I recently had the pleasure of stopping in at Harvey's Restaurant located at the historic intersection of Jarvis and Gerrard Street in Toronto, and I must say, it was a delightful experience! This charming eatery not only serves up mouthwatering food but also boasts a significant location steeped in history. From the moment I walked in, I was welcomed by a warm and inviting atmosphere that perfectly complements the vibrant neighborhood. The menu offers a fantastic selection of fast food, but I couldn't resist trying their signature items. Each bite was a testament to the quality and care that goes into their cooking. The flavors were rich and satisfying, making it clear that the chefs are passionate about what they do. The service was impeccable, with attentive staff who were eager to ensure that my dining experience was nothing short of exceptional. It's evident that they value their customers and take pride in creating a memorable visit. What makes Harvey's even more special is its location. Situated at a historical crossroads, it provides a unique backdrop that adds to the overall dining experience. After indulging in the delicious food, I took a moment to appreciate the rich history surrounding the area, making my visit not only a culinary delight but also a cultural one. If you're in Toronto and craving a delicious meal in a historically rich setting, I highly recommend stopping by Harvey's at Jarvis and Gerrard Street. You won't be disappointed!

Delicious! Very nice people and open late. They may close early for the weather but it is understandable. You must order from the app for pickup in the later hours.

UPDATE: better experience with grilled chicken sandwich. First off: they wouldn’t answer their phone (I had some requests I couldn’t input into UberEats), secondly: the food arrived ice cold, half empty fries, barely any toppings in the burger. Massive L, not what I expect from a Harvey’s restaurant.

Had a great experience at Harvey’s! The service was quick and efficient, and the staff were genuinely friendly and attentive. Everyone seemed to go out of their way to make sure orders were accurate and fresh. It’s always nice to see employees who care about the customer experience — really made a difference. Will definitely be coming back!

Just wanted to leave a quick review as I am a regular at this location. Great friendly staff, quality food made to order and typically very fast. What I want to single out in this review though is the dedication the employees are showing this week (June 23 - 25, 2025). At some point over the weekend the AC cut out in this establishment and it's hot hot HOT in there. Good lord. The little upright unit they have by the grill was reading 35c today. I spent 5 minutes inside waiting for my order and walking outside into the 26c temperatures was a relief. I can't fathom working on my feet for 8 hours in there. These people are troopers and deserve hazard pay or at least a nice bonus at the end of the month.

Waited 1 hour for this meal and most of the Time was spent trying to order online. I really was excited to try the pickle poutine, it only came with 3. Didn’t seem worth the money but tasted good. The second was a chicken bacon ranch poutine and that was pretty good and I was satisfied. Staff were weird, we went late at 11 pm and there is only a window, you can’t enter. We spent 40 min trying to pay online different ways and different cards for it to be continuously unsuccessful. We asked them to pay inside and they said no due to store policy. But after 40 mins and the problem is on their end seemed a bit unreasonable considering the location. They eventually did let us pay on spot. We also got a vanilla milkshake and that was pretty delicious.

Dec/2024: Miserable day so not in the mood to go out. Door Dash delivery was quick and friendly. 2024: I've been coming to this location for 20+ years. The service from placing your order to getting your food is pleasant and quick. Even with the lunchtime school crowd. My fave is the Big Harv Original with cheese & bacon. Nothing beats the taste of sizzle. Plenty of window seating. The Bovril base gravy is not my fave.

First time staying in Toronto, so me and my twin decided to try this spot out. Ordered a cheese and bacon burger with fries and chocolate milkshake, and he was the same but got two patties. Fairly priced, and the food was great, especially the milkshake. It may be small, but it’s tasty. Highly recommend.

Yelp
This location has been around for at least 25 years! On 2025-01-06, I ordered an Oreo Milkshake ($3.89) and Onion Rings ($3.89). The Oreo Milkshake was good. On 2025-01-07, I ordered a Skor Milkshake (large $4.59+$0.70). The Skor Milkshake was way too sweet; I won't be ordering that one again. The customer service was good. The milkshakes are hand-spun. Remember to use your CAA card to get 10% off your order (does not apply to any items using coupons). I forgot to use it on 2025-01-06. There is free WiFi. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible, but there is no door-open button. There are separate male/female washrooms (must ask staff to buzz you in). There are 4 free private parking spots just to the west of the building. Review 2025-005

Yelp
We needed a quick lunch while on the road so hit up this Harvey's we were nearby. Decided to try their jr cheeseburgers as we had a deal. The burgers themselves were indeed jr size which was fine. The meat is pretty thin and the cheese is small. The best part of Harvey's is loading up on fresh veges and choosing your sauce. Service was pretty quick, we did a mobile order and the timing was accurate. Pretty good for something fast, if you're looking for more meat, get the angus burger.

