Hauser & Wirth

I think this gallery is one of my favorites in Chelsea. Every time I visit, it evokes a different feeling - whether it’s fascination, surprise, or even dislike. No matter what, I always leave with a reaction, and that’s what keeps me coming back.

One of two Chelsea outposts of the great Hauser & Wirth gallery. The current show on David Smith's late sculptures is an eye opener if you are used to his "standard" sculptures in shiny bare steel. These late sculptures are a lot more experimental than I would have expected in terms of forms and colors. The 5th floor skylit gallery is a great space for these sculptures.

Another of those little "trippy" interactive art exhibitions locally; pretty much makes visitors connect over the displays; staff either is/was involved in various "arts", as well, leading to interesting chats featuring some of them occasionally 😎

Full disclosure. I didn’t actually drink any of the coffee here. We just came in and found that the place was extremely quaint and interesting. They sell books and there’s a coffee shop in the back. Very eclectic and very interesting. Check out my pictures. The next time we are by this area I will definitely drop by look at the books and have some other coffee and treats.

A great gallery with a large space and collection. Went for a Thursday night gallery opening and there were a lot of people, young & old, and a nice place to meet new friends and chat with likeminded people.

Beautiful exhibition of Nocolas Party’ paintings, great vibe and a pure enjoyment of the art 🫶

A very large gallery space with a few floors to visit, though generally meant for larger works given the high ceilings. So you’d really only come here if you’re interested in a particular artist’s works or want to see large pieces.
