I've been ordering coffee beans from them since I bought my own espresso machine a year ago, so being able to finally visit the store in real life was so exciting! Coffee was amazing, tastes even better than the ones I make at home with their roasted beans, I guess it's a barista-diff hey 🤣 I must have went a little late as there were no cabinet foods left; I don't think this is a café (with food options), but more of a roastery for coffee bean production, and brewing coffee. Staff were lovely despite being very busy with lots of bean bagging to do. I loved the interior, it was a vintage vibe with muted pastel shades of pink and cyan

It is Havana coffee. It absolutely does look like a cafe in HAVANA, CUBA: classic but bit too run down vibe. I think this is what all we came to Cuba for. The vibe is absolutely smashing, nevertheless it is always kinda sad. The service is typical melancholic. Always have you a mixed feeling. This is classic Cuban or South American vibe which made you feel like you are intruding but still you wanna be in, typing this makes me laugh out loud. Highlight is the coffee is good, cheap and the photos are killing 🇨🇺. Here they are:

A pity the Café is closed now. Was one of the best spots in town. The good news, you can get the full range of their fantastic local roasted coffee at the shop next door down the aisle. And a small bite as well. Only 4 small tables and some chairs but still great atmosphere and coffee.

Tried the latte the other day, and honestly, it hit the spot. Super smooth, with just the right balance of espresso and milk. Would definitely go back for another!

I went their coffee station at the Wellington train station and got long black. Their beans taste like somehow too much acid for me and I think I prefer mild taste instead of this. Staff is not too friendly there but is high effcient. Maybe I will try other beans but so far not a big fan of it.

The Best Coffee in Wellington therefore the best in New Zealand. I recently had coffee in the over-hyped about Wairarapa Valley and it was rubbish as was the food there : overpriced and poor quality. Havana has great people and excellent coffee. My favourite coffee bar.

Love love love Havana Coffee Works! Great coffee, great cafe, great staff. Always a must stop when in Wellington, but when in Melbourne we order our coffee from Havana and have it shipped over. Everything is great!

Yelp
My partner and I went to Havana Coffee Works for my birthday and had a great experience! Our barista was kind and informative. We both got flat whites (mine was oat milk and his was cow milk). Though the cow milk was (naturally) creamier, the oat milk latte was also super tasty. I really appreciate that they offer larger sizes! We also got a pizza scroll with cheese and jalapeño and an apple-cinnamon roll. I'd recommend asking for them to be heated up because ours were at room temperature. We got all of this for ~$26. The barista also gave us filter coffees on the house! It's a really cool space to hang out in for a few hours and I'll absolutely be back again!

Yelp
The main cafe is under repair, who knows if it will open up again. It was a cool small cafe with a unique look, you might get a danish, or some other pastry that won't cause regret but nor will it leave a lasting impression. It's about the coffee. Beside the cafe is the coffee works. The cost of a Havana coffee at the works is higher than the retail price for Havana at other places, but it has 'the zing'. You won't get fresher beans in Wellington. Great aesthetic, lots to look at while they make your coffee. You can purchase beans, it's a solid repeatable caffeine experience. edit: Some of the photos on these reviews are showing Midnight Espresso, this review is purely about the superlative coffee works in Tory street. Regarding Midnight on Cuba, it has unfortunately gone the way of so many other cafes in Wellington, I've given Midnight 3 bad strikes (lousy visits, uncooked food, hygiene...) and will return no more.

Yelp
I am a coffee snob. I like my coffee bold, and strong, and Havana delivers! This place is so cute! It really looks like it was transplanted from Cuba. While the inside is small and pretty busy with what appear to be older locals gathering for morning coffee, it is so cozy. I ordered an iced coffee, and my husband got an iced coffee with ice cream! YUM! Both were very delicious and we each had a muffin (savory & sweet), which were very flavorful and filling. Through the large windows next to where you enter, there is a small warehouse where you can see them processing their beans (so tempting to grab a gigantic sack to go haha). This place definitely does it well- don't miss out!

Yelp
After a few underwhelming coffees in Wellington during our three days there, we hit up Havana Coffee Works on our last day on the way to pick up our rental car. Definitely the best of the bunch and wish I had found it sooner. I'd say this is the second most memorable coffee from New Zealand after Miller's in Auckland. Always great to get my coffee from the same place they roast the beans. Friendly staff posed for a picture in the roasting facility, and we had a breakfast pie as well that was really good.

Yelp
because of this cute place, I want to live in wellington for more days. check out the food bar... yum...

Yelp
A little out of the way but worth the pilgrimage to worship at the altar that has brought so much goodness to Welly - Havana coffee works, Havana Bar, Fidels. And you get to do it in style, surrounded by furnishings imported from Cuba and bathed in the scent of the coffee roasting next door...

Yelp
Best coffee in Wellington, stumbled again this place on a cold windy welly day and it was just what was needed

Yelp
Loved their coffee. We went to l'affare right afterwards and the flat white did not compare to Havana.

Stuart A.

Yelp
Coffee was decent but not excellent. Their plastic reusable cups are cool looking but they expand with the heat of the coffee and leak everywhere. They are useless. Unfortunately I bought 2.

Yelp
This coffee shop is really cute. The cafe is right next door to the roasterie and is inside a retro building. The coffee is pretty tasty with standard pricing. Unfortunately the roasterie is really really loud and to combat this they were playing even louder 2000s music. The music was awesome but it was all a bit much. Also- no internet here.
