Great low-key breakfast restaurant on Conant near Outer Drive.Working the weekend in the area I just needed coffee and end up sitting down for a complete Turkey sausage Omelette with Rice instead of Hash Browns! Off the Chain! Restaurant with 90% occupancy had the bell constantly ringing with Doordash and Uber eats orders. If you're ever in the D, try and make your way to the Hashbrown Cafe!

The food was really good. Fish cooked to perfection and good quality. Seasoned well. Potatoes really good and eggs really good. Only thing they forgot my grits and that upset me! Koolaid good and comes with a lot for the price.

I don’t even make reviews and I rated this establishment a 3 star which would’ve been easily been a 5 star but the lady with the small hair attitude was TERRIBLE! She don’t greet you told me to come get my own menu and my friend ask what comes on a particular sandwich and she told her whatever you want to come on it. When it was time to pay I was left standing at the register and she came back and said your card didn’t go through but she never told me the machine was ready. Now the gentlemen and cook in back is the only reason I frequent this place he’s pleasant and a damn good cook but his help needs an attitude adjustment.

A quick aside: If you're looking for shredded potato hash browns and you aren't willing to try an alternative, take a look at some of the photos before you stop in so you know what you're getting into. The hash browns are fantastic. I didn't know what to expect when I saw it was more of a smashed potato hash but it was delicious and crispy on a level I would not have expected. My omelette was big and delicious with a generous helping of additions. The pancake I had tasted like a birthday cake! No syrup necessary. Everyone was welcoming, wish this spot was closer to home!

Google
My Three (3) Bone Buffalo Fish Dinner convinced me that "there is no better fish available in Detroit, Michigan", and that the ONLY Place to get it is Hashbrown's Cafe' on Conant between 7-8 mile roads. Don't blink or you'll miss it and remember that they close at 5:00 pm and that they do not accept credit or debit cards. * Note : Be prepared for a taste bud explosion like you can't imagine ! This is my first time going to this place and trying there's food and the pancakes and bacon were good. Also the reason why I knew about this place is because I found it during a doordash order I took and was curious and try it out someday

Yelp
I really liked the Hashbrowns Cafe. For one, I appreciate a good small diner with reasonable prices and wait service. Spots like The Clique (though it's more expensive than it used to be), Marcus Hamburgers, Hygrade Deli, Colombo's Coney Island, and the Motown Grill on Van Dyke Hashbrowns fits in well with this group and I was happy to find it, as spots like these are increasingly becoming rare in the city, especially north of West Grand Blvd. You either have a very luxurious spot with wait service or it's take out only. Hashbrowns does its part to fill that void. Hashbrowns menu is awesome. I love seafood for breakfast and they provide it. Catfish, Salmon, and even Tilapia are all available here. Again, you're not often seeing this type of selection at a diner in the city. I ordered the Salmon Crocquettes with Eggs and Grits and it was very, very good. First off l, I loved the Croquettes. They were fried evenly with a lot of fish and a little bit of bell pepper for flavor. Most importantly, they weren't salty! They just let the ample portion of good quality fish carry them and I really enjoyed them. My grits were nice and smooth and with a nice bit of flavor. They weren't lumpy or mealy at all. The eggs were very good too. It was a great portion of food that easily carried me to dinner (no small feat). I loved the restaurants atmosphere. It's like a smaller, more low key version of the Clique. When I'm eating somewhere mid day, mid week, I just want to be able to gather my thoughts and get my food. Hashbrowns got the job done. Also, the wait service was awesome. I got my coffee and water filled a bunch and everyone was extremely pleasant. It's a neighborhood spot that everyone respects and the vibe was appreciated. It's on Conant street, which is one of my favorite spots in the city. It's a nice little hub of activity that I feel gets overlooked, with lots of restaurants lining the street. Loved it and will be back!

Yelp
I had a chance to stop in today I asked for dine in there wasn't anyone in the place besides my family of 3 and the people that work there. People came in and ordered on the spot and their food came out before ours. Again no one else is in there. They told one lady 20 minutes, she came after we were seated and placed our order. The food took so long I asked for it togo this is after a 45 minute wait with no one else in there. The lady they told 20 minute wait food walked out before we did, it took approximately another 5 minutes. On top of that they charged $4 for a Pepsi that comes out the can. The only solace of this situation was the food was good, it wasn't worth the hour wait, the server walked around with her face balled up like she didn't feel like working. The only time you saw a smile was when her dude came in to pick up his food and she told him "love you" other than that she was on her phone. Unprofessional to say the least. Overall again the food was good not worth the wait I won't go back nor will I recommend it.

