A wonderful place to visit and a relatively easy drive from Mildura. I last came her on a school camp decades ago. It was fantastic to visit once again! This huge National Park has plenty of walking tracks, lakes, camping areas, huge River Red Gums and plenty of wildlife. If you are lucky (as we were), you might even spot an emu or two :-) The Warepil Lookout Walk is well worth doing. It is relatively easy and provides wonderful views in all directions from the top of the tower. The Mournpall Lake Loop is also impressive. You will find occasional campers making the most of this tranquil area as well. Here are some photos from our recent visit. We look forward to visiting again when next in the area!

Love Hattah! Beautiful, old growth river red gums, full of hollows for all manner of wildlife. Insects, birds and wildlife abound with the lake supporting Nature. It's the end of August and the wildflowers are starting to pop. Won't be long until they're a glorious carpet.

This is a nature lovers delight. The national park is stunning with lovely walking tracks and a really interesting visitors centre (unmanned). You can camp here by booking through Vic Parks. The area is full of parrots and is a must for birders.

Stunning place to see the Mallee in its most beautiful state. Emus running free and so many lovely birds singing. A place to escape to.

Hattah-Kulkyne is a relatively short distance from Mildura. It is a desert area but there are a number of lakes scattered throughout the National Park. The lakes are suitable for kayaking but not really for swimming. There are meant to be fish and yabbies but we didn't get anything - August might not be the Season for them. Plenty of Pelicans in the water. There is a Ranger Station at the main entrance road but we tried 4 or more times, at different times of the day, to find someone with no luck. There are many 4WD tracks but most are for authorised vehicles only - but they are allowed for hikers/walkers. Campers will have to bring their own firewood because it is illegal to scavenge dead wood in the Park. There were some campers who brought bicycles but these are no good on the sandier tracks.

Beautiful bush area but only a few walking tracks. Best visited early-mid morning or mid-late arvo (to see wildlife). The unmanned visitor centre is fine.

There is a Shearer's house deep inside the park that's a lovely quiet spot with the bare essentials. It's 4wd only access. You need to book through Parks Victoria but worth it

Fantastic native setting. Amazing drive through to Murray River from Calder Hwy. Some ant control required at camping areas.
