Bought a ton of my dad’s old vinyls. Really exciting to listen with them to some of the rare old stuff. Credit offered was really generous. Love the art shows rotating with good local artists. Sometimes do album release shows that are so sweet.

Google
I’m a vinyl addict who frequents lots of record stores in multiple states. Many are really wonderful, but Harvest is my favorite. Some reasons: 1. The vast selection of both new and used across diverse genres. 2. The online spreadsheet that lists what new records are in stock. 3. The friendly staff. 4. You often hear the sound of a record cleaner coming from a back room. That means they’re selling clean vinyl, not just throwing whatever comes in out into the bins. 5. In-store turntables with headphones so you can see for yourself what used records sound like… Harvest checks off all my boxes. I spent so much money in there yesterday they gave me a free t-shirt. 🙂

Google
This is a nice store. They had a lot of nice records and other forms of music. Everything seems so reasonably priced. I came in to sell a few records and everyone was extremely nice and they even gave us sticker for myself and my son as we were leaving. Definitely recommend

Evan C.

Google
This is an awesome store! Their selection is vast and phenomenal and the people who were working there were nice and appreciated that I came to stop by during my trip to Asheville. I highly recommend it to any music lover!

Google
The staff is so helpful! I asked them to order me a vinyl via instagram and they had it within a few days! Such a nice place! Will buy my records from them from now on!

Google
Always friendly and communicative staff that actually gets back to you. Amazing walls of collectible albums. New arrivals are always stacked with temptations. They answer their phone and respond on sm. Great shop.

Google
This place is my favorite record store of all-time. They have great customer service with a highly organized and eclectic record selection. I know I’ve found my record store home when they have a dedicated experimental and electronic music section. One downside is that my wallet always feels the pain when I go here.

Google
I just edited this to spell Annelise’s name correctly. Harvest Records is my favorite place in Asheville! This review was written in Spring 2023 but every word is still true! They are all still INCREDIBLE people!! If you’re ever in Asheville, NC- make sure you head to @harvestrecordsavl ! In January, I went there with very little knowledge about what I needed and Annelise shared some knowledge with me about the used turntables they had available. I ended up going with the Numark TT-1700. It’s my first one and I LOVE it. Every time I go to Harvest Records, every single person working there is so lovely, helpful, and kind. I went to the store yesterday to ask them about a hundred questions because today was going to be my first Record Store Day. They were (as always) patient, helpful, and kind. I got really anxious last night and ended up getting there at 9PM because I REALLY wanted the Em Beihold record and knew they only had one copy. This morning, the Harvest Records folks brought free coffee to everyone waiting in line. I don’t drink coffee, so they were kind enough to heat me up some water in their coffee maker for hot cocoa. I haven’t slept in about 26 hours so I’m not sure exactly how long before 10AM (their opening time today) it was, but Annelise came to the door and invited me to come into the store alone. They all knew by that point that I had been there since 9PM and really wanted Egg in the Backseat, so they told me exactly where it was. Then they asked what else I was looking for and went and got those items for me and brought them to me. It was the most special shopping experience I have ever had in my life. I’ve been into a few other record stores and the employees are never nearly as kind. I know every time I walk in the door at Harvest Records that I will be treated with dignity and respect, even when I don’t have a lot of knowledge about what I’m asking about. As a neurodivergent person with PTSD and multiple other diagnoses that can make even simple tasks daunting, the Harvest folks’ kindness and patience is always very appreciated. Harvest Records is the BEST and you should absolutely give them your business! If I could give them a million stars, I would.

Yelp
Harvest Records has a good selection of new, and used Vinyls. Also the vinyls are not overpriced and offers plastic sleeves on all used LPs. A good selections of Led Zeppelin, Elvis, and the Stones vinyls. All rock, country, metallic/hard rock and R& B genres are organized in sections. Also they have a smaller section of used CDs. I could have spent more time but had another appointment.

Yelp
Fantastic store! This place is one of the best in terms of selection, in my opinion. There is also a great balance of CDs and vinyl, and everything is reasonably priced. The staff was quite friendly too. Overall a great experience

Yelp
Great selection with choices for everyone. Great pricing as well, some of the best in the area and all around. Lots of space to browse through the crates! Super nice staff too!

