Absolutely love this place. If you want to go on an affordable date, stop in here and share some scones with a pot of tea. We ducked in here on a rainy day and our noses were welcomed with the warming scent of tea. The staff is very helpful and will help you determine which is right for you. Once you know, get a pot and take a seat. Their best tea is by far Paris. They even make an herbal version is you are worried about caffeine. Go stop by for a visit.

I visited Harney & Sons Tea Shop and had a really fun experience exploring their extensive tea collection. They offer a variety of impressive teas, with each person allowed one sample. Overall, a solid spot for any tea lover looking to discover new favorites.

Google
AMAZING TEA SHOP. We, me and my friends, walked in this tea shop, and were dazzled immediately by the floor to ceiling wall of tea. It felt like stepping into another world. The staff were so friendly and knowledgeable, and walked us through how everything worked. We loved the free tea sample, where you were allowed to choose any tea you wanted to try. The samples were not just shot size, but an actual tea cup sample size which pleasantly surprised us. The bags that came with your purchase (5 cents) are very well designed and sturdy, not to mention very beautiful. THE ATMOSPHERE WAS BEAUTIFUL, it was calm and warm and felt like I was welcome to ask questions about anything to the staff. For example, I casually had a conversation with an employee about their shoes, they were very nice (shoes and the employee ).

If you're a tea lover, you must visit this shop! They have a tasting bar, a tea cafe, large selection of loose and tea sachets in their fabulous tins, plus lots of other tea related gifts. Great place to sit and relax, grab a scone, and chat!

The low rating isn’t about the decor—this place is stunning, like a dream. You’ll see from my pictures just how magical it looks. I only wish they were scratch-and-sniff because the aroma of all the teas was incredible. We could have stayed forever. Unfortunately, the rating reflects how we were treated, and it left us never wanting to return. We arrived around 6:15 PM and were captivated by everything—the teas, the decor, the beautiful cups and teapots. We wandered to the back and decided to ask for a tea flight, having just seen two women enjoying one and having a great time. The barista informed us that they closed at 6:30 and had already stopped sit-down service. No problem! He was helpful, asking what we were looking for and guiding us to the right section. Once we found our item, we didn’t want to linger past closing time, so we headed to the register. That’s when things took a turn. The two women we had seen earlier were still sitting, chatting, and enjoying more tea—clearly not being rushed out. Meanwhile, as we approached the register, the previously friendly staff became noticeably different. The person ringing us up didn’t greet us—no “Hi,” no “Did you find everything okay?”—just silence. It felt cold and dismissive, especially compared to how engaged they had been just moments before. To make it worse, another staff member joined in, chatting casually about the song playing, further emphasizing how uninterested they were in connecting with us. The shift in energy was undeniable. It left such a bad taste that I put down the cups I had been considering buying. The only reason we purchased anything at all was because we genuinely love the tea and didn’t want to wait for shipping. It’s a shame because this place has so much potential, but that interaction was a no.

Google
Always a fun place with new varieties. I enjoy meeting fellow tea enthusiasts. It's pricey though. For loose leaf tea in Manhattan, this is still the best option for price and selection that I have found. Updated April 2025 with pics: I enjoyed the renovated tea shop. It has more tables. One connoisseur was really helpful, even though he had to stay by the counter. When I explained that I didn't want to lose my table, he came over for a quick second. The other -much younger one- rushed my friend and gave suggestions based on their preferences, not my friend's. The tone was pushy and unhelpful/borderline rude. When my friend went to the counter to order, that same young person was there, same rushed rude experience. That was the only time I experienced that. I apologized on behalf of Harney &Sons to my friend, a first timer.

Google
A beautiful and thoughtful store experience. Plenty of gifts and tra to buy, and a sample bar in the front. The back is where you can order your beverage, and there's a seating area there, too. Enjoy!