Yelp
This restaurant was right by my hotel and I was in a rush so I decided to pop in. There is metered street parking available if you drive here, but I was able to just walk from my hotel. They have a decent sized dining area, which was very clean. They do not have a drive through, but they do have a walk-up window. The staff there was very friendly and helpful. The menu consists of primarily burgers. They also serve chicken tenders, onion rings and different types of fries. I got a double bacon cheese burger with a side of fries. The burger was meh. It was edible but average. The bacon that was supposed to be on it was existent. My meal served its purpose of putting something in my belly, but I would not be my first or even second or third choice.

Yelp
My original lunch plans fell through. This was by my hotel so I gave it a shot. And it wasn't bad, imo. A no-frills burger joint with some chicken items. Everything is made to order. Each combo comes with fries or onion rings and a drink. I got the 1/4 angus with cheese and bacon. You choose your extra toppings (veggies and sauces) after the burger is ready. And you're good to go. For just $16 CA or $12 US, it's a pretty good deal, I think. The fries were ok. Nothing great, and definitely not terrible. They were also made fresh. The burger was good, too. So I don't know what Jay was talking about in a prior review. The burger looked small, but it actually filled me up. I got mine topped with lettuce and Harvey's sauce. Simple. I didn't have super high expectations coming in. With my experience, it meant that I didn't leave disappointed, either.

Yelp
Lots of people during lunch rush. I like the $5 for 2 jr burger or jr chicken if I just want something cheap. I like the fact that I can add any condiments they have definitely makes the sandwiches taste better than McDonald's. I added the ghost pepper mayo, it was spicy the 1st 2 times I was there, but the 3rd time wasn't as spicy which was a bummer. Sometimes there are beggars outside, but most of the time it's good.

Yelp
I wanted to see what a Canadian chain was like. I don't like fast food to begin with. But this is even worse than McDonalds, which is one of the worst and low quality ones. The burger tasted more like soy than beef. The fries had less ingredients than McDonalds, so they were better and more like potatoes. Which also meant their poutine was better than McDonalds. But they both had the same nasty gravy mix and pulled mozarella for curds.

Yelp
Would be a great place but their washrooms seem to have been broken forever and i think it's just they don't want people using them. I also saw a guy go in there. I thought not providing a washroom was illegal or against by law's or something but they use the excuse they are "broken".

Daniel D.

Yelp
the burger is like a 7.5/10 mostly cuz i enjoy the room for customization. maybe will rate it higher once i figure out how to make a burger

Peter C.

Yelp
Delicious burger with world-class condiments!!!

Yelp
I'm sorry, but Harvey's is not what it used to be. I'd consider it poor value, and below average food. Burger King is 10x better, so that should tell you something.

Yelp
We have been visiting few burger places in search of the best veggie burger. After Hero and Acme, it was time to Harvey's. I was excited and it was worthy, as the burger end up to be really delicious. We enjoyed it with fries and ice tea. For a Friday winter night it was pretty quiet, as it was occupied mostly with singles and few couples. I know why they were all quiet, as the burger was too good to have a conversation. Ha! The other time when we were there my excitement was cooled down when we got to putting the burger together. Older Chinese man was serving us and he was so fast and so unclear to me that when he asked something I took a moment to reply and he already replied himself and poured something on my burger which I didn't want. It was a turnoff and one of us took that up to the manager and we were served another burger. All was good at the end, but totally unnecessary in my opinion. I am not sure if the veggie burger at Harvey's is the best, but we will find ourselves going back there as the food was really good, though the place itself and service not so much.

Yelp
Okay place though sometimes there are sketchy people inside the place that are drunk, stoned or looking to start trouble

Shamana A.

Yelp
this was the slowest service I've ever encountered in a so-called fast food restaurant. he didn't want to give me the bill either, insisting that I use the condiment stained order receipt

Yelp
I agree with Karl R. 100% Expat Torontonian (is that correct ?) here..who remembers Harvey's from when he was a kid, and gets Harveys every change he gets on a trip to Toronto. You either like them or you don't. The texture of the beef patty beef isn't like any other burger joint. I think they mix in some veggie soybean stuff in there..but whatever they do the taste to me is excellent ! I have found some like it and some don't. But if you do, you really like it, which is me. The stores are like BK as they are no frills tables, and seating. I currently live in Florida, and we won't have anything like Harvey's in the States. So enjoy you Canucks, your lucky to have Harvey's up there. Can't wait to introduce my family to a Harvey's burger. I'll let you know what they say.

