"Okatoma Creek is a tributary of the Bouie River and is about a twenty minute drive from downtown Hattiesburg. The combination of whitewater runs and calmer waters mean that visitors can engage in all manner of water sports, from intermediate canoeing to kayaking to swimming. The Class I kayaking run is one of the most popular reasons for water sports enthusiasts to come to the creek. It’s one of the few whitewater experiences in the region, and although it’s not at the high end of things technically, it’s still a moderately challenging run, with three falls/chutes. It usually takes around three and a half hours to complete the run of around 19 miles." - Paul Oswell

Yelp
A great place to get drinks and small bites. The place is quite large with a cozy room, main room, and out door seating. I enjoyed using their touch less ordering system. I ordered the Korean pork belly bowl which was delicious. The pork belly was juicy and flavorful. They have a fun selection of drinks to pick from. I would come back.

Yelp
An interesting place. I did a flight of beers that were the non-IPAs, and to be honest there wasn't a whole Lotta difference between them. It's not that they were bad it's just that they weren't really distinctive in the style that each was. That said, we drank a bottle of there Cake stand and red velvet imperial Stout. Both were amazingly complex dessert beers that were totally unique and off the charts good. I would also say that the chicken sandwich was pretty decent. So I guess there were things that I both liked and didn't like but overall a worthwhile experience.

Michael P.

Yelp
My wife is a fan of Crowd Control and Devils Harvest, which I think are some of the best IPAs available from a micro brewery in the southeast. When we decided to visit Hattiesburg between Christmas and New Years, we had to stop by to check out their other beers. We ended up getting flights to try out other varieties of their beers, and we also ordered some dinner. The food was a high quality twist on bar food, and was good, as was the beer. I would highly recommend a visit to Southern Prohibition for anyone who enjoys good beer.

Yelp
Enjoying tasty brews with a side of fries. Great pitstop after shopping till we dropped.

Yelp
This is a really cool place to get some good drinks at. My husband and his friend were really impressed with their drinks. Service was very friendly. The place is a cool hang out spot to bring some friends. They have a lounge area as well. Now, about their food. I did there open face pot roast melt and it was so goooooood. Very tender and saucy. Such good flavor! Their little pizza roll nachos were actually good. If you don't like pizza rolls though, don't get them. But they add all the fixings to it and it tastes really good. Their fries are good and give you plenty of them. And their key lime pie was very delicious!

Krystal M.

Yelp
The food was A1 .. I love everything about this place. Fun, cool vibes. This place is definitely on my top 10 list. Brussels sprouts GET them !! Favvv

Yelp
A little out of the way, doesn't look like much from the outside, but opens up to a modern interior: great craft beer, flights available, order online on an app and it gets delivered to you. A small group space in front as well as outdoor seating. The app ordering is efficient, but makes it less personable.

Kelly W.

Yelp
Well... this is a true Speak Easy. Just follow the GPS. When you question if you are in the right place, you have arrived. I got the Boudin Egg Rolls, don't look it up, just order them! They were amazing! My husband ordered the fried chicken sandwich. It was tender and served super hot. The red cabbage and roasted garlic mayo pushed it over the top! I strongly recommend giving this place a try!

Alex H.

Yelp
I'm not a huge beer drinking but the atmosphere here was very welcoming and made me want to try a few. There are a few different seating area options based on what you're looking for and the weather - outdoor, inside, bar and a private lounge with a big screen that plays movies and tv shows. We had a large group so we took advantage of the private lounge area. My flight included PB&J, Gold Rush, Double Sea and Devils Harvest. All of them tasted really good but I'd say the Double Sea was my favorite. The staff was all very friendly and answered questions about the different beers on tap. I would definitely recommend this location to try some of the beers and relax.

Yelp
Choose another bar for your after work cocktails. Management allows parents to let kids run wild, screaming, in the bar and out in the courtyard. If you want to enjoy a drink in peace after a long day of work, this is NOT the place to go. A place can be "family friendly" as they describe this bar without letting kids run wild.

Jay M.

Yelp
I have long enjoyed SoPro beers, which are available locally. Crowd Control and Devils Harvest are two of my go-to craft beers. Getting a chance to visit Hattiesburg and their brew pub was something I've always wanted to do. My wife and enjoyed the beer and the food. We were completely amazed at what was available on-site. Their sours were incredible, easily some of the best we've ever had. It's a shame they don't distribute them. If you're a craft beer fan, I highly recommend Southern Prohibition.