Yelp
We always like to stop in record stores in different towns to see their selection. Harvest Records had a good selection of records. They were well organized and the staff were knowledgeable. The selections includes all genres and from various decades. Their prices are very reasonable.

Yelp
Absolutely love this place! This is my favorite record store. Every record I've purchased is in great condition, if not better. Good customer service and good vibe, good layout of the store, and great prices for the used records! I usually purchase at least 4-5 records per visit. I will continue being a customer for a long time!

Yelp
Nice shop, kind staff, good music. Solid selection of vinyl and CDs to satisfy your musical senses. Well done, Harvest.

Yelp
I went to 2 other record stores in Asheville on my day trip. And by far Harvest Records was the stand out. It was clean and very well organized. I loved their selection of new vinyl. They had a decent selection of new hip hop where I found an Eric B and Rakim album that I had been searching for a long time. The staff was also super cool and honest. I asked for the new Lana Del Rey album and the clerk told me it was expensive, he was right. I appreciated his honesty. If you are trying to decide what record store to go to in Asheville I would say start here.
google avatar

Andrew D.

Yelp
The kind of record store where they engage their customers. For example how are you today, is there some thing you are looking for ? If you listen to this you should definitely check out that. Like real homey and stuff. While in the Asheville area this is one not to be missed.

Yelp
Great selection of new, high end jazz records. Probably tied with Horizon Records in Greenville, SC in terms of quality...Horizon seemingly has a bit more quality used jazz records but Harvest has several Blue Note Tone Poet and Acoustic Sounds records I haven't seen anywhere (maybe Asheville is too hip for jazz these days lol!). Friendly staff, great prices, hard to beat. Best store in the area by far.
google avatar

German M.

Yelp
Great selection of LP, CDs, cassettes including new, used and $2 used. Not all LPs are available but you may request any special album at the counter at no cost.
google avatar

Yelp
Pretty chill and relaxing inside while looking through records. Guy at the register was helpful with trying to find records I couldn't find myself. Great little shop!
google avatar

Mark C.

Yelp
Excellent selection of used and new records, reasonably priced, and catalogued well. Easy to reach bins for browsing, which is great for those of you who don't like to kneel. Mood music selection is varied, interesting, and not too loud. Staff is attentive, courteous and pleasant. I highly recommend making this store a regular stop in you quest for vinyl. They also have a pretty decent inventory of CD's. Parking can be a challenge, but worth the effort.

Yelp
I go to as many record stores as I can when in new areas. Sometimes they are overpriced, sometimes they don't have any interesting finds, and sometimes the vibe is just off. None of that was true for Harvest Records. Vibes certainly matter in a record store, and the employees were so kind, generous, and helpful on both occasions that I shopped there over my short trip. Prices were super competitive, and there's a good selection of both new and used popular titles AND obscure titles. If I lived here, I would be shopping at Harvest daily. Really a wonderful store. I don't say that lightly. Thanks again from TX :).

Yelp
Just bought a home in Asheville and was hoping for a good record store. Mapped out 5 that had potential and did a deep dive in each one. Harvest Records was the best. The selection of new and used LPs, used cassettes and CDs is outstanding. All genres represented. They carry the best stuff. Also have nice accessories like LP slip mat for your turntable, record cleaning brush, etc. There is even a listening station to try out that used LP you are considering. Super friendly and classy service from Mark and Matt. I would easily rank this as not only the best in Asheville, but among the best I've visited from L.A to Chicago to Philly. AWESOME.

Yelp
Smaller record store with a pretty good selection. We were able to find a few for a reasonable price.

Yelp
Disclaimer: ** I'm not a record enthusiast. My husband has recently acquired this new hobby and I'm writing this review on his/our experience*** We were visiting Asheville for a few days and my husband decided he wanted to search for some records to his collection. Thanks to Google and several blogs we learned that Harvest Records was the place to go to. Here's a recap of our experience and what you should know! - Must have appointment! We learned this when we only had 2 days left in Asheville. Due to COVID shopping in-store is appointment based only and all slots were booked for the next 5 days. My husband decided to call the store and they said he could come in if someone did not shop for their whole 1 hr appointment. Sure enough we received confirmation that a customer was in and out in 5 minutes so we could shop the remainder of the hour. By the time we arrived we only had 30 minutes but that's all the time my husband needed. - Great selection! The shop is very well organized and that's coming from someone like me. They had areas and bins clearly labeled "new used", "new", "used", and of course all the genres you could imagine. - Staff was very knowledgeable! Obviously I didn't have any questions but my husband had plenty. They were able to help him find the records he was looking for and advise him on a proper cleaning kit to dust off old records. They even offered to place an order for records they didn't have in stock. Very helpful! - Also fun fact to point out if you spend more that $150 you get a free t-shirt! My husband was very happy with his new t-shirt HA! Overall, we were thrilled with our experience at Harvest Records. How does the saying go- "Happy husband, happy life"? Haha :)

