Tree climbing! My friend and I stayed here over the weekend and the place was great. When I made my reservation the week prior, the woman who answered asked around what time we would arrive. I guestimated 5 p.m. Well, Friday traffic was crazier than ever, so by the time 5 p.m. rolled around, we were still two hours away! We called to let her know that we would be late, and she also called to check up on us. We were extremely excited to finally arrive at the motel after the longest drive ever....a four-hour drive to J.T./Twentynine Palms from Echo Park! The lady at the reception desk was very sweet and nice. She showed us the community kitchen and let us know that she turns the coffee on at 7 a.m., but if we needed the kitchen earlier she would leave us the key. Our room was perfect for two: two twin beds, tile floor and a TV. The bathroom was small but clean. It had what looked like a porch light above the sink. The shower; however, was dark (but clean). If you thought about it long enough your imagination might hear the "eek, eek, eek" of the "Psycho" soundtrack. After driving past all the other motels and hotels around that Twentynine Palms route, my friend and I decided that we couldn't have picked a better place. Staying at the Harmony Motel made our weekend getaway that much more adventurous. The decor, history and price ($79/night) beats the cookie-cutter Best Western or Holiday Inn (which seemed to be the only "chain" hotels in the area) any day. On top of all that, we (two women) felt safe there. If you're headed out to Joshua Tree and are planning to forgo camping, I highly recommended you turn in at Harmony Motel.

Yelp
i grew up camping, stayed in roadside motels, and five star resorts. my husband refuses to camp anymore. so i agreed to not staying outdoors on the condition that where ever we stayed i could order extra pillows and room service. harmony motel is the only exception to that rule. its small with well tended grounds that match the landscape. super cute pool. jacuzzi. and just a handful of rooms. rooms have a kitchen option which is stocked with all the pans, dishes, cutlery, coffee pot, etc. small fridge with seperate freezer, stove w oven, perfect to bring groceries (stater bros is just down the street) and cook for yourself. each room has a patio, adjoining with the next room, not crowded though, with a its own small sturdy table and two chairs to relax. coffee in the am, bite in the evening. its private enough that you feel like its your own place. almost forgot, there is also a little library room. with coffee already made in the am. and of course there is the proprietress Ash who is kind, unobstrusive while always available to help, and every time i look forward to seeing her. this is our go to spot. ps. they also have a couple cute little houses that face the mountains on the back of the property listed on air bnb. but if you book directly thru Ash @ harmony, you can save some fees. note: i wouldn't trust the negative reviews about the people who work here. im sure its more of a reflection of them and not ash and her team. I've stayed here a fair amount of times over the past 10+ years and have never had an issue with anyone.

Yelp
Stayed here for the second time on a road trip with my daughter. What a beautiful little place it still is :-) I'll be back this fall when it isn't 113 degrees out! Thank the gods for a great little sparkling pool!

Yelp
I used to come out to 29 Palms / JT at least three times a year. Every time I would come stay here with my wife. This was where I proposed to her, under the moonlight in the rock garden. I love this place. Ash is an amazing hostess. The prices are always fair. The rooms are always clean. Every room is a little bit different (giving it a personal flair). Most rooms have a kitchen, which is great for someone like me that comes up to the area to stay weeks at a time. Add in the history of the motel itself with U2, etc. and this is, hands-down, the only place in the Hi-Desert to stay. The only reason you aren't staying here is because it's already booked!

Yelp
My family of four recently stayed here for spring break and were really happy with the accommodations. We have two young children and the room felt comfortable with all of us in it, plus having a little kitchen made a huge difference in terms of comfort. The pool and courtyard were nice features and the owner and staff were all very friendly and kind. The only cons where that the beds were a little small and we had a hard time regulating the temperature in the room since there was big swings in the weather while we were there, but really minor stuff. Very close to Joshua Tree NP entrance and easy access to the town of Joshua Tree and 29 Palms. Would stay here again. Thanks Ash and staff!

Yelp
The Harmony was recommended by a friend. We couldn't have been happier with the motel. Our room was nice. We picked a room with a kitchen. It had all the utensils, pots and dishes we needed to cook our meals. We spent some time at the pool which was very clean and refreshing. It was also very nice to relax on the lounge chairs and listen to the buzz of the beetles after an afternoon of hiking. The motel was also a quick few minute drive to Joshua Tree National Park. Overall we would definitely return. This will be our go to place when we return to Joshua Tree.