Yelp
ordered 2 cheeseburgers, was served something without cheese that wasn't a burger. Told them repeatedly (3x) this order was wrong, but was ignored. Its forgiveable to get an order wrong, its not forgiveable to insist the wrong order was right, while holding a receipt as evidence. Received two disgusting, inedible loose meat sandwiches for $27, instead of cheeseburgers. Had to throw out the order, it was revolting. I contacted Harvey's customer service, and they did not respond. I wrote them an angry email complaining they didn't respond, and then they did send a desultory, useless reply. At that point, I was no longer interested in getting any kind of resolution. I don't eat at Harvey's anymore, and I hope this location specifically closes and the location repurposed to better use. I think this was an outrageous ripoff and 100% their fault.

Yelp
Providing a veg burger for vegetarian is great, but how would you cook in in the same griller of the meat!!! Please consider to make it fully vegetarian! Also the fish how you frie it with the chicken, dont you think some ppl has allergy from fish!!
google avatar

Melanie X.

Yelp
Harvey's is just Harvey's, nothing more, nothing less. As a pescetarian, I appreciate to be able to choose between a veggie burger and a fish burger and being able to build your own burger is nice but I don't think Harvey's is bad or good. The area is a tad rough but it's not all that bad.
google avatar

Aadil A.

Yelp
It's a downtown Harvey's so if you are hoping for a quiet meal ... Well it's just not happening. You will be bombarded by the homeless / under privileged asking for spare change but they don't pester! Don't be alarmed or offended, they are just asking for change not your left kidney!!! Staff is very helpful and the burgers never disappoint.

Yelp
Quick fast and reliable. Its a Harveys burger. Good clean and fresh. Always find the customer service and wait time a little slow at this location. Reliable joint for a quick burger.

Yelp
Hooker Harveys. If you want to have some dirty fun, this may be the place to hang out after 10pm. But if you are craving a good yummy burger, stray away. My burger tasted like cardboard in a sock. Sigh. Maybe I am exaggerating. But I could have made that burger myself: 1. Buy a No-Name brand burger pattie from No Frills. 2. Keep it in the freezer for 5 months. 3. Take it out, thaw under hot water for 5 minutes. 4. Slap it between some burger buns with whatever. That's how bad it was. Fries were unsalted ... and heavy. And unenjoyable. $7 wasted. "Never" coming back. Sorry Justin.

Yelp
Good deals all the time at Harvey's. Burgers taste great, fries are usually fresh. This location has some sketchy characters, but nonetheless its still a good place to eat. They offer free wifi, pretty fast and reliable. Upgrading to poutine is never worth it, they make the poutines small now. The location is small, but seating is usually available, and fairly clean. Noise level fluctuates, but usually normal for a fast-food restaurant. Tip: type Harvey's coupon offers into your iPhone search in Safari and you will receive many offers. Check the expiry dates, and use a relevant coupon for your order; just dhow your iPhone screen with the coupon. Saved me tons. Oh yes! This location is infamously known as Hooker Harvey's, because historically it was frequented by street workers; although, nowadays street workers have moved their enterprises to digital mediums; thus, the nickname Hooker Harvey's no longer carries the same weight, making it a misnomer.

Yelp
#1 Hookers hang out on the corner. One girl had a breast hanging out of her dress, such a funny sight! #2 My burger wasn't fit for dog food. It looked like a bunch of gray worms packed together, gross!

Yelp
It's a fast food restaurant so really my expecations weren't high. But this met them quite well! I ordered the fish sandwich combo for $5.99 (with coupon) which came out to be $6.77 with tax and it was all worth it! The fish was just a regular fish fillet like you find at other fast food places but the bun was big and they let me go all out with the toppings so it ended up huge by the end...a HUGE bonus compared to other places which just have tarter sauce and cheese if you're lucky. The fillet was cooked fresh so it did take a few mins which was fine with me. The fries were thick, not too salty, and perfectly crispy and soft on the inside. I eat a lot but this meal filled me up. The employees all looked a little lost and I think there are too many in the small space behind the counter but they were all nice and pleasant to deal with. The sitting area was clean but I didn't eat there. The crowd had a mix of different people, including some homeless but i live in the city so it wasn't unnerving to me like it might be to others. I will be trying their veggie burger next time but overall this is a great place for an affordable, filling meal.

Yelp
Great Canadian on a regular bun. Lettuce, tomatoes and pickles. Fries, gravy on the side with black pepper.