Steven D.

Yelp
Enjoyed another visit to SoPro yesterday for their Black Friday beer release. The place is nice and the bartenders were polite. The tap list is a bit confusing and I overhead a few others do the same thing I did by ordering a beer on what you think is the tap board but some are in bottles and cans only. Not a big deal, just confusing.

Patrick M.

Yelp
Stopped in while I'm visiting for work from out of town and the burger and patty melt were fantastic. The beers on tap are great. Will definitely stop in again if I'm in Hattiesburg in the future.

Michelle H.

Yelp
There are lots of different places to sit with easy ordering from your mobile device. The food is delicious (occasionally over salted but not often) and delivered swiftly by friendly staff who are willing to get necessary items (extra utensils, water) to make your meal enjoyable. We love sampling their beer menu! The only downside of a visit here is when your new favorite beer runs out or there isn't any in the case to take home. Surely that's a sign their business is doing well!

Yelp
Southern Prohibition Brewing is my 88th brewery visit! SPB has a nicely set up tasting room and I really expected more people at 8pm on a Friday evening. It looks like the sort of place that could really get rocking but when I was there i would say there were about 12 people there. Let's taste some beers! Suzy B blonde is what you expect from a blonde ale. A nice little bready flavor with a nice clean finish. Very, very drinkable. The "A Mexican Lager" was quite good as well. I would like a little more malt from it. As it was it was very reminiscent of Corona, but without that skunky flavor you have to try and cover up with a lime. It did have a bit of lime flavor to it but it wasn't covering anything up. Apocrypha is a Biere De Mars which is a style you don't see very often. This had the Belgian/farmhouse ale thing going. It had a bit of that funk that you expect and was really good. Thank You DIPA was hazy and had a nice sweet, floral, piney scent to it. This was very tasty! I might just take a crowler of this with me. I'm not done yet though so who knows, something else might grab me. Ah. A Gose. Nothing like licking the sweat off of a German workers back in a coriander factory. To explain that, the first time I tried a Gose I knew nothing of the style so I googled it and found this: https://www.thrillist.com/amphtml/drink/nation/craft-beer-is-dead-gose-ruined-craft-beer Yeah, that cracked me up. I don't dislike Gose and it's funny how many I have been running into lately. That might be due to my habit of hanging out in breweries... anyway, the Icebox. This was good. It had a fruity flavor to it with that Gosey-salty flavor at the end. Mommas Boy. I mean Mother Boy. I wonder at the story behind that name. Mother Boy is a Berliner with guava, coconut and grapefruit. Guava and coconut on the nose for me. It smelled really good! If you've read some of my reviews you know that is sometimes followed with STOP because you have just enjoyed the best part of that beer. Not the case here. The flavors were mostly guava and coconut for me which was surprising as often grapefruit takes over. Ok, now two barley wines. Rye For An Eye, one aged in whiskey barrels and one is bourbon barrels with cherries and orange zest. The cherry version had a nice cherry aroma mixed with the bourbon barrel. The flavors followed nicely. This was really, really good. The whisky version without cherry was also very good. They nailed it with this barley wine. Both versions I tried were excellent. No red or brown ales here, which are the preferred beer of SWPFTD but she still would have enjoyed some of these beers. Southern Prohibition Brewing is turning out some really good beers! I also had a pulled pork pizza which was also really good. I intended to eat only half, but that didn't happen and I ate the whole thing. If anyone is a glutton for punishment, please, follow my brewery reviews from across the U.S. and beyond! https://www.yelp.com/collection/-8iscFkpiiCI563-FDfwGg and if anyone is wondering who SWPFTD is you will have to check out my review of Black Market Brewing Co in Temecula, CA to understand.

Yelp
Stopped in Hattiesburg specifically to try this place after seeing all the creative beers on Instagram. We were most definitely happy with the food and the beer. I had the open-faced pot roast sandwich and husband had the chicken sandwich and we split an order of fries. If you have had their beer canned, you will be crazy about it fresh on-tap. The staff made some great suggestions for beer based on what we like and let us sample several. I was surprised at how much I loved the Sherpa Sherbet OG. It is my new favorite, unfortunately only available on tap. Luckily they had Outlaw Gose Wales and Ambrosia Fluff in cans, my second and third favorites. I will probably do a flight next time.

Kevin G.

