My husband and I booked a room at this hotel for a weekend getaway to celebrate my birthday. We spent a lot of time carefully choosing where to stay, and Havana Cabana seemed to check all the boxes. Although it was more expensive than we originally planned, we decided to splurge because it appeared to be the perfect spot. However, on the morning of our reservation, we received a text from the hotel informing us that due to construction, our reservation had been moved to a different property. This came as a complete shock—especially with no advance notice or clear explanation. We immediately reached out to the manager to express our confusion and disappointment. My husband explained that it was my birthday weekend and that such a last-minute change would completely derail our plans. We asked about the possibility of a refund or any form of compensation, given the inconvenience and lack of communication, but were told none would be offered. To make matters worse, the hotel we were transferred to was entirely different—much larger, crowded with families, and lacking the boutique atmosphere we had specifically chosen. One of the main reasons we picked Havana Cabana was for its smaller, more relaxing environment, along with its pool and easily accessible food options. I can’t express how disappointed I am with how this was handled. I’m still at a loss as to how management feels it’s acceptable to relocate guests on the day of their stay without offering any sort of refund or consideration.

The pool bar at Havana Cabana is an amazing spot to unwind and enjoy the Key West vibe. The atmosphere is laid-back and tropical, with great music and a beautiful setting by the water. The food service was a bit slow, but honestly, it was worth the wait. Everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully plated. The drinks were also fantastic and refreshing. Overall, a great experience — I’ll definitely be coming back!

We went on a last minute trip to Key West in June 2025. Havana Cabana was an available spot that was less expensive due to its location. The shuttle service made it easy to get to and from downtown with shuttles every half hour. We loved the pool! It is beautiful with a natural, tropical environment. We ordered food, drinks and had multiple options in shade or sun. There are two attendants throughout the day who are making sure it is clean and providing you with towels, sunscreen, and cold water. The hotel itself is a little dated but it adds to the charm. We had a second floor room overlooking the pool. The music does play at night and you can hear people having fun and swimming. The music did stop at 11pm and we were able to sleep fine.

We enjoyed our stay at the Havana Cabana. Rooms were nice and clean and the decor and hotel decor was great. The pool is a good size with plenty of space. Breakfast was really good from the food truck and it was nice sitting in the covered area. Also the shuttle service was a good option for round trips to down town. We would definitely go back.|For ideas on want to do and places to go, you need to see Miki Cruz at the concierge desk. She is the one to talk to if you have any questions or need recommendations for Key West. I recommend to rent a scooter or golf cart so you can ride around the island. Miki can arrange that for you.

David greeted us when we arrived. He was so nice! We were celebrating our anniversary. David upgraded our room and brought us a bouquet of balloons. Our room had a beautiful view of the pool. Our room was clean and very comfortable! The sunsets from the front of the hotel were stunning! Fantastic stay!

My boyfriend and I had a fun time however, due to hurricane damage, workers started hammering on rooftops around 8:30 am. We were located poolside which was nice and had its perks but the gates to the pool constantly slammed in the early hours and the music started up by the pool around 10am which echoed in our room. Also the property maintenance workers would start leaf blowing around the pool area around 8:30am as well. Despite having a good time, we did not sleep well here. This resort is still dealing with serious hurricane damage. Our room clearly had damage and had been flooded, swollen doors and the floor laminate completely lifted up. Being a Florida resident, I am sympathetic to this but I wasn’t expecting these conditions for the prices that were paid. Also on site food and drink prices were incredibly high. The shuttle to down town was very convenient and timely and The Flama Cabana bar is absolutely incredible. I feel that this hotel pre hurricanes would have been the best place to stay in Key West. It is apparent that hotel management is doing the best that they can do get their resort back in full working order but I do feel as though this information should have been disclosed or room prices should have reflected this and been more reasonable. We were also under the impression that this was an 21+ only resort and were notified that as of April 2025 it no longer was. Overall, despite all of this, if I had the opportunity, I know I would enjoy myself here again.

If I could give zero stars, I would. Havana Cabana completely disrupted our travel plans and failed to deliver what was promised. We originally chose this hotel specifically to stay with friends. Two rooms were booked separately, but upon arrival, our friends were told they’d been moved to a different hotel due to renovations in their building, something they were never notified of in advance. We were placed in the main building, resulting in the group being split up, an outcome that would have changed our decision to stay here had we known in time. The lack of communication alone is unacceptable. Had they given us advance notice of this major change, we would have had the opportunity to cancel and find a different hotel that could accommodate us all. To make matters worse, our room was not what we reserved. We booked two queen beds but were given one king bed and a sofa couch, completely unsuitable for our needs. When we brought this to the front desk, we approached the situation with patience and understanding, but were met with “there’s nothing we can do.” They offered us a manager’s card, but the manager wasn’t on property and all calls went straight to voicemail. As two couples, one with a pregnant guest and another with severe sciatica, being forced to split the room and alternate sleeping arrangements on a couch and a bed was not just uncomfortable, it was unfair and unacceptable. This is not what we paid for. This experience severely impacted the start of our trip. The bare minimum would have been to notify us ahead of time so we could make alternate arrangements. Based on this experience, I would never consider staying here again.

A beautiful resort and a different Key West experience! The service, food and amenities (including an assortment of snacks and drinks by the pool at various times) were outstanding and the ambience and Cuban artwork and vibe made for a delightful stay! The only negative for us is that the poolside music tended to be very loud head-banging music which was not terribly conducive to pool relaxation. After a little bit of a misunderstanding about the schedules, the shuttle service to downtown ran efficiently and all drivers were friendly and accommodating. The resort is very pet friendly and has snacks in the lobby for our furry friends. Note that management asks that we don't leave pets unattended in the room. And check the pet fee. If you do not need to stay in old town, this is definitely the place to stay!