Yelp
We hit every record shop we can when visiting a new town. As a fellow record shop owner, we always love exploring new shops. Some shops really blow us away and Harvest is certainly one of those shops. Impressive new and used selection and they have a bunch of great music-related books for sale. Harvest has officially joined the ranks of shops we will always go out of our way to visit. Thanks for the awesome James Brown instrumental album!!!
google avatar

Doug P.

Yelp
Best selection I've ever seen. Spot on, super friendly and easy-going. I'd recommend to anyone....plus a free t-shirt if you spend a certain amount (pro tip...you will). Solid shop.
google avatar

Sarah S.

Yelp
Such a great record store full of great finds! We happened to come on their anniversary sale and it was packed with people! Kinda fun to see so many people interested in records. We snagged some unique vinyls and got them at a great price. Would love to spend hours in here browsing everything they have to offer.
google avatar

Marina M.

Yelp
Great record shop with a vast selection of items in every genre. If they don't have it, they're able to order it for you which is a pretty cool option. Prices of new records were relatively high. I get it, really I do, but $40 for one album isn't something I can always justify. I ended up getting 2 for the same price. Used records are reasonably priced. Definitely worth stopping in and taking a look!
google avatar

Angela P.

Yelp
My go to locally owned and operated record store whenever I am in WNC. Harvest records has a large selection of classic and modern vinyl, tapes and CDs all moderately priced. The staff is highly knowledgable and if an item is not in stock they will gladly order it at no extra cost.
google avatar

Lindsay M.

Yelp
Harvest Records has the best customer service I've ever experienced! I happened to overhear that my husband special ordered a record SIX MONTHS AGO but wasn't able to pick it up. When I called Harvest Records not only did they still have the record but they offered to deliver it. And...they didn't just deliver it...they dropped it off with my husband and managed to keep the whole thing a secret! He had no idea who was dropping off the package and because it had my name on it he left it for me to open. Nice work guys!! He is so happy with his new tunes and you have gained a customer for life!
google avatar

Jim M.

Yelp
Appointment only. What a joke. Don't bother stopping by. I'll find another place. Area is disappointing at best

Yelp
This place just expanded...literally today. I have not been to see the new size, but my first visit found me overwhelmed with how much incredible music they carried. For the indie rocker, the Americana lover, or bluegrass lover, you will find A LOT to purchase. They have a lot of great records as well. The highest praise I can give this place is that it reminds me of my beloved Wuxtry Records in Athens, Georgia.

Paul R.

Yelp
It was my last day in Asheville (26 May) and I decided to (possibly) pick up a few albums at the local spots. Voltage Records opened an hour later than Harvest Records so I went to Harvest and was impressed with the organization, cleanliness and record selection! At the time the mask mandate was still in effect (no big deal) and I started at Jazz and ended up in Funk and picked up some gems at a "reasonable" price. I bought Saxophone Colossus, Jon Batiste's new (amazing) record, EWF, George Howard, and a few from the "Used" section: Roberta and Donny, Alex Bugnon. At checkout we negotiated down the price of one record (which speaks to their good business acumen) and ended up enjoying the Harvest Record experience. They even have a set up in the back to listen to music (turntables and couches--groovy!) Good job folks!
google avatar

Sara H.

Yelp
We could have spent hours in this store. The selection was superb and we were able to find a vinyl we had been searching for, for a long time. They welcomed our dog, which was also very nice! We will definitely be back next time we are in Asheville!
google avatar

Chris A.

Yelp
I'm into fairly obscure music, so Harvest Records was a very pleasant surprise. The selection is very diverse and eclectic, and they often carry newer releases (and some older ones) in different formats. My sole complaint is the "cash-only" policy they have for tickets to local shows, but that's a pretty small thing.
google avatar

Kipper S.