Yelp
First time here. Over an hour from home. Be back on my next day off. Great food, beer, and cool vibe. Impressive menu for a brewery pub. Nice variety and our food was excellent. I also liked the "beer and a shot" option in the drink menu. Great value.

Walt S.

Yelp
Speakeasy. The poutine was fantastic. 4oz pours available. Beer you can only get there. First time last Friday afternoon. Great experience!

Debbie C.

Yelp
Decided to go her for Hattiesburg's restuarant week. We ate outside which had a nice relaxed atmosphere. enjoyed the poutine with roast beef and the service was great. #eatHBURG

Elizabeth M.

Yelp
Beautiful, clean brewery with lots of great choices. I'd like to try them all but then they'd have to drive me home . Ordered from the food truck and had a great ale. Service is good. Will definitely be back to try them all!

Brittany S.

Yelp
Me and my husband wanted to try out their fruited sour beers and got the pizza roll nacho while we were there. 10/10 highly recommend! We really enjoyed the drinks, food and atmosphere!

Reagan V.

Yelp
Based on the food and beer alone: Love love love. The chorizo pizza is so good and there is a great selection of beer! I also love the atmosphere for a group. Games and great outdoor seating. I'd recommend checking it out!

Virginia S.

Yelp
Stop what you're doing and go to SoPro right this minute. Such a cool way to get to know local drafts-- and definitely a solid option if looking for vegetarian or vegan food options around town.

Randal C.

Yelp
Great selection of beers that run the gamut from porters to sours and everything in between. Two of my favorites are the Berserker, a porter with strong coffee tones, and Fire Ant, an Imperial Red Ale. Both pack a punch at 8%. Nice thing is that you can order 4oz pours which makes it easy to sample a number of offerings. While visiting from NJ we stopped in on two occasions and sat out on the patio. Had some tasty pub apps which was a nice complement. Next time in town we'll be sure to stop in to sample more of the extensive offerings. If you love beer, you'll love this place. BTW great service as well. Touch less ordering through Toast.

Larry R.

Yelp
Uhh our experience here was kind of odd. First trying to find this place was a bit of a challenge and we're not locals but it seemed a bit sketchy. The tasting area is just inside what appears to be an old warehouse. No signage you just kind have to figure it out. Inside is well done. Very modern. We got welcomed and told basically to sit down and use the QR code at the table. I just find that weird. In a small craft brewery I like to ask about the beers. I mean the QR thing would be great at Buffalo Wild Wings but it's off putting in a place that has room for maybe 20 people. Beers were ok. The ipa with lactose was very good. Lots of young folks came in wearing masks until they sat down. No sports on the tv. Old bob ross painting videos and some other off the wall thing. Drinks seem a bit expensive as well. 8 bucks a beer is on the edge of forget it. Overall weird. Not a place I'd frequent.

Neal M.

Yelp
Man do I LOVE SOPRO!? I've been buying their beers to take home to Austin for a few years now. I've had some amazing stuff by them too. I FINALLY got to visit the taproom and well, I did twice on a recent trip. The taproom is AMAZING. They have a huge room with couches and a projector and in the taproom they have lots of tables. Nice patio too! I was beyond stoked to get to try their beer on draft. They also offer lots of packaged (cans, bombers and crowlers) and merch. Everyone working here was beyond nice as well. Can't wait to visit more regularly!

Paul T.

Yelp
We've been touring the MS-LA area visiting Craft Breweries on weekends. While they've all be great, we enjoyed our visit to So Pro so much that it will be hard to not return sooner than later. The food trucks offer a variety of "great eats" in a comfortable setting.

Greg R.

Yelp
Great surprise to stumble upon. Staff was all super-friendly. We did 2 beer flights and at some pork tacos. Delicious!! Love the outdoor seating.

Conner B.

Yelp
Me, my wife, and my patna busted up into this spot this past weekend and it was effin awesome!! I was a little skeptical considering I'm not a beer know it all, and that the bartenders would not be friendly, but that was definitely not the case. We were all served with happy, friendly smiles. I guess all you've got to do for someone to be nice and helpful is not be an asshole. Hmmm, sounds simple enough. I ended up liking 2 of the 9 beers I tried, but at the end of the day, I'm more of a bud light guy anyway. Just figured I'd start trying some new things. A big plus was there was a nice feller there whippin up pizzas outside that included a lotttt of love within the ingredients. An even bigger plus for me because my wife was seventeen different kinds of hangry on the way up there. This place is Awesome and I'm glad I tried it out, I will be coming here a few times a year at the least. Thanks bye.