Google
love!! we tried i think four teas and the first free tea was so clutch 🙏 i love how big the menu is so that there is always something new to sip every time we come! also ppl working here are super entertaining. there was no more seating tho, so we just kinda stood like it was a bar.

Yelp
When I was planning my trip, I racked my brain trying to think of places I wanted to visit. After randomly checking my kitchen cabinet, I was reminded of the Harney & Sons location in SoHo! For years, I've been ordering their tea online but not only have prices gone up as they will, now I have to order a certain amount to get free shipping. Obviously a trip to their shop eliminates all of that. What made me want to check them out even more was that they have a little tea shop in the back of the store where one can sit and relax for a while. I went through their menu online and found numerous teas I wanted to try, but I knew I had to narrow it down to one. Upon entering, I was greeted by one of the guys behind the tea bar area on the left, and my choice tea I wanted to purchase was easy to find on the display wall to the right. At that bar area, you could sample tea, but I think it was only the tea that they had for the day so I'm unsure if you can select your own. When I went to make the purchase, the girl working didn't seem as though she wanted to be there, but the transaction was thankfully a simple one. Made my way back to the counter where I decided on a cup of the white Ceylon Vintage Silver Tips (this is a specialty tea, therefore costs a couple dollars more) and a pair of vanilla scones with cream and strawberry preserves. At the time, there were only two patrons so I took a seat at the farthest table at the wall. A hot teacup and the scones were brought out shortly and by now, the seating area was filling up. The tea was on the lighter side, and I'm glad I tried it here; as it's not something I would buy a bag of. Scones are always messy, but this was worth it; the cream and preserves would be perfect with any of their hot tea selections. This was a wonderful way to pass the afternoon; I can see why so many would want to come and enjoy the space, whether with someone or solo. I already know what tea I want to select for my next visit.

Yelp
Harney & Sons SoHo has been there for a while. It's a cafe and introduces you to their flavorful teas. My daughter reminded me recently that we have been and need to return. She spotted the tins of tea at CVS and got me started buying all the flavors. When you find a flavor you really love you can go to the website and order large quantities for a reasonable price. Right now I've got about 200 tea bags of various flavors all Harney's! I've been sharing with my local friends and they love them. Today I'm having the Vanilla. I like the simple ingredients and the delicious taste that doesn't need sweeteners! Check for Harney and Sons in your local Target store. They have a wide variety in store and online. Also check out their website and learn about their company and products. Finally come to SoHo and invite me for teas and pastries. It's a great atmosphere.

Yelp
Such a nice spot to try different teas, they have a massive menu and you can even try one cup of tea for free. Beautiful shop with a cafe in the back. Friendly people working there too

Yelp
This place was a great place to sit back and relax while you're walking your way through NYC. We stumbled into this place while we were around shopping within the area, and we were not disappointed. We didn't know what to order, so the barista directed us into choosing something that would be to our liking. We were not disappointed. The drinks we ordered were delicious. My husband got the matcha and I got the turmeric tea. Not too strong tasting, very balanced. Seating within the area was a bit small and tight, but we made due. All in all, we enjoyed our visit. Whenever we're in the area, we hope to go again.

Yelp
If you're a tea fanatic, visit this place in SoHo! Their wall of tea is quite astonishing. They have 3 free tea samples, and you're welcomed to try a tea of your choice also prior to your purchase. This would be a great gift to your friends or family. In addition, they also offer a flight of teas, similar to a mini omakase, which could be a unique date experience. Will definitely come back to try their flight of teas.

Yelp
Great tea shop with an extensive selection of teas and a sitting area in the back of the store. The scones that they have are also terrific.

Yelp
Great ambiance. You can do tea tastings, 2 teas of the moment, then each person can choose 1 tea of your flavor. All free. While the tea brews, you can go shopping in the store. Friendly and professional service! Tons of tea varieties and flavors, also candles, tea sets, and more.