Yelp
Food is awesome! It's full of flavor. The catfish, veggies, and hash browns are so good! You don't need any seasoning for anything. Just eat. It's the same for the fried shrimp. The service is great. We call our waitress "Auntie." She's so down to earth, friendly (but not overbearing). She gets your order right and is very assertive. The ambiance is cool. It's a laidback atmosphere and the owner, cooks and servers are pretty nice and professional.

Yelp
Today was a super busy day for them. We waited about 1hour for our food but it was just right on point. I Really loved the food and wanted the kool aid but that's fine I had eggs wing dings and home Fresh potatoes. If you're ever on the east side of Detroit please stop by. It's a small quant place and great food.

Yelp
We were recommended to try this spot. It took two hours to get my order. Grits were not cooked all the way. We asked for dine in but it took so long so we just asked for it to go. Food was messed up so we had to wait longer because we had to drive back to Chicago

Yelp
The food is delicious and it's a fantastic family vibe from the vibes I caught while visiting.

Yelp
Sucks!!!! Dine in service is the worst! It's definitely hard to support when they don't put forth the effort. The place was empty and still waited 15mins for waiter to approach to place an order. Once that was established waited an additional 30 mins just for our food to never come. Finally we (our family) gave up!!!! Spent a total of 45 minutes in a cold empty restaurant! Definitely should be a carry out establishment!

Yelp
Very clean and popular neighborhood black-owned restaurant. They offer specials and a kids menu. Catfish and salmon croquettes were tasty, buy a little over cooked. I personally prefer that the butter on my toast to be spread to the edges and not just a glob in the middle. Place has a nice friendly vibe and nice selection of breakfast and lunch options.

Yelp
I love the salmon croquettes. This place is a true gem for the city of Detroit. I've been coming to this place for over 10 years and the food quality is just as good now as it was when I first came here and I recommend everyone who visits Deteoit to come here.

Yelp
Friendly people and delicious food!! Definitely more of a home cooked food experience compared to the quick Coney Island turnaround. They have about 4 booths and some diner style seating so carryout might be the best bet during peak hours. The Hashbrowns draw you in but everything I've tried from the salmon croquettes to the cheese eggs to the pancakes have all put a smile on my face. Show this family business some love!

Yelp
Best breakfast place ever! Try the salmon croquettes they are cash only so come prepared and also black owned

Andre A.

Yelp
Slow...slow. they can make more money they don't want to as if they don't know a better business quality between them and their customers. Faster service. They won't answer the phone on Sunday. $$$$ lost.Communicate better with people. 1/2 hr for a breakfast if they answer the phone .Really 40 min. I'll cook myself or go to another coney hate it's black own, slow service. Slow just typically. I know they can do a lot better and possible expand just need a real good go getter owner to restart the process with new workers and training. Food is good but... It's more to a good restaurant than the food ..12:03 my food will be ready at 12:43. A omelette. smh ..cash only?????

Yelp
This place is a favorite of mine. The hashbrowns are great--little potato chunks with some mysterious, happy spice blend that includes the occasional caraway seed. I am a creature of habit and I pretty much always get eggs, hashbrowns, and coffee. The menu includes an array of breakfast options, with sausage and hot cakes in the mix. There are also fish dinners, sandwiches, and homemade desserts. Hashbrowns Cafe is an actual family restaurant, run by an actual family. They're very friendly, and that's why I keep coming back. Also good to know: They have Sunday hours, until 5pm. Cash only. Worth a stop.

Yelp
So I went here out of the blue. I was in the area with a friend and we stopped in for a late breakfast. I ordered the Maria's pancake special. I have never in my life had pancakes so good! I didn't have to add syrup or anything! They were THAT GOOD. I also had some delicious beef sausage and perfectly cooked eggs over medium. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because the service was slow and one of the waitresses (not mine) had a pretty stank demeanor the whole time we were there. And we never got any refills while we ate. Buuuuuut, most importantly, the food was bomb! I'd still visit again, just don't be in a rush.

Yelp
I had a horrible experience, the service wasn't to my liking. Waited as least a hour to get my food couldn't wait any longer so I decided to leave, then was made to feel like I was the bad guy because the food was up and I didn't want it to go. I was told this place had great food but now I won't know because, We will have to wait a hour or longer to experience it.

Yelp
Food was awesome! Would definitely go back when I am in the area. Really small and cozy place. Tip: order food ahead of time to avoid waiting. Small place but very busy! Good customer service