Daniel W.

Yelp
I've been visiting Sopro since the beginning. Now that the laws have changed, they are able to sell product at the brewery. So the tours are off, and the brewpub is open. Nice retro-ish space, and it is great to see older abandoned buildings come back to life. The outdoor patio is going to be super nice in the fall. Visit for limited edition brews and stone fired pizzas by the Mercury Pizza food trailer. I'll miss the tours and samples.

Yelp
My wife and I decided to try Southern Prohibition Brewing since I was familiar with many of their bomber bottle offerings in Tennessee and Alabama and were visiting southern Mississippi. We arrived just after opening on Saturday morning, May 12, 2018. Huge place inside with lots of seating, pool table, and arcade games. Then, as you walk towards the bar, there was more seating, etc. I did see seating outside but it was much too warm to be sitting outside today. The wife and I chose to sit at the bar since I was not familiar with many of the beers on their board and we thought it might be easier to get information out of one (of two) bartenders on duty. My first question was "Do you offer flights?" I didn't think this was a dumb question because I knew the laws in Mississippi were much more stringent than in Tennessee and especially my previous home state of Wisconsin. The one bartender responded with a "yes" and slid a menu to me. I asked: "How do I know what beers make up the flagship flight?" With a somewhat terse reply (because apparently it was more important for her to be programming crap music into their audio device than sell their products), she responded with a "You find out by me telling you." At that point, i was about ready to get up and walk out. But, I had driven about 45 minutes to get there so I thought I'd try with the other bartender. However, she was less inclined to walk over to me and literally was shouting answers to my questions from 20' feet away. Cutting to the chase, I tried one flagship flight, a custom build my own flight, and one Mother's Boy pint. All fair to good beers. Devils Harvest was probably my favorite. However, the service was terrible. Lack of conversation, lack of a courteous smile...they look like they wanted to be anywhere but there. With the exception of a couple locals, they did not speak to anyone. Finally, towards the end when i just wanted to cash-out and move on, I couldn't get either one's attention long enough between bites of whatever they were eating at the far end of the bar. I won't go back...in fact, based on that experience, I probably won't buy their beer at retail outlets any longer as well. Too many offerings available to reward poor customer service.

Sally D.

Yelp
The bottom line is that I love their beer. I live in New Orleans and always have some of it in my refrigerator. Regionally, I think it's the best we've got to offer to the national brewing scene. SoPro is an IPA lovers dream... especially the hazy/juice IPAs. Every few months I make it to the brewery. The space is big and open with an amazing outdoor yard that's great when it's not too hot out! There is tons of seating to accommodate all party sizes and they have seating at the bar too. Food trucks frequent on the weekends. There's a good collection of games inside and out and board games. The $2 tour on Saturday includes a four beer flight, which is the best deal they've got. I would not say that the service is their strong suit. The bartenders I've experienced have not been super chatty or friendly. I enjoy talking shop when at a brewery and asking questions, but I guess they do not. Maybe I just haven't met the right one yet. Parking is also kind of weird, with few designated spaces and some off-street spots. But that goes hand-in-hand with bringing back an old, original building. I give props for that!

Rusty W.

Yelp
We stopped here on our road trip to Hattiesburg. It a nice cozy joint in a warehouse near the downtown area. They also have an outdoor patio. Their beers are very good. While there we had broflo ipa and luddite 2.0 - a collaboration with courtyard Brewery from New Orleans. Both were awesome!

James T.

Yelp
Hi I'm James , and I love beer , and I really like touring the local breweries. These small breweries are turning out some great beers . Finding the brewery was fun . It would have been a lot harder without GPS , since there's no sign on the building. Inside it's very clean , and spacious. There's a long row of tables across from the bar to sit , while you sample their beers. The tour is short , fun , and informative. Our guide was funny , and eagerly answered all questions. I've got to hand it to them , the brewery section was very clean . It's nice to know the beer your drinking comes from a clean place. I would come back here , just to sit and drink beer. You get 6 samples , for $8 , that's a bargain in my book.

Lindsey B.

Yelp
My boyfriend lives in the area and suggested going here for date night. I was really impressed by the beer selection, and we were able to try most of their selection through their sampler trays. However, the highlight of the night was the special, the Roasted Beet and Arugula Pizza. If you have a chance to order this, please do. The cook came out after to check on us and to see what we thought of it. He seemed like a really talented and stand up guy. Can't wait to go back.