Yelp
Is your local record store lacking in natural sunlight? Do you ever feel judged by your browsing habits? Have you ever been afraid to inquire as to the availability of an album by an artist you love, because it may be seen as uncool? Well at Harvest Records you can put all these worries to rest. Harvest is a gorgeous store with massive windows that let in a fantastic amount of light. I don't know why, but I find that I bring up light in a lot of my reviews, it matters a lot to me. This record store doesn't feel like a cave. Even their basement, which is awesome and you must check out, especially during the basement sales, feels more like a hidden area of a museum than a prison. In an age where most people are purchasing their music in ethereal formats, Harvest takes pride in providing knowledgable service, a helping hand, and a keen interest in curating some of the best CD's, LP's, and DVD's from the past and present. It's this devotion that makes this place special, and keeps it buzzing with activity. Harvest is also a fantastic bulletin board for upcoming shows in the area, you can find out about who's coming through town weeks before hand, and here's the best part... Harvest sells tickets to shows from a wide variety of venues around town. Parking in this area on Haywood can be challenging. It's right by The Walk and Image 420 and a couple of other shops, and finding somewhere on the street to leave your car can take a few minutes. Be calm. It will be worth it.
google avatar

Paige K.

Yelp
There's two record stores right next to each other in downtown Asheville and yet it's still worth it to drive to West Asheville solely for a trip to Harvest Records. Seriously, do it! I found Bikini Kill in metal/punk where it rightly deserves to be, huge bonus points for that. Everyone working was super friendly and nice, way nicer than ever expected from a record store. The selections were great and the space is laid out really well. Will definitely be back on my next AVL trip
google avatar

John S.

Yelp
I feel extremely lucky to have a record store this great where I live. Harvest has been setting the bar pretty high these past few years, with a constantly rotating display of reasonably-priced, quality used records from every genre, a really beautiful and welcoming store atmosphere with vibrant local art on the wall, and most importantly, a staff that goes out of their way to assist you regardless of what your taste in music is. There are two headphone listening stations where you can spin any used record, which really helps narrow your selections. Sometimes I'll go in there and grab a handful of records I've never heard of out of the New Used section, put on the headphones and look up info about various artists on Allmusic's website while I listen. Probably my favorite way to spend a Saturday afternoon, and I always leave with some new discoveries. Matt and Mark have created an institution with Harvest, booking shows all over town in partnership with various venues, bringing acts from all over the world that sometimes you can't believe are playing in our beloved little mountain city. Truly, they have helped put Asheville on the musical map in a way that is second only to the Orange Peel. They also stock a nice selection of CDs and DVDs, but I go only for the vinyl. The only problem with this place is I have to drag myself out of there before I end up dropping too much money!
google avatar

Andrew P.

Yelp
This is totally one of the best record stores on the Eastern Seaboard. Defintely the best in Asheville. I am into experimental and older stuff, and had lots to chew on here. The staff is totally down to earth and actually cared, and that goes a long way. I bought a Robbie Basho reissue and a Arrington de Dionyso (used) and found both to be fairly priced. There were some great records in the experimental section that I couldn't justify buying but was happy to see them there. (Nurse with Wound, Current 93, etc). Lots of indie, punk and classic rock too.
google avatar

Darren T.

Yelp
If you only have 1 stop for records in Asheville ignore the other down town shops as they were a waste of time and effort...go here....prices were fair and selection was excellent! Great jazz records and tons of new stuff This is THE record store in AVL to visit if you don't have time to waste.
google avatar

Sam B.

Yelp
Harvest Records was my favorite record shop in Asheville while on my East coast record buying extravaganza. It's a good distance from the town center but it has a well-organized collection and an extremely friendly staff. I loved the atmosphere here. They carry new and used records, a lot of new indie and rock and even had a small experimental selection. In the first room they carry CDs and books. One of the most delightful things about the store is the little area devoted to the Newsworthy Drawing Club, a group that draws peculiar news events and then collects them all in a hardbound book every year. If I weren't spending so much on vinyl this trip, I certainly would have purchased a copy.
google avatar

Sam P.

Yelp
This is a cool spot. I purchased both of my records for under $20 a piece, which is pretty rare for most record stores today. I came across multiple records in their catalog that most of the shops back home in FL never carry, including a Scarface record that I was able to pick up. Their punk section could be a little bigger tho. My only gripe, and it's petty, but when I walked in the guy at the counter looked at me and then didn't say a word. I wasn't expecting a handy or anything, just maybe a what's up or something. W/e tho, shop is still cool.
google avatar

Travis B.

