Whenever I have the opportunity to explore a cave, I take it—and Hato Cave did not disappoint! The 30-minute guided tour offers a fascinating look into the island's interior landscape. The cave is well-lit throughout, making it easy to navigate and appreciate the features without worry.
You’ll encounter stunning formations of stalagmites and stalactites that make the cave incredibly unique. Keep an eye out for the small bats that call this place home—you might spot them fluttering overhead or nestled in the darker corners.
One thing to note: despite being in a cave you are not deep underground, so the cave is surprisingly warm, so don’t expect a cool escape from the heat. Overall, it’s a unique and worthwhile stop for anyone interested. Also, there are quite a few stairs to get up into the cave, so those with poor knees may want to pass.