Yelp
Herbs, Spices, Teas all natural, all things I like as a health conscious person. A beautiful tea room with a quaint sitting area in the back with a tea bar. Cute...smart concept! The staff were knowledgeable & helpful. Cinnamon Spice Tea - I wanted a winter flavor that gives me Christmas vibes and that I would use sweetener with. To my lovely surprise it's sweet and so potent there's no need for honey! Healthier for me! Hemp Moringa Tea - they were out of the most popular tea for this time of year given viruses so this was said to be second in line. As a singer this one was recommended as both a drinkable & steamable...it tastes interesting. I don't exactly drink tea for taste as much as I do it's healing properties. Give them a try...Happy Shopping...pinkies up! Go, enjoy!!!

Yelp
Fun, cute place for tea lovers. They have a large variety of teas as well as a small cafe in the back. There is also a restroom. The tea price are decent. They offer one free tasting of any tea per person. You can also purchase a flight tasting of several preset teas. In the cafe, you can purchase a full cup of any teas they offer. Service is friendly.

Yelp
Such a cute little tea shop!!! The store itself is spacious and filled with a large variety of teas, alongside some smaller items like cookies, honey, jams, and decor pieces (the selection reminded me somewhat of a farmers market, which I loved). The small dining area in the back is a gem - there's a quaint divide between the browsing area of the shop and the dining area, which I think is great. The menu is extensive with some really great, fun options like the tea flights. They currently have four categories for the flights, and each flight comes with four teas (worth mentioning that it's only $10.50 and can easily be split between two people). My friend and I tried the Floral Flight, which came with jasmine, butterfly pea, rose, and chamomile tea, and I was a big fan of all four! The teas were super fragrant but the taste was light and subtle. They even have simple syrup, agave, and honey at the counter so you can adjust as needed. I really appreciated that the service here was also friendly and knowledgable - it tied in perfectly to an already great experience! I'm looking forward to visiting again :)

Yelp
Harney & Sons offers an unparalleled tea experience, and their Jasmine Pearl Green Tea is a perfect example of why. The delicate fragrance and silky smooth taste create an incredibly refreshing experience with each sip. It's the ideal tea for unwinding after a long, busy day. I'm also impressed by their commitment to quality, which shines through in every blend. The variety they offer, especially with unique collections like the Historic Royal Palaces range, makes them stand out. I'm eager to explore more of their exceptional offerings!

Yelp
My new go to for tea, they have some many great options and the scones were so good. The staff was super friendly and over the space felt great:

Yelp
Great experience. They give you one tasting for free and we tried the jasmine which was wondefull. Will come again.

Yelp
Looking for an afternoon tea experience but not interested in paying astronomical prices or ruining your appetite? Then look no further! This place has a large selection of teas, tasty snacks, and reasonable prices. Focus is on the tea unlike other afternoon tea experiences. They have several flights where you can sample 4 teas. I got the "Des-Tea-Nation" flight. It was beautifully presented and I was surprised by how well they captured the essence of each city. I added the scones (lavender and white chocolate) and they were delicious! Can't wait to return and try some more teas. I wish there were more places like this!

Yelp
A quiet place to have some tea and scones on a weekday afternoon. It was just what I need after a stressful week. Got the vanilla scones and a cup of Hao Ya 'A' tea. Each cup is brewed to order, so it took maybe 5 minutes for me to receive it. The scones were warmed. They weren't the best scones I've had, but they weren't terrible. There's a crispy exterior because of the sugar, and the inside is pretty fluffy. However, they are flat and somewhat small. The strawberry preserves are already sweet, so I didn't think the sugar coating on the scone was necessary. The clotted cream was stiffer than the ones I've typically had. The tea was a perfect pairing to the scones to balance the sweetness. I went with no milk, which was good for me. However, it may be bitter for someone who's not used to drinking plain tea. It's a perfect location to relax and destress with a cup of tea. I'd come back for the tea whenever I need to unwind and take a breather.

