My wife and I decided to try Southern Prohibition Brewing since I was familiar with many of their bomber bottle offerings in Tennessee and Alabama and were visiting southern Mississippi.
We arrived just after opening on Saturday morning, May 12, 2018. Huge place inside with lots of seating, pool table, and arcade games. Then, as you walk towards the bar, there was more seating, etc. I did see seating outside but it was much too warm to be sitting outside today.
The wife and I chose to sit at the bar since I was not familiar with many of the beers on their board and we thought it might be easier to get information out of one (of two) bartenders on duty.
My first question was "Do you offer flights?" I didn't think this was a dumb question because I knew the laws in Mississippi were much more stringent than in Tennessee and especially my previous home state of Wisconsin. The one bartender responded with a "yes" and slid a menu to me. I asked: "How do I know what beers make up the flagship flight?"
With a somewhat terse reply (because apparently it was more important for her to be programming crap music into their audio device than sell their products), she responded with a "You find out by me telling you."
At that point, i was about ready to get up and walk out. But, I had driven about 45 minutes to get there so I thought I'd try with the other bartender. However, she was less inclined to walk over to me and literally was shouting answers to my questions from 20' feet away.
Cutting to the chase, I tried one flagship flight, a custom build my own flight, and one Mother's Boy pint. All fair to good beers. Devils Harvest was probably my favorite.
However, the service was terrible. Lack of conversation, lack of a courteous smile...they look like they wanted to be anywhere but there. With the exception of a couple locals, they did not speak to anyone. Finally, towards the end when i just wanted to cash-out and move on, I couldn't get either one's attention long enough between bites of whatever they were eating at the far end of the bar.
I won't go back...in fact, based on that experience, I probably won't buy their beer at retail outlets any longer as well. Too many offerings available to reward poor customer service.