Yelp
Great lil motel in an amazingly gorgeous locale. I had made reservations at the Harmony Motel to come stay during the Valentines/President's Day holiday weekend about five weeks in advance, and as excited as I was to come check out this little piece of Joshua Tree history, my stay at Harmony managed to exceed those lofty expectations. The manager was extremely nice when checking us in, going to the trouble of showing us around the place and getting us acquainted with the amenities. The decor, both inside the rooms and in the common areas, is insanely cute and quaint, with attention paid to keeping the old school charm of the place while also exhibiting some of the artistic, out-there charm that Joshua Tree is known for. There is a common area, which contains a little dining table, a coffee machine, microwave, fridge, etc., as well as a computer room and a little shrine which pays homage to the Harmony Motel's connection to rock and roll history and the band U2. Then there is the pool and spa, which are kept in great condition and feature a pretty stunning view, on top of that. The actual room was perfect, and kept in line with the retro vibe of the motel. Most importantly, the rooms were large, clean and comfy. Nothing to complain about whatsoever. If you're like me, and enjoy retro/vintage style to go along with the mind blowing natural wonders of the Joshua Tree area, then you really can't go wrong staying at Harmony Motel. I had an amazing stay there, and would definitely come back.

Yelp
My mother and I had a wonderful stay at this motel. We arrived late, after 9 pm for check-in and the owner was reachable even though the office was closed. We had booked a room without a refrigerator and upon learning so, the owner suggested a room upgrade with a kitchen that suited our needs perfectly. She also gave us a late checkout unprompted since we got in so late. The room was spacious, clean, quiet and comfortable. We were delighted to find a kidney shaped swim pool with lounge chairs and beach towels awaited us in the morning. The owner was friendly, communicative and abides by strict Covid cleaning policies. We had such a great experience, we extended our stay. It was also in close proximity to the town of Joshua Tree, the National park and grocery stores. For all of these reasons, I highly recommend this affordable and comfortable motel for both brief or extended stays in this area. It's character far surpasses any corporate chain and the owner, Ash, is a friendly and attentive host.

Yelp
Great motel! I typically don't stay at motels but it was Valentines Day/Presidents day weekend and everything was book solid. All I wanted was a comfortable and affordable place stay with a nice pool near Joshua tree and we found the perfect spot!! It almost felt like a B&B. SO glad they don't use the hideous generic motel like comforters- gross. Those working at the motel were very accommodating and friendly. We had the pool to ourselves the next day so we got to lay out relax and then headed to the park. Perfection. Twentynine palms is only 30 mins from the entrance near the visitor center. I heard the motel closer to the entrance ran at $300/night which is pretty ridiculous when we only paid $85. My advice would be to bring a floaty (pool is not heated and was freezing- it's Feb), some wine, and relax! Note: The one thing that got to me was that there were frames above the bed but the middle one was missing. I'm OCD about symmetry so that was hard. Also kitchen had a frame on the ground. I feel like it would take 2 mins to hang and make a huge difference.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I had a lovely time here during our one night stay. Great atmosphere in the desert location. Watched the stars from the hot tub that we had all to ourselves. Bed was comfortable. Would stay here again.

Yelp
Wonderful, low-key place to stay. Staff was kind, hospitable and accommodating (thank you Cheryl and Emanuel for singing the jams). Our room was clean, comfortable and the kitchenette was great. There was also a beautiful view. Looking forward to staying here next time we visit.

Yelp
This week I stayed at Harmony Motel for the third time. It's now my choice for lodging in the Joshua Tree - Twentynine Palms basin. The motel is comfortable and homey, not at all corporate. One distinguishing factor is that you can't drive up and park right in front of your room; you take your baggage into your room via the courtyard, and this is a good thing, because there are no slamming car doors outside your room late at night or early in the morning. Another distinguishing factor is the kind and responsible manager, Ash, who treats guests like guests, and not the way a lot of small motels in Twentynine Palms treat you, like potential vandals and thieves. The courtyard contains a swimming pool and hot tub (open til 10 pm). From the little rise at the upper corner of the property, you get a nice view of the basin. There's little glamorous about the Harmony Motel. But everything works, and everything is comfortable. You feel at home. Each room contains a patio where you can relax in the courtyard. The sun sets behind the hotel, and the courtyard is shady for the latter part of the afternoon, which is a plus in hot weather. The hotel fills up during most weekends. You should have a reservation if you plan to arrive on the weekend. (Responding to one of the negative reviews here: This is not a "cool" place. It doesn't try to be design-y or postmodern. It is not trying to capture the Mad Men era and it's not ironic. It's just a comfortable motel. There are other places you can stay to be ironic.) The motel is located on the east end of Twenetynine Palms, which is spread out along highway 62 from east to west and represents the last town for 100 miles. After Twentynine Palms it's pretty much uninterrupted desert to the morth or the east, without so much as a gas station. So enjoy your stay and gas up before you leave.

Yelp
The place is a mirage. It looks beautiful, but when you get close you'll see that the owner is unhelpful and unfriendly. If I could back in time I'd tell U2 not to stay there.