Yelp
This is solely based on the unbelievably poor service at this location. The tea itself is top shelf and I'm a massive fan and have upwards up 20 or more flavors of their loose leaf teas. The location is quite pretty and has a lovely selection of their teas and a nice collection of tea pots and cups etc. All of that being said, the level of customer care in this location makes me doubt that the owners have ever set foot in it. It's crazy that they take such care in all aspects of their business only to see it severely undercut by the attitude of the staff. I have to question if there is in fact a manager here and if there is what exactly is he/she/they managing? This has to be the nastiest most condescending collection of people ever assembled under one roof. If you ask any question at all you are virtually guaranteed to get both a sigh and an eye roll and then an exasperated response mumbled under their breath. If you're not into talking to people and answering questions, perhaps you shouldn't be working in the service industry. It's sad because it's likely the people that run this company who clearly care about the quality of their products aren't aware of how poorly they are being represented at this store. Tea 4 stars Service 0 stars overall 2 stars and that's generous.
google avatar

Ting Z.

Yelp
Such a cool ambience and they have a HUGE selection of teas. You can try as many samples of their showcased teas as you want (they showcase 3 daily) and then you get one additional free sample of your choice. After that it's $3 per sample. It's a bit pricey but I think it's worth it and they package teas beautifully for you.
google avatar

Chelsea L.

Yelp
I really love this tea brand and was pleasantly surprised to see there's a physical store in NYC! They have so many teas available for free tasting! It's not a sip of tea, but a full cup of freshly brewed tea. I didn't use the Yelp check in offer and they just offered it to everyone. The second and other tea tastings afterward are $3 each. You can get a full flight with gray by going to the cafe but you need to wait for a spot to open. They also have a variety of teacups, teapots, and saucers for purchase. I didn't buy loose leaf or any of the tin cans, but I was able to buy the tea tasting set for $25 (tray, tea cup, and tea bowl). Pretty good deal I'd say and they include free tea samples as well! I had the earl grey with jasmine (murder on the orient express). Definitely aromatic, pleasantly bitter, and leaves a nice aftertaste. One associate was unhelpful in explaining how the process works while another gave us the info but didn't really have a nice attitude. At least he wasn't rude. So, it seems that service in general isn't all jolly but they would help you if you needed it. Would visit again!

Yelp
1 star off as pricing can be more competitive. I had an excellent time shopping here and chatting with the tea master! The array of tea can be confusing, but as long as you know what you like, Harney and Sons tea is very good.

Yelp
The store is fancy, with an upscale vibe. I was very excited for this experience, but it fell short due to dismissive and rustaff who we interacted with. The customer service was atrocious--the reason why my rating is so low. When you spend this much on a luxury product, you expect to be treated with respect and accommodation. Our experience here was anything but. A selection of pricey goodies is available for purchase (sweets and various tea accompaniments). If you buy tea by weight, it will be slightly cheaper than if you buy tea in a pre-packaged, nicely looking tin container. Buy by weight--the packaging still looks presentable for a gift. One caveat--there is a 4oz purchase minimum if you buy tea by weight. That was a huge turn off for me, as I wanted to purchase a wide array of teas in small quantities. No prices are indicated on teas, so as not to scare you with shocking numbers. One tea I bought cost $18 for 4oz minimum. Definitely not what I wanted to spend for just one tea. Other teas cost slightly less, around $12 per 4 oz minimum. Prepare to spend a pretty penny in this store. Tip: do not be intimidated by fancy atmosphere and ask staff for prices before purchasing anything, so you know exactly how much your credit card will suffer. You get to try one tea for free. After that, you have to pay $3 for each additional tasting. You could also do a "tea flight fancy" and sample multiple teas for a much lower price. The staff member just assumed that customers knew of that option, and did not inform us until it was too late, saying "oh wow, you should've tried that". Thanks for nothing! A male African American staffer made multiple mistakes when checking out my order. I repeated the information thrice. He was still in a rush to count things that I did not order. Had to explain to him twice, that I did not order what he charged me for. A long process of refunding ensued. He made another mistake. When a female staffer came to help, the male staffer still could not get my order straight. That experience was beyond frustrating. Why was everyone in such a rush to charge me for things I did not order? The male staffer looked and talked in an annoyed tone as if I was not spending a great deal and was just wasting his time for fun. Where is basic respect and customer service? Why should I leave the store frustrated and upset after spending so much money here? Definitely not an experience I'll want to remember or share with my friends & family. If you check in on Yelp, you get a free tea sample, which usually costs $3. Make sure to claim it!