Yelp
Great selection and prices! I went to several record stores on a weekend trip to Asheville and this was the best shop. Love how they have a completely separate section for "Used Rock 90's-current" instead of mixing it all in with the classic rock. Will definitely make it a point to stop back in the next time we visit Asheville.
google avatar

Brett S.

Yelp
Hey hey sup guys!!! Me and the missus rolled up looking to get sorted out with some good used music and I bought a CD and bae thought about getting a ET record but she didn't. I wish she had though because it had a cool poster of ET hanging out with Michael Jackson and I wanted to hang it up in our apartment but she said no and to be honest she can be so hurtful sometimes and for really no good reason. Anyway I liked this store but I didn't like the CD I got too much but it was cheap. Ok

R J.

Yelp
Great record store. Tons of vinyl, and reasonably priced. And my favorite thing is that it's spacious, and well laid out. I'm a vinyl junkie, and I always go to record stores whenever I travel, and this was one of the best I've been to.
google avatar

Allison M.

Yelp
Love this cute west Asheville place. They have a great selection of folk and rock. The workers are pretty nonchalant; they are not in your face but also not super helpful. The prices are okay- more expensive than online but it is nicer to be able to see a selection.

Jay M.

Yelp
Not just the best record store in Asheville, but the best record store in the entire Southeast. Well organized with everything from classics to currents, overground to obscurities. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Basement sales are worth the line to score some dirt cheap goodies.
google avatar

Ron H.

Yelp
This place has everything for the novice and advanced collectors. I'd heard a lot of great things about this place and my expectations were all met. Super staff and a vinyl collection full of new stuff, classics and the hard to find. In addition, every used piece of vinyl was in excellent condition (no beat up copies were found on my dig). Spoke briefly with Mark and he was really cool. Spent a couple of hours in Harvest, which could easily have been the entire day. Can't wait to visit Asheville again to dig through the great collection.

Shirley C.

Yelp
This shop is perfect for those looking for new releases but they have a great used record selection as well. Excellent metal selection; quality of their used records was good (graded and priced appropriately). Clean and organized with a friendly staff. Picked up 7 records and a book and can't wait to get home and listen. Will stop back next time we're in town!

Chip C.

Yelp
Wow. Small, tight, cluttered. Took a few items for trade. Two seconds & a snarl left me cold. Maybe not what they wanted, but obviously didnt care. There are other places in town with better attitude. Try them instead...
google avatar

Luke L.

Yelp
This is my number one place to get vinyl. I've purchased more records from Harvest Han any other shop. They are incredibly well organized (used and new) and have one of the best selections I've ever seen, especially for new records. What's crazy is that they often have better prices than online which is very rare in record shops. Their customer service was very helpful in finding me a new record I wanted (and getting it for cheap), so don't be afraid to email them. This is a great business to support and I highly recommend you come to take a look.
google avatar

Jeff L.

Yelp
I have to add to my previous review. I recently spent a week at my brother's home in Silver Spring, MD and we went to all the record stores in the district as well as some in northern VA and none of them could hold a candle to Harvest. I feel so fortunate to have this wonderful store in Asheville. I think I've dealt with the entire staff and every single one of them are wonderful people. Long live Harvest Records!
google avatar

John W.

Yelp
A comfortable store to browse in. Knowledgeable staff. The stacks are well organized, new and used vinyl.
google avatar

Curtis H.

Yelp
Best record store in Asheville . Seriously, im discerning with my record stores too. Anyway, theyve got the best selection of music, and the owners rock. Would be five stars if it was downtown. I know west asheville kicks ass, but its inconvenient.
google avatar

Baby P.

Yelp
My husband and I met two nice dudes working here. We all chatted about music, the area (we're from LA) and they seemed to carry a wide variety of stuff. But really, I can't wait to move to this town. Full of solid people.
google avatar

Peter P.

Yelp
Pretty much the best spot for records in Asheville. In a smallish town like this, it's kinda slim pickings on records here, and usually everything is "tourist pricing" so it's hard to find decent deals on stuff. Harvest on the other hand is pretty fair in their pricing and definitely has the more eclectic stuff. I'm a fan.
