We booked in with seven adults and one toddler for Easter weekend. The ambiance and staff friendliness was exactly as we remembered it from a previous stay. They handled my food allergies very well, which I appreciated. However, some details lapsed this time that affected our experience. I feel this can help others know ahead of time so they speak up immediately to get them rectified. First, Hastings House delivers a lovely muffin basket to your door each morning. However, this service was not consistently delivered. We were told it was because our adult sons declined turn down service the night before for their rooms. We weren't told turn down service affects the next day's morning room service. In addition, this happened on our granddaughter's birthday and we had asked for a special muffin or cupcake to be delivered, which also wasn't done. Despite having one wheelchair user in our group, we were seated at a table down a step for breakfast. We used our own portable ramp to take care of this. Their solution was to take the person through the backside of the restaurant through a utility entrance, which isn't ideal. The next day, they put us in a different location without a step, which was much better. However, service to our table was greatly lacking. We weren't the only people seated in this area, but we were the largest party. Everything from missing cutlery (while our breakfast cooled) to missing /far too small cream jugs (while our coffee cooled) to a lack of refills. We didn't mind a long and leisurely breakfast, but we simply didn't get sufficient service. My advice for others is to speak up. I know the staff would resolve these things if they knew about them. We tried to give them the benefit of the doubt, hoping they would realize their mistakes.