Yelp
I've been ordering Harney and Sons teas for quite a few years and I was surprised to find they had a store in NYC. I was visiting this past summer and had a great experience. They have a small dining area in the back to sit and enjoy a tea flight and/or baked goods. When I went I ordered the cream tea (Victorian London Fog), unfortunately they were out of Devonshire Cream for the scones but they were still quite tasty! The service in the dining area was very good, even though there were only about 4-6 employees throughout the entire store, they had a couple that kept an eye on the dining area. For the complimentary tasting, I tried the Hot Apple Spice, which was heavenly. Naturally sweet and great on a cool, crisp fall or winter day. Would definitely come back the next time I'm in NYC!
google avatar

Mohima M.

Yelp
The ambiance was warm cozy and chill. The staff definitely knew their stuff about the tea. One member answered many of my questions about what he would recommend and was so nice! They offered suggestions to the customers and it was clear they were knowledgeable about their products! I did a complimentary tasting for the genmaicha which is a green tea with toasted rice. It was delicious and I bought a 4 oz container for 10$. It's a great deal considering tea bags are 8$ for less than two ounces. My friend tried the hot cinnamon which had a punch! They also offered her another cup of regular cinnamon tea they already had brewed since she was interested in that first. They have so many different kinds of teas to sample, and purchase. They also have tea pots, cups, diff toppings and honey, chocolate and lots of other stuff. I'd totally recommend this place and I'll visit again!

Yelp
This is not about this particular shop in SoHo but us instead about Harney and Sons as a business. I am a long time fan of Harney with a particular affection for their slightly sweetened bottled green tea. However, it seems they are always having problems meeting demand. I think a few years ago they could not get glass (perhaps that was COVID related) and now it seems they are having problems with their bottling operation, when I queried them on the phone. One cannot easily find the bottled tea on their website or others. They supposedly have a "tropical" green tea coming out that also has some fiber and pineapple juice in it. Can't get that either. I would love to see Harney as a business solve these problems.

Caroline N.

Yelp
The cafe at Harney and Sons is open again. I was so excited to be able to have scones with jam and clotted cream. Once I found out I can dine in, I decided to stay and have the scones and ordered indigo punch tea - Apple pieces, rose hips, butterfly pea flower, lemon peel, lemongrass, raspberry flavors and honey flavor. Unfortunately, there was no clotted cream available on this day. I received 2 scones with 2 raspberry jams which was delicious though I was wishing for clotted cream. Be aware: The tea was extremely hot so take your time. Afterwards, you can shop for teas and related items or try some more tea at the tea bar. If you need some tea, make sure to stop by.

Choi M.

Yelp
I went here without much expectation. But It changed my mind. This is the place for someone who never enjoyed the tea or even for tea lovers. so excited to see all different types of tea that they owned, and you can pick whichever you want, and the price was totally worth it compared to other regular tea shops!
google avatar

Abhishek L.

Yelp
Cute tea place down in SoHo - had a great sampling menu that we were able to try several flights off of. Not a ton of seating available and mostly self service, so keep that in mind when visiting with a party.

Julia C.

Yelp
It is always awesome to come here. Today tried a green tea with coconut- refreshing and taking home a try on Royal English breakfast- suppose to be more caffeine then regular organic breakfast
google avatar

Karen Y.

