This place was absolutely stunning and completely worth the entrance fee. Just a heads up,it’s cash only, so be sure to bring some with you. I adored this temple. The vibe was immaculate: peaceful, beautiful, and incredibly relaxing. One of the highlights is the gorgeous lookout point at the top, where you get a breathtaking view of the ocean. It’s such a calming place to pause and take it all in. Down below, there’s a small cave area with a tunnel you can walk through. I highly recommend doing that, it's a really cool experience and adds something unique to the visit. The entire area is beautifully maintained, with clean, immaculate grounds. If you’re visiting during the summer, bring an umbrella and some cooling spray because it does get hot. Still, even in the heat, this temple was a 10 out of 10 for me. Truly one of the most memorable and visually beautiful spots I’ve visited.

Date of visit: 26/06/2025 at 8:15am I think if you visit on a weekday in late June when the peak season is coming to an end, you can arrive a little bit after the opening hour without worrying about queuing because it is not that crowded. There were plenty of hydrangeas to see when I visited. About the hydrangea path ticket, again, if you visit in late June, it is perhaps better to buy a same-day ticket because the slot is open from 8, while the Internet ticket only allows from 9. If you visit on weekends or during the peak then perhaps Internet reservation will be a better plan.

We visited after an early start to see Kotoku-in. Words can hardly do justice to the beauty of Hase-dera Temple and surrounding gardens. It's well worth the train ride and time from Tokyo to experience it firsthand and one of Kamakura’s most picturesque spots. Allow more time than you think you’ll need and stop for good coffee on the way from/to the station at Kamakura Hase Coffee & Galette. Great way to start the day.

Absolutely stunning place to visit. Glad we did. This is why my wife let's me map out our trips, because was going to walk past and not even consider it. 😅She loved it. It was pouring rain at the time and didn't not stop at all but it added to the beauty. Cost 400 yen to enter, this help the up keep too.

Hasedera costs ¥400 for adults to enter, and it’s totally worth it. The garden is gorgeous, especially now with the hydrangeas in full bloom. You can walk up the stairs to see the big Kannon (Goddess of Mercy) statue inside the main hall, it’s really impressive. There’s also a nice panoramic view of the sea from up top. Super chill and beautiful place to explore!

Beat the INSANE summer weekend crowds by getting here at the opening time. An absolute must day trip from Tokyo. A real gem for the Ajisai season. The hydrangea walk is a separate extra ticket that you should book online. But if you miss the online booking and don't feel like waiting two extra hours for a walk-in ticket, there are amazing hydrangeas all through the rest of the complex.

Beautiful history, culture and landscaping. High traffic with visitors but not overwhelming. Lots of walking and so much to see. Surrounding neighborhood is very nice, plenty of shops, lodging and eateries. Wished the museum was opened to get the full experience but satisfied with the grounds.

visited the hasedera temple during the hydrangea season and it was really beautiful. the hydrangeas were in full bloom and the pictures we took were amazing. note that you have to pay and additional fee to go on the hydrangea path and reach early to avoid getting a queue number that is too late! we had to wait for 2 hours just to get on the path and we arrived at about 10am. the crowds here are also quite massive especially during hydrangea season so be prepared for that.
