On the Grid : Hat n' Boots/Oxbow Park

"The Hat n' Boots is the true soul of the Georgetown neighborhood. Built in 1954, abandoned in 1988, and rescued from its near-demise in 2003, this gigantic restored icon now lives in Oxbow Park. Also home to a neighborhood P-Patch, the park captures the eclectic pride and close-knit nature of this community." - Starbucks Global Creative

We had to stop by Hat n’ Boots on our trip to Seattle. The kids had found it online and after learning the history, we decided to add it to our itinerary. Hat and Boots is connected to Oxbow Park and there is ample free street parking so it’s a short walk to take photos. If you have small kids, there is a playground area and there are some picnic tables if you bring a lunch. We were there for about 15 minutes and that was enough to take ample photos.

Compact and nice place for kid playing around, there is no restroom though. And only street parking.

Awesome little park, very dog friendly with respectful dog owners. Big hat, big boots. An outlet for charging under the hat. Nice and quiet but not a far walk from the downtown shops or busy highways.

This park is very cute, a little bit dirty, and unorganized. There is a small playground for children but there are a lot of homeless people around. Since there are many industries around, the park is not very well-known except the local people living in this neighborhood. The cowboy boots and hat are interesting and huge, and they are the only attractions of this place. Overall, I highly recommend everyone coming to this park for their curiosity

This is a really cute park. Kids running around being happy. Not really big. Nice small park. Lots of flowers and of course the hat and boots are a little charm. Would go again.

First time at the park and couldn't really enjoy the space because people are living out of the park. This is what happens when the city throws money at the police instead of funding social housing.

It's a cute community park. After taking 2 pics with the hat & boots we were done. Then we were admiring the P-patch . There was a small play area too with a slide. One bbq grill area which was really dirty , there was a picnic table & 2-3 benches . Some areas of park were unkempt & dry grassy. There is no parking available, you have to find street parking. There's a bus stop outside but we couldn't park there, so we parked a little far away & walked to the park. This was a one time visit here & we won't return again. Behind the boots it was really stinky like poop & pee.

It's one of those places that you probably pass all the time nearby but never stop. You should, its a Georgetown institution and worth 15 minutes. It's hidden in a residential area and quite small, aside from the hat and boots, there is a community garden and small playground.