Yelp
Popped in to look for some teas and there is such a plethora of options. Everything is nicely displayed with good lighting and great descriptions. Besides tea, there is also tea ware like tea sets (pots/cups) and mugs. Had a really great selection of different teas and also different amounts for purchase. Prices were pretty reasonable around $8-$12. Definitely will come again and purchase more teas.
google avatar

Yelp
This is my favorite tea house in NYC! Harney & Sons Soho is such a fun and beautiful tea boutique. I love the whole aesthetics of the store and the fact that they have a tea tasting counter and a separate tea/coffee shop on the back of the store. In addition to teas, the store also offers a nice selection of desserts and afternoon tea sets for you to dine in. The store also sells a small collection of tea pots, tea cups and some homeward including city candles. Loving this tea shop and all their services.
google avatar

Yelp
I've been coming here since I was a kid and always loved picking out specialty teas. Was in nyc for the weekend and popped in to grab an iced tea to go. There was a miserable, attitude-filled and nasty barista with long hair and a piss personality. We asked for an Arnold Palmer and was told "no" with an attitude that was so unnecessary. I felt like I was on an episode of the twilight zone. My friend and I had our jaws on the floor. We ended up buying an iced tea and a lemonade and then mixed it ourselves. We asked for another cup and he gave us an eye roll and didn't even respond - just threw the cup at us. I know New Yorkers can have an attitude, but this was just beyond any normal interaction. Especially for a tea store!!
google avatar

Amanda D.

Yelp
I absolutely love coming here. I am a huge tea person, I have a cup everyday and drink so many different types of tea, coming here is always a great experience. They have so many different teas to explore, every trip in you can ask for one of the teas to sample. They brew it right there and in 3-5 mins you can taste it for yourself. The people working are always very knowledgeable, pleasant and can suggest teas for you if your not sure what you like. I usually only buy loose tea by weight, I love that you can get purchase exactly the amount you want. Try the Hot Cinnamon Spice in the free tea variety if you like fall spiced teas. Honestly my favorite tea in the world.
google avatar

Ori F.

Yelp
Great place to have an experience. Before I accidentally stumbled upon this place, I didn't know places like this existed in the US. The tea is absolutely amazing, every single one --and they have a book full of selections. You can sample any flavor at the tea bar too. When you're in the shop you, you actually see the scones being freshly baked. The reason this isn't a 5 is because it really is a whole experience, not a place you can just pop in and order a tea from (you can but it ends up taking a sec and it's not really built for that type of transaction).
google avatar

Sawako Y.

Yelp
Harney & Sons used to have a small cafe in the back of the store. Now, they're available for take-out only, but the quality is still as high as if you were dining in. The teas are reasonably priced between $3 - $5.50+ and even with take-out, they brew each tea in a separate pot and ask what type of milk you'd like with your lattes. I ordered the hot Matcha Latte, which is on the pricier side at $5.50+, but they make the matcha at the counter and serve in a decently sized cup. Since they make them one by one, it does take a little time, but is worth the wait. The staff was friendly, too. If you're looking for a nice cup of tea to go, I would highly recommend stopping by.

Yelp
What a great place to find unique teas. Any tea lovers out there. This place is spot on!!! You can find a wide variety of teas I mean an entire WALL like library of teas from all over the world. The staff is very acknowledgeable and friendly. We got some green tea from Japan and tried the oolong tea! Loved the experience. It's always a good idea to enjoy some tea!!!

Yelp
We need more such tea places across the city. Beautiful grand interiors and a large variety of teas to pick from. They allow you to taste before you make a purchase. There is a cute small sit down area where you can hang and enjoy your tea. I liked their Tokyo tea with flavors of toasted sesame with caramel. I would love to return at leisure to spend a few hours trying different teas with a good book in hand.