Yelp
Definitely good burgers. Had the veggie burger not too long ago too. To my surprise its possibly one of the best veggie style burgers I have tried from a burger chain restaurant ever. The usual burgers are also good as well. + Cool salads :)

Yelp
Harveys in Orangeville, Ontario. While normally is both the service and the food better than average, on this particular occasion we ran into restaurant manager (Ashley, if I am not mistaken) who, late in the day and us the only customers to be served, was beyond borderline rude. Twice, she tried to pull a fast one on us by offering different kinds of salads - first a really expensive one, then, when we questioned the price, she served a really cheapy salad with nothing in it - again, when we questioned it, she actually blamed it on us. With nobody else in the restaurant, I would have expected more patience with a customer and good deal more courtesy.

Giba N.

Yelp
So, I order a double original with bacon and cheese. The picture looks great and the description has 2 beef patties. 2. The girl calls out "double original bacon cheese..." for my order, as to which toppings I would like. I ask: "are you sure that is a DOUBLE original?" (because all I see is 1 lonely meat patty with 2 small strips of bacon and a slice of cheese under it). She answers: "YES, thats a double". Im confused and thinking maybe I just dont see it because I asked the empoyee prepping my burger and she answered that it is exactly what I asked - a double original. I get my toppings, come home, open up and ofcourse its 1 patty. Still dont understand why they call it a double and they charged me a double for a burger that is identical to a single. Tecumseh road east, Windsor Ontario.

Protorontonian C.

Yelp
I went there for their chocolate milkshake and it was so gross. tons of sugar in it and no chocolate taste. Harvey's has cheapened up their menu a lot. I used to love their chocolate milk shake 3 years ago and now it's just garbage. I bought one for myself and 1 for my husband. Both me and my husband took one sip and threw it out. And the fact that my husband is not a picky eater and threw it out says a lot. If he doesn't like it, it means it's really bad. What a turn off. Never again.
google avatar

Eric Y.

Yelp
My favourite fast food burger joint in the world! If Americans had Harvey's then In-N-Out and Shake Shack would no longer be the most beloved fast food burger joints. Unfortunately, Cara Foods believes that there's still ample growth opportunities in Canada so it's unlikely that we'll see any Harvey's south of the border any time soon. The patties at Harvey's are inexplicably satisfying, and the fries aren't bad! The only drawback is the long wait times stemming from the length customization process of their burgers whereby customers choose their own toppings.
google avatar

Steve A.

Yelp
Typical fast food burger joint - wish the fries were still fresh cut. Bonus is that one can customize the sandwich toppings.

Annie K.

Yelp
Have you ever met employees from a fast food place who enjoy their jobs? Go to this Harvey's and you will see what I'm talking about. EMPLOYEES Smiles, laughs, and genuine suggestions...that's what you get when you go to this Harvey's. These guys are so sweet that I would go back just to see them. FOOD The fries are so much better than than 10 years ago. They are a bit crunchy with a soft inside. Yum! My burger was ok. PARKING Free! but it's very small and it's very difficult to get out the lot during rush hour b/c it faces gerrard. MENU Harvey's seems to have streamlined their menu. There are a signficantly less number of options and I think that was a fantastic idea. Simple is good. LIGHTING It seems to be brighter inside. Before they had those ugly dark menus on the wall. Now, they've changed them to some simple, light coloured menus. It makes the place a lot friendlier.

Luis H.

Yelp
The best hamburger chain in all of Canada. Surpasses the quality of international chains such as McDonald's and Burger King due to their use of fresh ingredients and the process of preparing your meal is done in front of your eyes. Although I do not consume red meat, their chicken sandwiches are amazingly good and I love the fact that the workers listen to what you want on your sandwich instead of following a construction diagram on the wall. This location is located next to the Ramada Hotel on Jarvis, a block south of Alan Gardens. Place is kept clean and service is good.

Fred L.

Yelp
Get out of the onion ring (I mean dough ring business.) It impunes your creditibility. Other menu items are fine.

Robyn W.

Yelp
I've been going to Harvey's for many years. Today, we went for lunch...I asked for mustard relish onion and pickle on my burger. She went on to put mustard on the meat...relish on the top bun...onion on the mustard then pickle. I asked why she did this, because I would think the relish on the top bun would make it soggy. She told me that since I said mustard first...then relish, which she says should go on first. Never heard such a thing in my life. I figured the way I said it, it would go on my burger that way. It was soggy. Might have to be more specific next time.

James M.

Yelp
Great food! Love going to this place, always have a great meal here. One thing I would like to change though is their menu. Wish they had a little more options, but nonetheless still a great burger joint!

Jeff B.

Yelp
I love harveys I wish we had then in new york. Burger was decent but the experience was amazing, I still talk about this place a year after going.
