When in Jerome, the Haunted Hamburger seemed like a must. We went for a late lunch, but even then the wait was pretty long; however, they got us in quicker than expected, which was a perk.
The building is historic, so I can't fault it too much, but if you are seated inside the dining room, it is so loud that it can be hard to have a conversation if it is crowded. The views are really gorgeous, if you are seated facing out, so that is a nice perk. It did not feel spooky or haunted at all, but then again there were so many people, I am sure that was killing the vibe a little.
Foodwise, it was ok. I should have known from the "Real Women Eat Beef" shirts (juvenile) that the vegetarian options might leave something to be desired. Instead of embracing the Beyond/Impossible trend, it is 1985 up in there and they are still serving Gardenburger, which I didn't realize was actually still being sold. That meant a relatively flavorless mush of a burger. With so many good alternatives now and price tags that are a bit much for a hamburger anyway, the HH could get with the 21st Century. That said, the twice baked potato was excellent, and if you put enough stuff on any burger, it will be fine.
Service was fine, but they were so swamped that it was all pretty impersonal. All in all, it was an OK experience, and now I can say I have been to the famous Haunted Hamburger, but I am not sure I would go back.