Yelp
We stepped into Harney & sons tea shop after reading some good reviews and being fans of good tea ourselves. There were so many mixes but most of them came with added natural flavors which was kind of a bummer. Nevertheless the mixes were quite interesting and definitely will make a good cup of tea. One of the staff members helped us with some recommendations on herbal teas and we ended up buying 3 mixes. Things to note in this shop are that the minimum to purchase any tea is 4 oz. They do give a complimentary tasting of any tea with a purchase. Buying loose tea at the counter instead of the packaged tins is cheaper by at least $2-3. They also have a tea bar at the back.

Yelp
Assuming the little cafe is open, make it a point to come in for a cup of tea and their scone snack. It's two little vanilla scones with clotted cream and jam. Not getting the snack haunts me to this day. The tea was spot on. I believe I went with a dragon pearl jasmine then went up to the sales counter later and bought some to take home. After you've had your afternoon tea, look around at all you can buy. I ended up making a cute little gift set for a friend's birthday. I also picked up the boba tea set for my teenage goddaughter. The staff there is super friendly, very knowledgeable, professional yet personable. I was helped by multiple people including Max, Charlie, and Mayo. They offer for nominal cost very beautiful gift wrapping and reasonable shipping. Finally, they have a public restroom for customers. It's clean and maintained.

Yelp
Probably one of the best tea selections that I've come across anywhere. I've spent too much time browsing their website and scoping out different teas. On a side note, I'd probably give their website five stars too. It's super user friendly and very informative. I was also able to score a great deal on chamomile at $20 for a pound. Anyways, back to the retail store. I finally made the pilgrimage on a weekday and was super impressed. Very neat layout. The staff was accommodating, friendly, and knowledgeable. Top notch service. They have a cafe in the back and allowed me to sample a tea while I was there. I've been very happy with my tea purchases so far.

Yelp
Whenever I'm searching for tea, I know exactly where to go: Harney & Sons. Not only are they a third-generation family business, they carry an unparalleled selection of fine tea, primarily sourced from countries in Eastern and Southern Asia. Their inventory is so extensive that if you're looking for a specific kind of tea and Harney doesn't have it, it probably doesn't exist. I'm typically not too adventurous, mostly gravitating towards varieties of green and chai. I enjoy the Japanese Sencha green tea specifically, obtained from the central Shizuoka province. Their Chai blend is also a favorite, featuring black tea from India, cardamom seeds, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and natural cardamom and vanilla flavors. Speaking of cinnamon, while it probably isn't so popular with seasoned tea drinkers, Hot Cinnamon Spice is a personal indulgence every fall. It's a sugar-free blend of black teas, three types of cinnamon, orange peel, and sweet cloves, and pairs particularly well with apple cider donuts and other autumnal treats. The staff at the Harney & Sons in SoHo is always helpful and willing to answer any questions. They are very knowledgeable about the different characteristics that separate certain teas from others. Check out the cafe and stay for a while; the shop has the look and feel of an old bookstore, except that instead of books, the walls are lined with teas from across the globe.

Yelp
This store is grand. I felt like I was walking into a famous landmark building that once was a library. The wall of teas, look like it once was filled with books from long ago. They have a huge, I mean "HUGE" selection of teas here. I was so intrigued by how great this store looked and by everything they had in it. They had candles, teapots, teacups, honey, etc. I even saw some things that would make great gifts for a tea lover such as myself. (I hear they have a yearly tea club.) So you can sample the teas by looking at a list of their selections, you smell the tea blend you want, and if you like you can pay $2.00 to take home a week supply of that sample, up to five samples per visit. You get a free one with a yelp check-in. They also have some brewed samples that you can actually drink, as well. They have a small cafe in the back of the store where you can sit down and enjoy some of their tea, or speciality drinks hot or cold, along with some scones or pastries. You could get some work done on your laptop, read a great book, just think coffee shop environment, but a relaxing one with very lil noise. You can also buy packaged tea bags or sachets, or bottled ice teas, they have a whole variety of those too. If you are a tea lover like myself then you have to make a visit here. The prices are reasonable and with their variety of teas, you could never get bored. I will be back, believe that.