Kimberly N.

Yelp
I love supporting local breweries and this a fine one. The tour is short and sweet, about the same process as any other brewery. They seem to brew lots of hoppy beers like IPA APA and red ales. Which I get is trendy right now. I don't happen to like those and prefer wheat beers or stouts and porters. I did have the milk stout which was very smooth and paired well with the popsicle I had with it. Since I'm not from here I don't know if they always have the popsicle stand there, this was for a special event. The outside area could use some lights, it would be very nice to chill out there on a nice night.

AJ D.

Yelp
Small brewery with a big punch! Awesome people working here. Quick tour with with samples after. The whole staff make you feel part of the family...definitely a must visit if you're in the area. You will not regret it.

Kelsey J.

Yelp
Okay. Let me start off by saying I love SoPro's beers. I buy them from the coast and I really enjoy their flavors. That's literally the only reason I'm not giving one star. My husband and I have been wanting to come to the brewery for forever and we finally did on Friday. First- the parking situation is super sketchy. I honestly felt uncomfortable in the area the brewery is in. That doesn't take away from them, but it would be nice if they invested in some kind of parking system. Second- the people working the bar were kind of bland. I know you can't be super pumped 24/7, but I just felt so unwelcomed while we were there. The girls couldn't really recommend any drinks. I only drink sours and I asked what they recommended and their response was to hand me the menu. Third- I feel like brewery scenes are just SO pretentious. You don't have to be rude to have a cool set up. Like. Edgy, quiet, pompous might work for some people but it was a major turn off for me.

Yelp
Fantastic Brews! Neat venue. Kind of beer snobish. Great outdoor games and cool bar and building. It was the middle of football season so I made the mistake of asking if they might have any games on during open hours on Saturday and I was told I should go to Buffalo Wild Wings because they are not a sports bar. Well, excuse me. Brews are 5 stars. Venue is 4 stars. Hospitality and vibe needs some work. PS....updating 10 months later...I still buy SoPro on a regular basis, but usually at the grocery store. I just can't seem to get a good vibe when I visit SoPro although I have returned several times since its near me. Most of the other comments on Yelp pretty much mirror mine. Great beer though.

Mike M.

Yelp
Fun atmosphere. Guided tours on Saturday afternoons. Fun upbeat atmosphere. Tasty beer, with enough options that everyone should enjoy a favorite.

Briana M.

Yelp
Spent a good amount of money on a raffle for a $300 tattoo about two years back. I won the raffle and my contact information was collected but I was never contacted. I reached out to the brewery to contact the coordinator who continued to ignore my calls/messages. I have never gone back and never received the tattoo I rightfully won. Last time I checked that's called stealing. I refuse to support a dishonest company.

Scott C.

Yelp
What more can you ask for ion a brewery than great people making great beer? Good selection of lighter beers into more hoppy varieties (but where's the stouts, yo?). Glad to see the Mississippi brew scene growing. $8 for a Friday tour is a great deal, keep the glass and sample the beer. Hope MS allows purchase at the brewery soon. Come here on a Friday afternoon! Meet some great people!

Debby W.

Yelp
Wow. Really great beer and a chill atmosphere. The tour was interesting. Paid $8 for the tour and "samples" that would have cost $50 back in West Palm Beach. Make sure you eat first or bring food.

Carrie P.

Yelp
This small brewery has a laid back atmosphere and good brews. The staff is excellent, and they are very knowledgeable about their beer. The Suzy B and the Maened are especially good. There are plenty of seats indoors, abc there is outdoor seating (though unfortunately not enough shaded areas). It's a fun place to visit with friends, play board games, and drink good beer.

Tre A.

Yelp
Awesome place to go and chill from 4pm-8pm on Friday night. $8 for a "flight sheet" for 6 awesome craft beers on tap! They have Wii sports on a TV, Cornhole, Washer, Darts, and FREE Popsicles! Lol. Definite go to on a Friday night if you are in Hattiesburg, MS. Get the Lazarus! 9%

Amanda N.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I both love beer and were a bit disappointed being avid craft beer drinkers and brewery goers. The beer was decent. The atmosphere was welcoming. Two stars for the tour. The guy behind the counter serving drinks seems as if his personality would be better suited for giving the tour. I believe they said the microbiologist gave the tour and unfortunately, the presentation lacked history, enthusiasm and interest on part of the one giving the tour. We visited a few months ago and would likely return to see if anything is different.