Yelp
Probably the best tea store I've been to in NYC. I haven't been for a few years (probably 2018/2019), but the store is exactly how I remembered it. They have a beautiful selection of teas (a wall of all their different types of teas- my favorite is the Paris) and right by the door they actually have some amazing candles. Across from the wall of teas they have a tea bar where you can order by the cup, and at the back of the store they have a small seating area. They normally do a tea sampling, but when I went in they said they weren't doing it that day (short staffed or something), but that wasn't well advertised. If you plan to do that, make sure to call the store in advance and double check they're still doing it that day.

Yelp
Five stars for their teas (ordered many times on line)... One star for the small, univiting cafe area in the back of the store. Uncomfortable seating, stale baked goods, and spacey staff (who forgot to bring our food after serving the tea). For a company with such high quality, surprised this is their brick and mortar outlet in the city.

Yelp
Every time we go over to one of our friend's house, they offer us Harney & Sons cinnamon tea with added cinnamon. Ever since we have been a fan and it just happens that cinnamon tea is the majority favorite. On my mother-daughter trip, we decided to take a break from walking to grab tea and sweets here. Upon entering, they have the teas to purchase on the right and tea tasting area on the left. We had missed the tea tasting section but should check it out since they give you a free tasting so that you can check out the flavor before actually purchasing a whole cups worth. Added bonus, if you check in on yelp, they give you a free sample for you to take home. In the back, they have the cafe where you check out your souvenirs, drinks, and sweets. I got the cinnamon tea as usual and based on yelp review, vanilla scones. I love scones but not all scones are delicious. The ones here were, however. It was smaller than what I'm used to but has the best creamy, flaky consistency. I liked the jam that came along and finished it seconds. So yeah, this was the perfect resting spot. And it has a clean bathroom to use as well.

Yelp
This is still one of my favorite tea places to buy loose leaf teas and sachets. You can ask to try a tea sampling from their huge wall of tea containers and they will brew it for you. The back has a place to sit if you want an afternoon tea. If you check in yelp you can get a free take home sample. You can't beat that! It helps me decide if I want to try a new tea next time since there is some many varieties of tea there. My favorite is Genmaicha but there is a huge selection to choose from.

Yelp
So happy to see them open for business this summer, And that I got to come in and pick up all my tees for the winter! Though now through plexiglass, they're still generously offering a sample of tea when you come in. The shop still has so many cute tea accessories, pots, cups, and everything else tea related. They are no longer able to sell loose teas by weight, but everything in tins are still available with plenty of delicious blends, herbal, organic, and lovely staples that you want to keep in your cabinet. Definitely some of the most reasonable prices around - half a lb of organic rooibos for $13.50? An once of organic Matcha from Japan for $14? Yes please!!! Definitely going to try to drink more tea this fall and winter so I can buy more and help keep them in business, these guys need to stick around!

Yelp
Always love going to Harneys to get their tea. My most recent visit this past weekend was a disappointment thou. It seems slowly slowly they are changing up the environment and policies. Now they don't do free tea tasting of your choice anymore. That was one of the main reasons to go to the store front. To see if I want to buy the tea - try before I buy. So that is no longer a thing it seems. Secondly, you can only try their teas of the day. Which is good I guess, still get to try something but what's with all the restrictions? When Harney senior was still alive, the business was a lot better. They had Harney fest and also had tea tastings for free. At least if you check in to Yelp, you can still take home a sample of tea leaves to go. But probably over time they might take this away too. Please don't! Anyways, even the smelling of the tea canister has been removed and no longer allowed. If we can't smell the tea and tea notes then essentially Harney Corporation will be losing sales and customers. Just saying. I hope David's tea haven't changed any of their policies. Haven't been there since the pandemic. If I end up going to one of their stores, I will update with a review. Btw, as a side note, I do love David's Tea, among other tea shops.
